It's never too early for PS5 dedications and fan art. Outside of some amazing concept art the community has been brewing up over the years, there's been little in the way of character mashups. Thankfully, gaming art superstar BT_BlackThunder has come up with another amazing mashup of characters — this time hitting the PS5 exclusives and launch lineup, showcasing play has no limits.

As always, Black Thunder shared across his newest project on their Twitter account, with the caption "Play Has No Limits." And the mash-up is a true work of art — hitting all of the characters that are getting us so hyped for launch.

AS you can imagine, Miles Morales (from the PS5 exclusive Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales expansion) is taking the top-billing spot. Then we get some other representation across the board, whether we are talking Aloy (Horizon Forbidden West), Astro (Astro's Playroom), or the mysterious female Lombax (Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart).

Not to solely focus on the PlayStation first-party exclusive, there is also some representation for GodfallBugsnax, and Kena: Bridge of Sprits. It's a pretty neat collection, and is a good reminder of what is coming to PS5 in the next couple of years. Also, it makes for a sweet background.

In other PS5 news, we learned recently from a new patent that the PS5 might be using a new liquid metal technique to optimize cooling in a shift away from thermal paste. On top of that, the speculation that PS5 is only capable of "fake 4K" gaming got thoroughly debunked over the weekend thanks to some statements from current developers.

The PS5 should be hitting stores in Holiday 2020, however we don't know a specific price point yet. Regardless, keep your eyes tuned on DualShockers for more news about the console (and all the games in the photos) as it becomes available.

4K HDR TVs Are Crazy Accessible with TCL 6-Series 2020

The PS5 and Xbox Series X are just around the corner, and this is the first time any base consoles have been capable to hit 4K and HDR from launch. And while many techies and gamers have been set for this 4K future for years, others have hit price prohibitive roadblocks. Too often you are settling for high-quality 1080p or low-end, budget brand 4K HDR devices. That is, until now; TCL is teaming up with THX to produce a gaming-centric 4K HDR TV that punches way above its $649.99 price tag.

In the annual update to the TCL Class 6-Series, the 2020 version is officially jumping to QLED support — a substantial leap from previous models the relied on traditional LEDs. According to marketing materials from TCL, the company is looking to heavily support the gaming audience — specifically with 120 FPS support, automatic Game Mode detection, low latency, and judder and smear reduction.

The TCL Class 6-Series is available now, well ahead of the next gen console launches that should be coming Holiday 2020. On top of that, there are three different size options available as incredibly low prices:

  • 55″ Model: $649.99
  • 65″ Model: $899.99
  • 75″ Model: $1399.99

Comparatively, this puts the TCL Class 6-Series 2020 in the low-end of a moderate price range, which is a blessing. With 8K (and 8K gaming) already starting to peek its head around the corner, it may not be worth it to dive into a TV that might get edged out with an inevitable PS5 Pro.

And doubling back to the Game Mode, it looks like TCL has partnered with THX this year to get their Game Mode certified. So outside of the company showcasing its products, we can be pretty self-assured that the TV will be hitting all of the benchmarks that it is boasting.

PS5 Will Utilize Liquid Metal Technique for Cooling, According to Released Patent

Through a recently released patent filed just last year, Sony has revealed that their next-gen PS5 console will be using a liquid cooling technique to counteract limitations of thermal paste or grease. According to an English translated version of the official document, the cooling system will use a variety of metal alloys (some that include silver and cooper) that remain liquid at room temperature. Below are a few of the diagrams that demonstrate how the technology will work with the heat sink:

The patent also details the seals that would contain the liquid metal, made of an "ultraviolet cured resin" that will ensure it doesn't leak into the system. The liquid metal will only be applied to the heat sink itself (as an alternative to thermal paste / grease), with the rest of the system still using fans and airflow to carry the heat out of the system.

The patent excerpts below delve a bit more into the process of the liquid cooling system:

"When the heat generation amount of the semiconductor chip increases, it becomes difficult to sufficiently cool the semiconductor chip due to the thermal resistance possessed by the grease. In the semiconductor device…a metal liquefied by heat at the time of operation of a semiconductor chip is used as a heat conductive material between the semiconductor chip and the radiator in place of grease. When such a metal is used, the thermal resistance between the semiconductor chip and the radiator is lowered, and the cooling performance of the semiconductor chip can be improve.

​"In a structure using a metal having fluidity as a heat conductive material, in order to sufficiently exhibit cooling performance, it is important to limit a range in which the heat conductive material spreads even when a posture change or vibration of the semiconductor device occurs. Furthermore, when the heat sink is pressed against the semiconductor chip, it is important that the force acts sufficiently on the semiconductor chip. That is, adhesion between the semiconductor chip and the radiator is also important."

It's important to note that this tech isn't 100 percent confirmation of the PS5 using this exact system. However, the timing is what's important here and this patent shows some insight into the kind of architect the system will most likely be using. In other recent news, according to a recent job listing Sony is already developing the next gen version of PSVR — specifically "development of head-mounted display for next-generation VR." Several leaks have also been surfacing about the PS5's DualSense controller and how it reportedly has a much larger battery capacity than the DualShock 4. And despite rumors flying around stating otherwise, the developers of Quantum Error have confirmed that the PS5 has no issue hitting native 4K 60FPS.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory's Release Date May Have Leaked

It isn't a week in gaming without a retailer-related release date leak — and according to a new listing, we may have just filled out quota. According to a listing from Austrian retailer Gameware, we may finally have the release date for Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Specifically, the game might come out on November 13, 2020.

News comes by way of Austrian gaming retailer Gameware in a listing, first spotted by Twitter user So_Ethereal:

A quick scan of the retailer's page shows that the listing hasn't been removed since earlier today, and it isn't immediately clear on how long the listing has had this release date.

As always, there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical about retailer leaks — which are more often than not placeholder dates. Let us not forget the time that Amazon listed Cyberpunk 2077 as coming out sometime between 2030 and 2099. Another thing of note, it seems like the listing page does not have the cover art, nor a listing for Xbox One. So it is clearly working off of incomplete information. Even still, earlier leaks have proven to be true — including the Square Enix-based leak of Marvel's Avengers PlayStation exclusivity for Spider-Man.

In short, make sure you are taking this rumor with a grain of salt — but I'll be marking my calendar down for the next chunk of Kingdom Hearts lore. Even if the rest of my team is a little less enthused:

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is the rhythm-based follow up to Kingdom Hearts 3 that will be going over many of the cutscenes. Revealed about two months ago, fans of the series were told the game would launch sometime in 2020 — though an exact date hadn't yet been specified. Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is set to launch in 2020 (perhaps November 13th) on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Cross Generation Developer Frustration Is a Win for PS5

Another day, another insider giving some brief yet insightful details into the upcoming launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X. While yesterday we discussed the debunking of the pernicious "fake 4K" rumor being passed around, today focuses instead on some statements from Digital Foundry's John Linneman. Specifically, that developers aren't particularly keen to develop cross-generation titles — something that should be considered a win for PlayStation.

First off, for those new to console generations (hey zoomers!), cross-generation titles specifically mean games that will come out for both current gen consoles (PS4/Xbox One) and next gen consoles (PS5/Xbox Series X). Despite the fact that we are still enjoying technical and graphical powerhouses on current gen consoles, there is a major power disparity between the two base consoles.

According to a series of tweets by John Linneman, there is a growing logic that next-gen exclusive titles are "anti-consumer," leading to a dearth of cross generation games. While there is objectively a pro-business move in this, as Linneman points out, there is little reason to believe the move is anti-consumer:

Linneman goes on in other replies to note that there are multiple downsides to cross generation compatibility, especially in the age of multiple tech SKUs (PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, etc.). The more hardware that has to be supported, the more work and money needs to be thrown at the problem. Also, the frustration with the development team shifts as they have to work harder on fixing bugs — not so much on developing out the content of their game:

Boiled down to it, he states "nobody wants to develop for an under-powered Jaguar CPU any longer," a point he has pulled from conversations with current developers:

Now what does this mean strategically for the two consoles? Ultimately, it is a pretty big win for the PS5. Xbox Series X is (for better or worse) running on a platform of continuity among generations — hoping to keep support running for the oldest versions of the Xbox One for years to come. Meanwhile, while the PS5 has its fair share of cross-gen games coming at launch, we have already seen evidence that their first-party studios have no problem shifting away from PS4 in the very near future.

If Xbox is going to be contracting with developers to make sure that every console in the Xbox family is being supported in the near future, we might be seeing a couple years of resource-strapped Xbox Series X titles (rushed to support a continuing aged system). Meanwhile, the PS5 has more of an opportunity to break away from shackles of aged tech.

Ultimately, we don't know how developers will take to developing for either consoles — with embargoes and NDA's underfoot, it's tough to know how content creators are taking to both systems. However, if there is general fatigue with the broader Xbox strategy (despite being more pro-consumer), it puts Microsoft in a notably tough spot.

Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are slated to release in Holiday 2020, though exact launch dates or price points haven't yet been revealed.

Ghost of Tsushima Official Artbook is a Stunning Tribute to a Beautiful World

Dark Horse Comics' official Twitter account revealed the absolutely lovely Ghost of Tsushima artbook, with almost 200 pages of character and environment artwork. The artbook design itself has a sleek design clearly inspired by Japanese woodblock paintings and is available for preorder now:

The official site description reads as follows: "Step into the role of Tsushima Island's last samurai through a vivid showcase of detail in a vast and exotic locale, featuring elegant illustrations of dynamic characters, spirited landscapes, and diagrams of Samurai sword-fighting techniques. Inspired by traditional Japanese art, this gorgeously designed art book showcases every vivid detail of Ghost of Tsushima!"

Jason Connell and Nate Fox, the creative directors behind Ghost of Tsushima delve into how they found themselves working with the estate of Akira Kurosawa for approval on the black-and-white cinematic mode, called Kurosawa Mode. And Joanna Wang, the lead environmental artist for the title, recently wrote up a detailed blog post on the process behind creating the beautiful environments that can be found in the game.

In an interview with IGN, Game Director Nate Fox talked about the game's difficulty and stated that "We are trying to make a grounded game in that sense, so a couple blows from the enemy will kill you. We watched samurai movies and people go down with one or two strikes, and that is embedded inside of the combat. Beating the Mongols in battle will be hard, but it's that challenge that makes it feel alive and the victory rewarding. You can't just run into a camp and fight 5 people at the same time, you will get overwhelmed and die.

Check out Chris Hawtin who has put together an incredible Ghost of Tsushima motion poster that director Akira Kurosawa would be proud of, as well as this incredible Ghost of Tsushima inspired PS4 by XboxPope. Famed Japanese artist Takashi Okazaki, the creator of the Afro Samurai manga, recently collaborated with Ghost of Tsushima to produce some gorgeous manga-style posters.

Ghost of Tsushima launched on July 17th and broke some serious records. According to recent NPD sales data Ghost of Tsushima was July's best selling game in the U.S. and Famitsu reported that the game is now the highest-selling first-party PS4 exclusive in Japan. The game reached that status in just over three weeks.

Sam Fisher's Addition to Rainbow Six Siege is Exciting but Not Game-Changing

After five years of availability, Ubisoft is finally beginning to merge its other properties into the publisher's highly-popular multiplayer shooter, Rainbow Six Siege. Announced just a few days back, Ubisoft revealed that Sam Fisher, the main protagonist from the Splinter Cell franchise, is set to be the newest Operator joining the larger roster of Siege. The addition of Fisher makes him likely the most marquee character in the game — other than The Lord, of course — at this point in time and is sure to garner interest from both lapsed fans of Siege along with those who are fans of Splinter Cell but have maybe never given Rainbow Six itself a shot.

Ahead of the formal release of Fisher in Rainbow Six's Operation Shadow Legacy update, Ubisoft let me get some hands-on time with the iconic new Operator to get a better idea of how he'll play. In a general sense, I found that Fisher's a great addition to the larger R6 package, even though playing as him won't necessarily remind you of past appearances for the stealth agent.

How Does Sam Fisher Play in Siege?

Fisher, who is dubbed 'Zero' within Rainbow Six Siege, is an attacking Operator. His loadout consists of either an SC3000K assault rifle or an MP7 submachine gun to go along with a 57USG handgun and grenades or claymores.

What sets Zero apart from other operates comes in the way his special ability, which involves some very invasive cameras. Zero can fire piercing cameras into walls with a device called the Argus Launcher. These cameras are able to penetrate anything, including reinforced surfaces. The cameras themselves have a limited view, but they allow you to get a better idea of where the enemy team might be on the map.

Best of all, each camera also comes equipped with two cool features. The first is more of an aesthetic and nostalgic addition than anything, with each unit bosting night vision tech. That means when you fire the camera into a wall and then turn it on, you'll hear the iconic night vision goggles sound effect from Splinter Cell kick on. It's a small inclusion, but one that put a genuine smile on my face when I first utilized it.

The second aspect available with every Argus Launcher camera comes in the way of a laser shot. Each camera can fire a single laser blast, which allows you to destroy certain defenses that the opposing team may have set up. You can also fire these lasers at enemies, but the damage you'll be doing isn't vast whatsoever.

In a good match with Zero, you'll want to primarily try to find where the defending squad is hunkered down before then using your cameras to scout ahead. Since you can penetrate any surfaces with Fisher's nifty gadgets, it's helpful to use him to get a better idea of what you'll be running into before entering certain rooms or areas. Once you get an idea of what's lying in wait, you can then plan out how to attack with your team, or at the very least, ping out where various structures and foes might be at.

While Fisher is fun to play in Siege, just like most other characters are, he's not drastically different enough in playstyle to make it truly feel like you're playing as the legendary stealth agent. Don't expect to be shimmying along pipes, sneaking up behind opponents and choking them out, or marking and executing everyone in sight to easily pull off a 1v5. Zero has a unique playstyle to be certain, but he more often than not only feels like Sam Fisher in name and nothing else.

What Other Changes are Coming to Operation: Shadow Legacy?

While Fisher is the notable add-on with Operation: Shadow Legacy, Ubisoft has also made a variety of other changes this time around. Perhaps the most interesting one comes in the way of something that isn't being included: a second Operator.

In recent history, Ubisoft has tended to add both one new attacking and one new defending Operator in updates in order to keep the roster balanced. However, that isn't happening here with Shadow Legacy. Fisher is all we'll be getting this time around, with his inclusion now bringing the attacking roster to 29 characters with defenders sitting at 28. It's a bit odd but isn't anything that's going to ruin Siege by any means.

The map that is being reworked this time around is that of Chalet, the popular location which resides in a lodge on a snowy hilltop. Chalet has primarily seen a lot of visual reworks, but other small changes have also been added. The roof itself can now be traversed upon and the basement has been fleshed out a bit more to make it not as tight.

Operation: Shadow Legacy also includes a number of smaller tweaks as well. New scopes, sights, and map bans are all present in Rainbow Six Siege now. Reinforcement tools for defenders have also been overhauled, with the full team pulling their wall setups from a larger pool. This latter feature is actually quite helpful and allows for more strategy in the early-game phase for defenders.

In whole, Shadow Legacy feels like another solid update for Siege as a whole. Ubisoft has been great about continually refining Rainbow Six Siege over the years, and Shadow Legacy feels like another well-done injection of new content in the game's third season of year five.


Rainbow Six Siege's Operation: Shadow Legacy update is set to go live tomorrow, August 17, in a beta iteration via the game's test server on PC. It will then be fully releasing all platforms, including PS4 and Xbox One, later on.

Zelda: Skyward Sword for Switch Was Listed on Amazon UK

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Nintendo Switch has been listed on Amazon UK, possibly hinting at an eventual reveal or release.

The page doesn't contain any details on the game such as the release date and it should be noted that Nintendo has not officially confirmed that the game is coming to the console. Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has commented in the past on the possibility of bringing the Wii game over to the Switch without motion controls. He stated that the task would be "a little hard" and "might be close to impossible." With that said, the listing should be taken with a grain of salt.

There has been plenty of times in the past when games have been listed on Amazon or other retailers with no information and nothing has ever come of it. However, the opposite has happened as well.

Skyward Sword released on the Wii back in 2011. It was praised critically, but as time has passed, the game has continued to be the black sheep of the series. It commonly is ridiculed for its motion controls and how much the game holds the player's hand throughout the playthrough. Personally, I quite enjoy the game. It doesn't hold a candle to the likes of Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker but it is otherwise an enjoyable experience as long as the motion controllers work and you do not mind a little simplicity.

With the Wii U receiving two HD remasters of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess and Nintendo's mission to make the console even more obsolete by porting every game to the Switch, I would be surprised to see Skyward Sword come first. Zelda fans, myself included, have been practically begging Nintendo to bring the two remaster to the Switch. Not many people bought a Wii U and it would give the massive Switch player base an awesome opportunity to experience those games.

Summer Games Done Quick Starts Today; Watch Right Here

Well, boys and girls, today is the day. Games Done Quick is back and ready to start today. The event had previously been postponed from its original June window to August and has transitioned over to an online event rather than having runners on-site. All proceeds from the fundraising event will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

The schedule of this event contains some household games you would expect to see such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (my favorite) and Super Mario 64. The event will also feature some fresh newcomers like Hollow Knight, Demon's Souls, and much more. I have to say, Hollow Knight is a massive game and I can't wait to see how the runner will get through it so quickly. The full schedule can be found right here.

The event is set to begin with a pre-show starting at 10:30 AM UTC. If you go to the schedule on Games Done Quick's website, it should factor in your local timezone. After the pre-show, the first game to start the event will be Demon's Souls.

I can't wait to watch some speedrunners absolutely dismantle my favorite childhood games. The way some of these runners tear through games is remarkable and is always a joy to watch. If you are a first-time viewer be prepared to have your mind blown a few times. Especially if one of your favorite games is on the list. I'll always remember seeing the 100% Super Mario 64 run for the first time. It wasn't a speedrun, it was art more than anything.

GDQ previously held a Corona Relief Done Quick stream and was able to raise and donate $400k. Before that, they were able to raise over $3 million back in January for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

GTA V Sold Over 400,000 Copies During Lockdown In Just The UK

As businesses continue to struggle during the global pandemic, the video game industry continues to thrive now that people need stuff to keep them occupied while they are at home. This is especially true for sales of video games in the UK and you can probably guess which game is on the list. Yep, GTA V.

The Entertainment Retailers Association shared sales data between the dates of March 23 to June 13.

During the lockdown in the UK, GTA V has continued to sell incredibly well. The game sold 438,902 copies during the lockdown alone. The game has shipped a massive 135 million copies worldwide for all platforms and I can guarantee that number is still going to grow.

Other than Grand Theft Auto, Activision's Call of Duty Modern Warfare and EA's FIFA 20 continue to sell like hotcakes. FIFA was the best selling game during the lockdown and sold 506,572 copies while Modern Warfare sold 474,902 copies.

The ERA gathered data for both physical and digital sales. However, some companies did not share their digital sales. Nintendo and Bethesda decided not to supply them with download numbers. As pointed out by Eurogamer, this is probably why Animal Crossing is farther down the list with only 206,069 copies sold.

Anyways, here is the top 40 in terms of sales data for all of entertainment during the lockdown in the UK:
