Dirt 5 Receives Short Delay, Now Launching November 6

Dirt 5, Codemasters

It was only a couple of weeks ago that we heard about the new Playgrounds mode headed to Dirt 5. The crazy track builder was one of the new features added to the game that was due to launch on October 16. Sadly, as of this morning, developers Codemaster have confirmed that the game has been delayed once again.

Fortunately, it's only a short delay this time, with the Standard Edition of the game now releasing on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 6. Players who purchase the digital-only Amplified Edition will still receive access to their copy three days earlier on November 3.

Codemasters confirmed that the game is still coming to both PS5 and Xbox Series X later this year, before launching on Google Stadia at some point in early 2021.

The team are clearly disappointed by the delay, despite it being less than a month, as in their statement they say:

"It sucks, we know. Seriously, we can't thank everyone enough for your support and excitement around DIRT 5, even since its reveal back in May. The positive feedback we've received from hands-on preview sessions has blown us away, too. The start line is now a little further away, but it's still very much in sight"

The delay has been implemented to ensure that the current-gen versions of Dirt 5 launch in a much closer time frame to its next-gen counterparts. Codemaster has also previously confirmed and then reiterated in today's statement that players who purchase Dirt 5 on either PS4 or Xbox One will still gain access to the relevant next-gen version of the game, free of charge, on launch.

Players can expect new Dirt 5 information and videos between now and the November 6 launch date as in a separate tweet, the developers stated that "we'll make sure to bring you loads more news and footage to keep you going to November."

Super Mario 3D All-Stars Features Music Player With 175 Tracks Available

Super Mario 3D All-Stars

Last week, Nintendo announced a bunch of Mario things to coincide with Super Mario 35th Anniversary. One of those things was Super Mario 3D All-Stars which brings remastered versions of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. We also saw a bunch of Japanese commercials for the bundle. Well, if you're a fan of the music in any of the mentioned games, get yourself excited.

Nintendo, in a tweet earlier this morning, revealed that Super Mario 3D All-Stars will feature over 170 songs from the games that will be playable through the in-game music player. Sure, it's not a physical-disc or collection of MP3 downloads, but at least you get to listen to them all. The full track-list hasn't been revealed, which with over 170 tracks isn't at all surprising. Athough the official tweet below does tease one track, "Good Egg Galaxy" from Super Mario Galaxy.

What's more, the official website has a section for the music player feature. It details that there are exactly 175 tracks to listen too, with six tracks to preview on the site itself. It's also revealed that you won't need to have your screen on as the game will continue playing the music even with the screen off.

It's worth noting that Super Mario 3D All-Stars is launching on September 18, but it'll only be available for a limited time and of course, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.

Xbox Academy Is a Free Online Game Development Workshop By Microsoft, Register Now

Xbox Academy

Microsoft has provided a great opportunity for those who love to get involved in the process of game development in the future. Xbox Academy is a free online workshop for game development tutorials that are set to be held next week on September 12 and September 13.

Announced as an opportunity to "inspire the next generation of games creators, and to give them an insight into game design and development," Microsoft runs the Xbox Academy workshop with some veterans from Playground Games, Games London, and East London Arts and Music. The 90-minute online session will focus on the basics of game design and the whole process of developing games. You will also get to learn how to use developer kits like Unity to give birth to your wildest ideas.

Maria Lee and Ryan Greene, senior producer and senior game designer from Playground Games, along with Curtis Le Blanc, director of games from East London Arts and Music, will present the show and talk about their most useful experiences in game development. Moreover, Phil Graham-Koranteng from Microsoft Store's training team will join the presenting team as well. Maria Lee has been an art producer at Playground Games for over a year and recently has become the senior producer at the studio.

The workshop will be available at four different times on September 12 and September 13. The number of participants is limited, which means you should register as soon as you can if you want to take part in Xbox Academy next week.

Before the beginning of the show, you will need to download the latest version of the Unity engine along with its 3D Game Kit resource files in order to follow the development steps along with the presenters.

Last but not least, attendees at the Xbox Academy workshop must be over 16 years old.

Crysis Remastered Will Have "Will It Run Crysis?" Graphics Mode on PC

Crysis Remastered

Back in 2007, Crytek released Crysis, a game similar to Far Cry in the sense that it's set on a tropical island, but it boasted science-fiction elements. It was also an incredibly graphically demanding game that saw PC gamers asking the now-popular phrase, "Can it run Crysis?" Of course, since then more games have been graphically advanced, even seeing the new Microsoft Flight Simulator become the new benchmark. But it looks as if Crysis wants to take that crown back. Sort of.

In a tweet, the official Crysis account has revealed that the remastered version of the game due to be launching this month will have a PC exclusive graphical setting called "Can it Run Crysis?". The new graphics mode will apparently demand "every last bit of your hardware" with unlimited settings. To go with the tweet is an official screenshot of the mode turned on.

As you can see, the draw distance seems to be insane, allowing you to see vegetation all the way into the distance with no quality loss. Speaking of vegetation, there's a lot of it, and with the physics, that means you can shoot down a lot of trees. Volumetric clouds and fog, and rock textures also populate the image and…well, to be honest, it's quite impressive. I'm certainly excited to see the game in action, and if I pick it up myself I'll certainly be turning on this graphics mode to see how much performance it eats up.

I also like how the developer is using something that game is incredibly well-known for and making light of that while at the same time offering impressive-looking graphics for an old title.

Crysis Remastered is heading to PS4, Xbox One, and PC this month. Despite the graphics showcase above looking incredibly demanding, the game is currently available on the Nintendo Switch, and the other platforms were delayed due to leaked footage not impressing fans.

Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Will Feature Microtransactions in a Way That Makes You Happy to Spend Money

Cyberpunk 2077

A recent Q&A session between the CD Projekt president and the investors of the company has revealed some new information on Cyberpunk 2077, including new details around its multiplayer mode.

CD Projekt RED is mostly known for its narrative-driven single-player games. The studio has never stepped into the multiplayer area on a great scale, except for Gwent, their card-based game that experienced a quite successful launch on mobile platforms. However, they are going to bring a large scale multiplayer mode to Cyberpunk 2077 sometimes after its launch. Although it's yet to be revealed how the multiplayer mechanics will work in the game, fans already expect something in the scale of Grand Theft Auto Online.

Adam Kiciński, president of CD Projekt confirmed that the multiplayer section of the game will have microtransactions and in-game purchases as it's a "great setting for selling things," though he clarified that they won't treat aggressively with players in this area. According to Kiciński, the developers are trying to add in-game purchases in a way to make players happy when spending money on.

After years of anticipation, Cyberpunk 2077 will finally be available this November across the world. Hopefully, the game won't be delayed again as CD Projekt RED recently assured fans that everything is going forward as planned before.

Cyberpunk 2077's recent trailer from the second episode of Night City Wire revealed the life paths and some of the weapons available in the game.

Given that over two months are left until the game's launch, there might be another Night City Wire episode in the coming weeks or months. That said, if you can't wait for a new trailer, make sure to check out the game's RTX-On gameplay footage that was released last week.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 19. The next-gen versions of the game will arrive on a later date.

Stardew Valley Update 1.5 Teased With Ducks and Trees in Water

stardew valley update 1.5

Stardew Valley is one of those wonderful cute titles that everyone seems to adore, and if you've been keeping up with ConcernedApe's antics online, you'll know that there's a new game from the one-man development studio in the works. But also, another major update is on the way.

The upcoming update for Stardew Valley has been once again teased on Twitter with an official screenshot, this time showing off a bunch of new additions. One feature that's instantly noticeable is that trees appear to be slightly submerged in the water, pointing towards possible floods or part of a new farm layout. As someone who has played the game a lot, I don't recall this sort of area at all.

There's also a character sitting on a bench, and ducks paddling in the water. But it's certainly no lie that the progress of the update is looking good. At current, there is no official release date currently slated for the update.

Update 1.5 was announced earlier this year while fans and ConcernedApe were celebrating the games 4th year anniversary. What's more, the update is to be a free update and riddled with new content. We've already seen confirmation that the game is going to be getting banana trees and potentially 3 other types of trees. There was also the announcement that there would be some new end-game content and a door to be added to the back of Willy's shop.

Stardew Valley is available on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile.

Super Mario 35th Anniversary Items Coming To Animal Crossing

Super Mario 35th Anniversary

Last week sure was a wild one for Mario fans. The surprise 35th Anniversary Direct dropped and bestowed tonnes of information about upcoming Mario games upon us. Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury is coming next February. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a mixed-reality game that's bringing Mario Kart to your living room and most importantly Super Mario 3D All-Stars was revealed and is releasing next week!

Now the hype has died down a little, it's time to talk about one of the smaller announcements – the 35th Anniversary collaboration between Mario and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Aside from the announcement that the crossover is coming in March next year, Nintendo shared few specifics of what it will actually entail. They do use the words "Super Mario themed furniture" in the quick announcement however, which would imply that potentially they're bringing across the set that has featured in every Animal Crossing title up to this point.

The Mario theme set first appeared in the original Animal Crossing for the N64 or GameCube, depending on where you are in the world, and consists of a range of items that have appeared in the world of Mario. The items range from Green Shells and Bullet Bill Blasters to 1-Up Mushrooms and Super Stars and are a really cool addition to any room. Usually, the items come in 8-bit form, however, in New Leaf, they were styled more after the New Super Mario games.

Animal Crossing games have never shied away from adding homages to other games, with items from Pikmin, Metroid and Zelda appearing over the years. Here's hoping the Super Mario set is the first in a long line of crossovers and with The Legend of Zelda's 35th anniversary coming next year, don't be surprised to see a collaboration there.

Keep your eyes peeled here for any more Super Mario 35th Anniversary or Animal Crossing news.

Doom Can (Almost) Run on a Pregnancy Tester, Thanks to Programming Genius

doom, foone, pregnancy test, pregnancy tester, pc

An incredibly talented hardware engineer and software programmer Foone Turing has taken the often tongue-in-cheek "but can it run Doom?" challenge to new heights. Recently they posted several videos on their Twitter account showcasing a real technological wonder they created: videos actually running on a pregnancy tester of all things, including Doom itself:

It's pretty incredible seeing even that level being run on a tester and foone does imply that their tinkering isn't finished yet, since they plan on having the entire setup fit inside the tester. Meaning someday we may have a pregnancy tester that can run the full game. Currently, this is the setup they use to run all of these videos:

According to their accompanying status update: "The existing CPU can't be reprogrammed and the existing LCD can only show 4 things, so I had to replace both to make any changes. And the current version doesn't even fit into the shell! (although I'm certain it will when complete)." Foone has also stated that once the design is complete, they'll post a how-to guide so others can make their very own video pregnancy test.

They also have the video of Doom running available here to watch, which features the best quality compared to Twitter infamous video compression, as well as the full library of other videos they've gotten running on the above setup. And if you want to support them here are links to their Patreon and ko-fi pages.

This is hardly the first crazy thing done with Doom, even officially or by third parties. Developer id Software released a new patch last month for DOOM Eternal that included a variety of different Render Modes which gives the game drastically different looks, depending on which you choose to implement. One of these is "Retro Handheld" which resembles the original Game Boy's iconic green color palette.

On the completely opposite end of the graphical spectrum is Nvidia's own recent video demonstration of their RTX 3080, which showed off DOOM Eternal. The video shows comparisons between the RTX 3080 and what was previously considered one of Nvidia's most powerful cards in the RTX 2080 Ti. Running at max settings, DOOM Eternal is able to consistently net between 100-130fps during combat while running at a 4K resolution.

Check out our review of the original DOOM Eternal here, which according to the piece "is a drastic improvement over its predecessor in every way and sees the Doom Slayer reclaiming his throne in the shooter genre."

Brutal Force Is The Upcoming Follow-up to Acclaimed Mod Brutal Doom

Brutal Force, Marcos Abenante

Fans of the original FPS shooter Doom found themselves with a treasure trove of new content in 2012 when modder Marcos Abenante released Brutal Doom. The mod added a ridiculous amount of new content and features to the game and was widely praised as the best mod of the year. And now, Abenante is set to release his own original game with Brutal Fate. The game is a throwback to classic FPS games and looks phenomenal. Give the gameplay teaser a watch below to see it in action.

Brutal Force looks to pick up right where Brutal Doom left off. The game boasts "fast-pace ultra-violent" combat. Abenante showed a flair for making guns that feel great, and it doesn't look like that's stopping with this one. The list of weapons in your arsenal is both long and a bit ridiculous. Only in a follow-up to Brutal Doom would see both nukes and sharp sticks being used to murder enemies.

Speaking of bad dudes, Brutal Force claims "an entire circus" of different types to kill. Like in Doom proper, each enemy accounts for the weakness of another, which is why Abenante equates them to chess pieces. You'll have to discover the best ways to tackle each group.

Brutal Force also gives players massive, non-linear levels to explore. Plus, you can even command troops to fight for you. And, of course, the game heavily supports mods. After all, Abenante wouldn't be in this position without them. It'd feel a bit weird if they weren't included.

Brutal Force is currently set to hit early access on Steam in January 2021. Abenante plans for the full release to hit in late 2021 or early 2022. However, that's obviously just an estimate. Hopefully, it hits then, but that's so far in the future, who knows?

Best PS4 Exclusive 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Will Get a Cool Official Comic Anthology (Update)

13 Sentinels Aegis Rim Comic Anthology cover feature

Update: This story was originally published on August 18, Atlus announced on August 27 a kindle version of the 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Official Comic Anthology. Both the physical and digital kindle version are up for preorder on Amazon Japan.

If you've never heard of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, don't expect me to get into the the game's details in here when we already explained everything.

If you clicked this article, already know about 13 Sentinels, and are an anime otaku you probably know what a Comic Anthology is. If you don't, well, basically whenever a franchise, be it a game, anime, a manga, a movie, or anything, launches, there's a good chance multiple mangaka and illustrators who liked it will gather up and do one of theses. Officially commissioned by the IP holder but fueled by passion, a Comic Anthology will be a succession of short manga stories, illustrations, or short novels, all focused on the same franchise. Celebrating the characters with mainly gag-oriented stories, that may or may not include spoilers. It's the entry level of derivative products, so even relatively unpopular and niche franchises can get them.

It's not a secret, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim didn't sell that much in Japan. Hopefully it'll do better in the west. Atlus West is pushing out some good promotion for it too. It's nearly not as much as everything that was done in Japan before the game's release there. But it's definitely more than what Japanese games usually get. Speaking of which, some might say Japanese games' promotion in their native country reveal too much. I wholeheartedly disagree with that. Despite having covered every single stream, trailer and press release Sega, Atlus and Vanillaware pushed out in Japan, 13 Sentinels' story is still incredibly amazing and full of surprises. But I digress.

The 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Official Comic Anthology will be launching on September 10. And needless to say, we're only talking about a Japanese release here. Comic Anthology books rarely ever leave Japan. They rarely get digital editions too, and none was announced so far, meaning it's gonna be a pain to import, especially in Covid-19 times.

The book will have 14 artists in total.

Probably only otaku used to this stuff would read such an article this far anyway. But note that we're talking about Japanese artists here, who are otaku themselves and have no qualms about sharing or drawing explicit artwork of characters regardless of their apparent gender or age. Click on their Twitter profiles at your own risk.

Here's the list of artists participating in the 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Official Anthology Comic:

Some of the illustrators on this list have already published multiple gorgeous 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim fanart on Twitter. Some also shared samples of their contributions to the Comic Anthology:

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will be out exclusively on PS4 on September 22, following a short delay. It'll have Japanese and English voices, alongside subtitles in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German. You can preorder it on Amazon to support DualShockers.
