Steins;Gate Zero Elite New Trailer, Update On Steins;Gate Hollywood Movie

On October 25, Mages held a live stream and talk show event for the Science Adventure Series, with a new trailer for Steins;Gate Zero Elite. However, the game still has no release date estimate or platforms announced. On the event, Mages President Chiyomaru Shikura said the game's development is going well. They're using the same engine as Steins;Gate Elite but upgraded. What's taking the most time is making anime scenes for all the routes not shown in the anime.

Furthermore, Chiyomaru Shikura also gave us an update regarding the upcoming Steins;Gate Hollywood movie. He said he's exchanging daily with the movie's staff regarding the plot and various aspects, but there are many things he still can't reveal yet.

You can watch the new trailer for Steins;Gate Zero Elite at the 1:24:47 timestamp linked below:

Steins;Gate Zero Elite was first announced alongside the Steins;Gate Hollywood movie project on January 26, 2020, during the series' tenth anniversary stream event.

Elite games by Mages are remakes that are fully animated, using scenes from the anime adaptation and new anime scenes made for the occasion. The first one of the kind was Steins;Gate Elite, first released in 2018. In an interview we translated, Chiyomaru Shikura said he wants to make similar Elite games for Madoka Magika, Your Name and Evangelion.

The event also featured three seiyuu: Asami Imai (Kurisu Makise), Mamoru Miyano (Rintarou Okabe), and Tomokazu Seki (Itaru Hashida). So it's definitely worth watching in full if you're a Steins;Gate fan who has some Japanese knowledge. A new sequel for Steins;Gate was also announced. You can read the details here.

Apex Legends on Switch Has Been Delayed to Next Year

apex legends switch

After a new rating by the ESRB, it was looking like we were going to see Apex Legends making its way onto the Nintendo Switch sometime soon. We're now going to have to wait a little while longer because the game has been delayed until sometime next year.

Game director Chad Grenier stated in a blog post: "For those who game on the Nintendo Switch, we're still hard at work on the port, but in order to do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve, our team needs more time. This year has brought on unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we don't want to rush anything out."

Grenier continued: "Switch owners can expect to get their hands on Apex Legends next year. And of course, when Apex Legends does launch on Switch, it'll come with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game."

Even though the delay might hurt to hear, Grenier confirming that the game will come with all of the features included in the other versions of the game is great. We have seen how successful Fortnite was on the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, we do not have to wait too long into next year for Apex to come to the hybrid system.

Apex Legends is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. There has been no word on next-gen enhancements, but the game will still be backwards compatible with the Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Apex Legends will also be launching on Steam alongside the release of Season 7 on November 4.

Steins;Gate Sequel Announced and Explained by Chiyomaru Shikura, Was Initially Titled Steins:God

Steins;Gate Sequel reveal mages chiyomaru shikura

On October 25, Mages held a live stream and talk show event for the Science Adventure Series, with most notably Mages President Chiyomaru Shikura revealing a Steins;Gate sequel. The event also featured three seiyuu: Asami Imai (Kurisu Makise), Mamoru Miyano (Rintarou Okabe), and Tomokazu Seki (Itaru Hashida).

This new Science Adventure Project will be titled Steins; something, the full title will be revealed at a later date. Chiyomaru Shikura revealed the first title for the game he thought up was Steins;God, but decided to drop it, because it'd feel redundant since he uses the words god/kami so much.

Chiyomaru Shikura explained: "Steins;Gate is complete with the original game and Steins;Gate Zero. If we make more, it'll definitely be redundant. But see how Amadeus Kurisu appears in Anonymous;Code? It's linked to Steins;Gate in various ways. In the past, we released Chaos;Head, and thanks to everyone's support, a brand new follow-up titled Chaos;Child. And players evaluated higher the scenario of Chaos;Child compared to Steins;Gate.Steins;Gate sold much more. But it always keep bothering me in my head. So I want to do a Steins;something something. It's fine to think of it as a sequel to Steins;Gate. But it's not a Fandisc."

Chiyomaru Shikura is referencing to the new Anonymous;Code trailer, which reveals Amadeus Kurisu appears in the game. We'll cover that in a separate article shortly.

Asami Imai brought up how Chaos:Child features different characters than Chaos:Head. Chiyomaru Shikura first joked around like he was telling us an urban legend and how it's up to us to decide if it's true or not, if the same characters will appear or not. But then he confirmed he already thought up the plot, and that the three seiyuu present will have their characters in the sequel: Asami Imai (Kurisu Makise), Mamoru Miyano (Rintarou Okabe), and Tomokazu Seki (Itaru Hashida/Daru). He also explained he needs a character like Kurisu in this new game because geniuses like her and her knowledge are needed for the game's scenario to exist.

Chiyomaru Shikura stressed out since the game will be different, it won't be Steins;Gate, but it'll still be Steins:something, and you'll like it if you liked Steins;Gate.

Lastly, Chiyomaru Shikura said it's a different team working on the Steins Gate sequel than on Anonymous;Code and the newly revealed Steins;Gate Zero Elite, though he's supervising everything. So the game should properly release once they're done with these other two games. No platforms of release date estimate for the Steins;Gate sequel were announced for now.

You can watch the Steins;something sequel announcement part of the stream starting the 1:32:00 timestamp linked below. The segment lasts until 1:38:00.

Shutage, the abbreviation of Steins;Gate in Japanese, was trending all ady on JP Twitter following the announcement.

In case you don't already know, fandisc is a term designing shorter games that are sequels to an ADV game (what we call visual novels outside Japan), showing players what happened after the end of the original game. It's 100% fanservice, geared toward those who liked the original game, hence why they're called Fandisc. or discs for the fans. It doesn't mean that they were made by fans. Romance ADV games where the protagonist can end up with different characters often have Fandisc games, containing sequels for each route/ending.

Chiyomaru Shikura teased a big Steins;Gate announcement was coming in a Famitsu interview in August. This is it. Chiyomaru Shikura also explained why Colopl Acquired Mage. He also shared his wish to make a Super Robot Wars scale crossover with every game in the Science Adventure Series. Lastly, he said he wants to make games for Madoka Magika, Your Name and Evangelion.

Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Remake now shipped over five million copies worldwide, digitally and physically. The game is also now the highest selling digital game Square Enix ever developed on a PlayStation platform.

The director of Remake Tetsuya Nomura was the one to propose the original Final Fantasy VII's most shocking moment. As previously revealed, Final Fantasy VII Remake has many new elements to it and Scenarist Kazushige Nojima even explains how he rewrote Cloud for the remake. We also translated comments from Nojima about how Final Fantasy VII influenced Final Fantasy VIII. In an interview posted through Square Enix, Co-Director Naoki Hamaguchi and Producer Yoshinori Kitase talk about their reasoning behind making some bold changes for the remake of such a beloved game — namely why Sephiroth was introduced so early in the game.

We also translated the short film made to promote the remake. Square Enix, meanwhile, is currently working on the second and possibly last episode. Square Enix released a trailer revealing the theme song of the game called Hollow, along with with many iconic moments and returning faces from the original PS1 classic.

Final Fantasy VII Remake finally released on April 10th after a one month delay and you can purchase the game from Amazon here. Check out our extremely comprehensive review of the title here. I wrote a pretty comprehensive beginner's guide for players just starting out (including some handy Materia and weapon builds for Tifa) but you can also check out this incredibly intricate and damaging combo to see why proper character builds matter in Remake.

Vinland Saga Creator Pens Short Crossover Comic for Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Assassin's Creed Valhalla, PC, PS4, PS5, Ubisoft, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, xbox series x, Vinland Saga

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has a surprising yet very fitting collaboration with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga, in which the manga artist created a special oneshot comic for the occasion. You can read the extra comic here:

Both works directly tell the story of the Vikings's invasion of England but from two different perspectives within the infamous conflict in history. The comic itself flaunts some fantastic artwork from Yukimura, and just short enough to make you want more (or at least I sure do).

In the latest story trailer video for Valhalla, Ubisoft gives us a look at what looks to be some of the early game cutscenes and interactions that we'll see in the full release. The trailer centers around Eivor and his brother Sigurd as they look to find a new home in the nation of England. In the process, we're also given a look at some of the various factions and foes that Eivor will have to do battle with over the course of the game. The trailer then concludes by presenting us with a tease of a mysterious group called the Hidden Ones, who seem to play a major role in the story.

Overall, the storyline of Assassin's Creed Valhalla looks pretty straightforward from a top-down view. Then again, AC Origins and Odyssey didn't contain a whole lot of depth at first either, but the way in which those stories grew in complexity over the course of the game was quite interesting.

If you're interested in finding out more of the game, read up on our preview of the title here, which Cameron Hawkins states "looks to have everything it needs to be one of the best titles in the series." We also interviewed Assassin's Creed Valhalla Producer Julien Laferriere sat down to chat about the team at Ubisoft Montreal and their strive to bring the ultimate Viking fantasy all while telling a story with compelling characters and an immersive open-world.

You can check out the new trailer in question attached down below if you're interested. Assassin's Creed Valhalla will release later this fall on November 10th for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia. It will then launch in tandem with the PS5 two days later on November 12th.

Guilty Gear Lore Video Series Aims to Compile Franchise's Full Timeline

Guilty Gear Strive Giovanna

YouTuber WoolieVersus has done what many fans would (half-jokingly) consider a nigh impossible task: he has already begun to compile a full timeline of the often confusing story of Guilty Gear. In the first of a series of videos, WoolieVersus covers the start of the timeline until Guilty Gear: The Missing Link, the first game of the series:

This 30 minute video is a great introduction to the events that shaped Guilty Gear's story and characters for years. It also doesn't hurt that the video series is sponsored by Arc System Works, which means it must be pretty accurate. The release date for the latest entry in the series, Guilty Gear Strive, has been set for April 9th with those who purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate edition getting to play on the 6th.

Previously Arc System Works confirmed that the title will feature rollback netcode after much fan request. Most recently newcomer Giovanni and veteran fighter Anji Mito were revealed in the latest trailer. Leo Whitefang and Nagoriyuki were also previously announced for the title. Two other trailers revealed Ramlethal Valentine as well as Millia Rage and Zato=1. So far we know that the previously announced characters are the protagonist Sol Badguy and Ky KiskeAxl Low and May, and Chipp Zanuff and Potemkin.

During the stage event dedicated to Guilty Gear at Tokyo Game Show 2019, Daisuke Ishiwatari and Akira Katano explained how they particularly detailed the characters' facial animations and how it's basically "3D Sakuga." You can really see that with the tons of different expressions the characters emote during their attacks and supers. At that same event, they also mentioned that the stage change mechanic has actual gameplay mechanics embedded into it. We've translated the full event here if you want to read more.

Guilty Gear -STRIVE- was first teased during EVO 2019. Daisuke Ishiwatari, the General Director, stated how the new Guilty Gear game isn't an "evolution of the series, nor a return to its roots," but instead a "complete rebuild of the franchise." Instead of adding or removing elements compared to the previous games, he described the development as completely breaking it down, picking up everything that made the series charming and unique, and rebuilding it with those components.

Ishiwatari then mentioned that this new Guilty Gear game is a "big challenge which will go head to head against the essence of fighting games." He added that going this route is a risky bet, but they're confident they can pull it off and bring out new possibilities, using all the experience and materials they've accumulated so far. He ended the message saying he believes games are bridges which can connect people, so he hopes this new Guilty Gear will reflect this idea.

Apex Legends is Coming to Steam on November 4th

Apex Legends

EA has slowly been releasing its games on Steam as of late and now Apex Legends is about to be the next title to do so from the publisher. Announced via a news post on Steam, Apex Legends is coming to the massive PC storefront on November 4.

The release will launch alongside the launch of Season 7. EA noted that if you have been previously playing through an EA Origin account, all of your progression and unlocks will transfer between the two platforms. So, I am not sure why someone would need to do this, but if they wanted to switch between their Origin and Steam account constantly, everything will transfer over.

On top of that, Steam players are going to get free exclusive Half-Life and Portal inspired gun charms when logging in during season 7. You can take a look at them in the image below.

Apex Legends

As much as everyone wants to create their own competitor to Steam, PC players have been ingrained in the system for far too long. EA might have finally noticed that with many of its games coming to the platform.

Apex Legends is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.  The game will also be coming to Nintendo Switch sometime this fall. There has not been an official release date announced for the Switch version, but the game was just recently rated by the ESRB for the system, so I think it will be announced sometime soon. EA hasn't announced next-gen enhancements for Apex Legends, however, the game will be backwards compatible on the Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
