Take a closer look at the adventures of Cody and May with the latest trailer for Hazelight Studios and Electronic Arts' It Takes Two.

In this title, Cody and May find themselves turned into dolls by their daughter Rose. Stuck in this new form, they find themselves challenged by Dr. Hakin, a cheesy self-help book on love that is on a mission to help fix their broken relationship. As these two set out to overcome their differences and get back their bodies, this couple will come across a diverse cast of endearing and strange characters.

This title was made with co-op in mind, with the ability to enjoy the title online or in couch co-op with split-screen play. One will also be able to invite a friend to join online co-op for free with the Friend's Pass functionality. The title was designed to mesh both story and gameplay together.

Rekt: Crash Test Review

Players will be able to live out all of their high octane dreams with the release of Little Chicken Game Company and No Gravity Games' arcade-like title Rekt: Crash Test. Should players get behind the wheel, or is this title a wreck?

Rekt: Crash Test Review

A score chaser at its core, Rekt: Crash Test has players entering the Stunt Arena to do mad tricks and earn rewards. Its land of ramps, boxes, and loop-de-loops is at your disposal, and players can earn points by drifting, flying through the air, finding presents, and driving around on two wheels. The longer you do each skill, the more points players can earn – seems simple enough, right?

Using a formula akin to the one found in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is a noble effort, and this title manages to somewhat maintain the same momentum. Flying around with the WASD keys doesn't quite have the same impact as Tony's skateboarding adventures, feeling somewhat floaty. Players are able to stop on a dime with a press of the space button, but it lacks the same fluid nature of the more established titles that are in the space today. More tricks, or at the very least more danger, could have greatly added to the excitement.

That's not to say Rekt: Crash Test should be written off; far from it. The score chasing aspect is alive and well, and racking up points to unlock cars offers just enough incentive to keep going. It is also a race against the clock too, and time extension power ups can be found dotting the landscape. The core gameplay loop is alive and well, and those who can stomach the slower pace will appreciate what this title has to offer.

At the end of each run, players can see their biggest combo, the number of combo flips, the number of combo spins, and their highest jump, among other factors. For those looking to ramp up those numbers, these offline leaderboard stats will appeal to them.

Unfortunately, as a "Crash Test," this title is somewhat lacking in content. Only two cars are available, with one of them unlocked after earning a paltry 10,000 points. There is a practice mode and a party mode with support for up to four players, but we were unable to find anybody online in the case of the latter. Players can also upgrade the speed, flip, boost, and grip of their car, but everything can be maxed out before too long. This release is also lacking in stages too, with only the arena available in this version.

It should be worth noting that the full release of Rekt will feature dozens of cars, four stages, and other additions. As a taste of things to come, Rekt: Crash Test serves its purpose, but it is an overly barebones demo at its core, even lacking any sort of achievements.

Rekt: Crash Test will appeal to score chasers, but the lack of content in this teaser means that it's over before it even begins. It could use a kick of speed, but what is present now is serviceable enough for those looking for arcade-like thrills.

This review of Rekt: Crash Test was done on the PC. The game was freely downloaded.

All Travelers that have reached Adventure Rank 20 or above and have completed the "Song of the Dragon and Freedom" questline will be able to dive into this update.

"Thorny Benevolence" Rosaria joins the title as the latest 4-star playable character, who wields a polearm and the power of Cryo. Loop Hero Review

Announced last December, Four Quarters and Devolver Digital's Loop Hero is right around the corner. Is this endless adventure one worth trying, or should you find a different roguelike? Check out our review and find out.

Loop Hero Review

Loop Hero kicks things off with a bombshell: the stars are going out, and a mysterious necromancer is spreading black goo throughout the universe. This goo consumes everything in its path, packing the power to make people forget. However, you manage to find a bastion of hope in a spot to rebuild. While the goo has made its way to this spot, you can remove it by building up your camp. Even here, there are signs like bags of clothes that hint that that people once lived there. The only way to figure out this mystery is to head out into the loop.

Loop Hero Honest Review

The loop is exactly what it sounds like: a loop. You start at your camp and then go around the loop back to your camp. Along the way, you fight, gather treasure, and build up the area. You don't control the character as it moves through the loop. Rather, you place cards down that provide treasure, enemies, buffs, quests, and other things for the character. You are also in charge of the equipment the adventurer is using. Though simple at first, there is a good amount of strategy as you unlock more cards.

If you control the deck, then why not make the run easy? As it turns out, enemies drop cards and equipment that become vital as you keep the loop going. The enemies gradually get stronger, and you can quickly die if you don't have the equipment to keep up the pace. On the flip side, you also don't want to put down too much; as you get more cards and equipment, the boss meter increases. If the meter gets full before you are ready to take on the boss, you are in trouble. Figuring out the right balance for each class manages to be a fun challenge.

When you die, you are brought back to your base and lose 60% of the materials you found during the loop. The materials are used to build up your camp and eventually craft items. Building up the base is how you unlock new classes and cards, while also making yourself more powerful for the next loop. You can leave with 100% of your materials if you manage to make it back to the camp during your loop run. It proves to be another balancing act: should you stay for more loot, or leave with what you have?

Loop Hero Honest Game Review

As you unlock more cards, more options open up to you; the hero doesn't even get EXP at the start. When you build up the camp and get the village card, you can then unlock quests. With that, you get an EXP bar and can pick up traits for each hero during a loop run. You will eventually unlock golden cards that give big buffs with debuffs as well. For instance, the Crypt will provide you will additional max HP for each creature you slay with a soul. The downside is that you lose all the HP you gain from armor. The fix? Play the Necromancer, who doesn't even use armor, and the debuff is gone.

While the Necromancer is my favorite adventurer, there are a couple others. You start as a knight; easy to understand, and can take a lot of damage. The damage output is a downside, but it is the best class for a starter. The Rouge is for someone who wants to hit very hard, but also not be hit at all. You focus on critical hits and evasion to keep alive as this class. Meanwhile, the Necromancer summons skeletons to do their dirty work, where you concentrate on skeleton level and power with that hero. There may be one last class I have yet to unlock.

One last thing I want to hit on is the difficulty. This game is challenging, as completing a loop and killing the boss takes a lot of trial and error. It doesn't help that sometimes the hero focuses on a target it shouldn't in combat. You also have no idea of what card is coming next. I can't tell you how many times I've had wheat fields and no village to place, only to realize that you can't use the fields without the village. Just be ready for a bit of frustration if you aren't lucky.

Loop Hero does what it sets out to do, making for a fun and compelling roguelike that deck builder fans will love.

Cosplay Wednesday – Harvest Moon's Popuri

Natsume is once again returning to the world of Harvest Moon with the release of Harvest Moon: One World. In honor of this release, Gamers Heroes takes a look at a cosplay of the daughter from the poultry farm, Popuri.

As someone in the scene since 2007, German cosplayer aco-rea turned her attention to Harvest Moon's Popuri in these shots. She stated that sewing this costume was fun and did not take too much time, and that she could use leftover fabric for pretty much everything.

She also got together for a group shot with Elli (amapolchen), Karen (chi-fuyu), Mary (sg09), and Ann (ladydeadpooly).

Do you enjoy a bit of gaming cosplay? Or maybe you're passionate enough to do it full time. Drop me a line at casey@gamersheroes.com and we'll feature some of your cosplay.
