A YouTube Video Details A Simple Joy-Con Drift Fix Using Cardboard

A YouTuber by the name of VK's Channel seems to have found an easy and permanent fix for Joy-Con drifting. The YouTuber demonstrates the fix using a single piece of cardboard. Check out the video below for more details on the matter. 

According to the YouTuber, the root cause of the drift seems to be graphite pads within Joy-Cons not having enough pressure. These graphite pads are responsible for reading inputs from the sticks, and inadequate pressure on these pads seems to cause errors in readings which by extension, causes drift. YouTuber VK's Channel fixes this by placing a single piece of cardboard inside the Joy-Con body, and that seems to resolve the issue permanently. 

Joy-Con drift has been a long standing problem for Nintendo Switch owners, with a staggering number of cases leading to a class action lawsuit against Nintendo. The newly released Nintendo Switch OLED features the same joy-cons, which presumably would exhibit similar problems as well. The fix seems to be working for many, and fans facing drift issues should try it out since it is pretty easy to carry out.


Halo Infinite Multiplayer "Feels Like A Celebration of Halo", Says Lead Multiplayer Designer

Halo Infinite lead multiplayer designer Andrew Witts believes that the game's multiplayer will be a celebration of all things Halo. In a recent 343 Industries Employee Spotlight, the developer shares a number of details on the matter such as how iconic moments of the franchise's past will be featured in the multiplayer.

The developer cites an example of how weapon pods in Big Team Battle are a direct reference to the Halo 2's mission Delta Halo. Its been said that fans can expect a number of number of references all the way from Halo: CE upto the latest entry in the franchise.

"I think that they will really latch onto how much multiplayer feels like a celebration of Halo all up. We've done a lot of things to bring iconic Halo campaign moments into multiplayer. When we were designing anything, we were asking ourselves how this could be a treat for people who know Halo's history. An example is in Big Team Battle, we have weapon pods that fall from the sky just like the Halo 2 mission Delta Halo. As we were describing what the "feel" of these things dropping into the world should feel like, we referenced the satisfying weight of the Ordnance Pods from Halo 4. They had the very crunchy, awesome, weighty sound when they smashed into the environment, and so we added a little bit of that in terms of how they land."

Its previously known that Halo Infinite will feature storytelling through its multiplayer seasons, which might entail a re-telling of the Master Chief story since the first season will be titled Heroes of Reach. Halo Infinite will be releasing in Holiday 2021 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.


Phil Spencer Praises Sony's DualSense Features, Shares Plans Of Xbox Updating Its Controller

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently sat down with Kinda Funny Games to talk on a bunch of topics. In addition to how classics on Xbox Game Pass incentivise reboots, he also compliments Sony for its job with the DualSense controller and suggest that Xbox fans can look forward to seeing an updated controller in the future.

PS5's DualSense controller features haptic feedback as well as adaptive triggers which do a great job at accentuating the feedback obtained from controller rumble. Xbox on the other hand has adopted an "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach, after arguably perfecting its modern controller design with the Xbox 360. Phil Spencer states that the team will do some work on the controller, although he doesn't mention any new things that fans can expect from the controller.

"We're definitely thinking about different kinds of devices that can bring more games to more places. There's probably some work that we'll do on the controller. I think Sony's done a nice job with their controller and we kind of look at some of that and there are things that we should go do."

Phil Spencer also took the opportunity to talk about VR and other accessories, and suggests that the team doesn't have any plans of introducing such accessories at this point in time.


Phil Spencer Believes Classic Games Doing Well On Game Pass Incentivises Reboots

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently sat down with Kinda Funny Games to talk about a bunch of things, with a notable point of discussion being classic games on Xbox Game Pass. Phil Spencer believes that classic games are an essential part of the service, and those games doing well absolutely incentivizes studios to push for reboots.

Basically, Xbox has a bunch of statistics that help determine the popularity of a game on the service which can then be used to ascertain whether rebooting a franchise is a viable option. Phil Spencer cites Fable as an example, whose reboot was easily green-lit by executives within the company since prior entries of the franchise are doing so well on the service.

"Seeing more people playing something like Prey, or Dishonored or going back to Fable and [that] you can talk about those games, for us as we sit back as a creative organisation and watch what people are interested in, it gives us more data to think about things that we might pick up and take forward with new ideas and new teams that might want to go do that.", Phil Spencer states.

Xbox already has a number of legacy franchises making a return, with Battletoads and Perfect Dark being two standout highlights among others. There's still no information on Fable's release, but we're hoping to hear from Playground Games sometime soon.


The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Launch Trailer Hypes Remastered Release

Reviews have started going live for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD with the remaster releasing soon for Switch. Nintendo has a new trailer hyping up the launch and should contain plenty of familiar tropes for fans. These range from solving puzzles and navigating perilous traps in dungeons to battling all kinds of foes.

As the first story in The Legend of Zelda timeline, Skyward Sword sees Link journeying to the surface to rescue his childhood friend Zelda (though there's plenty of navigation in the skies as well). The HD release features higher resolution visuals and a new button-only control option for those playing on Switch Lite or using a Switch Pro controller.

There are also a variety of other improvements, from skipping cutscenes and fast-forwarding dialogue to autosave and free camera control. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is out on July 16th for the Nintendo Switch. Check out the first review for the same here.


Chernobylite Story Trailer Focuses on Igor

The Farm 51's first person survival RPG Chernobylite has received a new story trailer, placing the focus on its protagonist Igor. While it's already known that he came to the Exclusion Zone to search for his beloved Tatiana, not everything is as it seems. Check it out below.

For the most part, an entity – which may be his inner thoughts – hounds Igor, doubting his intentions and questioning the very reasons he came back. The player will apparently need to make some tough choices which extend to "changing the past." As it stands, Chernobylite already offers quite a lot to manage as you explore the Zone with different squadmates, managing your relationships and equipment, and doing your best to survive.

Currently available in Steam Early Access, Chernobylite releases in full on July 28th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will launch for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 later this year. The final release includes new content like the "Final Heist". Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.


Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights Announced for iOS and Android

Following the release of Bravely Default 2 for the Nintendo Switch in February, a new Bravely Default title is in development for iOS and Android. Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights is a free to play title with in-app purchases for items and as showcased by the reveal trailer, utilizes the Brave and Default combat system. Check it out below.

Though the aesthetic most closely resembles Bravely Default 2, Brilliant Lights is an original story which sees several worlds throughout the series crossing over. Of course, along with familiar characters, players can also expect some new ones to also appear. The combat system has also been described as optimized for smartphones but more details have yet to be revealed.

Square Enix also confirmed in its press release that the Bravely Default series has crossed three million shipments and digital sales worldwide since the first game launched in 2012. A release window for Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights hasn't been provided yet so stay tuned for more details in the coming months.


"Multiple" PlayStation Games Are Coming to PC, but Bloodborne is Not One of Them, Insider Says

Sony is clearly intent on bringing many of its PlayStation exclusive games to PC, and PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has previously said that the company has "a whole slate" of PC ports planned to follow in the footsteps of Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone.

A recent tweet by insider Lance McDonald – who's proven to be credible with information in the past, especially when it comes to FromSoftware games – claims that "multiple" exclusive PlayStation games are coming to PC that he is aware of- sadly, Bloodborne is not one of them. Bloodborne is, of course, one of the most highly requested PC ports in the PlayStation catalog, so this should doubtless come as a disappointment to many fans.

PlayStation's Steam creators page has previously suggested that Sony has several PC ports currently in the pipeline. The next in line, it seems, is going to be Uncharted 4, though Sony has made no official announcement on that since letting it slip in a fiscal presentation earlier this year.


FIFA 22's File Size on Xbox Series X/S Will be 50 GB

EA Sports has announced FIFA 22and even with the game touting what's looking like impressive new tech with HyperMotion Technology (on a few systems at least), the publisher has made a number of decisions with the game that haven't gone down well with the masses. Even so, with the game's launch in just a few months, we're likely going to receive plenty more details on it in the coming weeks.

One of those details, pertaining to the game's file size, has been made available. Thanks to the game's listing on the Microsoft store, we know that on both, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, it will have a file size of about 50 GB. The two versions having the same file size is a little surprising, especially given that the Xbox Series X/S version is going to have a notable leg up over the Xbox One version, technically speaking. Probably you can expect similar file sizes on PlayStation consoles.

FIFA 22 launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia, and Nintendo Switch on October 1. On Xbox Series X/S and PS5, the game is going to cost $70. Meanwhile, only the next-gen and Stadia versions of the game will have the new flagship improvements- sorry PC players (for the second year in a row). Meanwhile, unsurprisingly, the Switch is once again getting a "Legacy Edition" release.


Stadia Developers Will Get a Cut of Stadia Pro Revenue Based on How Much Players Play Their Games

During the recent Stadia keynote at the Google for Games Developer Summit (as reported by Gamasutra), Google shared new policies that it's enacting for its cloud-based subscription service that are geared towards making the platform more developer-friendly.

The first of these, frankly, is a little concerning. Google has confirmed that going forward, all developers who choose to make their games free on the paid Stadia Pro subscription will get 70% of the revenue generated by Stadia Pro, though this is something that will be decided based on playtime. In other words, the more a game is being paid, the more a developer gets paid, so if a game is being played more, the developer is going to get a larger share of that 70% piece of the Stadia Pro revenue pie.

It's a decision that seems a little misguided, honestly, because if a game on the scale of, say, Red Dead Redemption 2 or Assassin's Creed Odyssey should be made available via Stadia Pro, it is pretty much guaranteed to make more money than smaller indie titles.

On the other hand, another change that Google is enacting that should be much better received is an increase in the revenue developers and publishers get from the sales of their own games. Starting in Q4 2021, developers will get 85% of all revenue that their games generate on Stadia, as opposed to the 70% industry-wide standard on most other platforms.

That said, there are a few caveats here as well. Similar to Android's Play Store and iOS' App Store, Google is putting a cap of $3 million on the total revenue generated, and if that cap is passed, the revenue cut will go back down to 70%, with Google taking 30% of the share. Additionally, this revenue cut policy is only going to be in place for a limited time- from Q1 2021 to the end of 2023. It will also only apply to "newly signed games", which presumably means that games that are already available on Stadia will not get the same treatment.

While the likes of Steam, Nintendo, and PlayStation all abide by the 70/30 industry-wide standard revenue sharing model, different models have been become quite commonplace of late. The first notable platform to adopt the 88/12 model was, of course, the Epic Games Store, but recently, Microsoft also put the that model in place for the Windows Store on PC, while reports have suggested that they could be doing the same with Xbox as well.
