Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Releases on February 22 2022 – New Content, Weapon Type and More Revealed

Bungie has a showcase scheduled for today to reveal new details about Destiny 2's upcoming expansion The Witch Queen. Though the listing has since been pulled, Reddit user pawnoz managed to capture images of it, including the release date – February 22nd 2022.

Some new gameplay elements have also been revealed like the Glaive which unleashes melee combos and projectiles along with being able to place an energy shield.

Players can also craft their own custom weapons with unique mods, shaders and stats. Pre-order bonuses include a Throne World Exotic Ghost Shell, Enigma Exotic emote and a new emblem. Meanwhile, the Digital Deluxe Edition contains an Exotic Sparrow, Exotic SMG (with catalyst and ornament), passes for Season 16 to 19 and access to two Dungeons in Year 5.

The showcase takes place later today at 9 AM PT so stay tuned for official details and a possible new trailer.

The Medium Won't Be Available with PS Plus Upon PS5 Launch, Contrary to Rumours

The Medium launched for Xbox Series X/S and PC earlier this year, but with its timed exclusivity coming to an end, it'll also be launching for PS5 in September. To set the record straight, however, developer Bloober Team has clarified some things about the game's PS5 launch.

A recent leak has claimed that The Medium (alongside Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 and Haven) will be free to PlayStation Plus subscribers upon launch. However, Bloober Team CMO Tomasz Gawlikowski recently took to Twitter to confirm that the rumours are false, with Bloober Team stating the same via its Twitter account. So if you were planning to play The Medium on PS5 at launch, you're just gonna have to buy it.

It launches for PS5 on September 3. In the meantime, check out this trailer to learn more about how the game will leverage the DualSense's features. Stay tuned for more updates.

Super Resolution on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Will Allow Smaller Teams to Better Optimize their Games, Says Dev

AMD's supersampling tech FidelityFX Super Resolution has already added support for plenty of games on PC so far, and results in its early days have been pretty solid by and large. Eventually (hopefully sooner rather than later) Super Resolution will be making its way over to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as well, and several developers have spoken about the impact they expect it to have.

Another developer who's spoken positively about Super Resolution is White Paper Games' Pete Bottomley, who's serving as game designer for the upcoming story-driven mystery adventure Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View. Speaking in a recent interview with GamingBolt, Bottomley said that Super Resolution's going to be helpful in several ways. Not only does he expect it to make optimization easier for smaller development teams, he also feels it's going to help older games achieve better visuals and performance as well, without too much effort from their developers.

"Firstly, very visually intense games created by small teams will have more tools at their disposal to help get their games running to a better visual quality with less graphics programming needed," Bottomley said. "Obviously you always want to optimize the GPU as much as you can, but sometimes small teams can struggle with this so having extra levers will help in that respect. It also helps older games run at their best possible visual bar without needing to go back and change too much of the content which maintains the long tail of accessing the games later in cycles."

Where PC is concerned, quite a few major games have already added support for Super Resolution, including the likes of DOTA 2, Godfall, Resident Evil Villageand more, with more upcoming titles already have confirmed support for the tech, such as Far Cry 6 and Forspoken.

White Paper Games' Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC this Fall. Our full interview with its developers will be live soon, so stay tuned for that.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Tops UK Physical Sales Chart on Debut

Gfk has revealed the best-selling physical titles in the UK for the week ending August 21st and Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is in first place. Though it also released for PS4, the PS5 version netted 91 percent of all sales according to GamesIndustry.biz. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart saw its sales increased by 105 percent week-on-week and has gone from 10th to second place.

Similarly, a 92 percent increase in sales for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales saw it take the number 3 spot for the week. Though the previous chart-topper Mario Kart 8: Deluxe only had a four percent decrease in sales week-on-week, it dropped to fourth simply due to the popularity of PlayStation's titles. Interestingly, Madden NFL 22 debuted in 19th place with launch week sales being 47 percent lower than last year's version.

As for Hades, it dropped to 23rd place following a 52 percent decrease in sales. Marvel's Avengers, despite seeing sales increased by 78 percent, only managed to hit 11th place. Check out Gfk's top-ten best-selling titles below.

Life is Strange: True Colors Gameplay Showcases First 15 Minutes

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection may have been delayed to early 2022 but Deck Nine's Life is Strange: True Colors is still surging ahead with its release. Following last week's gameplay video, IGN has showcased the first 15 minutes of the story. It sees Alex making her way to Haven Springs, being reunited with her brother Gabe and using her power to see his feelings.

As with previous protagonists, Alex has her own unique power – she can see the emotions of different characters, denoted by different colors. This allows her to hear their thoughts and, if the emotions are strong enough, previous memories. By using this power, Alex will venture through Haven Springs and attempt to solve a tragic death.

Life is Strange: True Colors is out on September 10th for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. It's also coming to Nintendo Switch at a later date. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming weeks.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard's Alpha Start Up Screen Looks To Lack Activision Logo

Much like last year, the annual Call of Duty was revealed later than usual, but we got our first look at Vanguard not long ago. While it's generally an exciting time for games, and it will no doubt be the biggest game of the year as per usual for the franchise, its parent company has been in the midst of a firestorm of PR as of late. While the large part of that has been around the Blizzard part of Activision-Blizzard, the Activision side of things has not escaped as allegations of sexual assault, hostile workplaces, gender discrimination, and more currently dog the company. It also seems like maybe Activision wants you to kind of forget about them, at least for their key series.

As seen below, and also confirmed by VGC, it seems the Activision logo will not appear on the boot up screen to the game's upcoming alpha. This seems to be in a similar vein to the logo being totally absent from the game's reveal trailer, instead opting for the phrasing, "Call of Duty Presents." Considering how basically every Activision studio is working on Call of Duty in some capacity, maybe the plan is just to rebrand themselves as the literal Call of Duty publisher.

Call of Duty: Vanguard will release on November 5th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. The Alpha is expected to go live on August 27th for PS5 and PS4.

Resident Evil Village's PC Version To Get New Patch Focusing On CPU And Graphical Issues

Earlier this year, we got the release of Resident Evil Village, the latest mainline game in Capcom's seemingly eternal survival horror series. The game, alongside the latest Monster Hunter, helped to see major profits for the publisher, and was largely well received. However, the game wasn't without some technical hiccups on the PC side, as that port shipped with some issues. Capcom has been doing some patchwork, and now more is set to come soon.

In a tweet from the official account, they detailed a new patch set to release on August 24th. There isn't a lot of details here, most likely more will come in official patch notes when it goes live, but it will apparently address problems with certain CPUs launching the game and graphical touch ups. This follows a previous patch that modified the Denuvo DRM for improved performance. This is part of an ongoing effort to resolve lingering issues around the PC version.

Resident Evil Village is available on PC via Steam, with the patch set to go live on August 24th. The game is also available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Stadia.

Death Stranding Director's Cut – Extended Gameplay Showing Confirmed for Gamescom Opening Night Live

With Death Stranding Director's Cut launching in about a month, it's getting to the point where we need to see a bit more of it soon- and sure enough, Hideo Kojima has been working on a trailer of the game for some time. It seems we'll be getting a look at that trailer soon.

Gamescom Opening Night Live will feature "an extended look" at Death Stranding Director's Cut gameplay, as confirmed by the show's producer and host Geoff Keighley. Given the frequency with which Kojima's games show up at Keighley's shows, this doesn't come as much of surprise, especially with the game's launch not too far away.

Quite a few other games have also been confirmed for Gamescom Opening Night Live, including the likes of Sifu, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagathe next Saints RowCall of Duty: Vanguardand more. The show will be two hours long, and feature over thirty updates and announcements in total.

Death Stranding Director's Cut launches for PS5 on September 24.
