Bastion Will Be Wildly Different In Overwatch 2

After being announced in 2019, Overwatch 2 faded into the shadows and has only reemerged a couple of times for little announcements and details. Blizzard now appears to be shining the spotlight on this highly anticipated sequel again with two deep looks at how some of its heroes are being reworked.

A few days ago, Blizzard released a video (below) that shows how Somra is changing for the sequel. Her hack can still disable hero abilities, and she can also use it to reveal their location to her teammates. More impressive yet, Sombra can hack while being in stealth mode.

Sombra still looks like she plays in a similar way to her Overwatch 1 potential, but that may not be the case for Bastion. In a new video (above), Blizzard shows us that this adorable robot will play quite differently. Bastion's Ultimate attack is now an artillery strike. When activated, Bastion locks to the ground and unleashes a long-range barrage that the player manually pinpoints on the map from an overhead perspective.

Bastion can no longer self-repair, meaning a healer will need to be nearby. Bastion has a little more firepower now, and can launch a tactical grenade that can bounce off of walls and stick to enemies. The grenade has a large radius and can do serious damage when a team is trying to stand on a point for capture. Bastion's recon weapon also has zero spread and can function like a sniper rifle (just without a scope). Finally, Bastion can move while in sentry mode to deal rolling death, but it comes at a price – Bastion can only stay in this form for eight seconds and it has a 10-second cooldown after popping out of it.

We still don't know when Overwatch 2 will hit, but Blizzard's move to release more information could signal that date is drawing near. Our guess is early 2022.

Rumour: Game Boy And Game Boy Color Games Still Expected For Switch Online

And could be part of the "current" service.

Nintendo lifted the lid on a new tier of Switch Online retro offerings this week. The new 'Expansion Pack' will be comprised of a "collection" of Nintendo 64 and Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) titles.

So, what about those rumoured handheld systems for Nintendo's online service? While there's no sign of them, Eurogamer's news editor, Tom Phillips, has now shared a bit of an update on Twitter - suggesting Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles are still on the way.

Guide: Best Castlevania Games On Nintendo Consoles

Far from a miserable pile.

In honour of the series' 35th anniversary — yes, it's 35 years since Castlevania first launched in Japan on the Famicom Disk System on 26th September 1986 — we're republishing our ranked list of every Castlevania game on Nintendo consoles. Enjoy!

The Castlevania series has a rich history on Nintendo consoles ever since the original game came first to the Japanese Famicom Disk System way back in 1986, and then to the NES a year later. There may be a significant release or two from Konami's vampire-killing catalogue still missing from Nintendo platforms (we're looking at you, Symphony of the Night), but the vast majority of the series can be found on Nintendo consoles.

Bayonetta 3 Might Have Borrowed A Mechanic From Platinum's Cancelled Xbox Exclusive Scalebound

And the links don't end there...

The Bayonetta 3 Nintendo Direct trailer began like a scene out of Astral Chain and ended up looking more like something from PlatinumGames' cancelled action-RPG Xbox project, Scalebound.

Why, though? As highlighted by former Scalebound creative producer, JP Kellams on Twitter - it's quite possibly because Bayonetta 3's director, Yusuke Miyata, was the lead designer of the axed Xbox exclusive.

Netflix announces The Witcher Season 3, a new Witcher anime movie, and more

It's been about a year since we first heard that The Witcher might be getting renewed for a third season, and Netflix has finally confirmed it: Henry Cavill's Geralt will be gracing your screens again once Season 2 is over.

It's a good time to be a Witcher fan; at Netflix's Tudum fan event, the streaming giant announced a whole slate of upcoming Witcher content – including another anime movie, and (oddly) a series dedicated to a younger audience.

The timing is, admittedly, a little odd; Season 2 of The Witcher has yet to air, so announcing another one now seems a strange tactic. Luckily, we don't have too much longer to wait for new fantasy escapades, the long-awaited Season 2 will premiere on the service on December 17. If you want to learn more about the upcoming season, you can check out the opening scene of Season 2, or read some updated information about the characters that have been recast since Season 1.

Bayonetta 3 may 'share a feature' with Scalebound, says ex-PlatinumGames dev

We'll never get to play Scalebound, but at least we're likely to see how some features from the game would have played out had the doomed Xbox exclusive ever actually released.

Scalebound's former lead producer, Jean Pierre Kellams, has given some insight into how developer PlatinumGames is recycling elements of the doomed game and making them relevant again in Bayonetta 3.

The former PlatinumGames employee noted in a tweet that Bayonetta 3's director, Yusuke Miyata, was the design lead on Scalebound back in the day, and the summoning mechanic seemingly was a big part of how you controlled your dragon, Thuban, in the title that never made it to release.

It looks like the PlayStation Plus October games have leaked

It looks like the PS Plus free game line-up has leaked for the second month in a row. As per a new rumour, the games coming to anyone who's a member of Sony's subscription this month will include Hell Let Loose for PS5, and Mortal Kombat X and PGA Tour 2K21 for PS4.

The rumour comes from a post on French deals site Dealabs, the same place that the correct line-up for September's games was posted before Sony actually confirmed them. (Cheers, VGC).

If the leak is accurate, and the moderators on the site seem to think it's up to scratch, it'll be the first time we can get Hell Let Loose on console. The title (a multiplayer tactical first-person shooter set during World War 2) launched on PC earlier this year, but it's not yet available on consoles. It's due to arrive on consoles on October 5, so the timing lines up for PlayStation Plus quite nicely.
