| | Sep 29, 08:09 VG247 Latest Articles Feed | | | As an MMO, New World relies on the age-old model of letting players choose a server and locking their characters to said server. This greatly helps MMO developers manage capacity, and it helps build communities when you know you'll be coming across roughly the same group of people every time. This is all well and good, but the issue is that New World has been incredibly popular in the 24 hours since it launched. Yesterday, it peaked at over half a million concurrent players on Steam. Today, that figure has risen to over 700,000. As you can imagine, this has made queue times exceedingly long for some. Seeing as many players want to join the same servers as their friends, this further exacerbated the problem, as some servers were inevitably more popular than others. Read more |
| | Sep 29, 07:31 VG247 Latest Articles Feed | | | Churro Sheep are a bit like normal sheep, but with horns or twisted antlers to add a touch of sass to their undeniable cuteness. Like the rest of the beasts and ghouls in New World, Churro Sheep have someway or another made their way to Aeternum and settled around the area of Devil's Quarry. However, in the context of the different landmarks and locations around Devil's Quarry, Churro Sheep can be difficult to find - here's where you need to look. There are two main problems with completing the Devil's Quarry Hunt quest: Read more |
| | Sep 29, 07:02 VG247 Latest Articles Feed | | | Before Horizon Zero Dawn, and the upcoming Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games was a studio known for working on multiplayer alongside single-player with the Killzone series. The developer has since shifted focus to produce entirely single-player projects, beginning with Horizon. But this may be about to change, as Guerrilla is looking to fill some roles within the studio that will help it get back in the multiplayer game. A number of job postings, spotted by Resetera, do not directly say what project the studio is hiring for, but strongly suggest it will have a big multiplayer focus. This job ad for a senior social systems designer is looking for someone to build engaging social features, and create interesting ways for players to connect with one another. Read more |

| | Sep 29, 06:02 VG247 Latest Articles Feed | | | Microsoft has finally started to roll out Xbox Cloud Gaming – the feature formally known as xCloud – to Xbox consoles. The company announced it was inteding to bring this functionality to consoles last month, and now we're starting to see it become available for anyone signed up to the Xbox Insider program. At its most simple, the Xbox Cloud Gaming service arriving on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S will allow you to stream games and try them out before you commit to saving them to your console. Don't expect 4K functionality here, though; this is all targeted at 1080p in a 'try before you buy' fashion. But there's another, more important application of the service on console: the service will also eventually allow you to play Xbox Series X/S exclusive games - like Microsoft Flight Simulator - on Xbox One, though that won't be viable at launch. That being an introduction to how the game handles progression systems, and what unlocks players can expect. Battlefield games have often had a troubled relationship with progression systems, and many hoped DICE would revamp them for the upcoming game. In a blog post, the studio laid out the various progression systems in the game, and how they're going to reward players. For starters, Battlefield 2042 has 99 standard levels. Over the course of this journey, you'll be unlocking weapons, Specialists, vehicles, gadgets and some cosmetics. When you're done with that, you'll get into S-levels, which reach all the way to S999. This is basically just a recognition of your time, so don't expect any rewards as you climb through the ranks. Read more |

| | Sep 29, 08:58 Game Informer | | | Information about Horizon Forbidden West is relatively scarce – and for good reason. The game is still a ways off, but we've been fortunate enough to see extensive gameplay footage and learn about Aloy's visual/narrative evolution throughout the two games. However, according to a recent job posting, developer Guerrilla Games might be looking to branch out into more multiplayer-focused experiences. Whether this has anything to do with the Horizon franchise or a new IP scheduled for release in the very distant future remains to be seen. In any case, the team is looking to hire MMO experts. According to VGC, two job postings on Guerrilla Games' career webpage stand out the most: senior social systems designer and senior games writer. The former applicant needs to "[Report] to the Lead Game Designer [and] work within a core team of multiple designers focused on social systems and player engagements ... engage players in social interactions to create lasting relationships; where compatible players can create Guild-like groups to explore together." And the latter role might not seem immediately unique in any way. Still, a part of the description reads as follows: "Possess extensive knowledge of stories and narrative design in open-world RPG games, online games, and MMORPGs." Horizon Forbidden West's story takes place in a vast open world. We know that Aloy traverses a crumbling San Francisco, but any other potential cities/locations remain to be seen. Once again, you'll battle majestic, mechanical fauna, but Aloy comes equipped with new tools this time around. Smoke bombs that stall enemies, sticky grenades, and valor surges – playstyle-adapting abilities on your skill tree – are a few examples of the gear at your disposal. If Guerrilla Games does indeed have plans to bring multiplayer modes to the Horizon series, it would be interesting to see how combat changes to support large-scale raids or small parties. Horizon Forbidden West drops on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on February 18. [Source: VGC via Games Radar] |

| | Sep 29, 08:45 Nintendo Life | Latest Updates | | | "I'm the only one who knows how to make this movie work script wise". Last week, Nintendo finally lifted the lid on the cast for the upcoming Super Mario movie, with Chris Pratt's casting as Mario raising a few eyebrows. As you might expect, John Leguizamo - who played Luigi in the 1993 live-action Mario movie – has some words to say about this topic, too. Taking to Twitter, Leguizamo hit out at the lack of variety when it came to the main cast while celebrating the "groundbreaking colour-blind casting" of the 1993 version (which he incorrectly says is the 'original', which seems to suggest he thinks this new film is a reboot). He then adds that he's the "only one who knows how to make this movie work" in terms of script. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

| | Sep 29, 07:40 Nintendo Life | Latest Updates | | | Great Scot! Channel 4's upcoming reboot of the cult video game show GamesMaster has gone and got itself a presenter, as today it's been announced that Scottish comedian, writer, filmmaker and poet, Robert Florence, will be taking over as host when it relaunches later this year. Robert will be joined by Frankie Ward and Ty Logan as co-hosts. Currently comprised of three 60 minute episodes that focus on celebrities doing battle against one another in an effort to reign supreme, the new show will be aired on E4's YouTube channel before being broadcast on E4 proper. We still don't know exactly when we'll get to see this modern take on an iconic show that's been off the air for 23 years now (!) or indeed who will assume the legendary mantle of the actual GamesMaster, but we'll keep you all posted as soon as we have any further information. | | Sep 29, 06:00 Nintendo Life | Latest Updates | | | Chunky DS sprite nostalgia. A few notable gaming systems have a look; for the Game Boy - as one example - that look is pea green. We also think the DS has a look, those chunky character models that are sort of like the N64 but not quite, and the fact that it had such an extraordinarily varied library with these aesthetics. DS mods of well known games are particularly fun for this reason, like this Super Mario Galaxy project. Some modders are wizards at remaking games that actually run on the retro [can we call it retro, now?) portable, and another eye-catching project is Mario Kart DS: GameCube Grand Prix. | | Sep 29, 08:56 PCGamesN | | | Massively multiplayer online games, or MMOs for short, occupy a very unique space in the gaming world. These are games with hundreds of thousands of players every day, building communities within communities, talking in what can seem like an alien language about AoE, DPS, mobs, and more. These communities are often very welcoming to new players, and beautiful moments can arise when groups band together to create their own stories in a world. But for newcomers to the genre, it can be a challenge to get to grips with these new terms and the often combat-heavy gameplay that comes with it. But Amazon Games' New World is a different beast. Not only is it an entirely new world, with plenty of mysteries and secrets for new players to uncover, but it has a variety of ways to play which can ease you into the game without having to get stuck into large-scale PvP battles or epic quest lines. | | Sep 29, 07:33 PCGamesN | | | So, you want some Age of Empires 3 cheats? Whether you're still rocking the original version of the popular RTS game, or have upgraded to the shinier Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, there is still a modest selection of cheat codes you can use if you fancy giving yourself a leg up. There's honestly not many, so this is a very short and sweet guide, but on the bright side unlike using Age of Empire 2 cheats, you won't be prevented from gaining any achievements (as far as we can tell, anyway) if you use any of the codes below. If you own the Asian Dynasties expansion, there is a separate list of cheats you can use there as well. To use Age of Empires 3 cheats is a doddle - simply press the ENTER key to bring up the chat box, then input one of the codes below and watch the magic happen. | | Sep 29, 07:56 PCGamesN | | | Searching for the best Genshin Impact Baal build? Baal, also known as Raiden Shogun, is the main villain in Inazuma right now, joining the ever growing roster of new Genshin Impact characters. The Genshin Impact 2.1 update also introduces Kokomi, the leader of the Sangonomiya Resistance, and Baal's partner in crime, Kujou Sara. Playstation players gain exclusive access to Horizon Zero Dawn's Aloy in 2.1, but she'll be available to everyone in 2.2. Though Baal wields a sword in most of the game's cutscenes, she's actually an Electro polearm user. Don't worry, she still has access to her sword - it only becomes active during her elemental burst. Baal's arsenal leans towards her being a suppport character, however, her abilities still cause problems for enemies without her needing to be centre stage. Without spoiling the story, you're going to need a powerful team to take down the new bosses in the next update. Fortunately, it looks like Baal is going to do a great job in the support and sub DPS role. | | Sep 29, 07:50 PCGamesN | | | How can you get hold of a Minecraft cape, you ask? You may have heard rumours, whispers of a mythical piece of cloth that adorns the shoulders of the most elite Minecraft players. The legends speak of myriad Minecraft capes handed out to the lucky few over the years. Word on the block (sigh) is that capes also modify the appearance of Minecraft Elytra, the magical wings found in end ships, as they occupy the same space on a player's back. Needless to say, Minecraft capes are highly coveted, but they haven't been easy to get. Those who ventured to a MINECON event prior to Minecon Earth 2017 each received a cape; each year a different colour and design. Even rarer still are the personal capes gifted to lucky individuals in recognition of their achievements, like Reddit user u/billyk_ who was given a personal turtle cape for suggesting that turtles be added to Minecraft. Unless you can come up with a suggestion as good as turtles (unlikely) or can time travel back to Minecons past, it looks like you're out of luck when it comes to obtaining any of the Minecraft capes that are currently flapping around out there. You can try on a cape with the help of Minecraft mods, though it'll only be visible to you - or if you own Minecraft Bedrock edition, you can get access to capes through skin packs. There is a way to get your hands on a cape for Minecraft Java edition, though - read on to find out how. RELATED LINKS: Minecraft console commands, Minecraft skins, Minecraft mods |
| | Sep 29, 07:43 PCGamesN | | | Genshin Impact's current update is nearing the end of its cycle, so it's time to get a peep at what's on the horizon for the popular anime game. Developer Mihoyo has revealed on Twitter that it's hosting a livestream at the end of the week to preview what's coming in update 2.2. Genshin Impact's 2.2 livestream kicks off on October 3, 2021 at 8am UTC-4, which translates to 5am PT / 8am ET / 1pm BST. We don't have a stream link to share right now, though Mihoyo says the live broadcast will happen on the game's Twitch channel - we're sure there will be plenty of Genshin Impact codes, too. Leaks have been harder to find ahead of the event as usual, but there are a few, alongside some teases. Mihoyo has been revealing titbits on Twitter about Thoma, a housekeeper from Mondstadt who lives in Inazuma, looking after the Kamisato Clan. In terms of playstyle, he uses a pyro polearm and can create barriers to protect his teammates. Thoma also appears in the promotional image for the stream, so it looks like he may get a banner in the game's next update. | | Sep 29, 07:44 PCGamesN | | | The spooky season is fast approaching, and it looks like the devs behind one of the best ghost games around are gearing up to get into the spine-chilling spirit. While there doesn't seem to have been an official announcement as such, it looks like Phasmophobia has got a Halloween update on the way, with some kind of "nightmare difficulty" in tow. That's according to a new addition to the horror game's public Trello board, in which Kinetic Games posts some details about what's in the Phasmophobia development pipeline at any one time. A new card just added lists a "Halloween update" as in progress, which you can see here. Sadly, there's very little detail about what the update will bring right now, with most of the points labelled as "redacted", so it seems the devs want to keep plenty of cards close to their chest on what the patch will usher in. However, there is something listed called "nightmare difficulty". While it's far from confirmed by the entry, this is presumably some kind of themed, especially tricky difficulty mode that'll make tackling the game's ghosts and ghouls all the more, well, nightmarish, when Halloween rolls around. Though, we'll have to wait for more news on what this is, exactly. RELATED LINKS: The best horror games on PC, The best VR games |
| | Sep 29, 07:41 PCGamesN | | | The Kar98k is the most popular sniper rifle among high skill Warzone players and it's easy to see why. When you compare the Kar98k to the rest of the Warzone sniper rifles, this bolt-action rifle is highly mobile yet it boasts the same terrifying one-shot kill potential to fully armoured players. Of course this comes with a heap of caveats that ensure this marksman rifle isn't downright overpowered. For starters, the Kar98k has some significant damage drop-off over long distances that make limb and lower and upper torso shots very weak. It also has a lot more bullet drop and travel time in its base form, so you'll struggle to land longshots with the Kar98k. Infuriatingly, there's a reason hackers have made this their new favourite gun, as it will force a player down instantly with a single headshot, no matter how many armour plates you've got in, and with a very fast aim down sight speed you don't stand much of a chance. Our build keeps the fast aim down sight speed of the base rifle, but extends the range and improves the bullet velocity. |
| | Sep 29, 07:12 PCGamesN | | | Searching for the best OTs 9 loadout in Warzone? The Warzone Season 5 Reloaded update continues the trend of nerfing the time to kill speeds on popular weapons, including the OTs 9. While this SMG received large nerfs to its damage output and recoil, the OTs 9 is so powerful that it hasn't affected its popularity. Compared to the best SMGs in Warzone, the OTs 9 features some of the lowest recoil we've ever seen from this type of weapon. This does come at a cost, however, as the OTs 9 has been designed to use relatively small magazines. Our loadout focuses on the SMG's strengths, ensuring the weapon has extremely low recoil while extending the damage range to make the OTs 9 effective from further distances. To unlock the OTs 9, you must complete the following challenge: using SMGs, kill two or more players rapidly in 15 different completed matches. The easiest way to do this in Warzone is to play Plunder - this mode allows players to quit mid-match once you have secured a double kill. If you can find players easily, this method shouldn't take longer than an hour at most. Alternatively, purchase the Inside Job weapon bundle in the store for 1200 CoD Points. |
| | Sep 29, 07:05 PCGamesN | | | Want to know what the best ZRG loadout is in Warzone? The ZRG 20mm is a sniper rifle designed to take out enemies from great distances, much further than the likes of the best Kar98k loadout and best Pelington 703 loadout. This weapon comes stocked with just three bullets per magazine, but each bullet is capable of downing an enemy from a single upper torso hit. Warzone Season 5 Reloaded targeted a number of weapons with fast time to kill speeds in order to make them less effective. Overall, sniper rifles are in a good place right now which is why they haven't received the same level of nerfs as assault rifles or SMGs. Using the right attachments, you can power up the ZRG 20mm to have the highest bullet velocity and the least amount of bullet drop compared to every sniper rifle in the game. You will first need to unlock the ZRG to use it in Warzone and Cold War. We highly recommend pairing the ZRG with one of the best SMGs in Warzone to protect yourself against flanking attacks. Here's everything you need to build the best ZRG loadout in Warzone. |
| | Sep 29, 07:00 PCGamesN | | | Looking for the best Minecraft texture packs for the Java Edition? Minecraft's low-fi charms were predictably the first thing modders took to 'fixing'. The ruddy textures, while distinctive, are an obvious target for an upgrade if you stare at them long enough. While Mojang has been gradually revamping the aesthetic appeal of Minecraft, particularly with the introduction of Minecraft Ray Tracing, if you're chasing a specific look then texture packs are your best bet. Here, we've included our favourite Minecraft texture packs. There's nothing too crazy in here, as massive visual overhauls tend to be part of larger Minecraft mods that fundamentally change the game, and that's another article entirely. What we have here is a fantastic selection of texture packs that give Minecraft altered visual styles, from the ultra-realistic to the cartoonish, to far out sci-fi and subtle makeovers. There's even animated textures if you want a drastically different look. Not sure how to download and install one of these new texture packs? Don't worry, we can help you with that, too. FM is the king of football management games. It can't hold a candle to FIFA's player-controlled realism and multiplayer modes but, where sports simulation games are concerned, it's the top dog. Sports Interactive's long-running franchise will always be our go-to football PC title, but there are a heap of soccer games available on PC, all boasting their own style, gameplay mechanics, and surrealness that deserve your time and attention. Whether they're an under-the-radar studio game, an indie title, or a mash-up on different sports, there's a football game for every fan… unless you're a Juventus superfan and considering picking up a copy of FIFA. In order to shine a light on these underappreciated classics we've compiled our favourites all in this handy list. So throw on your favourite retro football shirt and drawstring bag these FM alternatives for yourself. For the record, our favourite retro kit is the PCGN-brand Dutch national team jersey from 1976 - all comparisons to Johan Cruyff's footballing career are welcome. Recent dev diaries have finally shown us what the new 3D throne rooms will look like, and this week we're learning more about what you can actually do in them. Are you ready for some petty drama and courtly intrigue? The new expansion will introduce a new type of event called the 'court' event, which is meant to reflect the more humdrum activity of court life. "Similar to random yearlies, court events reflect the life of your court just existing," the dev diary explains, "with all the petty drama and courtly intrigue you'd expect from a medieval monarch's household. They primarily involve characters consistently within your court (rather than far-flung vassals or guests), and often tie into court grandeur and different levels of amenities." These only trigger within the court area, and are completely optional - you can ignore them, and the safe neutral options will be chosen by default when the timer runs out. Duels are also getting a rework, with new visuals, animations, and even dynamic weapons depending on what your character has possession of. | | Sep 29, 06:43 PCGamesN | | | The spooky season is beckoning, which means we're starting to hear about the Halloween-style events developers are cooking up for the biggest and best PC games this year. One of the first we've heard about for 2021 is coming to (the newly rebranded) PUBG Battlegrounds, with some suitably spooky makeovers of the battle royale game's base map, Erangel, on the way. "Trick or treat! It's that season of the year again. To maximise the Halloween vibes, we have finished decorating some parts of Erangel," Krafton announces in the PUBG patch 14.1 test server notes. The map's school, hospital, and starting island areas have been given a Halloween-flavoured makeover ready for this year's most spine-chilling of days. There's a new themed weather that brings "unique moon colour and fog in certain areas", which applies to PUBG's normal and custom match game modes. With the changes, the chance of getting Halloween-style weather is now 30%. Elsewhere, you'll find care package smoke colours have been changed to "Halloween colours" - presumably bright orange, black, and that kind of thing - as well as mummy coffins scattered around the three areas mentioned above. The game's lobby has also been updated with a Halloween theme on the test servers. RELATED LINKS: PUBG new map, PUBG weapons, Play PUBG |

While you're no longer able to hunt animals to craft primal gear via the Fortnite crafting system, you can still tame and attack them. There have been some minor changes to how animals behave in Fortnite in the newest Season. Currently, there are six known animals that have been seen roaming the Fortnite island, each one found in specific locations. While the wolves are predatory and the boars aggressive towards just about anything, both the frogs and the chickens are harmless and adorable. Season 8 sees the return of raptors and the introduction of crows to the menagerie. Join us as we go over every single animal you'll find roaming around the map, including how to hunt a wolf in Fortnite. We'll also give you their approximate locations, as well as all the steps you need to complete to tame wolves and boars, and everything you need to know about raptors and crows. It will be a bit of a wild time, so let's go over the basics of hunting in Fortnite. RELATED LINKS: Fortnite V-Bucks, Fortnite Skins, Fortnite Creative Codes |
| | Sep 29, 05:23 PCGamesN | | | The end of the 2021 League of Legends patch cycle nears, LoL fans. League of Legends patch 11.19 - the second of the MOBA game's two pre-Worlds patches - has left the testing grounds for (live) pastures new, and it's now 11.20's turn to make its debut on the PBE for a fortnight of tinkering and test-driving. So, let's dig into it and see what's coming. So far, we've got some suitably spooky new skins coming up, just in time for Halloween. There are six new styles from League's Bewitching alternate universe line this patch, with lucky champions Fiora, Nami, Poppy, Syndra, and Yuumi getting their own skins, while Morgana gets her Prestige Edition Bewitching skin with 11.20. You can check these out in the New Champion Skins section below to see the splashes and skins in action. As is often the case when a fresh patch hits the PBE, there aren't many balance changes to get a look at just yet, but we do now have some updates for Amumu, Darius, and Shen to check out. We do know that Rengar will be hanging about for some more testing, though, though there's no set release patch for his changes just yet. You can catch the latest details on this in the Rengar section below. RELATED LINKS: Best LoL Champions , League of Legends patch 11.20, LoL tier list |
| | Sep 29, 05:33 PCGamesN | | | Wondering which faction you should pick in New World? New World servers are finally live, and players are arriving on the shores of the open-world MMO. If you're unfamiliar with Amazon's new game, there's a few things that distinguish it from your usual MMO game; there are no classes, you can only have one character per server, and the player base is split into three factions: Marauders, Syndicate, and Covenant. The faction you choose has a big impact on your gameplay. After selecting one, you cannot join a different faction for the next 120 days, and you are restricted to joining companies - guilds, essentially - that match your faction. If you opt-in to New World PvP, you can be attacked by players of rival factions while outside safe areas. You also represent your faction in Wars, 50v50 PvP battles, over control of a settlement. The winner gets to be in charge of the settlement's development and tax rates, and also receives buffs in the local area. So, there are plenty of reasons to pledge your allegiance - but how do you decide on your New World faction? RELATED LINKS: New World system requirements, New World factions, New World release date |

| | Sep 29, 09:00 Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed | | | Let's try action. Let's try action. Let's try action. This is the Deathloop I'm in at the moment, but I'm slowly beginning to think it's worth breaking the cycle and taking the stealthy approach as often as I can. I'm confused, you see. In many of the game's pre-release teasers, we saw Colt bursting into action. Stealth? No no, this is more of an FPS. The music flares, enemies die, it is carnage. But when I actually give action a go in the game, I'm mostly left dead in seconds. Either that, or I meekly duck behind some cover and regret not trying the stealthy approach. And the problem is that sometimes I have no option but to go all guns blazing, and I think, "Colt isn't built for this. He's only a squishy lad." I just think he's a stealth character being forced to break cover when he's clearly uncomfortable doing so. Read more |

Its protagonist is a cute little dude (well, a fox, in this case) with a sword and shield and similar taste in green adventure-wear, and they get to run around all sorts of lush forests, bright temples and more. But upon playing the game, people have already discovered that it's a fair bit tougher than it looks. More Dark Souls, than Zelda, perhaps. Just because Tunic isn't dark and gloomy doesn't mean it can't offer its fair share of challenges, so I spoke to Tunic creator Andrew Shouldice to find out how he's managing expectations, as well as tackling difficulty and accessibility. We also talked about the joy of exploring and uncovering secrets, but we'll check behind that waterfall in a bit. Read more |

A quick initiation for those who aren't RPG diehards - respec simply refers to the process of refunding and reallocating things like skill and attribute points that are common to the genre. Respecing in many modern RPGs is a simple, repeatable process, but things aren't quite so easy in Diablo 2: Resurrected. While you will earn a few easy respec opportunities, once you've used them getting another will be a fittingly grindy process. | | Sep 29, 09:00 PC Invasion - FeedDDD | | | I've always enjoyed beat 'em ups. While not a particularly complicated or demanding genre, there's something inherently satisfying about walking to the right and beating the hell out of everything in your path. Young Souls is technically a beat 'em up. You move to the right while hitting things. The things have life bars. But it's really more of an action RPG. The game is aiming to release later this year, and I got to check out the demo a bit early. Now, I'm going to type words about it because that's in my job description. Young Souls' demo has two sections. The first is a 20-minute introductory segment that mostly shows off the plot. Things begin in media res and show the twins Tristan and Jenn fighting hordes of goblins as a city lies under siege behind them. This functions as the game's tutorial. After getting their asses handed to them on some kind of ass platter, the story goes back to the beginning. The two sarcastic teen... |

| | Sep 29, 06:43 GamingOnLinux Latest Articles | | | Time for another look at what Google are doing with their cloud gaming service Stadia with more new releases and new Stadia Pro games coming to the optional subscription. Firstly, a big one. Fifa 22 comes to Stadia on October 1, which includes the brand new next-gen HyperMotion, a feature that's supposed to make players more realistic with their animations. The interesting thing here is that the Windows version still won't have it but Stadia and consoles will. If you have the Stadia Pro subscription from October 1 you will be able to claim these: - Cake Bash
- Control Ultimate Edition
- DreamWorks Spirit Lucky's Big Adventure
- Hello Engineer - Early Access (available First on Stadia)
- Unto The End
Human Fall Flat will be leaving Stadia Pro so your last chance to claim it is on September 30. If you missed it you will have to buy it in the Stadia store. Stadia has also introduced "Phone Link", allowing you to link up your phone as a touch controller or use it to connect up a third-party controller to a TV. Other upcoming Stadia games include: - The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem - October 1
- The Falconeer: Warrior Edition - October 5
- Far Cry 6 - October 7
- Blaze and the Monster Machines - October 16
- Riders Republic - October 28
- Just Dance 2022 - November 4
- Chorus - December 3
Remember how Stadia got ARK: Survival Evolved recently and the release some something of an absolute mess? People found quickly after release that the developer included console commands, and you were able to turn up a ton of graphics settings and it ran pretty well. By default Studio Wildcard has now upped the view distance and texture quality, with the options menu now having post processing and view distance settings available. A feature that seemed to roll out without any announcement from the Stadia team is a new Public Parties feature. Now you can make a party anyone can join while you play. It gives you the ability to select a game, a description and amount of players needed.

Stranded Deep now has online multiplayer for two people. This is in addition to the existing couch co-op feature. "Explore underwater and on land as you hunt for supplies to craft the tools, weapons, and shelter you'll need to stay alive. Stay sharp: hunger, thirst, and exposure conspire against you as you brave treacherous elements and the dangerous creatures of the Pacific. Live long enough, Stay Alive!" Watch video on YouTube.comAs of yet the developer has not actually released the patch notes so it's not clear what is new apart from hooking up online multiplayer. The developer said it does include a bunch of other fixes but we're waiting on what they are. It's been in Early Access since 2015 so it's been a while now, with updates coming in pretty irregularly sometimes multiple months in between. Still, it's managed to hit a Very Positive recent user score on Steam so they seem to be doing pretty well with it. Originally they wanted it done by the end of 2015 which obviously didn't work out. You can find it on Steam. |
| | Sep 29, 05:32 GamingOnLinux Latest Articles | | | Back in June we reported on a patent from Valve that indicated work progressing towards their next VR headset and it appears the codename is Deckard. Once again coming from VR reporter "SadlyItsBradley" (Brad Lynch) it a new YouTube video. Keep in mind that it's all still speculation, and from what we know of Valve they do have quite a habit of prototyping a lot of different things at any one time and the majority never see the light of day for consumers. That said, a VR headset from Valve that can go standalone and be hooked up to a PC would be a logical step to enable more people to check it out (and hopefully bring the price down?). Sounds like Valve aren't even trying to hide it either with details being included in SteamVR since early this year. For a great many years people have datamined all sorts of releases from Valve, trying to get insider info and often fun things do turn up but it doesn't always mean it will be released. They didn't exactly need to look far for possible signs of all this though, with the SteamVR menu even having a "Standalone System Layer" option. When digging around mentions were found talking about some kinda of Realtek wireless device that Lynch speculates from a previous patent from Valve that talks about having antennas in the HMD to connect to a PC. One point Lynch brings up that mentions the Deckard came from a "Linux ARM binary", which seems to indicate there will be some sort of applications manifest for it. Which hints at it being able to run things itself. Another thing pointed out is the work Collabora has been doing on xrdesktop, which gives the ability to render Linux desktop windows in VR and Valve has previously funded some of the work there. If Valve do a standalone headset, it would obviously use Linux just like the Steam Deck and so it's not surprising that they helped fund work on xrdesktop and it's something we've been writing about previously. Another feature that I personally want to see that was dug up, is speculation about Valve adding in a way for you to calibrate the lenses to help with your vision. Not having to wear glasses inside would be nice. Not something for existing hardware it appears. I would buy a headset for that alone, getting the right focus can be a nuisance. With Valve currently going all-in on the Steam Deck, it's not likely we'll hear anything from Valve on a new VR headset any time soon. Still, it's thoroughly interesting to see all the little details appear. Full video below: |
| | Sep 29, 04:33 GamingOnLinux Latest Articles | | | Another day another Steam Client Beta release and this time Valve has done some adjustments to the Vulkan pre-caching system for Linux. This pre-cache system is supposed to download and then process the shaders needed by a game before you launch it. The point is to have games perform well as soon as you hit play, instead of seeing constant stuttering while it builds up as you play. What Valve has now done is reduce the size of "Vulkan pre-caching datasets by splitting and versioning them according to Proton versions and graphics driver capabilities" and so they will start from scratch for the new Beta. Additionally for Linux the recently introduced PipeWire desktop capture for Remote Play has been disabled by default, instead you can launch Steam with "-pipewire" if you wish to use it. For all Steam users the Game File Verification has been improved so Steam will try to reuse as much of a corrupted file as possible to save download bandwidth and Steam Cloud got a fix for an infinite retry loop for failed background file downloads. |
| | Sep 29, 04:22 GamingOnLinux Latest Articles | | | Netflix announced recently their plan to get into gaming and the first set are mobile-focused games but it won't be long until it's bigger and now Night School Studio creator of Oxenfree has been acquired by Netflix. That's right the Movie and TV streaming service will be continuing to expand it's reach into gaming, with more studios planned to be swallowed up. In the official announcement from Night School Studio they said: Night School wants to stretch our narrative and design aspirations across distinctive, original games with heart. Netflix gives film, TV, and now game makers an unprecedented canvas to create and deliver excellent entertainment to millions of people. Our explorations in narrative gameplay and Netflix's track record of supporting diverse storytellers was such a natural pairing. It felt like both teams came to this conclusion instinctively. Of course, it's a surreal honor to be the first games studio to join Netflix! Not only do we get to keep doing what we do, how we like to do it, but we get a front-row seat on the biggest entertainment platform in the world. The Netflix team has shown the utmost care for protecting our studio culture and creative vision. We'll keep making OXENFREE II. We'll keep cooking up new game worlds.
From the Netflix press release: We'll continue working with developers around the world and hiring the best talent in the industry to deliver a great collection of exclusive games designed for every kind of gamer and any level of play. Like our shows and films, these games will all be included as part of your Netflix membership — all with no ads and no in-app purchases. Stay tuned for more.
How do you feel about Netflix doing gaming? We've often seen service compared to a "Netflix of gaming" but now they're going all-in on it themselves. Games will be included as part of a normal membership so they're in a pretty good position. Just recently they expanded their offering from just Poland to also include Spain and Italy but it's Android only right now. It likely won't be too long before play is possible in your browser. |

Today though PGA TOUR 2K21 brings forth a variety of new options with 3 brand new DLC packs that will have you filling out your bag like there's no tomorrow. Should you be looking to sink a few at the weekend without wanting too much stress or bother, Golf Peaks will provide you with all the shots you need.
