According to a GamesBeat report, however, the reason behind this seemingly unlikely partnership is not hard to understand. The Initiative is reportedly ready to ramp up production on Perfect Dark, after years of prototyping.
Unfortunately, the team simply isn't large enough to support this endeavour. Working on the ambitious game has also slowed down under the pandemic, and made it more difficult for The Initiative to hire the right people to get it done.

Today Xbox returned to the Tokyo Game Show 2021 virtual stage to celebrate the latest regionally relevant news for our fans in Japan and across the Asia region. Xbox Game Pass gets a dose of anime action, supernatural murder mystery, and a tank driving goose. Bandai Namco's stylish action RPG Scarlet Nexus headlines a batch of new titles hitting the service today, which Microsoft announced during its Tokyo Game Show presentation this morning. Game Pass subscribers now have a chance to check out one of the year's best action games.
Scarlet Nexus comes from the makers behind the Tales series and is set in a dystopian "brainpunk" world. You control one of two protagonists, each with their own separate campaigns and both blessed with powerful supernatural abilities and part of a task force of similarly gifted individuals. Bizarre, extradimensional creatures known as the Others have invaded Earth, and it's up to you to stop them in their tracks. In his 8.75 out of 10 review, Senior Editor Dan Tack described Scarlet Nexus as a "stylish and compelling fantasy that's all about the combat." Bandai Namco also hinted that it has additional cosmetic content to the game "coming soon".
AI: The Somnium Files
Another game hitting Game Pass is 2019's AI: The Sominum Files. In this sci-fi detective game, you're trying to solve a woman's murder by exploring people's dreams (under a six-minute time limit) and solving puzzles. You'll gather intel by finding clues, interrogating suspects, and solving puzzles in a murder mystery that comes for the director of Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward.
Mighty Goose
Mighty Goose is a side-scrolling action shooter that launched back in June. As an adorable, bounty hunting goose with an itchy trigger finger-er-feather, you'll run and gun your way across colorful pixel art environments. If you adore geese and love mowing down enemies in arcade-style action, Mighty Goose might be up your alley.
Will you be giving any of these titles a shot now that they're on Game Pass? Let us know in the comments!
Publisher No Gravity Games and developer Creepy Brothers have announced that Creepy Tale 2, a point and click adventure that's sure to bring some scares along for the ride, will spook the Switch eShop on 7th October.
Unsurprisingly a sequel to the original Creepy Tale, already available on Switch, Creepy Tale 2 has you taking on the role of a young boy who must solve puzzles to progress the story and save his sibling. The official synopsis paints a petrifying picture:
Launching today on Nintendo Switch is Astria Ascending, a JRPG developed by indie team Artisan Studios and a host of renowned Final Fantasy veterans.
Said to be "an epic adventure with the charm and pedigree of a classic JRPG", Astria Ascending has players taking control of the Demigods, a crew of eight heroes charged with the fate of the world. Each of these characters has their own story to discover told across five cities, 25 dungeons, and an expected 30-50 hours of gameplay.
A new Final Fantasy-themed racer was announced and revealed during last week's Nintendo Direct presentation and its exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Japanese magazine Famitsu managed to get some hands-on time with the game which looks fine, but it could do with a little bit of a speed boost. Chocobo GP isn't due to be […]
Nintendo hit back this morning on the newly released Bloomberg article which said that Nintendo had begun issuing developers with 4K development kits for a revised Switch model. The company took to its official Investor Relations account to state that the Bloomberg article was false and that they are not supplying developers with tools to […]

This 2021 Tokyo Game Show, like last year's, is an online affair. There is a teeny tiny in-person area with miniscule booths. The public is not allowed in, and even Sony doesn't have a booth. But you know who does? Ikea.
The end of the 2021 League of Legends patch cycle nears, LoL fans. League of Legends patch 11.19 - the second of the MOBA game's two pre-Worlds patches - has left the testing grounds for (live) pastures new, and it's now 11.20's turn to make its debut on the PBE for a fortnight of tinkering and test-driving. So, let's dig into it and see what's coming.
So far, we've got some suitably spooky new skins coming up, just in time for Halloween. There are six new styles from League's Bewitching alternate universe line this patch, with lucky champions Fiora, Nami, Poppy, Syndra, and Yuumi getting their own skins, while Morgana gets her Prestige Edition Bewitching skin with 11.20. You can check these out in the New Champion Skins section below to see the splashes and skins in action.
As for balance changes, this patch we've got gameplay updates for Amumu, Darius, Shen, Hecarim, and - well - a good ol' handful of champs. We also know that Rengar will be hanging about for some more testing, though there's no set release patch for his changes just yet. You can catch the latest details on all these changes in the relevant sections below.
So you want to know about Humankind mods? The new 4X game has been out for a little over a month now, but as of yet there aren't any dedicated mod tools to let you mould the new strategy game to your whim. Developer Amplitude has previously said that it is looking at providing mod tools as soon as it can, although what form these will take is still unclear.
In a development update from February 2021, Amplitude has previously said that it wants to take modding "a step further", and that the first round of tools will let you do things like change values, extra localisation, import new 2D UI assets, change AI code, as well as create new maps.
It's this final concept that's had the most traction so far, and has provided a glimpse of what's to come. Mod.io is an up-and-coming mod platform from the same person who founded ModDB, and it seems Amplitude is partnering with them as the primary provider of Humankind mods. This hasn't been 100% confirmed, but recently Amplitude ran a map creation contest using Mod.io, the winners of which were announced mid-September 2021.
Amazon's sandbox MMO New World instantly become one of the most-played games on Steam when it launched this week (briefly the most), and some of those 700,000 'players' even made it through the server queues to actually play. The devs have been scrambling to meet demand ever since and continue to open new servers, in the past 24 hours opening over 100 new New World worlds. They're also exploring the possibility of increasing the capacity of individual servers.
Fighting against Satan must be miserable. You think you've got one of his minions cornered and then bam, down (up?) comes the hand of evil incarnate. Schwoop, Evil says, as he waves away most of your priest's health bar. Pffft, he scoffs, as he flicks a shield from your bounty hunter to his succubus. Pop, he mouths, as he recharges Bloody Mary's stabbing skill and sends her in for the kill. If this sounds unfair, that's because it is - though fortunately, you're not actually that side of the pentagram. Rogue Lords is a roguelike where the rules and UI elements are old Nick's playthings, and you're the lucky devil in charge of all his toys.
Of course, that doesn't wind up mattering nearly as much as you think it might.

There's an enjoyable, well presented adventure on offer with I Am Fish which undeniably has charm. However, the experience is inconsistent thanks to some questionable controls.
In years to come we may well find that the Earth's surface is no longer suitable to sustain human life. It's then when we may have to dig down, creating new underground worlds in which humanity can continue to thrive. That's pretty much the premise of Underland as it releases on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
