EGX 2021 kicked off today, and while we're not there in person we did prepare a fun hour-long quiz for everyone to enjoy. You can watch it at EGX on the EGX Live Stage at around 3:30 PM BST today (Thursday), or stream it on the EGX Twitch channel.

Alex and I have been around a bit, and love a bit of retro gaming. Dorrani, young and fresh-faced, wasn't even on the planet for most of the 90s, so we thought we'd test his retro knowledge with a little game of 90s video game Fact or Fiction.

It's all in good fun, of course. We take turns explaining a game or peripheral to Dorrani, and he has to work out if it's real or something we completely made up. We had fun making this, and we hope you enjoy watching it.

Babylon's Fall has existed in this weird state where many PlatinumGames fans are aware it's the studio's next big game, but there seems to be hardly any excitement for it. In July, the developer concluded the first of three beta tests for the game.

This was players' first ever opportunity to go hands-on with the multiplayer action game, but even before the test went live, many had a lot of misgivings about the game's visual style, which we got to see when Babylon's Fall was re-revealed at E3 in June.

It seems Platinum took this feedback on board, because the studio has announced a change to the game's look, which should hopefully make it easier on the eyes. More specifically, the game has done away with the pixelated, filtered aesthetic for a sharper, more in-focus look.

If you were curious to know how Valve's incoming Steam Deck manages to do everything it does without resorting to some sort of technological alchemy, you'll be pleased to know that the company has released an official teardown of its upcoming handheld gaming PC.

Before the skilled hands get to work taking all the custom chips and massive batteries out of the console, though, the company spends a good minute warning you against opening the machine up yourself because you "might mess things up, like, profoundly".

The video details a lot of the handheld machine's hardware, and talks brave tinkerers through the process of replacing various components of the console. The warnings of the video's voiceover are pretty stark, and frequent reminders not to do this yourself are commonplace – especially when it comes to messing with that battery.

The Switch OLED launches tomorrow, and no doubt a great many of you are waiting expectantly for your console to arrive on your doorstep. The thrill of new gaming hardware is certainly one of life's little pleasures, but don't allow your excitement to overwhelm you, as it did us.

As you'll know from our recent review, we've had the Switch OLED for a week now, and when it arrived from Nintendo, we literally couldn't wait to get all of our data transferred over from our old console. We followed the transfer guide to the letter and had everything set up in double-quick time – save for one very important thing: our Animal Crossing: New Horizons island.

Rainbow Six Siege Y6S4's new operator sounds like Kapkan meets Ela

While there's no word yet of a Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 Season 4 release date, some details appear to be emerging ahead of its arrival. A dataminer has shared some info that could give us a good idea of the FPS game's next operator - and it sounds like they're going to be a real mix of Rainbow Six Siege operators Kapkan and Ela.

Dataminer Benjaminstrike, who previously correctly indicated Flores' arrival and gear and Year Six Season 1's name, Crimson Heist, ahead of time, has posted some info about Siege's new Year 6 Season 4 op. on Twitter. First up, it sounds like she - yep, it looks like she'll be a female character - is a defender. This season's operator Osa is an attacker, so having a defender inbound makes sense as that'll help keep the roster balanced. It also appears she'll be called Thorn, going by another of the dataminer's posts (below), which additionally reveals some details about het gadget and playstyle.

The new operator will have a "throwable proximity-activated gadget called the Razorbloom Shell" which will stick to any surface, the dataminer says. When an attacking op. triggers its sensor this shell turns red and, after a short delay, "explodes into many high-velocity projectiles", with damage dealt being based on proximity to its blast radius.

How to unlock the LAPA SMG in Warzone

Want to unlock the LAPA SMG in Warzone? Warzone Season 6 has arrived, introducing new Warzone Season 6 bunkers to '80s Verdansk, brand new operators, and two new weapons: the Grav assault rifle and the .410 Ironhide. The LAPA is also arriving later in the season and will join the growing list of Warzone guns. With the new Warzone map on the horizon, this SMG could be the last Cold War weapon to make it into the battle royale game before the Call of Duty Vanguard release date arrives.

The last few seasons of Warzone have focused on weapon balancing - addressing the time to kill speed on the best Warzone SMGs and assault rifles. With the right attachments, there's a good chance the LAPA will be overpowered at launch, as is the case for a lot of new Warzone guns. It's worth unlocking the LAPA right away to try it out in case it does get nerfed down the line.

The LAPA isn't available at the launch of Season 6 but it's coming alongside the Halloween update. Here's what you need to do to unlock the LAPA SMG in Warzone.

Call of Duty Zombies Chrysalax – how to get the new wonder weapon

Call of Duty Season 6 is now live and there's a new powerful wonder weapon in the final chapter of Zombies, the Chrysalax.

This powerful weapon can swap between two forms. The first isan Aetherial axe called Chrysalax Savager for melee fights that can also launch a spinning energy blade. The second is a Dark Aether energy gun called Chrysalax Storm for quickly taking out Zombies at a safe distance. The energy gun also has a chance to mutate normal zombies into explosive Aetherium Crystal bombs to kill swathes of enemies.

Call of Duty Cold War wraps up the Zombies storyline with the last chapter, Forsaken, before the Call of Duty Vanguard release date next month. You can take part in the conclusion to the opening chapter of the Dark Aether storyline and wield this multi-function wonder weapon "forged in the pools of Aetheria within the Dark Aether itself." Here's how to get the new wonder weapon in Call of Duty Zombies.

The best Grav loadout in Warzone

Want to try the best Grav loadout in Warzone? The Grav is the latest addition to the arsenal of weapons in Warzone, bringing the total of Cold War assault rifles up to ten. With so many assault rifle options in the battle royale game, it takes a special weapon to break into the current Warzone meta. It's early days right now, but it looks like the Grav could make a claim as one of the best Warzone assault rifles.

It's not easy to overthrow weapons like the C58 or the FARA 83, instead the Grav differentiates itself in a few key areas. The base version of the Grav has the fastest bullet velocity of any assault rifle in Warzone, and the fire rate of the weapon is equal to the Groza. To top it off, the damage per shot of the Grav is the same as the QBZ-83, making it lethal in the right hands.

Once we optimise the build using the right attachments, the Grav certainly makes a claim for a spot on the best Warzone guns list. The Grav joins the game alongside the .410 Ironhide shotgun in Warzone Season 6. To unlock the Grav in the free battle pass, you just need to reach tier 30. Use these attachments to build the best Grav loadout in Warzone.

Valve says don't, but you can easily access the Steam Deck's gaming PC innards

Since the Steam Deck's announcement back in July, Valve's been relatively open about its upcoming handheld gaming PC. While we've had both an official and unofficial look at the device's benchmark performance, the PC's innards have remained a mystery. Thanks to a new teardown video by Valve, we now know how to disassemble and potentially upgrade the gaming machine. Yet, while the company makes delving into the Deck's depths look easy, it also strongly advises against even popping the lid for a peak.

In the video, a representative from Valve specifically addresses how to change out the Steam Deck's thumbsticks and SSD - two components that could potentially need replacing over time. Of course, while the teardown is quite clearly a tutorial, Valve also frames the teardown as a "why you really shouldn't do this" message that's laced with various warnings. The video goes as far as to warn potential tinkerers against fire hazards, citing that accidentally damaging the battery could cause the mini computer to combust.

Foreboding tone aside, Valve's step by step process actually makes the Steam Deck look incredibly accessible, at least in comparison to other handhelds like the Nintendo Switch. Sure, even unscrewing the portable gaming machine's casing allegedly runs the risk of compromising its structural integrity. However, replacing the included M.2 simply requires unscrewing a shield and disconnecting the drive once you're in.

Twitch confirms that full credit card numbers were not exposed during recent data breach

October 07, 2021 Twitch has issued an update on the data breach.

Earlier this week, word of a massive Twitch breach began to circulate online, with claims of alleged creator earnings information, unannounced projects in the works at Twitch and Amazon Game Studios, and early Twitch development code filling the internet. Representatives of the streaming service first confirmed that a breach has taken place, and have now clarified that some data was exposed due to an "error in a Twitch server configuration change". Full credit card numbers have not been exposed as the streaming service doesn't store full credit card numbers.

"We have learned that some data was exposed to the internet due to an error in a Twitch server configuration change that was subsequently accessed by a malicious third party," Twitch says in a statement. "Our teams are working with urgency to investigate the incident.

"As the investigation is ongoing, we are still in the process of understanding the impact in detail. We understand that this situation raises concerns, and we want to address some of those here while our investigation continues. At this time, we have no indication that login credentials have been exposed. We are continuing to investigate. Additionally, full credit card numbers are not stored by Twitch, so full credit card numbers were not exposed."

Warhammer games – the best Warhammer 40K and Warhammer Fantasy games

Games Workshop has a complicated history with licensed Warhammer games. The company has been quite reserved about it in the past - even despite some very high-profile successes in the early days - but even when it finally started to open the gates more generally it took a while for the quality to match the demand.

Thankfully, things are getting better, and as things get better more Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 games are starting to appear that are worth checking out if you're fans of either of Games Workshops' iconic tabletop settings.

With that in mind, we've compiled a round-up our top picks of games from fantasy land, as well as the grim darkness of the far future. We were going to keep it 50/50 but to be honest there are far less fantasy games than 40k games, and far more mediocre choices at that. We've also not strictly speaking gone for the 'best of the best', although most of these options are considered pretty good; we've chosen notable titles that are worth highlighting for more specific reasons as well.

GTA Online weekly update triples rewards on stunt and air races

The theme of GTA Online's weekly update is a tad racy this week. Rockstar Games typically posts the full rundown of its weekly updates to its Newswire later in the day, but fans don't have to wait - they can get a peep at what's changed beforehand as the crime game updates in the morning.

If you fancy your abilities behind the wheel and need some extra in-game dosh, you'll want to check out some stunt and air races this week as Rockstar has tripled the rewards. You'll also find that the GTA Online prize ride this time around is the Calico GTF. To nab it, all you have to do is finish in the top two in LS Car Meet races for six days in a row. You can also try out the Dominator GTT, Growler, and RT3000 on the test track if you fancy trying a GTA car before you buy it.

Don't worry if you aren't a keen racer, though, as there are other ways to make money this week. The Inch by Inch adversary mode offers double the rewards, which involves two teams competing against each other to move some cargo from A to B. You can also get double the rewards on VIP Work and Special Cargo missions.

Windows 11 bug decreases performance of gaming PCs with AMD Ryzen CPUs by 15%

It's well understood that being an early adopter of new operating systems comes with its share of technical challenges, and Windows 11 is unsurprisingly no exception with a fair share of its own problems. AMD recently posted a support article, as highlighted by Tom's Hardware, which details a bug within Microsoft's new OS that can reduce processor performance by 10-15% on team red's CPUs.

The reason behind this change is due to L3 cache latency increasing by up to three times when running on Windows 11. AMD notes that this can lead to an expected performance impact of 3-5%, growing to 10-15% in games; particularly esports titles. There are also reports that single-threaded applications, or those that rely on a few multiple threads, could see some slowdown.

Thankfully, these problems should be short lived as Microsoft is working with AMD to investigate and resolve these issues with an expected fix due in October 2021. For now, if you're lucky enough to be running one of AMD's best gaming CPUs, we'd suggest staying on Windows 10.

Warzone bunkers Season 6 – all WW2 bunker locations

Searching for the WWII bunker locations in Warzone for Season 6? The Warzone Season 6 update has sent shockwaves around '80s Verdansk as explosives destroy portions of the downtown area. The stadium contained numerous hidden bombs, causing a giant crack to appear across the arena when the explosives went off. Exploring the cracks in the earth has revealed a number of WWII bunkers.

Warzone Season 6 is going to see off Verdansk before the battle royale game transitions over to the new Warzone map. This transition is set to take place shortly after the launch of the Call of Duty Vanguard in November. Since Black Ops Cold War launched back in November 2020, we've seen Verdansk overrun with zombies, an atomic bomb sent the entire map back to the '80s, and plenty of Warzone guns have joined the game.

Warzone bunkers used to play a large role in modern Verdansk, and it looks like they're finally making a return in the latest update. Here's everything you need to know about the WWII bunkers in Season 6, including where to find them and what's inside each room.

The Dota 2 International starts today – here's how to watch

While this year's Dota 2 International tournament will no longer have a live audience, there are still plenty of ways to catch all the action. The 2021 International - the first in two years because of the pandemic - kicks off today (October 7) and runs until October 17. Now, developer Valve has outlined all the ways to tune in remotely.

First up, there's a new section on the Dota Pro Circuit site dedicated to The International, which you can find right here. This will be the go-to place for all live streams of the contest across five languages, and you'll find two viewing modes to pick from when you head to the site: standard and spoiler-free. The former offers the "optimal viewing experience with the latest match-ups, scores, and standings right at your fingertips", while the latter will "automatically track which VODs you've watched and block information regarding unknown match-ups and standings". You can hop between these two options any time.

While the group stages are live, there'll naturally be multiple games going on at once, so you'll find the main stream hosts the "Multicast" - a stream following the most exciting games of the day. You can switch to one of the other games going on, though, by picking one of the alternative numbered options, catchily titled 'dota2ti_2', 'dota2ti_5', and so on.

Blade Of Darkness Worth It 1Blade of Darkness was originally released back in 2001 in the US, as Severance: Blade of Darkness. I'm not sure why the name's different now, but there you go. The original game was developed by Rebel Act Studios, which disbanded after the title failed to sell well. To be blunt, this is a straightforward re-release of the game that just updates it to run on modern hardware. For better or worse, nothing has been changed. But the question still stands: is Blade of Darkness worth it after all these years? Upon starting the game up, I was under the impression that something was wrong. Neither my mouse nor WASD would do anything on the menu. It turns out that you can only select things using the arrow keys and enter. That should clue you into exactly what sort of re-release this is. The awkward controls, clunky combat, and clumsy interface are all very much at play here.
