The Logitech G502 Hero gaming mouse is 50% cheaper on Amazon

Nothing quite beats wrapping your hand around a perfectly shaped mouse, with all the right grooves to fit your grip style. For many right-handed gamers, that's the Logitech G502, with its elongated frame, thumb rest, and more buttons than you can shake a stick at. While it's worth the $79.99 / £79.99 asking price, it's a much sweeter purchase knowing you can get one of the best mice around for half price.

Stocks don't tend to last very long, but while it's available you can get the Logitech G502 Hero 50% ($40) cheaper on Amazon US, making for a slimmer $39.99 price tag. Amazon UK customers can take 44% (£35.17) off, bringing the price tag down to £44.82.

The G502's design has been around for a while, with the original rodent considered the best gaming mouse for a few years after it launched in 2014. This model is an upgraded version that sports the same proprietary Hero 25K sensor Logitech uses in all its flagship rodents today. With one of the highest performing DPIs in the industry, just imagine how many 360s you can do before hitting that headshot.

Age of Empires 4 releases tomorrow, so here are some fun facts about the RTS series

If you've been reading the Age of Empires IV reviews this week, including ours, you might be quietly optimistic about the next instalment in one of RTS games' most iconic series. There's not much to do now but wait for the game to unlock in your region - you can check our handy Age of Empires IV release times rundown if you've forgotten.

While you wait, you could also read up on some funky facts about the Age of Empires series as a whole. Since October 1, Age of Empires community member FloosWorld has been posting one piece of trivia about the strategy games on Twitter each day. They range from well-known things like the Age of Empires II anniversary, to anecdotes about a South Korean release, and how one of the series' original lead designers went on to create Empire Earth.

While FloosWorld isn't a developer or officially associated with Microsoft, it seems they've been doing their homework as most of the fun facts they've shared do indeed seem to be, well, fun facts. We get a peek at examples such as the South Korean boxed edition of AOE2 with fact 19, and since last week the trivia drops have been about Age of Empires IV and definitely check out.

Back 4 Blood hits six million players since launch

Back 4 Blood, Turtle Rock Studios' brand-new multiplayer FPS game, has had a pretty roaring start from the sounds of it. The studio has just revealed that the game has seen more than six million players since its launch on October 12.

That figure comes from a tweet shared by the official Back 4 Blood Twitter account (below), which simply announces that pretty hefty figure and thanks players - sorry, "Cleaners" - for their hard work battling the Ridden so far. It's not clear how that figure breaks down by platform, but we do have a sense of how the game's faring on Steam at least. The co-op game's 24-hour peak player count is sat at just over 32k as of writing, going by SteamDB's data, which puts it in the top 35 games played on Valve's platform today by that metric.

In terms of its highest-ever concurrent player count, Back 4 Blood still hasn't topped Left 4 Dead 2, sitting at 65,987 - which was set 11 days ago, as of this story - compared to LFD2's 162,399, set eight years back. As we've noted before, though, it's very much not a fair comparison, as Left 4 Dead 2 was given away as a free Christmas present from Valve the day before that big ol' record was set.

The best Call of Duty Vanguard STG 44 loadout

Looking for the best STG 44 loadout in Vanguard? The STG 44 packs a powerful punch, being one of the best Vanguard weapons we've seen so far. This loadout focuses on high mobility, hip fire accuracy, and increased fire rate at the detriment of stability and range.

This gun is already in Warzone alongside the M1 Garand - you can unlock the blueprints for both weapons in the Season 6 battle pass. The STG 44 could be one of the best Warzone assault rifles in the game, although it's not widely used as you currently can't customise the loadout. It's also not clear how the ten attachment gunsmith will translate to Warzone when the Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone Season 1 release date rolls around.

For now, though, here's the best STG 44 loadout for Vanguard multiplayer. This setup is ideal for players that like to get in the fight, and while it takes some hits to accuracy and stability - as long as you keep moving, the new ammo attachment and this gun's impressive sprint to fire speed makes it deadly in the right hands.

Former Fable dev's procedural generation tech helped bring Gloomhaven to PC

Last week, the PC adaptation of popular board game Gloomhaven launched out of Steam Early Access, with its 1.0 version bringing tons of story missions, unique characters, a digital-exclusive Guildmaster adventure, and more to recreate the tabletop original. Now Sam Swain, former Fable developer and the programmer behind game engine plugin tool Apparance, has explained how this tech's procedural generation capabilities were a key component in helping to bring Gloomhaven to life on PC.

In a talk at this year's Develop: Brighton conference, Swain explores how the Apparance tool helped build dynamic environments for Gloomhaven PC's dungeons - the hex-based spaces in which the dungeon crawler plays out. This tech is essentially a procedural generation plugin for the Unreal and Unity game engines which allows developers to interactively and visually create "detailed and expansive" 3D worlds. Based on procedural logic, programming, and modelling, it lets devs generate environments and objects - so in Gloomhaven's case, the dungeon spaces, and the items and features that fill them - in an innovative way, with a lot of scope for extensive control, interactive editing, rapid iteration, and high-speed run-time generation.

The nature of Gloomhaven made it a tricky game to bring to PC. The game features tons of rules, dungeon layouts, risks, and rewards tied to players' adventures through the game.

League of Legends patch 11.22 notes – Preseason 2022 changes, Arcane skins

Now that League of Legends patch 11.21 has made its way to live servers, it's time to take a look at what's next for Riot's popular MOBA game. We're slowly coming to the end of the League of Legends' 2021 patch schedule, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty still ahead.

The headline of this patch is the raft of Preseason 2022 changes. Riot says that the tweaks will be available on the PBE for the next four weeks to ensure the team gets all the feedback it needs before going live with the final set of updates in November. The developer also says that things are pretty early, so expect changes to things like icons, item and effect names, visual and sound effects, stat values, and more.

That's not all you're getting, though. Jayce and Vi are also getting some rather dapper looking Arcane skins, while Blizcrank will have a Victorious skin, as victorious is he. The patch cycle has just begun, so there's still much more to come, but we're off to a nifty start.
