These mods turn Skyrim into Borderlands

There have been many great mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that update the graphics, change various parts of the visuals and even bring in features from other games - but there aren't many that completely overhaul Skyrim's visuals to make it look like another game entirely, like one modder has done to make it look like Borderlands.

The Skyrim Borderlands mod - or rather, series of mods - completely changes the game's visuals to give the world of Tamriel a distinctive cel-shaded look inspired by Gearbox's Borderlands series. The mod series by Kanjs isn't complete yet as it's only in beta, but they have already overhauled many characters, creatures, textures, locations, the sky, and even just general clutter so it looks more like Borderlands.

You can find the full list of mods you'll need to download here to get the look working. Although Kanjs admits that it all needs "some polish" the change is pretty striking, as you can see in the video below.

Terminator Resistance Kyle Reese expansion may be revealed next week

Other than a few small updates, Teyon and Reef Entertainment's FPS Terminator Resistance was released basically complete back in 2019 and hasn't had any major DLC released since. Now, however, it's looking like a new expansion may be revealed next week - and it could be based around Kyle Reese from the original movie.

Back in September, Reef Entertainment started teasing that a "brand new story DLC" expansion was coming to Terminator Resistance with a tweet that began "on your feet, soldier". Since these are words spoken to Kyle Reese by John Connor in Terminator 1, many fans assumed that the new expansion would focus on Reese instead of Resistance's Jacob Rivers.

Now a further tease has just been posted by Reef that seemingly confirms that the expansion will be revealed sometime this week - and it may even get released too, as the exact word "delivered" is rather ambiguous. The tweet takes the form of a new mission from John Connor that requests a rendezvous with a team to investigate some missing residents.

Humankind mods allow you to conquer Tamriel, Azeroth, Mars, and the Swiss

Amplitude Studios' 4X strategy Humankind was released just three months ago and only received its first beta modding tools earlier this month - nonetheless, modders are already offering up some truly amazing offerings, including recreations of popular locations like Skyrim or Azeroth or whole new factions... including the Swiss.

Modding tools for Humankind arrived on Steam on November 5, hot on the heels of the most recent Fabius Maximus update. Even though Amplitude confirms that the mod tools are still in beta and emphasised that players should "keep in mind that these tools are unfinished and we are still testing them", there are already some great mods for Humankind out there already.

The most popular mod type seems to be various expansive maps that recreate some well-known locations. Modders have already put together maps based on The Elder Scrolls' Tamriel, Warcraft's Azeroth, the Warhammer world based on the Total War: Warhammer series, and even a terraformed Mars.

Phasmophobia's mysterious Christmas update will add a Summoning Circle

Earlier this month it was revealed that ghost-hunting game Phasmophobia would be getting a mysterious Christmas update, with multiple new features being added to one of the best horror games on PC. Now a few of those features have been revealed, including the intriguing prospect of a spook Summoning Circle.

At the beginning of November, fans spotted a new addition to Phasmophobia developer Kinetic Games' Trello for updates called the "Christmas [REDACTED] update", along with a list of redacted items - only the addition of new Ouija board questions was revealed, as a follow-up to the recent Nightmare update.

Now a few details have been added to the Trello page, so we've got a better idea of what to expect in the Christmas update. The main list seems to be for four new Cursed Possessions, which could be items the ghosts are particularly interested in. The first to be revealed was a cursed variant of the Voodoo Doll, but the most intriguing is the Summoning Circle.

League of Legends fighter Project L gets first gameplay but may still be a ways off

Did everyone know that there was a League of Legends fighting game in the works at Riot Games? It's been over two years since the game known as Project L was revealed and there hasn't been much on it since - but now Riot has finally shown off the project's first gameplay, although it still sounds a long way off.

As part of the final stage of the celebration of Netflix series Arcane, which concluded this weekend, Project L game leads Tony and Tom Cannon headed a video re-revealing the game and showing off controls, a few of the characters, and how it will play.

Project L is a one-versus-one assist fighter in the style of Marvel Vs Capcom and Dragon Ball FighterZ - where the player can call in an AI fighter to help them. The four characters shown off were Jinx, Ekko, Darius, and Ahri, and all were based on their designs in the Arcane animated series. The developers say their "goal is to deliver on the iconic moves that League champions are known for but adapted to work in a fighting game" and showed off Ekko's move set to illustrate, complete with time manipulation.
