The best 4X games on PC

So, you want to know about the best 4X games? At its core this type of experience allows the player to do four things; eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate, and eXplore. 4X games can end up giving players an incredible story as they make the long journey towards the finish line. Many even relish the turn-based focus as it allows players to think before each move, and yet still allow control over vast empires and globe-spanning endeavours.

The term was originally coined by guide writer Alan Emrich in the ancient past of 1993, but the concept of guiding a nation, space fleet, or strange fantasy species across generations through diplomacy, war, and technological progress has always proven to have endless appeal.

We've compiled a list of some essential 4X strategy games that you should consider adding to your game library. We're skewing more towards modern titles, as we don't think yet another list touting MOO2 as the grand 4X daddy does the gaming community any real service. While these games have helped shape the genre there are plenty of new entries that are trying to leave their own mark and we believe they deserve the attention more than the old legacies.

How to play League of Legends – a LoL beginner's guide

From the outside looking in, MOBAs are daunting and mighty confusing, and yet the way players go on about them makes them sound like a great deal of fun. You must be missing out on something. After all, we're talking about some of the most popular PC games ever. It's about time you climbed that fence: claw your way up the M of 'MOBA', skip across the O and the B, then slide down the slant of the A into unknown territory.

You finally made it - it's time to give a MOBA a go. Fancy a bit of League of Legends, perhaps? Well, you really don't want to end up like me, playing your first ever game of LoL on a professional stage, against experts in the game, and with absolutely no idea what to do at all. Trust me.

So, with help from my one-time coach from that horrible day, star caster Aaron "Medic" Chamberlain, here are five LoL tips you should follow as you head into your first terrifying game. Hopefully, you'll become a better player if you read closely and take heed of the following advice.

Battlefield 2042 battle pass – Season 1 release date

Want to know when Battlefield 2042 Season 1 launches? If you're looking for more Battlefield 2042 content, the near-future FPS game is going to receive its first battle pass shortly after launch. We know DICE is planning to release more Battlefield 2042 specialists, weapons, and maps throughout 2022, though an exact release date for additional content has yet to be revealed.

Battlefield 2042 didn't launch with a single player campaign, but the devs have an entire story planned that is set to take place throughout the year. Have you ever wondered who Synseco is and why they're advertised so heavily on some of the maps? The battle pass content introduces characters and maps to expand on the world of 2042, giving players an insight as to why the United States and Russia are at the brink of war.

DICE has four battle passes planned for next year, with each pass estimated to run for at least three months. Here's what you can expect from the Battlefield 2042 Season 1 battle pass.

Genshin Impact's Shenhe and Yun Jin have been revealed

Genshin Impact is getting two new characters called Yun Jin and Shenhe. The pair have sporadically popped up in datamines over the past year, but Mihoyo has now confirmed on Twitter that they are real, continuing a trend of introducing characters before they're due to get a banner.

Shenhe is a cryo user who wields a polearm in battle. She hails from a clan of exorcists and is a disciple of an adeptus called Cloud Retainer, who chooses to take the form of a white crane for what it's worth. Mihoyo further fleshes out her background by sharing that, of all the pupils Cloud Retainer has taken on, Shenhe bears the closest resemblance to her. Shenhe thinks she's neat, too - believing her to be a "knowledgeable and chatty" master.

Yun Jin is also fond of the polearm but uses the geo element. She holds the position of Yun-Han Opera Troupe's director and is described as a "famous figure in Liyue Harbor's opera scene". We caught a glimpse of her in a recent Moonchase Festival cutscene, though she had been teased in several voice lines long before that.

Gorgeous space RTS game Falling Frontier is delayed and I think I might cry

I was quite taken with space strategy game Falling Frontier when it debuted at E3 earlier this year,  and now I'm a bit sad to hear that it's been delayed into 2022.

The passion project of solo developer Todd D'Arcy, under the banner of Stutter Fox Studios, Falling Frontier presents a grounded sci-fi world (with select tropes such as jump drives) where the player must carefully explore and expand their control across procedurally generated star systems. "Most of Falling Frontier's systems are in place for our Early Access launch," D'Arcy says in the press release, "but I want to take the necessary time to get the game to its best possible state before players get their hands on it."

This space game seemingly has everything - ship design, logistics, tactical RTS combat, plus it's really pretty. Accompanying the delay news is a new trailer that shows off more in-action footage, from how waystations work, to retrofitting ships on the fly, to a new 'Search and Rescue' mission type where you can either recover your own officers floating in space, or capture enemy agents to interrogate for intelligence.

Hitman 3 VR, ray tracing, and more comes to gaming PCs in Year 2 2022 update

In our Hitman 3 review, we said the game was a "fitting farewell to one of the best stealth series of the last decade", but it appears the game's developer isn't quite finished with their best barcoded bald boy. In a news post and YouTube video, IO Interactive announced several updates we can expect in the game's 'Year 2' update, including support for VR, ray tracing, and gameplay changes.

Prior to this announcement, the only way that Hitman 3 could be played in virtual reality was via the PS4 or PS5's PSVR headset. However, support for PC VR headsets will come to the game in January, 2022.

IO Interactive promises that "full technical details, including the platforms that we're supporting, will be revealed before Year 2 starts on 20 January 2022." Regardless of what headsets are supported, it's safe to say that those with the best VR headsets will enjoy a decidedly sharper and smoother assassination experience compared to PSVR.

The best Call of Duty Vanguard MP40 loadout

Searching for the best MP40 loadout in Call of Duty Vanguard? The MP40 dominated the Vanguard beta back in September, and it's even better in the full game with all the attachments unlocked. Using the right combination of attachments, you can turn the MP40 into a weapon capable of killing an enemy in just two shots. The funny thing is that these shots have to hit limbs - if you land a shot anywhere else, you'll have to use three bullets instead.

Similarly to the best Kar98k loadout, the stock version of the MP40 is actually very good. It only takes four bullets to down an enemy, and the impressive rate of fire on this weapon results in a low time to kill speed. When compared to an assault rifle like the STG 44, the MP40 is lighter, features less recoil, and can empty an entire clip much faster than other Call of Duty Vanguard guns in the same category.

With ten attachments to improve this weapon, our loadout focuses on building the game-breaking two shot MP40. Here's everything you need to build the best MP40 loadout in Vanguard.

Activision Blizzard boss reportedly considering quitting if workplace issues aren't fixed

Activision Blizzard's CEO Bobby Kotick has reportedly told senior management that he'd consider quitting if he can't fix workplace issues "with speed". According to the Wall Street Journal, Kotick made the comments during a meeting with Blizzard executives, where he "stopped short" of saying that he would be stepping down, though he left the possibility open if culture problems at Activision Blizzard aren't fixed promptly.

During another meeting with Activision executives, Kotick was made aware that some employees wouldn't be satisfied unless he resigned, the Wall Street Journal adds. The Activision Blizzard CEO allegedly said he was ashamed of some of the incidents that have occurred during his 30-year tenure, further apologising for how unfolding problems have been handled.

Kotick's reported comments follow a separate story from the Wall Street Journal that allege the CEO knew about and suppressed reports of sexual misconduct over the years. Over 1,700 staffers subsequently signed a petition calling for Kotick's resignation in response, with leading figures at PlayStation and Xbox also reportedly expressing concern over what's been raised in the report.

Halo Infinite ranks – new ranking system explained

Halo Infinite's surprise multiplayer announcement means players can now access the FPS game for free, before the game's full campaign release in December. Fortunately, your progress carries over at release, so you'll be able to continue to climb the Halo Infinite ranks without starting over again.

The way progression works in Halo multiplayer has changed quite drastically from the previous games. Instead of working your way up the ranks by earning XP, this time you need to rank up through the Halo Infinite battle pass, which some players are calling too grindy though the battle pass has since become easier to grind. Instead of earning XP directly from matches, the experience earned from daily, weekly, and ultimate challenges goes towards the battle pass to progress through the 100 tiers and earn rewards.

Currently, you can access all Season 1 content including maps, core modes, Academy features, and the battle pass. You also have access to Ranked Arena, where you can start playing ranked matches in modes: Slayer, Capture the Flag, Oddball, and Strongholds. Here's how the ranking system works in Halo Infinite.

Magic and mystery: The history of New World's Aeternum

Amazon Games' MMO New World has proved immensely popular with genre stalwarts and newcomers alike. From washing up against the shore in your first moments, to battling for the honour of your faction, the story of New World is intertwined with every action.

Rather than being handed tomes of lore to sift through, you are instead encouraged to explore this land for yourself, asking questions and getting to know the varied (and usually unreliable) characters found along the way.

Compelling inhabitants aside, by far the most complex and intriguing character in the game is the Eternal Isle itself – Aeternum. Shifting and changing for thousands of years, Aeternum has eluded any simple attempt to document its ever-deepening history. As a character tasked with exploring this new frontier, you'll come across countless friendly faces who will share with you their stories and memories of this once great land. The problem is how to sift fact from innocently embellished fiction – a task which will consume the minds of the most curious newcomers to Aeternum.

     Halo Infinite Yoroi samurai armor

Want to know how to get the Yoroi samurai armour in Halo Infinite? Following the surprise launch of the much-anticipated FPS game, Halo Infinite's first season, Heroes of Reach, lasts until May 2, 2022. So there's plenty of time for you to get all of the Halo Infinite season one battle pass unlockable skins based on characters from Halo: Reach. However, 343 Industries has also tweeted about the first mini-season that begins tomorrow. It's called 'Fracture: Tenrai' and features the Yoroi armour as the event's main unlockable skin.

Previous Halo games had character customisation to make your Spartan warrior look unique, so it's no surprise to see that Halo Infinite's battle pass has a plethora of helmets, weapon skins, and pauldrons to make your Spartan stand out. Despite not being the first Japanese-themed armour set in Halo (the Hayabusa powered assault armour has been around since Halo 3), the Yoroi samurai armour is one of the more elaborate looking designs in the game so far.

So, if you ever wanted your Spartan warrior to have that samurai look, complete with a snazzy Kabuto helmet, then you should definitely mark in your calendars when Fracture: Tenrai goes live.

New World devs offer context over recent endgame changes

New World got its 1.1 update last week, ushering in a new weapon, enemy type, and various other bits and pieces to the MMORPG. However, shortly after it went live fans started reporting endgame-adjusting changes that appeared to have been added, too, with some raising concerns about a perceived increase to grind and things becoming tougher for solo players. Now, Amazon Games has posted a new dev blog offering some context to the endgame changes rolled out.

"Recently changes were made to the Elite POIs in the endgame zones and it is clear to us that proper context wasn't delivered on why those changes were made," developer Berserker Mike explains on the game's forums. "Our goal is to have a variety of areas that players can go to for crafting materials and gear. But with new gear and equipment, we want players to be challenged.

"Our vision for endgame is multi-faceted, and includes Outpost Rush and Wars, Invasions and Arenas, 60+ Corrupted breaches, 60+ Elite POIs and named creatures, and Expeditions, with more to come in the future," the devs adds, explaining that there won't be one, single source for "best in slot". Instead, he explains, the team's desire is to encourage players to engage with various different activities.

Warzone new map – Caldera release date

Want to know more about the new Warzone map? Sledgehammer Games' WWII themed release will integrate with Warzone in December 2021, introducing new weapons, vehicles, and a brand new WWII map set to replace '80s Verdansk. The new map is called Caldera, and it's going to launch with Vanguard and Warzone Season 1.

Black Ops Cold War fully integrated with the battle royale game at the beginning of Season 3 with the release of '80s Verdansk, five months after its November launch. There were a number of issues with the Cold War integration that took a while to fix: popular weapons were completely unbalanced for months, attachments didn't function like they were supposed to, and weapon balancing on Modern Warfare weapons completely stopped.

A recent Call of Duty blog post broke down everything coming to Warzone less than a month after Vanguard launches. There are plenty of in-game events on the run up to Warzone Pacific, so stay tuned for more information. Here's everything we know about the new Warzone map so far.

Nvidia RTXGI 'Infinite Scrolling Volumes' feature makes its debut in Icarus

We're less than a month away from the Icarus release date, and developer RocketWerkz has recently revealed that the game supports a couple of Nvidia technologies that should help boost fps and enhance its visuals. Icarus will feature Nvidia DLSS and Nvidia RTXGI (ray traced global illumation), with a new 'Infinite Scrolling Volumes' feature which should greatly enhance the lighting of the game's open world.

While Icarus isn't the first game or open world title to support ray traced global illumination, with Metro Exodus using the technology as early as 2019, RocketWerkz claims that the new Infinite Scrolling Volumes feature should make its implementation a cut above previous examples.

In a news post on the game's Steam page, Icarus developer Shammgod explains that the new feature explains that the new feature "uses ray tracing to constantly update the Global Illumination lighting volume around the player as they move through Icarus' world. This effectively provides an "infinite" volume of global illumination for the player without needing a huge amount of memory to store an infinite number of lighting probes."

The best Forza Horizon 5 settings for performance on your gaming PC

Forza Horizon 5 is the first game in either of the Forza series to debut on Microsoft's latest Xbox Series consoles, complete with gorgeous visuals, and it's a sight to behold on the PC as well. If you're ready to head to Mexico, let's get your gaming PC tuned up and tinker with the game's many settings in its graphics menu.

Given that it's a cross-gen title, the Forza Horizon 5 system requirements are low enough that most people shouldn't have trouble getting behind the wheel or even cranking it up to fifth gear. Unfortunately, there's no support for Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR, but you likely won't need them given how well the game already runs and looks using most of its presets.

If you haven't bought your Horizon festival ticket, you can pick up Forza Horizon 5 via Xbox Game Pass, in addition to other Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport titles. It's also available via on the Microsoft Store and Steam.

Genshin Impact 2.3 release time – Albedo and Eula banner reruns start soon

Mihoyo has revealed when you'll be able to play Genshin Impact's new content, which is pretty neato as that's precisely when Albedo and Eula's banner reruns start.

The Genshin Impact 2.3 release time is 7pm PST / 10pm EST on November 23, and 3am GMT on November 24. Mihoyo explains in a blog post that maintenance should begin at 6am UTC+8 on November 24, estimating that it'll take five hours to complete, so we've figured out when the update should be live for you - because we're lovely and helpful like that. As ever, you'll get 300 Primogems to make up for the downtime, which amounts to 60 Primogems for every hour the servers are down. If Mihoyo completes maintenance early, you'll still get the total amount.

Once the update is live, the Secretum Secretorum and Born of Ocean Swell banners will be live. The former banner offers the five-star geo character Albedo, whereas the latter event offers the five-star cryo user Eula. While both banners are technically separate, they're both rounded out by the same cast of heroes. This time around, you're getting the chance to pick up four-star characters Bennett, Noelle, and Rosaria.

The best games like LoL – all the best MOBAs on PC

What is the best MOBA? The title of 'best MOBA game' is a hotly contested one, and often reduced to two warring champions: League of Legends and Dota 2. But, despite being the most popular in the genre, these two games may not necessarily be the best MOBA for you.

MOBAs have been around for a long time - the genre was originally born from player-made custom games. The first MOBA was a Starcraft custom map called Aeon of Strife, which then inspired the incredibly popular Warcraft III custom game Defense of the Ancients. Modders from the original DotA went on to create Riot's League of Legends, and Valve's Dota 2, bringing MOBA gameplay to even wider audiences. Thanks to the format's depth of gameplay and astronomical skill ceiling, MOBAs are some of the biggest esports games around, with hefty prizes to boot; Dota 2's TI10 tournament had a prize pool of $40,018,195. Whew.

So, if you're looking to take your first, wobbly steps into the MOBA genre, you may be wondering which MOBA will be the best fit - here's the lowdown on the biggest MOBAs around to give you a headstart. You'll be defending the legends of the smiting storm in no time. Or something like that.

League of Legends patch 11.24 notes – Debonair skins, new Challenges feature

This is it, LoL fans - the final patch of the 2021 League of Legends patch cycle has come to the PBE for its fortnight of testing and tinkering. League of Legends patch 11.23 has made the leap from the testing grounds, bringing a round of Café Cuties skins for Annie, Soraka, Vladimir, Gwen, Bard, and Sivir, as well as all the Preseason 2022 changes to the live MOBA game. Now, it's 11.24's turn - so let's dig in.

First up, as usual we've got a brand-new batch of skins coming with the new update. This patch it's an emerald-hued range of Debonair skins for champions Brand, Draven, LeBlanc, Leona, Malzahar, Master Yi, and Zed, which brings them into the murky depths of the mobster-run Valoran City, as part of the Crime City Nightmare alternate universe. Lucky Brand even gets a Prestige Edition. You can check out the splash art and in-game previews for these shiny new styles in the New Champion Skins section in the patch notes below.

Best Warzone loadout drop: top setups for Season 6

Looking for the best Warzone loadout to secure the win in Call of Duty's battle royale? Warzone has been out for a while, and it's clear that the best way to secure a win is to create a custom Warzone loadout drop and grab it in-match via the Warzone Buy Stations and regular drops.

In case you're new to Call of Duty: Warzone and are just getting to grips with some of its curious additions – then loadout drops are a way of using your create-a-class setups from multiplayer in Warzone. Purchasing one of these will let you drop in your very own custom loadout almost instantaneously, meaning you can go from having a couple of common rarity weapons and some tactical gear to boasting two custom primary weapons of your choice, your favourite equipment, and even perks.

However, weapon balancing is very different in Warzone than it is in multiplayer, and your choice of perks, gadgets, and primaries will not translate perfectly to Warzone's demands. We've earned plenty of wins and are pretty confident that we have the best loadout for Warzone to help you secure your first W, no matter how you prefer to play.

Genshin Impact new characters in the 2.3 update and beyond

Looking for more information about the new characters coming to Genshin Impact? Since its release in 2020, the addictive anime game has seen plenty of regular updates expanding on the game's content - and adding several new characters by way of limited time banners.

According to Mihoyo's Genshin Impact roadmap, they aim to release new updates every six weeks - and if past experience is anything to go by, during each new patch, there will be at least one new banner with a new Genshin Impact five-star character, and possible new four-star characters included as well. That said, several new Genshin Impact characters have been added outside of this schedule, like Genshin Impact Klee - so we could see new characters arrive unexpectedly, too.

Arataki Itto and Gorou are the next new characters to arrive in the Genshin Impact 2.3 update, but there are also a few leaks and some datamined information concerning new characters that may appear in future Genshin Impact updates and beyond. However, until they're officially announced, these characters are not final and may be subject to changes.

Destiny 2: what is the Legendary Lost Sector today?

Are you looking for the Legend or Master Lost Sector locations in Destiny 2? While many Destiny 2 Exotics can be bought from Xûr or even in the world loot pool, the Exotics in these special Lost Sector instances cannot, forcing players to explore these dangerous areas if they want the best equipment available. To make matters worse, you have to complete them on your own to get a chance at the best rewards.

Before you can take on Legend Lost Sectors, you need to complete all the normal Lost Sectors first. If you don't, the new Legend Lost Sectors will not appear on the map. There are two quests per day in which the location, modifiers, and rewards rotate out for something new. The location for the Legend Lost Sector quests appear with the daily reset at 5pm UTC.

It's important to remember that Exotic drops are not guaranteed after completing these quests, so you may have to run through the same Lost Sector multiple times. You can go through them quests with a fireteam, but your rewards will be reduced to Enhancement Cores only.

These mods turn Skyrim into Borderlands

There have been many great mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that update the graphics, change various parts of the visuals and even bring in features from other games - but there aren't many that completely overhaul Skyrim's visuals to make it look like another game entirely, like one modder has done to make it look like Borderlands.

The Skyrim Borderlands mod - or rather, series of mods - completely changes the game's visuals to give the world of Tamriel a distinctive cel-shaded look inspired by Gearbox's Borderlands series. The mod series by Kanjs isn't complete yet as it's only in beta, but they have already overhauled many characters, creatures, textures, locations, the sky, and even just general clutter so it looks more like Borderlands.

The best Battlefield 2042 M5A3 loadout

Want to know what the best Battlefield 2042 M5A3 loadout is? Weapon attachments work very differently in Battlefield 2042 compared to most FPS games. The plus system allows you to switch between preconfigured attachments on the fly by holding down the T button in-game. This allows you to prepare for close-range and long-distance encounters with two sets of attachments.

So when it comes to speccing your loadouts, you need to think about the attachments you have on your weapon and which attachments you can switch to mid-match. In the case of the M5A3, one of the best Battlefield 2042 guns, this weapon performs best at close to mid-range. This M5A3 loadout aims to manage the recoil when firing from a distance and increase both the projectile velocity and fire rate.

With that in mind, here's the best Battlefield 2042 M5A3 loadout. In this guide, you'll also find out which attachments complement each other to build the best M5A3 loadout and when you should switch attachments in the middle of a match.

Following the conclusion of Arcane on Friday, Riot Games and Netflix have confirmed that the animated series based on League Of Legends will indeed get a second season. The only detail they are willing to confirm right now is that the voice actors behind Vi, Jinx, and Caitlyn will return, and I have no idea if that constitutes a spoiler or not because I've only seen the first three episodes. Check out the teasing teaser trailer below.

Rockstar have apologised for "the unexpected technical issues" in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, saying the remastered versions of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas did not launch in a state with meets their standards of quality. Probably shouldn't have released them in that state, then. They say they plan to improve them, and did release a bug-fixing patch over the weekend. They will also put the original versions back on sale, and will give them to people who buy the remastered trilogy.

DSI see the term "meme game" thrown around from time to time. Generally, it's a bit of harsh thing to say, as it often diminishes the hard work of a developer. DEEEER Simulator, on the other hand, is a meme game, make no mistake about it. While it certainly has moments of amusement, there is practically no content here and next to nothing has been added to the game since the Early Access version, save for a final boss encounter at the very end, meaning that the game can and will be typically completed in less than an hour. DEEEER Simulator begins with a character creator. It has a surprising amount of options in regard to letting you shape your human avatar's visage. Immediately after you finish, your character pushes a deer out of the way of a car and dies on impact. The game then asks if you want to be reborn, at which point you find yourself controlling a deer in a tiny city. There are other elements on display, such as time travel and giant robots, but not ...

Vanguard Type 99 Class. The arrival of Call of Duty: Vanguard saw a new campaign, multiplayer maps and modes, and the continuation of the dark aether narrative in Zombies. Since launch, Sledgehammer Games has rolled out regular updates. Recently, Shipment was added into the mix, allowing fans to get into the action on a classic multiplayer map. Currently, Vanguard has three sniper rifles for you to choose from. One weapon that belongs in this category is the Type 99. With the ability to use up to ten attachments on each weapon, it can be hard to decide on the best combination. This guide will help you make the best Type 99 class in Vanguard. The Type 99 sits right in the middle of the sniper rifle pack. Although it has a respectable amount of speed, the fire power and accuracy are not as strong as they could be. Luckily, with the best attachments equipped, you can drag these aspects up to create a viable weapon. As the Type 99 is a sniper rifle, it is more suited to taking on engagements on medium to large...

Vanguard 3 Line Rifle ClassThe launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard reintroduces the Second World War as its time period. You can hop into a new campaign, play the classic map Shipment, and continue the dark aether story in Zombies. If you enjoy sniping here, there are currently three options for you to choose from. One of these options is the 3-Line Rifle and you can create a viable class in Vanguard by using the correct attachments. Compared to the other sniper rifles in Vanguard, the 3-Line Rifle is slow and has the worst accuracy in its category. However, it does have a strong amount of fire power. Therefore, this class will focus on the accuracy and speed of the weapon to allow you to take advantage of the high fire power. When taking your sniper rifle into multiplayer, it will thrive in medium to larger scale maps where you can pick opponents off at further ranges. Currently, the Kar98 appears to be the strongest and most popular sniper rifle in Vanguard. However, by using the best attachments, you can make...

Path of ChampionsA few weeks ago Legends of Runeterra dropped its latest PvE mode called Path of Champions. In this article, we will cover the basics on everything you need to know before diving in. Similar to previous PvE modes in Legends of Runeterra, Path of Champions has you moving your character across a map battling AI opponents. You start off using Jinx, but after completing the first level, the field opens up with a plethora of champions to choose from. Some must be unlocked by playing more of the mode, but you start off with Jinx, Vi, Ekko, Miss Fortune, Yasuo, and Zed. There are nine other champions that can be unlocked by playing the game. Some levels even have fully voiced motion comics bookending them.   You start each level off with a small, basic deck and can add more cards along the way. You can also level up your champion by using reputation points gained after completing each level. The more fights you win on a map, the more reputation you gain. Leveling up gives your champion...

Runescape Golden Party Hat FeatureFor the first time in 20 years, RuneScape players can earn a brand new party hat. Prior to today's update, the last available set was released as part of the 2001 Christmas event. That set includes the Purple Party hat, the most expensive item in the game with a street price of roughly 55 billion gold. To celebrate the MMORPG's 20th anniversary, developer Jagex has added a new party hat. Named the Golden Party Hat, it is a tradable item that is bound to be worth a lot of gold in the future. This is because it will be discontinued on January 3, preventing any more from entering the economy. In other words, this is a limited opportunity for players to earn an extremely valuable discontinued rare item.   The Golden Party Hat Over the next six weeks, Golden Party Hat shards can be earned in RuneScape by completing various tasks.
