Tron Costumes Are Coming to Fall Guys Next Week

Tron Fall Guys

Fall Guys is keeping the crossovers coming, and in a story we'll file under "nobody saw this coming," Tron is the next game coming to the best game about jelly beans. This isn't the first time Fall Guys has gotten a major corsover, and it's not likely to be the last, but it made a little more sense when Godzilla found his way into the game. Seriously, who was asking for Tron?

Four outfits names after various characters from the movies – Sark, Tron, Rinzler, Quorra – will be coming to Fall Guys. Fall Guys's current season, Season 4, is future-themed so it's not a bad fit when you think about it. Sark will be available in the in-game store for 22,000 kudos, while the other three will be a part of a paid DLC pack. The pack will be releasing on May 24th.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is currently available on PS4 and PC. Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game are in development, but were recently delayed. Cross-platform play is also coming in the future. Developer Tonic Games Group was recently acquired by Epic Games.

Ex-Shadow of Mordor Boss Joins Unnamed EA Studio Making Open World Action Adventure Games

Kenneth Stephens oversaw WB Games' Monolith during the development of both Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Now, he's headed to a new, as-yet unnamed studio at EA, which will focus on developing open world action adventure games. The new studio will be based in Seattle, but may offer opportunities for remote work.

The move will also reunite Stephens with EA senior VP and group GM Samantha Ryan. The two worked together when Ryan was president of Monolith and later SVP of production and development at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

"The action-adventure space is a hugely important genre in our industry, and to us at EA," Ryan told GamesIndustry.biz. "Players and fans of those games are so passionate and it's also one of my personal favorite genres. We've also recently had success with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and we would love to entertain more fans with similar interests."

Ryan wouldn't say whether the new studio would be developing a new IP or working on an existing brand or franchise. "We're still figuring out a lot of foundational questions," Ryan says. "How big? What games? How fast to grow? Kevin and I both know how important it is to get the foundations of any studio 'right' and he'll take his time to figure it all out. When you rush, you don't give yourself time to be thoughtful. Why rush?"

EA plans to reveal more information about the new studio in the fall.

Outriders' Next Patch Will Fix Damage Mitigation Issues, "Community Appreciation Package" in the Works

Outriders

Outriders has been a major success for People Can Fly and Square Enix. Despite it having several issues at launch, including a bug that wiped out players' inventories (which is now being fixed) the game saw more than 3.5 million players its first month, and Square Enix believes the title can become its "next major franchise."

It's not all good news, though. While People Can Fly has made huge strides bringing the game up to snuff, it still has some technical issues. The next patch, which People Can Fly is hoping to release tomorrow, will address a pretty big damage mitigation issue that causes affected players to die "very quickly or in some cases instantly when hit by an attack." The developers also said the "patch will additionally include crash fixes, as well as added telemetry to help us diagnose currently outstanding sign-in issues that might remain after this patch release."

In addition to patching the game, Square Enix is also working on a community appreciation package to apologize players for all of the technical issues the game suffered at  launch. The current plan is to reward all players who played between March 31 and April 11 with a Legendary weapon, "a level appropriate amount of Titanium", and the Frustration emote, though all of that may change.

"We are still determining when the appreciation package will be delivered," People Can Fly said on Reddit.

Outriders Can Become Square Enix's "Next Major Franchise," Passes 3.5 Million Players

Outriders_05

Outriders is "on track to become the company's next major franchise," according to publisher Square Enix. The co-op sci-fi shooter, which was developed by People Can Fly, had more than 3.5 million players during it's first month on the market. Part of that is likely because the game released on Xbox Game Pass at launch. It's also available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, PC and Stadia.

"With over 3.5 million unique players, average play times of over 30 hours and extremely high engagement for co-operative play, we and the amazing team at People Can Fly are so excited with this initial success," said co-head of studio at Square Enix External Studios Jon Brooke.

"Launching a new game IP is never easy and we remain very grateful for the community's support and feedback – we continue to listen carefully and want to assure everyone that we are committed to improving and enhancing the experience in the coming weeks and months. We also look forward to expanding on Outriders in the future."

Outriders has obviously been a huge success, but it had several issues at launch, including bugs that wiped out player's inventories, which People Can Fly have begun to restore. The studio also announced that it is planning another patch to address damage mitigation issues ans is working on a "community appreciation package for fans."

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes Gets New Trailer, Gameplay Coming Next Week

The Dark Pictures Anthology - House of Ashes

Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games is continuing The Dark Pictures Anthology. The latest entry, which is the third after Man of Medan and Little Hope, is titled House of Ashes and is set to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox series X|S, and PC later this year. That's not news, really, but this new teaser trailer for the game is. House of Ashes is set in Iraq in 2003 and once again stars Ashley Tisdale, who is most famous for her role in the High School Musical series.

A press release for the game summarizes House of Ashes as follows: "In the shadow of the Zagros mountains a military unit comes under fire from Iraqi forces. The resulting firefight causes an earth tremor where both sides fall into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple. With all communication severed, our protagonists are trapped in a terrifying underworld they must navigate to escape, unaware that something ancient and evil has awakened in the shadows and has found a new prey to hunt."

It all sounds suitably scary, and the teaser looks good and builds some terrific atmosphere. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long to see how the game plays, as a gameplay reveal is slated for May 27th. You can watch the teaser trailer below:

Summer Game Fest Confirms New Showcase in June, Just Before E3

The Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley has announced plans for Summer Game Fest 2021. Summer Game Fest is slated to start with a "Kick Off Live" show featuring world premieres on June 10th, which is just two days before E3. The first Summer Games Fest, which kicked off last year, took place between May and August. This time, however, the event has been "condensed" due to fan feedback, Keighley told VGChronicle.

Summer Game Fest promises "a memorable month of announcements and updates" that overlaps with E3 and includes events like Ubisoft Forward which will be streamed by both Summer Games Fest and the ESA. Kick Off Live will take place on Thursday, June 10 at 11 am PT. The event will feature "more than a dozen" world premieres and preview of the publisher livestream events planned to follow. It will also feature a performance by Weezer.

More than 30 publishers are participating in the event. The full list includes 2K, Activision, Amazon Games, Annapurna Interactive, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Battlestate Games, Blizzard Entertainment, Capcom, Devolver Digital, Dotemu, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Finji, Frontier, Gearbox Publishing, Hi-Rez Studios, Inner Sloth, Koch Media, Mediatonic, MiHoYo, PlayStation, Psyonix, Raw Fury, Riot Games, Saber Interactive, Sega, Steam, Square Enix, Tribeca Festival, Tencent Games, Warner Bros. Games, Ubisoft, Wizards of the Coast, and Xbox.

Deathloop's Julianna Can Spook Players, Offer Weaponry and More

Deathloop_04

While Deathloop's time periods and looping make up a core part of the game, its second playable character Julianna is a major component on her own. On the PlayStation Blog, creative director Dinga Bakaba revealed some new details on the mysterious agent. As it turns out, she originally started out as one of the Visionaries but actively hunt down Colt on her own.

While there was some concern about how a second playable character could impact NPC density or the scale of Blackreef Isle, art director Sebastien Mitton said the PS5's CPU "gave us oxygen" with its speed. Julianna is capable of more than shooting Colt – she can use tannoys to mess with him, which causes some back-and-forth barbs to ensue. She's noted as being playful and doing everything for fun, which fits pretty well with how the Visionaries view their activities on the isle.

When Julianna is being controlled by another player, there will be a unique sound to indicate the same. Some of the things she can do includes "appearing and disappearing at random", leading to some jumpscares; mess with the player without being seen; and maybe provide some weaponry for Colt to use. "She's eternal. She doesn't care about dying. She cares about the hunt and how she can make it interesting over an eternity," says Bakaba.

Deathloop is slated to release on September 14th for PS5 and PC.

The Last of Us Part 2 – Enhanced Performance Patch for PS5 is Out Now

the last of us part 2

As one of the best games available on the PS4, fans have been wondering when The Last of Us Part 2 will receive enhancements for PS5 via backward compatibility. Those inevitable upgrades have now been officially confirmed. Patch 1.08 is now live for the game, Naughty Dog has confirmed, and it brings improvements targeted for those playing the game on PS5.

Specifically, it will improve the game's resolution, make load times significantly faster, and will also add a toggle so that you can choose between 60 frames per second or 30 frames per second. It is, of course, a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PS4.

Meanwhile, there's plenty else for The Last of Us fans to look forward to as well. It's been leaked that a remake of the first game is in the works, while Naughty Dog is also working on a multiplayer project, which is probably a Factions game. Series creator and director Neil Druckmann has also said that a story for Part 3 has been outlined– though if that happens, it won't happen for a while. Finally, an HBO adaptation of The Last of Us is also currently in the works.

Deathloop – Reprises, Time Periods and PS5 DualSense Support Detailed

Deathloop_03

Arkane Studios' Deathloop is still a few months off but various previews have begun dropping for the supernatural stealth shooter. On the PlayStation Blog, creative director Dinga Bakaba shared some new details on what sets the game apart from the typical rogue-lite. Yes, you can carry over "certain things" between loops but death isn't the immediate end.

Instead, you get Reprises which provide three chances in each loop to continue. You'll need to locate your corpse to recover any items though. And though the story isn't occurring in real-time, there are four time periods which change the activities, stories, routes and so on for each district. These also change where your targets could be. Switching between time periods can be done from the quick menu but there are certain "repercussions" that could happen. One positive example includes saving a character at an earlier time period who will unlock a door later and provide access to a new area.

Along with stealth and eavesdropping on targets to learn key information (like finding a masked target among a sea of masked individuals), there are Slabs which provide unique abilities, Trinkets that bestow upgrades and a tool for hacking turrets. Some key abilities include Kinesis for tossing enemies into the air or against walls but you'll need to choose carefully. Colt can only carry three weapons and two powers (each being able to have two upgrades).

Being a PS5 exclusive for one year after launch, Deathloop will take advantage of the DualSense. When your gun jams, the adaptive trigger is locked to convey the same. "But when you're out of ammo, the trigger effect will disappear. Even before your brain registers it, the animation, the click-click sound, you'll know you're out," says Bakaba. Each weapon will have a "slightly different feel" to it.

Deathloop is out on September 14th for PC and PS5. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

It Will Take Some Time for Developers to "Fully Embrace" the Xbox Series X's Full Potential – The Ascent Developer

the ascent

The Xbox Series X and PS5 have brought developers significantly better hardware to work with than what we've had with the PS4 and Xbox One for the last few years, but as is usually the case with generation transitions, it's probably going to be a while before we see studios beginning to get the most out of the hardware, especially with most games probably being cross-gen for the foreseeabl future.

That's exactly what Tor Frick, creative director of The Ascent and co-founder of developer Neon Giant, feels as well. Speaking with GamingBolt in a recent interview, when asked about the impressive hardware of the Xbox Series X and how he foresees it aiding development in the coming years, Frick said that it's likely going to be some time before we see that properly. At the same time, he also added that things such as the faster SSD will help smaller developers bridge the gap between smaller and larger budget games.

"I think it will take some time before it becomes apparent how big of a shift this will be," he said. "It will take some time before the development community will have the possibility to fully embrace the new baseline of hardware. The fast load times will allow developers to create experiences that are more seamless, richer, more detailed and more varied. It will help smaller developers bridge the gap between budget titles and what we would traditionally expect from AAA studios. I think we will just see even more variety of games being made from studios of all sizes, which is amazing."

The Ascent launches for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on July 29. In this same interview, Frick also spoke with us about the game's Xbox console exclusivity. Our full interview will be live soon, so stay tuned for that.

No Man's Sky Update Today, April 30 – 3.38 Expeditions Patch Notes

The redemption story for No Man's Sky is one not seen very often in the games industry. With every subsequent update following its release, the game got better and closer to what it was promised to be.

Today, developer Hello Games pushed the 3.38 update which doesn't change anything major, but still fixes plenty of issues players have been experiencing. The recent 3.0 Origins update added a whole slew of new content for players to sink their into, so it only makes sense that the first few patches following would be more fixes than anything else.

Here's everything you need to know about the No Man's Sky update for April 30.

Tyranitar Weakness Pokemon GO – Raid Guide and Best Counters 2021

tyranitar weakness pokemon go

Currently, Pokemon GO is deep into an event, crossing over with another Pokemon title, New Pokemon Snap.

The event sees a bunch of Pokemon appear more frequently that are likely found in Snap as well as a bunch of new raid bosses.

One of the most popular raid bosses that are part of this event is Tyranitar, who returns to raids for the first time in a little while.

With that in mind, let's check out if Tyranitar has a weakness and how to take it down in Pokemon GO.

Tyranitar Weakness Pokemon GO

Tyranitar is a Pokemon that has PLENTY of weaknesses to exploit.

It has a 2x weakness to:

  • Bug
  • Fairy
  • Grass
  • Ground
  • Steel
  • Water

With a brutal 4x weakness to Fighting-type moves. This is definitely something players should look to exploit.

Best Counters for Tyranitar Weaknesses

As stated, Tyranitar has a major weakness to Fighting-type Pokemon and this is where you should be looking to start.

Mega Lopunny is a very solid pick. It resists Tyranitar's Dark-type moves, can hit hard with its own Fighting moves and buffs all other Fighting-type Pokemon.

The likes of Conkeldurr, Machamp, Lucario, Hariyama, Blaziken, Sirfetch'd and Breloom make up the rest of the top counters.

You can find their recommended movesets below:

Mega Lopunny – Low Kick/Focus Blast
Conkeldurr – Counter/Dynamic Punch
Machamp – Counter/Dynamic Punch
Lucario – Counter/Aura Sphere
Hariyama – Counter/Dynamic Punch
Blaziken- Counter/Focus Blast
Sirfetch'd – Counter/Close Combat
Breloom – Counter/Dynamic Punch

Tyranitar can be soloed but it can be fairly difficult – it'd be preferable to have at least two trainers to take it down.

Other Upcoming Raid Bosses

In May, Niantic is releasing a range of really exciting new Raid Bosses to Pokemon GO.

Headlining these are Xerneas, who will be appearing as part of the Luminous Legends X event, from May 4 to May 17 and Yveltal who will arrive on May 18 before departing on May 31.

Genshin Impact 1.6 Electro Buff Confirmed by miHoYo – What Are The Elemental Reactions Changes?

Genshin Impact Keqing artwork electro buff 1.6 story feature ps4 ps5 switch pc ios android

In the latest Q&A with the Genshin Impact developers, miHoYo confirmed a buff for the Electro element in the 1.6 Ver update, coming in June – What do we know about the buff so far and how will it change Elemental Reactions' stats and builds for Superconduct and Electro-Charged?

  • BAIZHU – New Dendro characters release date hinted at by miHoYo

Genshin Impact – Elemental reaction changes

We summarized below what the developers said in the Q&A:

  • After reaching Level 60, every character will get a DMG buff for the major Elemental Reactions they trigger, including Electro-Charged, Superconduct, Overloaded, Swirl, and Shatter.
  • The Base Shield DMG Absorption for shields generated by Crystallize reactions will be increased.
  • The DMG Bonus provided by Elemental Mastery for major reactions will be increased. (Refer to the attributes panel in-game for the exact DMG Bonus amount)

miHoYo also confirmed some of these changes are already implemented in the 1.6 Private Beta Test. Some numbers have leaked as well, however I personally won't be sharing them as they aren't final anyways, and could end up highly misrepresent the final changes that miHoYo will publish before 1.6.

  • LEAKS – New boat system and Archipelago area possibly in 1.6

Genshin Impact Electro buff – Buffing Electro Elemental reactions

Electro-Charged and Super Conduct receiving a buff will be great for characters like Keqing. This might also mean we'll finally get more Electro characters as none have been added so far. Keqing is, since the release of Genshin Impact on September 28 ,2020, the sole released 5* Electro character.

As a side note, the Q&A also confirms Keqing will play a big role in the Moonchase Festival.

  • MEMES – Eplaining the McGenshin profile pictures meme

The Electro element is believed by fans to be one of the weakest Elements in Genshin Impact right now. Personally speaking, I'd rather say it's strong, but not incredibly overpowered and doesn't easily let you do massive DMG. Unlike the Vaporize combo you can do with a Pyro characters like Bennett and a Hydro character like Mona.

Genshin Impact is available on PS4, PS5, mobile, and PC. Version 1.5 finally added the Housing system. We've got a guide right here to help you find Wood locations for your Furnishings.

Rikka Takarada, Gridman characters coming back in Dynazenon?

Rikka and Akane are the two most popular characters from Gridman, and many fans are wondering if they'll come back in the sequel Dynazenon. However, right now, it doesn't look like this will happening.

With that said, as seen in the tweet above, Gauma's seiyuu Daiki Hamano teased a surprise in Dynazenon Episode 5. I personally doubt this is Rikka or another character returning, but it's worth keeping an eye oout for it.

As a side note, SSSS.Dynazenon will get its OST CD released on June 16, 2021, in Japan. If you're interested in importing it, I'm sure this isn't your first time importing like that, so this is mainly just a remainder.

Pokemon GO Snap Celebration Event – Shiny Smeargle Odds

shiny smeargle odds

Niantic's latest Pokemon GO event is a crossover with the highly anticipated New Pokemon Snap.

It sees players more frequently encounter Pokemon from some of the Lental Region's many different environments including "deserts, jungles, and underwater landscapes."

Alongside this, as you could predict with a Pokemon Snap focused event, players are rewarded for taking snapshots and even have the opportunity to encounter and capture a Shiny Smeargle for the first time ever.

But just how likely is that? Here is everything we know about the Shiny Smeargle odds from this new Pokemon GO Snap Celebration event.

What Pokemon Are More Common As Part of the Pokemon GO Snap Celebration event?

As part of this brand new, celebratory event, Niantic has confirmed a range of new Pokemon appearing in the wild and in raids.

They are as follows:

  • Lotad
  • Cacnea
  • Ducklett
  • Vaporeon
  • Meganium
  • Trapinch
  • Smeargle
  • Metapod
  • Aipom
  • Mantine
  • Magikarp
  • Chinchou
  • Many, many more

Shiny Smeargle Odds as Part of New Event

Usually, Pokemon have a 1/500 chance of being shiny within Pokemon GO.

Research from the well known Pokemon GO community The Silph Road, however, has proven that Smeargle will have a much boosted shiny rate, at least for as long as this event runs.

Smeargle will join the likes of Riolu, Chansey and Onix with a shiny rate of 1/64 encounters. This is a much welcome increase versus the usual rates.

How Best to Encounter a Shiny Smeargle

Although there's never a guaranteed way of encountering shiny Pokemon, players have a really good shot with Smeargle.

The event runs for four days and players can encounter a maximum of 15 Smeargle a day for a total of 60 across the event period.

This means, that provided you encounter as many Smeargle as possible, you'd be pretty unlucky not to find one at all.

However, remember, it is RNG and there will be people who miss out!

Resident Evil Castle/Village Demo 2 – Release Date, Time and How to Preload

Get your hype on for the Resident Evil Village demo this weekend.

It truly feels like we've been talking about Resident Evil Village for the longest time, doesn't it? Thankfully, that wait is almost over as we only have another week to go until we get to see all the horrors Capcom has in store for us.

Now, the Village demo and the Castle demo was shoehorned into some weird time schedule over the last two weekends. It saw players having to rush around within their 30-minute timeslot, somewhat ruining the atmospheric environment Capcom has obviously tried so hard to maintain.

Thankfully, this weekend, Resi fans will be able to have a bit more time to explore both Castle Dimitrescu and the surrounding village.

When does the Resident Evil Village demo release?

The demo is expected to be playable from this Sunday, 2 May, until the following Monday, May 10. This gives players an entire week to get to grips with aspects of the game and see if it's for them or not. Instead of 30 minutes, the gameplay time has ramped itself up to a full hour.

It was originally announced that the gameplay demo would be available for 24 hours from May 2nd but Capcom decided to throw in some extra time to really get the hype up for its release.

What time does the demo start?

The Resident Evil Village demo will begin midnight UTC on Sunday, 2 May which is 1 am BST, 5 pm PST and 7 pm EST. Then the demo will conclude Monday 10, May at midnight UTC.

How to Preload Resident Evil Village demo

You can preload the demo right now on Steam and Xbox Series X/Xbox One so that you're all set when the times unlock. This will be a great opportunity for those with a PC to find out if the game runs smoothly before purchasing it. For those wondering, the PC demo size will be 9.54 GB.

Resident Evil Village will launch on May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Call of Duty: T-Pain Destroys Entire Team After Receiving Racial Abuse

Legendary Rapper T-Pain shuts down disgusting racists in a Call of Duty match on Twitch.

Anyone who has played multiplayer games like Call of Duty will know that it can be a hotbed full of toxic players. It's a harsh reality to face when there's already so much trauma and hate in the world but, boy, does it feel good when that toxicity backfires.

T-Pain, whose an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and Twitch streamer, had the unfortunate situation of coming across a few of these disgusting creatures as he was about to play a game of Call of Duty.

Rapper Brings the Pain to racist COD players

As he was waiting in the lobby for a match, the rapper was greeted with a "f**k Black Lives Matter," followed by a plethora of appalling racial slurs directed at him by some other players.

Remaining calm and cool, as you'd expect T-Pain to be, he took it on the chin for that moment in time but was determined to get his own back on these sickening individuals.

Taking note of the racist gamer's tags, T-Pain begins to hunt every last one of them down to show them that they won't win this battle whilst crying out "I want all of them. I want every single f**king one of them."

As T-Pain brilliantly whittles the team down, he demands them to 'delete the Black skins from your motherf*cking COD', before continuing to shout that he 'wants it all'.

The Tiktok video is extremely hard to listen to so please be aware of that before you press play, but what makes it worthwhile is seeing how silent these rancid racists become when they get their asses handed to them – not such big, tough men after all I guess.
