Far Cry 6 Game Size For PS5 Revealed

While Ubisoft's next tentpole entry in the Far Cry franchise is still weeks away with Far Cry 6 launching on October 5, 2021, we now know how much room it'll take up on your PS5 for those of you conscientious about your SSD space, and thankfully doesn't seem too bad.

The news comes from Twitter user PlayStationSize, who reports that the game will come in at just 38.945GB before the day one patch on PS5. While we don't yet know what the patch could be, already coming in under 40GB is still impressive for what is likely a massive open world game across a varying landscape.

With any luck the day one patch won't be too bad, making it clear once again that developers ability to compress games on PS5 will continue to make games smaller, something that players are really hoping to see even further across the board, with open world games previously being some of the biggest culprits for bloated sizes.

Crash Bandicoot Wumpa League Game Could Be Announced Soon

It seems like we could be hearing about more Crash Bandicoot very soon with a new Crash Bandicoot: Wumpa League game potentially about to be announced after it was spotted that streamers have begun recieving care packages from Activision, similar to how they've sent out teases to content creators and members of the media for the announcement of previous Crash Bandicoot titles.

The news comes from Twitter user WumpaGem who spotted a story post from Instagram user newtifeuf, thanking Activision for the care package which was a Wumpa piñata.

With the PlayStation September 2021 Showcase set to occur in just a few days, its almost certain that if this announcement is coming soon, it will happen then, if not close to it, since it could be possible that Sony is only stacking the showcase with first party developers and titles.

Although considering Crash's history with PlayStation, and that we've seen the official announcement for other Crash titles happen during PlayStation events, it feels like a safe bet you'll see your favourite bandicoot on Thursday.

Dontnod Adopts Permanent Work From Home Policy, Employees Can Choose Between Home And Office

Dontnod, the developers behind Twin Mirror and Life Is Strange before Deck Nine took over have announced that they'll be adopting a permanent work from home policy, allowing employees to choose between working in the office or working from home.

They're currently the largest studio to have done so, reports GamesIndustry.Biz. It's a move that for many large developers seems to be scary, since no one else has adapted anything similar, though for Dontnod, running fully remotely was already being discussed before the pandemic, with a strong majority of employees in favour of the switch.

The switch will also allow the studio to expand, since now their teams both in Montreal and Paris can now look for applicants anywhere with their respective regions rather than just within their own cities.

If employees do decide to work from home, they'll have furniture and equipment provided to them, and offices will also include designated desks for those who will mainly work from home but may need to come into the office from time to time.

It's an important precedent that Dontnod is setting with their FROG system (Fully Remote Organization), because the pandemic has been a direct cause of delays and disruptions across almost every studio, but much less so for those who were already fully remote since there was no adjustment time needed.

Marvel Midnight Suns Gameplay Showcase Focuses On Combat, RPG Mechanics, And A Deep Narrative

Marvel Midnight Suns developer Firaxis Games announced yesterday that we'd be getting a Gameplay Showcase featuring a battle with The Hunter and Wolverine versus Sabertooth and today we did get that fight, but so much more with gameplay of Blade and Doctor Strange, how the RPG mechanics work into the game, details around the Abbey, and a little bit of insight on the games narrative.

One important thing to note is that Firaxis Games started the stream by clarifying that there are no microtransactions in the game. Every ability and card can be earned only through playing the game.

You can check out the stream for yourself, right here:

The gameplay itself is very impressive, with the different abilities and attacks looking very polished despite it only being alpha gameplay footage. The Abbey, which is the hub where you live amongst the rest of the heroes you fight with is also where many of the RPG elements kick in, because who you hang out with and the kinds of relationships you build can have an extremely positive impact on combat if you play your cards right.

Call Of Duty: Warzone New Pacific Map Revealed, Coming Shortly After Call Of Duty: Vanguard

Call Of Duty: Vanguard is the next entry within the Call Of Duty franchise, though with that will also come a brand new era for Call Of Duty: Warzone with a brand new map launching shortly after the release of Call Of Duty: Vanguard on November 5, 2021 later this year.

This new map will a new Pacific Island map with a lush jungle, all new points of interest, different levels of verticality and just an overall more vibrant and fresh experience than players have had before with Verdansk.

The reveal featured multiple shots of what was labeled pre-alpha footage, though despite that it still looked very impressive. It'll definitely be a brand new era of Warzone, with vibrant really being the right word to describe this map in comparison to the many greys of Verdansk.

You can check out the footage for yourself in the multiplayer reveal stream which took place today (September 7):

Interestingly, the developers also took the time while announcing the new Warzone map to stress that they're working to create an all new anti-cheat system to help rid the game of hackers. Hopefully it works, it seems at least like Activision is finding ways to combat them since they recently banned 100,000 cheaters in one swipe.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard Multiplayer Reveal – Beta Available For Pre-Load On PS4 And PS5 Today, Map Details And Gameplay Changes

Call Of Duty: Vanguard had its big multiplayer reveal today (September 7) which gave us a slew of new details for Sledgehammer's latest entry in the Call Of Duty franchise and the approach they're taking this time around, along with some details about the new maps, changes they're making to the gameplay and if you want to give it a try, those who've pre-orderd the game can pre-load the beta now.

You can check out the full stream for Call Of Duty: Vanguard's multiplayer reveal that you can try out first on PS5 and PS4 for yourself, here:

In regards to gameplay changes, one of the biggest changes is the way that damage will be handled this time around, as part of your weapons customizations will be different ammo types, each with their own stats along with the multitude of other attachments puts damage output mainly in control of the players, rather than just relying on rate of fire.

Gameplay is much more tactical, something the developers stressed multiple times throughout the stream, with new additions like being able to fluidly transition between blind-fire and mounting your weapon for a steady aim. You'll also be able to utilize a new mechanic called suppressing, by which you keep an enemy suppressed behind cover actually slows down their movements.

Maps not only take you to multiple locations around the world, fighting in different kinds of environments, but they'll also play a much more tactical role in combat as well now that the environment is much more destructible. This also works in tangent with the aforementioned suppressing mechanic now included, as you can destroy the cover that your enemy is trying to us.

You can check out the multiplayer reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard for yourself, here:

Sony puts an end to free first-party PlayStation 5 game upgrades

Bad news for PlayStation 5 owners looking to upgrade their libraries: Sony said that it's putting an end to the practice of upgrading first-party PlayStation 4 games to the next generation edition for free. This appears to be a shift in corporate philosophy, as Sony previously said that it had "an upgrade path for PS4 […]

The Daily Grind: Which MMOs begin as they mean to go on?

In Eliot's open letter to new players and vets of Final Fantasy XIV last month, he noted that Final Fantasy XIV's endgame is not like the endgames of many other MMOs, specifically because it "begins as it means to go on." "The endgame is not where the game starts; level 1 is where the game […]

Shroud of the Avatar addresses 'dozens of errors' in latest patch

Release 93 of Shroud of the Avatar apparently didn't arrive without some bugs in it. That seems to be par for the course for most MMOs unfortunately, but the bugs that arrived with the recent build of the MMORPG were apparently bad enough and numerous enough that they were causing some lag and hitching problems. […]

Wisdom of Nym: A look at Trusts in Final Fantasy XIV before Endwalker

Trusts are simultaneously one of the most important and most invisible features of Shadowbringers on a whole. A whole lot of work goes into making sure that Trusts are available and work for every single dungeon all the way through the expansion, and yet it's very possible for a lot of people to go through […]

The Daily Grind: What's the worst type of minigame in MMOs?

Today's Daily Grind was inspired by Roger over at Contains Moderate Peril, who penned a fun piece on minigames a few weeks back. Oh, did I say fun? I meant grumpy. But justifiably grumpy, in my opinion. He begins by pointing out that most MMO minigamers are harmless and even fun. But… "Then there's a […]

This week, Lost Ark delayed its launch into next year, freeing up your MMO autumn for the likes of New World of Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker. Book of Travels' latest video discusses the game's early access map and planned chapter structure

When Book of Travels does eventually release into early access, there will be places to explore. That would be pretty obvious considering the TMORPG is all about wandering the world, but the latest video from developer Might & Delight tries to set a few expectations on what players can look forward to. The early access […]

One Shots: Nostalgia overload

Elder Scrolls Online certainly isn't shy about cashing in on the entire series' popularity, despite being a prequel. There are plenty of places in the game where you can see familiar landmarks and vistas, just rewound back into the past. The end result is, as Hurbster notes here, "Nostalgia overload for those of us of […]

The Daily Grind: What are some unwritten rules of your MMO communities?

Everyone who plays Final Fantasy XIV for any appreciable length of time knows that there is a third-party DPS tracking application out there. It's common knowledge. There are sites that compile DPS figures for various fights, and that is also common knowledge. But no one talks about it in-game, because even though the developers are also fully aware […]

Fallout 76's Fallout Worlds Update includes Unstoppables reward track and two new allies

Superheroes and other comic book figures might initially seem at odds with Fallout 76's post-nuclear wasteland, but fans of the series know that there's a particular love in the remaining culture of the world of these characters. So it shouldn't raise eyebrows to hear that the game's sixth season is focused around The Unstoppables. This […]

The Game Archaeologist: SOE's many MMO spin-off digital card games

One thing that I deeply admired about old Sony Online Entertainment was that it strove to experiment, innovate, and take risks. Sometimes those special projects panned out, sometimes they did not — but it was always a wild ride, giving us things like Player Studio, SOEmote, and pizza integration with EverQuest II. Another thing that […]

WRUP: Kylie stole my lightsaber edition

All right, Master. You're angry. I understand that. I'm angry, too. Not at you, obviously, but at the situation. See, I know that you're not going to believe me when I say this, but Kylie actually stole my lightsaber. I didn't forget it or anything, I know right where it is. Kylie has it. But […]

The Daily Grind: When was the last time you slowed down to enjoy your MMO?

It hasn't escaped my attention that, in MMOs, speed is everything. If we're not running somewhere, we're sprinting. If we're not sprinting, we're on rocket-powered mounts breaking Mach 7. The faster we can get to our objectives, the faster we can Get Stuff Done and Make Progress. And while I do appreciate convenient transportation, I […]

Betawatch: TitanReach suspends development

Exeunt TitanReach, pursued by former backers angry that the game is no more. The studio behind the game announced this week that development was being suspended due to a lack of funds, meaning that the packages sold since the game's early access began weren't enough to sustain ongoing development. That doesn't mean that it's impossible for the […]

One of the highlighted features of September […]

What's coming next to the in-development VR MMO Zenith? According to the game's latest press release, physics. SWG Legends is letting players demolish over 13K houses in latest pack-up event

People put a lot of effort into their MMORPG houses, but that only enhances the amusement when it's time for the community to blow them up, right? I'm mostly kidding, but not entirely: As of today's update, Star Wars Galaxies rogue server SWG Legends has initiated one of its intermittent housing demolition/house pack-up events. Here's […]

"Guild Wars 2, as a horizontal progression game, is filled with […]

WoW Factor: What's behind the turning of the tide in World of Warcraft's patch 9.1.5?

There's some interesting stuff going on right now when it comes to World of Warcraft's next major patch, due in no small part to the fact that it's clearly the patch all about pulling the ripcord. Indeed, it's a patch that is pulling that cord so hard that I suspect the cord is going to come […]

Book of Travels attributes its latest delay to an 'unholy trio' of bugs, promises a new early access launch date soon

When Book of Travels saw its early access release date pushed back a fourth time to date, there was perhaps some concern about just what is happening. Developer Might & Delight has thankfully provided some honest context, and it turns out to be a good thing there was a delay, all things considered: The game […]

You might not actually care about why, though; you might just be happy that you've got […]

Playable Worlds' Raph Koster has all but said he's building a metaverse

If you've been listening to companies like Epic Games yammer about the "metaverse" over the last year and wondered whether it's all just a lot of simple tricks and nonsense, then you might want to read up, and who better to offer that reading than someone who actually built and ran one? That someone would […]
