Yesterday, Microsoft surprise-released Halo Infinite's multiplayer mode on Xbox and PC—albeit in a beta state—weeks ahead of its planned December 8 target. Feedback thus far is largely in lockstep: Hot damn, this shooter is fun to play, but, um, what's up with the more-withholding-than-a-rich-parent battle pass? And…

Fortnite leakers are convinced that Chapter 3 is next

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 is set to come to a close on December 5, which is now just a few weeks away. The question on every fan's mind, however, has been whether Season 9 or Chapter 3 would be coming next. Early leaks and datamines have suggested that Chapter 3 is coming up soon, and a fresh round of discoveries have landed alongside the v18.40 update.

Most telling among those discoveries is a new loading screen, uncovered by Fortnite Intel and YLSDev on Twitter. The image is labeled: 'The Chapter 2 finale. Locked, loaded, and ready for the final showdown!' It features a group walking toward a sort of hollow pyramid shape in the middle of a desert.

That, in turn, matches up with a separate leaked image (courtesy of ImPeQu and Zatheo) of the final stage of this season's map, which has a similar structure in its center. And if all that wasn't enough, dataminer InTheShade has also discovered an event playlist called 'The End' - just like the event that concluded Chapter 1.

The Sims 4's next kit adds masculine skirts

The Sims 4 launched a new expansion type earlier this year with kits, tiny packs of furniture or fashion. They've, uh, not been the most popular type of content in the game's community, but they've apparently been successful enough that EA and Maxis keep making them. Today, the devs have announced the Modern Menswear Kit, which introduces a whole bunch of nontraditional masculine clothing.

The new kit is a collaboration with London-based fashion brand Stefan Cooke, and features 23 items. The official announcement runs down "jackets, trousers, suits, and shoes, as well as some of the designers' favorite pieces, including the Stefan Cooke Wool Varsity Coat with Skirt, a design that perfectly encapsulates the evolution of modern menswear".

The kit seems especially focused on sweaters, and there appear to be a few specific holiday-themed items among the group. Of course, the most 'nontraditional' bits are the masculine skirts. The Sims 4 already lets you ignore gender boundaries for clothing, but these specific options should be a bit more flattering for masculine frames.

City-builder Surviving the Aftermath has left Early Access, and will get expansions

The latest patch for post-apocalyptic city-building game Surviving the Aftermath moves it out of Early Access and into full launch, and with that comes a raft of new content that fills out the story of the nuclear apocalypse - and a challenge to prepare your band of survivors for the next one.

Along with the launch, Paradox has announced an expansion pass for Surviving the Aftermath, which includes the first three major expansions for the game. For now, however, there's plenty more to do even if you've been playing Surviving the Aftermath since its Early Access version debuted: you'll be able to hunt for clues that shed light on the nuclear disaster that led to the downfall of civilisation, and get to work preparing your population for the next disaster.

"Surviving the Aftermath had 20 content updates throughout Early Access, all of which incorporated player feedback," says game director Lasse Liljedhal. "This was a tremendous undertaking during unprecedented times, but as we say at the studio, 'the end of Early Access is only the beginning.' We have plans for more content for Surviving the Aftermath, so you can plan on enjoying the end of the world for years to come!"

     Halo Infinite devs are

November 16, 2021 Halo Infinite's devs have taken in criticism of the battle pass, and are "gathering data".

Halo Infinite's multiplayer offering got an early launch, hitting a high of 272,586 concurrent players on Steam - according to one analyst, that's the biggest an Xbox Game Studios title has seen on Valve's storefront yet. While everyone is having a dang good time - including this orange site's esteemed deputy editor - Halo Infinite's battle pass has come in for some criticism.

"Thank you to everyone who has jumped into the Halo Infinite beta so far," community director Brian Jarrard says on Twitter. "FYI the team is looking at battle pass progression and gathering data from yesterday's sessions and we'll share updates as we have them. Please continue to share feedback and raise flags as you see them."

Players are expressing concerns on Reddit and Twitter that the battle pass feels a bit too grindy and slow right now. "Three hours in, and I barely managed to level up once," one fan says. "I know it's a beta, and they've talked about improving this in the future. But it's just really discouraging to go out of your way to use the less effective weapons/vehicles for XP that amounts to a single grain of sand. I'd rather get XP for medals earned in-game and maybe increase the amount you get from the challenges. Anyway, the game is absolutely stunning. Happy hunting, Spartans!"

Minecraft 1.18 pre-release 2 upgrades the Java version

The snapshots for 1.18 are done as we move into a new phase of Minecraft betas for the upcoming update, and the changes are getting more technical as we go. 1.18 pre-release 2 upgrades the Java version, and makes a bunch of bug fixes. That's it! And that means we're probably very close to the Minecraft 1.18 release date.

Minecraft runs on Java version 17 as of this pre-release - and you can expect the same to be true of the live version of Java Edition once 1.18 officially lands. Minecraft already moved from Java 8 to Java 16 earlier this year. The upgrade should be basically invisible to most players, though you may see some slight performance differences with the change.

Beyond that, it's pretty much all bug fixes, as you can see on the official site. As we've moved from snapshots to pre-release versions, 1.18 is likely dropping soon, pending whatever final bug fixes the devs at Mojang need to make.

New report says Activision CEO knew about and suppressed reports of sexual misconduct

As Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard faces state and federal lawsuits over widespread employee mistreatment, a harrowing new report alleges that CEO Bobby Kotick was aware of reports of harassment and abuse for years before regulatory agencies began their investigations. Worse still, the report includes allegations that he actively suppressed these reports, failed to inform the board of directors about them, and protected leaders accused of serious misconduct.

The lengthy report was published today, November 16, in the Wall Street Journal, and cites interviews with current and former employees as well as a review of internal documents like memos, emails, and regulatory requests. The report includes several new allegations of misconduct, many of which involve heavy use of alcohol both at work-related functions and in the office.

The report says internal Activision Blizzard documents indicate that Kotick was aware of abuse allegations before California state investigators began looking into the company in 2018, and that he did not share this information with Activision's board of directors. The US Securities and Exchange Commission issued a subpoena earlier this year for Kotick to testify on this issue, as well as on how the company has handled workplace harassment and gender-based pay disparities.

A report by the Wall Street Journal has brought to light several new examples of alleged misconduct by Activision staff, including rape and sexual harassment. The report also highlights several instances where Activision CEO Bobby Kotick was reportedly aware of the allegations but did not inform the company's board of directors and, in one instance, intervened to prevent an alleged harasser from being fired.

In response to the report, employee group A Better ABK have called for Kotick to be replaced as CEO and are organising a staff walkout.

20211116171946 1It's always nice when a game receives additional graphical updates years after launching. In this case, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice fans got a pleasant surprise with new RTX support for ray tracing and DLSS. The game has gotten not only the latter two tech, but it also received support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). PC players also now have access to other recent enhancements that arrived on Xbox, with better level of detail, materials, and particles. Even with all of this, the game still runs like a dream with ray tracing turned off, averaging 100+ fps at 1440p on an RTX 3090 card. I grabbed a couple of four-way comparison shots showcasing both ray tracing and DLSS at different levels. The ray tracing is obviously the most impressive addition to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. There are three levels, ranging from low to high. High is the only setting to include ray-traced shadows, but the game's performance is, naturally, heavily impacted by this....

Bloodhunt Act 2 UpdateVampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt sank its fangs into fans back in September, with a high of nearly 10,000 players online at once. As of now, it's sitting at around 1,000 players active at any time, which isn't a great sign for a free battle royale game. Regardless, the game was meant to leave Early Access and enter full release soon, but it's been pushed back a touch. If you're one of the people who's been enjoying being a vampire while hunting and being hunted by a bunch of other vampires, then this is undoubtedly a bit disappointing, especially with the Early Access cutoff coming so soon. The game is now set to enter full release in "early 2022" as the devs at Sharkmob AB work to get things ready. Bloodhunt's public Early Access period is also ending next week. While the game was meant to immediately transition into full release, the feedback received from players has led the developer to instead decide on implementing chang...

However, miHoYo is continuing with this trend, as it's reportedly in the middle of developing its third open-world game. According to GamesRadar, miHoYo is opening a development house in Montreal to focus on the new game, and presumably other future projects. While miHoYo hasn't announced anything official, we can guess about what the projects will entail based on some of the company's job listings.      Dragon Ball The Breakers trailer artThe Dragon Ball franchise has seen a massive number of video game releases over the years, and most of them have come in the form of fighting games. Considering that the series has a heavy focus on martial arts and superpowered aliens shooting beams at each other, it makes sense that Bandai Namco would see the fighting game genre as the most natural way to translate the series' concept into an interactive medium. But while games like Dragon Ball FighterZ have found great success, many may understandably want the series to explore new ideas and genres rather than retread old ground. It seems that Bandai Namco has answered these fans' call, as it just dropped a trailer for a new asymmetrical online multiplayer game titled Dragon Ball: The Breakers. The beginning of the trailer shows a CGI cinematic depicting one of the cities in Dragon Ball Z in ruins. An unknown character peers out the window of their home to witness a man running in fear, at which point they go back into...

The Pathless 04When The Pathless launched last year, it became an instant classic in my eyes. The serene world with no handholding and plenty of opportunities for exploration left me enthralled. On PC, the game launched with a year of Epic exclusivity. But now The Pathless is finally out on Steam with a significant discount and bundles to boot. The game was developed by the folks at Giant Squid, who also made Abzu. Unlike the latter, however, The Pathless has a lot more focus on gameplay and progression, as opposed to a more relaxing push forward. Up until November 23, The Pathless is getting a 35% discount. It's currently $25.99 USD, which is a very fair price considering the quality of the game and the amount of content on offer. The game also comes in two new bundles on Steam, if you're so inclined. The first bundles it with Abzu, which will run you $43.68 at the moment (making Abzu under $20, if that sweetens the pot). Then there's a soundtrack bundle for $8.56 USD more. I su...

Dragon Ball: The Breakers gets a PC beta, and links with your Xenoverse 2 save

Most Dragon Ball games give you the obvious fantasy of playing as a superpowered Saiyan warrior. But Dragon Ball: The Breakers is taking a much different approach, where a group of normal humans attempt to survive an encounter with one of the universe's most powerful villains. It's basically Dead by Daylight as an anime game, and a beta has been announced for PC.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (via Steam,) in 2022. "A closed beta test will be organized on PC, letting players get their hands on the game", the devs say in a press release. There's no mention of that beta being available on other platforms, so it looks like PC players are getting a special treat.

The Breakers is an asymmetrical multiplayer game where seven players, controlling non-superpowered survivors, have to complete objectives in order to escape a player taking control of supervillains like Cell, Buu, or Frieza. The survivors have to take advantage of various power-ups and vehicles in the environment as they attempt to build a Super Time Machine and escape the villain.

Conquer Pokémon's Sinnoh region with this Civilization 6 map mod

While we all wait to find out what Firaxis has decided to do next with Civilization VI, players are finding their own fun through the wonderful world of Civ 6 mods. Some mods have brought new life to the 4X game's stale oceans, while others let you summon XCOM's aliens to help you conquer the map. This map mod lets you conquer Pokémon's Sinnoh region.

This mod was created by user Skylar Saphyr to celebrate the upcoming release of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, remakes of the original Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum games, which are set in the Sinnoh region, and launched the fourth generation of Pokémon.

This huge 86x80 map manages to recreate everything from the snowy north to the massive mountain range that splits the region down the centre, along with all of the major forests and lakes. Minor rivers are still procedurally generated by Civ 6's world generator, so no two games will be exactly alike, and there are plenty of easter eggs to discover as well.

Someone has modded GTA Trilogy's awful rain into Doom

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has been a challenging launch for Rockstar Games. The developer pulled the hat trick of remasters from the PC launcher after files were unintentionally left in, though the internet still swelled with separate clips of bugs and oddities from other platforms. One of the more popular clips involves the rain because it sort of looks like glue? Getting anything done in the GTA Trilogy is a challenge when you can't see. Racing? Nope. Need to gun down a baddie? Sorry.

While some modders have stepped in to fix the issue, others are clowning around by adding it to Doom. Nash's Definitive Rain for GZDoom mod makes it harrowingly challenging to see. Nash shared a mod clip to Twitter, and I can barely tell you what's happening in the video.

You can see Doom Guy firing off a shotgun, but who knows who he's firing it at. It looks like Doom Guy doesn't know either, as he inevitably gets beat up by a bunch of demons. I guess you can't rip and tear your way through the undead when GTA Trilogy's rain is clouding your vision.

This popular CS:GO map brings 1v1 to outer space

While Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's Operation Riptide has some neat new maps to dive into, there are always more popping up from the community that look pretty darn impressive, too. One such fan creation is modder Maui's new 1v1 Spaceship map, which brings the mode to an impressive-looking base out among the stars.

From the images on the mod's page, the CS:GO map looks like a pretty spacious, well, space for battling it out one-against-one. There are futuristic, sleek-looking hallways lit by beams of floor-level light to tear up and down, and use to sneak up on your foe. Then there are workspaces full of obstacles to navigate and use for cover, as well as what look like grander rooms with multiple levels to tackle, and multiple entryways to dash in and out of.

The story behind the map hinges on the CTs having expanded into space, which is throwing a challenge to the terrorists. They've decided to try and take down the space station's central nuclear generator, switching off security and clearing out the place as they go, as the modder explains.

The best online board games to play with friends

Looking for some online board games to try out with friends? The biggest advantage board games have over their video brethren is that you can reach across the table to give your friends a slap when they inevitably betray you. Naturally, therefore, you might assume that online board games have little to offer if you can't throttle a dear friend moments after they claim victory.

While the physical aspect – slaps included – may be absent, online board games are still a great way to get your favourite boxes to the (virtual) table more often. Handily, they also come without the pesky need to host other folks in your home, so you can save on snacks, drinks, and the effort of tidying up after. On top of that, most online board games are also much faster to set up and play and can be played against AI if you're a mate or two down. In case you're not all that fussed on the online aspect and are just looking for some of the best PC board games on Steam then we have a separate list for those.

If you're keen to give them a try, we've rounded up the best online board games below so that you can get your analog fix in the digital world.

     Battlefield 2042 review – a new conquest

The Battlefield series has always strived to deliver multiplayer moments that you can't get anywhere else. Jumping out of a jet, sniping another pilot, and hijacking their jet in Battlefield 3; levelling buildings in Battlefield: Bad Company 2; parachuting away from a collapsing skyscraper in Battlefield 4 - when it comes to scale and bombast, DICE regularly knocks it out of the park. Other times, the studio has taken a swing and a miss by trying something completely different, like Battlefield 2142, an experiment in future warfare that launched with countless issues and sparked some wariness in my 13-year-old self about buying multiplayer games at launch.

Battlefield 2042's reveal trailer shows that DICE is doubling down on what it's known for: fun over realism, chaos over order, and plenty, plenty of 'Battlefield moments'. Set in the near future, the FPS game depicts a world wracked by the effects of climate change and the collapse of the European Union. It's a pretty bleak prophecy, with many cities being ravaged by tornadoes, sandstorms, massive battles, and sometimes all three. But at least the soldiers are having a good time: they can modify their weapons while running around, or hitch a ride on tornadoes and then use their newfangled wingsuits to glide to safety. Maybe the future won't suck.

Climate crisis aside, warfare doesn't appear to have changed all that much. Battlefield's classic Conquest and Breakthrough modes return, scaled up with even larger maps and clustered capture zones rather than flags dotted around the map, all to accommodate the new 128-player count. Breakthrough, the latest incarnation of the long-running Rush mode, divides players into attacking and defending armies that fight over a linear series of objectives to establish dominance across the whole map.

Rainbow Six Extraction release date and everything we know

Want to know when the Rainbow Six Extraction release date is? Previously known as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine, Ubisoft puts cooperative play first in this PvE shooter. In teams of three, Extraction pits players against a deadly parasite that takes the form of a sticky black mould. This parasite is known as the Sprawl - if left unchecked, it can infect and kill humans.

Extraction borrows a number of core elements from Rainbow Six Siege, including the operators Ela and Vigil, who appeared in the first trailer back in 2019. The gameplay should feel familiar to anyone who has dabbled in Siege's multiplayer, and we fully expect to see more Rainbow Six Siege operators become part of the game.

When describing the game for the first time, Ubisoft made it clear that you don't have to be a Siege player to enjoy Extraction. This game may be a good way for new players to get to grips with a few of Siege's mechanics, as players will use some of the same weapons, gadgets, and operators. Here's everything we know about Rainbow Six Extraction so far.

Halo Infinite ranks – new ranking system explained

Halo Infinite's surprise multiplayer announcement means players can now access the FPS game for free, before the game's full campaign release in December. Fortunately, your progress carries over at release, so you'll be able to continue to climb the Halo Infinite ranks without starting over again.

The way progression works in Halo multiplayer has changed quite drastically from the previous games. Instead of working your way up the ranks by earning XP, this time you need to rank up through the Halo Infinite battle pass, which some players are calling too grindy. Instead of earning XP directly from matches, the experience earned from daily, weekly, and ultimate challenges goes towards the battle pass to progress through the 100 tiers and earn rewards.

Currently you can access all Season 1 content including maps, core modes, Academy features, and the battle pass. You also have access to Ranked Arena, where you can start playing ranked matches in modes: Slayer, Capture the Flag, Oddball, and Strongholds. Here's how the ranking system works in Halo Infinite.

Landing is now a thing in Total War: Warhammer III

Back in June you may remember Creative Assembly published a large dev blog looking at changes that will be coming to tactical battles in Total War: Warhammer III. You'll be pleased to know there's even more coming, as the studio has released another update looking at various quality of life changes coming to the strategy game.

The headline change is that flying units have remembered that they also have perfectly serviceable legs, and they can now land if they want via a new on/off toggle for flyers. On a slightly more serious note, this does actually open up some decent tactical options for using aerial units, especially for flanking.

Joining this change is an array of new hotkeys, the Three Kingdoms formation mechanics, changes to healing effects, as well as new visual changes for things like bracing and health bars. You can also toggle a new option that will automatically put the game into half-speed when you're firing off a spell, for extra precision. There seems to be just as many mechanical quality-of-life changes as there are visual ones.

How to disable Halo Infinite high-res textures to boost fps on gaming PCs

In less than 24 hours, over 270,000 players on Steam have jumped into the Halo Infinite's multiplayer open beta, making it Xbox Game Studios' biggest launch on Valve's platform, with countless more joining the fray via Xbox Live. However, some Spartans are struggling to maintain high frame rates despite meeting the Halo Infinite system requirements, and it appears that an optional texture pack installed alongside the main game could be to blame.

In a Reddit thread, user BruhGiveMeANameFFS highlights that uninstalling Halo Infinite's high res texture pack could help to boost fps and get the game running more smoothly. Using their setup of an Nvidia GTX 980 Ti and Intel i7 5820K, their frame rates allegedly increased from 23 fps to a whopping 72-100.

While we weren't able to replicate such a significant increase in our own testing, several users report that this fix has helped to raise their frame rates. One user, with an Nvidia GTX 1070, reported a 20-30fps increase, while someone with an AMD RX 590 claims disabling the texture pack made the game 'playable'.

Dying Light 2 starts easier than Dying Light, but there's a hardcore mode for zombie game pros

The start of the first Dying Light game can be notoriously unforgiving, as you find yourself facing hordes of Infected without all the tools or skills needed to fend them off. But that's not the case in the sequel, as Dying Light 2's lead designer, Tymon Smektała, tells us in an interview ahead of the game's launch next year.

"We got a lot of feedback from the first game, people saying, 'Hey, it's difficult to get into Dying Light'. Actually, that was on purpose," Smektała explains, emphasising that players feeling "weak and defenceless" at the start of the game leads to a "feeling of empowerment" later on. "At some point they realise, 'Hey, now I'm stronger, I can overcome those obstacles.'"

The progression in Dying Light 2 works differently, however. "It starts a little easier on regular difficulty, but we also have a difficulty dedicated to the hardcore fans of the first game - we call them 'Harran survivors'... so if they want the same level of challenge, they will definitely get it."

     Halo Infinite Yoroi samurai armor

Want to know how to get the Yoroi samurai armour in Halo Infinite? Following the surprise launch of the much-anticipated FPS game, Halo Infinite's first season, Heroes of Reach, lasts until May 2, 2022. So there's plenty of time for you to get all of the Halo Infinite season one battle pass unlockable skins based on characters from Halo: Reach. However, 343 Industries has also tweeted that the first mini-season begins next week. It's called 'Fracture: Tenrai' and features the Yoroi armour as the event's main unlockable skin.

Previous Halo games had character customisation to make your Spartan warrior look unique, so it's no surprise to see that Halo Infinite's battle pass has a plethora of helmets, weapon skins, and pauldrons to make your Spartan stand out. Despite not being the first Japanese-themed armour set in Halo (the Hayabusa powered assault armour has been around since Halo 3), the Yoroi samurai armour is one of the more elaborate looking designs in the game so far.

So, if you ever wanted your Spartan warrior to have that samurai look, complete with a snazzy Kabuto helmet, then you should definitely mark in your calendars when Fracture: Tenrai goes live.

Fortnite NPC locations – where to find Rust Lord and Kakashi

Want to know where the Fortnite NPCs are? Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 is now live, and it's all change for how quests work, as Fortnite punchcards return. Punchcards are obtained from Fortnite NPCs and each contains a series of quests for you to complete.

Each of the Fortnite NPC punchcards has five quests you need to complete to finish their questline, some of which ask you to go into The Sideways. Luckily, you only need to talk to these NPCs once to begin their questline, though since you only have five punchcard slots, you can only pick up five questlines at once. Once you've completed a questline, you are free to find one of the other NPCs and start their punchcard quests.

NPCs don't just give out quests. They also have items for sale, taking gold bars as payment. Some of these items are vital to complete quests, so it's worth remembering where they are. To help you out, we've put together a guide to all the Fortnite NPCs locations. There's already a hint that Epic will add more NPCs to the map soon, so do check back often to see if there is anyone new to find throughout the season.

All of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 punchcard quests

Want to know how to complete all of the Fortnite punchcard challenges? For those who weren't around when punchcards last appeared in Fortnite, they provide a series of challenges to be tackled in a particular order. Fortnite punchcards fall into two different categories: daily and weekly punchcards, and character punchcards.

Each character punchcard has five challenges for you to complete, with each one appearing straight after the first one is complete. You can only follow up to five questlines at a time, so look at the Fortnite NPCs locations to find out where to pick up another questline after you've finished all five in one batch.

You may wish to plan to complete several of these challenges in one go, so here are all of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 punchcard challenges in the game. Some quests refer to a new area called the Sideways, which has all sorts of nasty creatures inside. There's a ton to go through right now, and more quests will appear when more NPCs appear in the game - this week sees Rust Lord and Kakashi join the list.

Dying Light 2 introduces a paraglider, with some Tony Hawk Pro Skater-like tricks

Techland's 2015 zombie game Dying Light is well known for its exhilarating parkour, and its upcoming follow-up Dying Light 2 will likewise offer a veritable playground for freerunning aficionados. Alongside an expanded and improved parkour system, the sequel also introduces a way to not only survive falling off a skyscraper, but to swoop your way across the city, well out of reach of the hordes of hungry Infected below.

The paraglider is a simple piece of equipment: once it's strapped to your back, you simply open it mid-fall to release the canopy, and carefully steer and stabilise it until you reach the ground. You can't glide forever, but air vents and gusts of wind reset your stamina and carry you further.

It may seem like a natural fit for Dying Light 2, but Tymon Smektała, lead game designer, tells us that the idea came from left-field. The paraglider, he explains, is the brainchild of lead gameplay programmer Bartosz 'Głowa' Kulon - głowa being the Polish word for 'head', so nicknamed because he has a "head full of crazy ideas" - some pretty brilliant ones, from the sounds of it.

Hearts of Iron 4 playerbase soars as Paradox reports poor performance

Paradox Interactive, the publisher behind strategy games Crusader Kings III and the upcoming Victoria 3, as well as city builder sensation Cities: Skylines, has today published its report for the third quarter of 2021. Spoiler alert: it could have been better.

Buried among the business stats and numbers were some neat game-specific facts, such as Hearts of Iron IV receiving more than twice the number of players now compared to what it did during the height of its launch period in mid-2016. It's one of Paradox's most popular grand strategy games, and contributes to the five million active users the publisher also reports for October 2021 across all its titles.

The report was mainly mired by disappointment, however. This quarter has proven to be one of the worst in company history - revenues are at a two-year low, with profits for the quarter the worst on record, the company reports. One of the big driving forces behind this quarter's slump involves the writing off of several projects that Fredrick Wester - newley re-appointed CEO - states the company felt had been in development for too long, and weren't of the desired quality.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human makes running away cool

Twenty years after the events of the first Dying Light game, the zombie virus has spread throughout the entire human population. It hasn't taken hold of everyone yet, though - humans in the post-apocalyptic stronghold of Villedor track the progress of their infection with a biomarker, and keep it under control by staying away from the dark.

During the day, the streets are packed with lurching hordes on every corner, but the night holds even more terrors - not only do the zombies enrage when the sun sets, protagonist Aiden Caldwell is also in danger of losing his humanity as the dial on his biomarker steadily ticks down the longer he spends in the darkness.

Personally, I'd set up a UV nightclub and spend every evening drinking enough not to notice when I inevitably turn. Aiden, however, is a cool guy on a mission to find his sister, so he spends every waking moment risking it all for complete strangers, because you don't survive very long in the end times without making a few allies.

Battlefield 2042 specialist skins challenges – how to customise your specialist

Want to know how the progression system works in Battlefield 2042 to unlock skins? After weeks of silence, EA and Dice have revealed how players earn cosmetics in their upcoming FPS game. Battlefield 2042's progression system invites players to complete difficult in-game challenges in exchange for cosmetics. These cosmetics include weapon skins and specialist outfits, allowing players to express themselves on the frontline.

Battlefield 2042 scraps the traditional class system used in the previous entries and instead opts for Battlefield 2042 Specialists. Specialists can equip any primary or secondary Battlefield 2042 guns, and they have access to a unique gadget and trait to help them stand out. With 128 player servers and only ten specialists at launch, unlockable outfits ensure each player has a distinct look.

The progression system doesn't just focus on player cosmetics, you also have ribbons, weapon unlocks, and player cards to obtain, as you rack up countless wins. Here's everything you need to know about the Battlefield 2042 progress system, including what you can unlock, which cosmetics are available, and more.

New World devs have banned over 1,200 players for trade and housing exploits

Amazon Games has permanently banned more than 1,200 players for using a bug to duplicate in-game coin and resources, and for a similar "attack against a different game system" that was used in housing, resulting in items being removed from the economy and trade post listing being cancelled. Community manager Luxendra explains in a blog post that the first wave of bans happened on November 2, which the team estimates eliminated over 80% of duped coin and item value from the MMORPG's in-game economy.

"The remaining duped items have continued to hurt many players' experience," the community manager says. "It didn't affect all players or worlds equally, and also more significantly impacted players who were pursuing end-game goals and gear. We apologise for the impact this has had on some of our most dedicated players. It's disheartening to see others cheat to obtain what you have worked so hard to achieve, while also hurting the economy in the process."

Luxendra says Amazon Games banned an additional 460 players for using the original trade or newer housing exploits on November 15 after the team managed to "unravel and identify" where the items and coin landed. "By doing so, we were able to remove 98% of remaining duped items and coin in the game," they share. "The small amount of duped items that remain were a result of players who stumbled upon the duping issue but did not take exploitive action, and will not be banned."

Though Halo started out on Macs then joined Microsoft, historically the series hasn't had much of a presence on personal computers. I didn't really have the luxury of devoting a cool 500 words to a single character in my Sherlock Holmes Chapter One review, firstly because I'm a believer in word economy, but secondly because what I wanted to talk about is a bit of a spoiler. It's integral to the plot of the game and it's revealed very quickly once you start playing, but it's also not mentioned in any of the promo blurbs or marketing, so I'm guessing it's meant to be a fun little "Oh!" moment. The development team at Techland has moved on from Dying Light's setting of Harran in a nuclear-powered 'salt the earth' parting blow, and has shifted focus to Villedor. You play as a stranger, Aiden, travelling to this once-majestic capital to locate his missing sister, and the second you step foot into its guarded walls you're faced with a city kitbashed together from pieces of Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Ostrow and other European landmarks. In Villedor proper – a city that's been designed by actual town planners and urban designers – you see the scope of what Techland is going for. This is a big game, with some big ideas.      Mortal Shell evil genius 2 xbox game pass pc november 2021We're halfway through the month, which means we get an update on what's coming next to Xbox Game Pass for PC. If you're a fan of wacky action, Souls-likes, and world domination, you'll want to pay attention. Eight games are rounding off Game Pass for PC in November 2021. These include Mortal Shell, Evil Genius 2, and My Friend Pedro. And all of which are pretty damn good. You can play a couple of games already, so long as you have EA Play. I didn't include these as PC games, but they are per se. Both Dragon Age: Origins and Dead Space are available via Cloud Gaming. But again, you'll need to have an EA Play subscription, which comes along with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.   The other games start becoming available tomorrow. Right out the gate is Next Space Rebels, a "YouTube in space" game, available on November 17. Following that, we have four games landing on November 18. This will include Exo One, an interplanetary exploration game...

Halo Infinite Battle Pass Slow ProgressionHalo Infinite's multiplayer open beta launched yesterday, giving players their first taste of what it's all about. For the most part, the community has been happy with it. It's certainly less buggy than its two main competitors, Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042. However, complaints regarding how slow the battle pass is in Halo Infinite have been flooding the game's official Reddit. As highlighted by this tongue-in-cheek post from l7arkSpirit, a lot of Halo Infinite players are unhappy with the current battle pass progression. Players are reporting that three or four hours of gameplay is the equivalent of just one level on the battle pass. Given that there are 100 tiers to work through, the potential of this grind seems excessive.   It gets worse If the battle pass in Halo Infinite was slow because of a design oversight, that would be one thing. But as usual, it appears that there are more sinister reasons for this progression model. Players ha...

2 Necro 1440p Dlss Perf Nvidia DLSS 2.3Nvidia is continuing to improve its graphical power utilizing various AI improvements as the company announced the launch of (Deep Learning Super Sampling) DLSS 2.3, available now for everyone. Through the use of motion vectors, DLSS 2.3 allows sharper image production with less ghosting and flickering. One example PC Invasion was shown during a briefing on the update utilized Doom Eternal. The way the embers moved throughout the environment looked as natural as can be without any sort of trailing.   Even something seemingly irrelevant to the average gamer like how a side-view mirror looks in Cyberpunk 2077 along the road gets a boost in DLSS 2.3.  How DLSS 2.3 improves quality To achieve these image results, DLSS 2.3 takes upwards of 6,000,000 pixels from the current frame within a game and previous frames. The pixels then pass through the developed AI Tensor Core network to determine the information from the frames that can be reused to create higher-quality images. This le...

5 Chernobylite 1440p Nvidia ICAT DLSSTo many, spotting graphical differences when changing display settings could be a bit difficult. Luckily for them, Nvidia is offering up an option to look at these differences with a new Image Comparison & Analysis Tool (ICAT). Available for free, whether you use an Nvidia GPU or not, ICAT allows users to compare up to four screenshots or videos at once. You'll be able to check them in one of two ways: a side-by-side viewing or a nice split-screen slider that you often see on Nvidia's own website.    ICAT makes comparing simpler While other software that allows for the same thing exists, Nvidia is hoping that ICAT makes comparing visuals easier for everyone. Overall, Nvidia wants to show just how powerful the company's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) is compared to the competing FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) from AMD.  The software lets you align matching images and videos up to make sure you have the same frames side-by-side. On top of that, you can trim, pan, and ...
