Sonic Frontiers may not be out until November

The latest game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series may not be out until November, according to a leak from the PlayStation database. At the moment, all fans know about the Sonic Frontiers release date is that it's currently due out in Holiday 2022 - which tallies with the new report, but SEGA may have a more specific date already jotted down.

When the new 3D Sonic game was first teased back in May 2021, SEGA and Sonic Team confirmed that it was due to launch in 2022 - that's this year now, folks, remember? - but otherwise didn't offer any specific details. Finally, just last month at the Game Awards SEGA confirmed the game as Sonic Frontiers - an open-world 3D Sonic game where nothing can possibli go wrong.

The release in the trailer for Sonic Frontiers was down for a vague Holiday 2022 but a new leak from the PlayStation database via PlayStation Game Size on Twitter suggests that SEGA has already pencilled in November 15, 2022, as the Sonic Frontiers release date.

Virtua Fighter 5 PC port is

A Virtua Fighter 5 PC port of the latest game in SEGA's long-running fighting game series is "possible" according to the series' producer - which has the potential to be one of the best fighting games on PC - although it may be "difficult to achieve this".

The Virtua Fighter series has been around since 1993 but hasn't had any representation on PC in two decades. It was assumed that the most recent version of the latest game in the series, last year's Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, would finally make the journey to PC - but that hasn't happened yet.

In a new interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki Online (via Twisted Voxel) - presumably Google translated, so there may be some miscommunication. Virtua Fighter series producer Seiji Aoki was asked about a possible port of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown and confirmed that the original arcade version of the game "is based on PC, so technically it's possible". However, there are a few problems that the team would have to solve before it brings the game to PC - notably, crossplay.

Stardew Valley may get more updates:

It's possible that Stardew Valley may yet receive a 1.6 update, or at least further updates after last month's minor patch to fix some long-standing bugs. In a new interview with developer Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone, he says that - despite moving on to Haunted Chocolatier - "there's always room for improvement" on Stardew Valley.

Last month, Barone released a couple of updates for Stardew Valley - versions 1.5.5 and 1.5.6. While the developer teased new content with the earlier patch, when 1.5.6 finally showed up it only had a few minor fixes to the game's mod support - welcome, for sure, but not what players were hoping for.

Beyond that, it's been over a year since the release of Stardew Valley's substantial 1.5 update and players were probably hoping for a 1.6 version to offer something similar. Now, in an interview with Vgkami on Haunted Chocolatier, Barone suggests it might still happen - but he currently doesn't have any plans either way.

What if: Dota 2 heroes were marketed like LoL champions?

Dota 2 and League of Legends are often compared to one another. They both trace their origins back to the same Warcraft 3 custom game, they both have an enormous roster of playable characters, and they're the two biggest MOBAs in the world, so these comparisons are inevitable. But it's like comparing a Thanksgiving Day parade balloon to a giant blimp. Dota 2 is compared to League. League is not compared to Dota 2, because League is so big it blocks out the sun.

As I gaze, forlorn, into the mirrored plating of my replica Dota 2 Aegis of Champions, a single tear rolling down my cheek, I lament Dota's relative lack of recognition. It's a magnificent multiplayer game, with a skill ceiling so astronomical that ten-year veterans still have plenty of room for improvement, and still some prodigy can just wander in with a completely unorthodox approach and blow everyone out of the water.

Unfortunately, you need to learn several dusty tomes' worth of gubbins to truly appreciate things like this, which isn't an appealing prospect to many people. But you know what is appealing to lots of people? Virtual K-Pop girl groups. I'm dead serious. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and League has gallons of high-fructose premium skins, pop songs, merchandise, and premium tie-ins on tap to help wash down their convoluted MOBA. Meanwhile, us Dota players are the flies rolling around in vinegar, screaming and vomiting.

GoldenEye 007 suddenly has Achievements, sparking hopes for a release

An Xbox Achievements list for classic James Bond FPS GoldenEye 007 has suddenly leaked online, making it seem like a re-release of Rare's iconic N64 shooter may finally be on the cards - almost a year after a build of the planned GoldenEye remaster leaked.

GoldenEye 007 was developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the N64 in 1997 and, prior to Halo: Combat Evolved, is one of the most important console FPSs ever made. However, due to the rights issues surrounding the game - Nintendo gave up the Bond IP and Rare is now owned by Microsoft - GoldenEye has never been re-released on any other platform.

Microsoft and Rare clearly had a go at releasing a GoldenEye remaster, as last year's highly advanced leak proved, but presumably couldn't sort the rights out. However, the sudden release of an Achievements list for GoldenEye 007 on the Xbox database - as spotted by TrueAchievements - makes it seem like a re-release may finally be on the cards.
