How hard is Elden Ring – tips for beginners

Want to know how to play Elden Ring? The ambitious and long-awaited new Soulslike game is nearly here. Elden Ring marks a departure from the well-trodden Dark Souls series, but keeps the taxing difficulty that players expect. We've seen plenty of glowing praise for the latest FromSoftware game, including in our Elden Ring review.

It's pretty safe to say that Elden Ring is a tough game. Frequent ambushes and enemies that can kill you with a single hit can make the first few hours very difficult. To help you get up to speed, we have some tips to help beginners beat even the hardest of Elden Ring bosses, and everything new players need to know about Elden Ring's mechanics. Some of these mechanics require more in-depth explanations, such as the Elden Ring map fragments and how to play Elden Ring multiplayer.

Before we begin, one way you can save yourself a massive headache is to have a notepad to hand from the very start of the game. Elden Ring won't hold your hand when it comes to keeping track of side quests or if there's an item that you can use at a specific place to uncover valuable items or powerful weapons. With that said, here are our top Elden Ring tips:

     The best Elden Ring weapons

Want to know what the best Elden Ring weapons are? Many of the early game weapons are lying around in treasure chests or on corpses, just waiting for you to pick them up, while others require you to beat some tricky Elden Ring bosses. Whether you are building your character for melee combat or using runes to buff your intelligence or faith attributes, there are weapons out there with unique and powerful Elden Ring weapon arts that fit your character build.

Of course, having the best weapon won't be much use if you don't have good defensive items equipped and lots of healing items at your disposal. Therefore, we recommend upgrading your flask with Elden Ring golden seeds or grabbing some of the Elden Ring crystal tears to augment the Flask of Wonderous Physick.

To help you progress early in the game, we've put together the locations of many early-game Elden Ring weapons that are particularly strong, at least for your first few hours in the open-world game. There are far more powerful weapons out there, of course - we'll be sure to share any particularly powerful discoveries in this guide, too.

Lost Ark Guardian Raids list, tips, and how to unlock raids

Lost Ark Guardian Raids are a challenging set of endgame activities with some high-level rewards on offer if you manage to defeat the deadly boss in each trial. In most cases, you need to party up with other players to take on a Guardian and you need to optimise your skillset for higher-level Guardian Raids. Some foes have nearly impenetrable armour, for example, and you need Weak Point Affix to deal with that.

This guide explains how to unlock Guardian Raids and how the reward system is structured. It also lists each Raid with a few key tips for handling the bosses you'll find within and when it might be better to just let a few days pass without challenging a Guardian Raid.

If your Lost Ark class just isn't cutting it, make sure you've optimised your character's Engravings and have the right Ability Stones for the situation. If all else fails, you can always use the Powerpass to level up a new character in a class that suits your needs more effectively.

Genshin Impact Divine Ingenuity event: how to share custom domains

So you want to know about the Genshin Impact Divine Ingenuity event? Divine Ingenuity is a limited-time event in which players can travel to specifically crafted 'domains' where the goal is to reach the end-point as quickly as possible, collecting as many Adventure Coins as they can along the way.

If you think this sounds like something out of a Mario game, you're not wrong, but there's no official crossover event happening here. For whatever reason, Mihoyo wants to treat us to some platforming fun. You must complete five preset domains in order to complete the event, and you can only progress to the next domain by completing the one preceding it.

Each preset domain is different, with varying combinations of terrain, mechanisms, and event traps. In addition to the preset domains, players can create and share custom domains once they've completed the Divine Ingenuity world event. You can store up to five such creations, but you can't share custom domains with other players until you've completed it yourself at least once. You can read more details about the event on the official Genshin Impact blog, but here's a summary of the key details.

Genshin Impact Ayato materials – all ascension materials

Looking for Ayato's ascension materials? The head of the Kamisato Clan, and Ayaka's older brother; it looks like the mysterious Ayato could arrive in the Genshin Impact 2.6 update. Now's the time to start gathering all the materials you need to ascend Ayato, one of the next Genshin Impact characters.

Ayato's abilities have been datamined, so we know a fair bit about the five-star Hydro character, including that he leads the Shuumatsuban, the ninja organisation that our favourite little sleepy ninja, Sayu, belongs to. The community are eagerly anticipating Ayato's arrival, so it's a great time to start collecting the materials you need to unlock additional abilities and fully ascend his character.

According to datamined information, Ayato shares ascension materials with other Hydro characters, such as Kokomi and his sister Ayaka. Many of his materials can be found across Inazuma, but they take a long time to collect. Ayato's materials are all readily available, so you can start accumulating them now - here are all the materials you need to fully ascend Ayato.

     Rainbow Six Siege dev:

Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege is over six years old and it's still one of the best multiplayer games on PC, with a lot of new content coming soon in Year 7 Season 1 - Operation: Demon Veil. Siege is in such a strong position, in fact, that the game's director says it should be "pretty intimidating" for any team-based tactical shooter competitors.

Rainbow Six Siege is getting ready to launch its Year 7 with Demon Veil, complete with a new operator who can repair breaches. Speaking to PCGamesN, creative director Alex Karpazis confirms that Siege is here to stay, and that it's "going to receive all the support it needs to be as successful as it needs to be". He adds: "We have long-term ambitions".

Perhaps the most surprising thing about Siege is, despite still being incredibly popular, there has never been a direct triple-A competitor. We asked Karpazis about this, and he told us, "I feel sorry for any game that tries that kind of recipe now".

League of Legends patch 12.6 notes – Anima Squad skins, new Rune

The League of Legends updates are coming thick and fast. LoL patch 12.5 has hit the live server, introducing a wonderful selection of bee-inspired skins to the MOBA. Don't bee-lieve for one second, though, that's all we got. Riot has tweaked Master Yi and Seraphine with some solid changes, while several other LoL champs got some quality-of-life adjustments, too.

Now, though, it's time to look toward LoL patch 12.6. We're sticking with the animal theme this time around as the new Anima Squad skins have hit the PBE. If you've been out of the loop, a few champions - such as Vayne, Miss Fortune, and Jinx - are getting some punky skins themed around bats, bunnies, cats, and more. You can check out the in-game clips of these in action and their splash art in the skins section below.

We're quite early into the patch cycle, so we don't have many balance changes to share just yet outside of a few items. Keep checking in, though, as we'll keep this post regularly updated.

Here's the League of Legends 2022 patch schedule – all season 12 release dates

If you're a League of Legends fan, you'll know that the MOBA game regularly receives hefty patches full of new champion skins, balance changes, and more. These arrive roughly once every two weeks - usually mid-week - and get a good round of testing on League's public beta environment (PBE) over the fortnight or so leading up to their live debuts.

While they can vary in scale, with some patches ushering in significant new events and content while others focus more on a core set of adjustments to fine tune gameplay balancing, they're always a really important part of the game. As such, it's important for fans - veterans and newbies, alike - to get an idea of when each patch is coming, and what'll be in it when it drops. The good news is, we've got you covered.

Riot Games has now unveiled the League of Legends 2022 patch schedule, which kicks off with League of Legends patch 12.1 on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Below, we've laid out all of the release dates for the League of Legends patches coming up in 2022 for season 12, and when our regular patch notes go up we'll link them below, too, so you've got all you need to know in one place.

Force Destiny 2 on Steam Deck and you could be banned

Last month, Valve's Steam Deck portable PC finally shipped to its first customers, and Destiny 2: The Witch Queen dropped too. Unfortunately, it's not possible for Steam Deck owners to play the FPS game's massive expansion, as Bungie says Destiny is "not supported" - and those that try to force it to work may face a "game ban".

The last couple of weeks saw some major gaming releases, including the long-awaited launch of Valve's Steam Deck handheld, Destiny 2's latest expansion, and Elden Ring. However, while FromSoftware's Elden Ring is fully verified to work with Steam Deck, The Witch Queen and one of the best multiplayer games on PC is not.

According to developer Bungie's updated guide to Destiny 2 on Steam, "Destiny 2 is not supported for play on the Steam Deck" due to the handheld using Proton. Unless users install Windows on Steam Deck instead - which currently doesn't have the right drivers - players who try to load Destiny 2 "will be unable to enter the game and will be returned to their game library after a short time". Furthermore, Bungie warns that "players who attempt to bypass Destiny 2 incompatibility will be met with a game ban".

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 GPUs may feature 71% more CUDA cores

Nvidia confirmed that it suffered a data breach at the end of February, and we're now seeing several GeForce RTX 4000 graphics card details emerging from all corners of the internet. This potentially gives us our clearest look at Lovelace's specs ahead of its reported release at the end of the year, and what kind of improvement we can expect versus the current generation RTX 3000 series.

Hardware leaker harukaze5719 has neatly summarised the key specifications of Nvidia's five desktop GPU processors, in conjunction with fellows xinoassassin1 and kopite7kimi. Based on their findings, it appears that the flagship AD102 die will feature 18,432 CUDA cores. This would be a whopping 71% improvement versus the GA102 currently found in Nvidia's best graphics cards, such as the GeForce RTX 3090.

It seems that Nvidia is also planning to massively increase the amount of L2 cache on its RTX 4000 GPUs, with the least powerful AD107 die boasting 32MB of the stuff, topping out at 96MB with AD102. This means that RTX 4000 cards may have between 6-16 times the amount found in GA102, but we'll need to see how this impacts real-world performance.

How to get first and second Lost Ark Awakening Skills

Wondering how to unlock your first and second Lost Ark Awakening Skills? Lost Ark Awakening Skills are your character's ultimate class skills, and unlocking them requires several hours of questing across the western half of Arkesia, through dangerous areas that pose a significant challenge.

The first Awakening Skill is relatively straightforward to obtain, requiring you to complete a quest line from Beatrice after finishing the main storyline. The second, however, is a more complex undertaking, essentially serving as an introduction to how Lost Ark's endgame works, taking you to new regions, unlocking new Chaos Dungeons, and putting your character builds to the test.

Combined with the right Lost Ark engravings, Lost Ark's Awakening Skills are the key to making your class the best it can be. Completing both quests unlocks the skills for all your characters, so thanks to the Lost Ark Powerpass system, you won't have to grind nearly as much if you want to start a new character. This guide explains how to begin the Awakening Skills quests, where you'll need to go, and how to avoid the bugs that may lock you out of completing the quests.

Elden Ring patch takes aim at performance and the Fire Giant

There's a new Elden Ring patch and it should fix a couple of big problems. The latest update for FromSoftware's excellent open-world game primarily focuses on an issue that can affect performance, but should also fix the Fire Giant fight so that players can actually kill him while on horseback.

It's already one of the best RPGs on PC but Elden Ring has received criticism from a number of players due to the Soulslike's performance - even going so far as to knock the Steam review score down to "Mixed". The Steam Deck version was promised a fix for this week, so suffering players are hoping the main PC version will be too.

With any luck, that has already happened. The Elden Ring patch 1.02.2 for today is small at only 13.1MB, though FromSoftware says it fixes "an issue where the graphics card was not being used, resulting in slow performance". Some players on the Steam forums report a smoother performance, but others report no change.

Valve fixes stick drift with a Steam Deck update

Early Steam Deck adopters ran into trouble yesterday, with multiple reports highlighting that the handheld already suffers from stick drift just days after launch. Following a swift investigation, Valve's hot on the case fixing the problem with an update less than 24 hours later.

Stick drift can sometimes be fatal for a controller without physically repairing the analogue stick, since it's often caused by a fault in the electrical components. In the Steam Deck's case, the problem is actually software-based, with a previous firmware patch accidentally introducing what Lawrence Yang calls a "deadzone regression" in the thumbsticks.

Instead of opting for the lengthy workaround to recalibrate the joystick's deadzone in desktop mode, now all you'll need to do is download Valve's latest patch, which squashes the bug entirely. Reddit user Hollandje, who previously suffered from a wandering cursor, tells us the new firmware does just the trick and their thumbstick "works fine" following the update.

League of Legends patch 12.5 notes – Bees! champion skins, Master Yi changes

The updates keep on coming, LoL fans. League of Legends patch 12.4 has made its way to the live Rift, bringing a raft of new skins, champion balance changes, and - of course - steely new Champon Renata Glasc. That means it's now time to see what's headed our way with its follow-up update. While the latest round of skins gave Kassadin, Shen, and Qiyana some dazzling new Shockblade styles, this fortnight's offerings are fare more whimsical. Let's take a look.

The new skins coming with League of Legends patch 12.5 add more champions to the game's Bees! alternate universe, with four new looks on the way. As you'd expect, the names are pun-tastic, with Heimerstinger, Nunu and Beelump, Orbeeanna, and BZZZiggs joining the skin line. You can check out the in-game clips of these in action and their splash art in the skins section below.

As for balance changes, this cycle we're not seeing too many champions getting a round of buffs or nerfs, though if you're a Seraphine or Master Yi main, you'll want to check out the updates below as they're both receiving a few key tweaks each.

Lost Ark ghost ship locations, event guide, and Eiburn Wound

So you want to know about Lost Ark ghost ships? These are weekly raids that you can access starting from item level 460 and after reaching Rohendel. There are three different kinds of ghost ship and they each have different minimum item level requirements in order to take them on.

These raids can be lucrative, with loot ranging from Destruction and Guardian stones through to legendary and heroic tier seal books to upgrade your Lost Ark engravings. You can also get your very own ghost ship as a reward by completing these events. No matter which ghost ship you decide to tackle, you can only receive loot from these raids once per week, so make sure you know when the Lost Ark reset times are in order to time your attempts optimally.

Different ghost ships are available during different times of the day. You can use your Procyon's Compass to keep track of the ghost ship spawn times and set reminders in case you're worried about forgetting. In terms of location, all three ghost ships spawn in the oceans to the west of the map; their exact location is denoted by a grey ship silhouette on the main map, and you can look them up in your search bar, too.

Some Steam Deck users are reportedly suffering from stick drift

02/03/2022 Valve has released a patch, fixing stick drift on the Steam Deck

A controller can pack many buttons, be as comfortable humanly possible, and look stylish to boot, but it's all for naught if it suffers from dreaded stick drift. Despite Valve assuring customers that it's doing everything it can to avoid thumbsticks wandering without the input of their user, some Steam Deck owners are reportedly experiencing stick drift just days after launch.

At least three posts have landed on Reddit, all showcasing the right analogue stick's input moving with a mind of its own. Stijnnl's cursor drifts downwards in Civilization 6, and while Hollandje uses the Steam Deck's own controller input test to visualise the problem, they confirm it also affected their gameplay after "light use". Specifically, Hollandje tells me it only interferes when the "right joystick is set to mouse input in games like Worms Revolution,'' and not necessarily when using the default controller settings.

Currently, Valve doesn't make it easy to calibrate your Steam Deck controller in handheld mode, but the Reddit users found a fix by heading into desktop mode and using Big Picture in Steam's desktop app.

Ubisoft offers housing and salary advances to Ukrainian employees

Ubisoft has dozens of studios all over the world, including two offices in Ukraine. Today, the French publisher has shared an update on how it's been supporting the developers in those offices following Russia's ongoing invasion of the country. As initially reported by The Loadout, As employees seek shelter, Ubisoft is paying salaries in advance, providing additional money to cover "exceptional costs", and setting up alternate housing in nearby countries.

"As events escalated in mid-February, Ubisoft recommended all teams take shelter in a place they considered safe," the company says in a blog post. "To support them as they made these difficult decisions, each team member was provided additional funds to help cover exceptional costs and paid their salary in advance to account for any potential disruption to banking systems."

Ubisoft adds that "we have set up alternative housing in neighbouring countries where our colleagues and their families can take shelter if they wish and are able to do so." Additionally, the company has donated €200,000 to relief efforts spread across Save the Children and the Ukrainian Red Cross.

Genshin Impact goes Super Mario Maker this week

Genshin Impact is getting a new event this week that's all about charging through player-created obstacle courses while you collect coins and avoid traps. Basically, you're getting the chance to trip your friends up in challenging assault courses like you would in Super Mario Maker.

Divine Ingenuity is the name of the event, though you'll need to complete some tasks before you can create your own tracks. Once the A New Star Approaches quest is completed, you'll need to beat five preset levels. Once that's done, you can tackle the Divine Ingenuity world quest to gain access to Custom Domains.

Alongside various bits of terrain, you can fill each course with fragile platforms, wind currents, and flooring that'll appear and disappear. There are also certain traps that will either reduce a runner's health or give them a status debuff if they get caught in them. Not everything is out to get you, though, as there are blessings, too. The Leaping Boon gives you a jump buff, whereas the Striding Boon boosts speed for a short period.

Some things are synonymous with Soulsborne games. Approachability, which Alice Bee thinks is a very relative term. Nail-biting combat, intricate worlds, a story that's drip-fed through it all. But it's the littlest bits that round off their identity. The dong of their menu sounds (I love a good menu noise) and their elevators operated by pressure plates.

There's also one other big thing that Soulsborne games deliver on. As any seasoned player knows, it's not a FromSoft game without the laughs. While there's plenty of humour in the cliff falls and silly invasions, I'm talking in a more literal sense. The NPCs often round off their sentences with a chuckle. But so far, Elden Ring lacks the despairing "hahaha" of old. And it makes me sad.

I'm replaying the first Portal at the moment, so maybe I'm just extra-susceptible to the Valve man coming around selling tickets for his hype-train, but playing Aperture Desk Job was like sitting in a nice warm bath. It's a "playable short" - basically a 30-minute tech demo designed for the Steam Deck, to show off how to use all the little flaps and controller bits on Valve's new handheld PCxGameboy toy (like the Aperture Hand Lab for VR from a few years back). Crucially, though, Aperture Desk Job is: a) free; 2) playable on a regular PC; and iii) set in the Portal universe.

In fact, it has surprisingly large implications for said game series (no spoilers in this post, btw). And it just reminds me how good Valve are at, you know, making games. Please, Valve, make more games.

FFVII and FFXII Dungeons Inspired Stranger of Paradise Locations

The dungeons people encounter in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin might call FFVII and FFXII locations to mind. Square Enix's Director Daisuke Inoue revealed that past games' places influenced the ones appearing in the spin-off. In particular, he cited how Stranger of Paradise's Sunken Shrine and the Cavern of Earth involve ideas from past games.

First, Inoue hinted that a dungeon from FFVII ended up being used to inspire the look of the Sunken Shrine location. (This could be a reference to The Gelnika or Junon Underwater Reactor.) Here's what he had to say about it.

Take the Sunken Shrine, for example. This location is underwater, and the motif used was a dungeon from the original Final Fantasy VII that's in the sea.

When we were looking at all the elements we needed to design it, we thought about turning to document from back in the day, or even looking at how Final Fantasy VII Remake had interpreted the original game in its level design.

However, given that Final Fantasy VII Remake is a dedicated remake, as opposed to one environment, it's only natural that it's been made with an incredible amount of detail. The dev team apologized and said that it wouldn't be possible to make it in the same style (laughs).

Instead of focusing on depicting areas with the same degree of faithfulness that Final Fantasy VII Remake did, we decided to make sure that the level design in Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin was fun in its own right and created our own interpretation of the dungeon as best we could.
I believe we've made an interesting dungeon, with lots of differences in height, and where the level design makes you think: "…is this that place?"

As for the FFXII dungeon reference, Inoue seemed to reference its Tomb of Raithwall and Demon Wall when talking about the Cavern of Earth location.

In the original Final Fantasy, the Fiend of Earth lies in wait in the very depths of the Cavern of Earth. To match that feeling in our game, I thought that the dungeon should use a motif that featured the undead and have an atmosphere that feels really "earthy."

This idea of a location crawling with the undead led to the concept of it being a place where the dead sleep, so we decided to take inspiration from tomb area in Final Fantasy XII.

The original area in Final Fantasy XII features quite an impressive boss - even by the Final Fantasy standards! - who stands in the way of the player, and we wanted to channel this concept into our dungeon. However, it would incur a lot in the way of costs if we were to make it a boss, so we ended up implementing the idea into the dungeon as a mechanic.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Epic Games Store on March 18, 2022. People who pre-order a digital copy will get early access on March 15, 2022.

Trails from Zero Release Date Falls in September 2022

NIS America promised The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero would appear in Fall 2022, and now it has a release date within that window. People will be able to find it on the PS4, Switch, and PC on September 27, 2022. There's also a new trailer looking at Lloyd Bannings' adventure to go with the announcement.

The new video helps explain what's going on. People familiar with the localized entries in the Trails of Cold Steel series likely already met Lloyd. The trailer offers an idea of what Lloyd is dealing with as a Crossbell Police Department officer and shows his allies. It begins with him looking at a picture of his family, before shifting to Elie MacDowell, Tio Plato, and Randolph Orlando. (Again, familiar faces to people who keep up with The Legend of Heroes.) It then shows Crossbell proper. After introducing everyone, it hints at people might investigate in the city-state.

Here's the Trails from Zero release date trailer.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero Western release date is September 27, 2022. It will be available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. There will be both standard and limited edition versions available. The LE comes with a soundtrack, art book, and acrylic stand.

new NIS America logo 20th anniversary in December 2023

NIS America revealed a new logo and a refreshed website ahead of its 20th anniversary in 2023. The new logo employs a sumi-e style, imitating simple brush strokes. This look is understated compared to the previous NIS America logo, which used a gradient of red, blue, and purple colors. The text in the old logo even wiggled and dissolved at the tips.

For reference, below is the old company logo:

old America NIS logo

Video game publisher and developer Nippon Ichi Software established its NIS America branch on December 24, 2003, and it is rooted in Santa Ana, CA. NIS America handles game localization, marketing, and publishing in the region.

A new logo is just the tip of the iceberg for what NIS America has in store for 2022 and 2023. The publisher released Monark, an RPG from former Shin Megami Tensei developers, for the PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in February 2022. NIS Classics Vol. 2, featuring Makai Kingdom: Reclaimed and Rebound and Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman, will launch in May 2022. Following a delay, shooter Yurukill: The Calumination Games will arrive in North America in July 2022. And finally, Disgaea 6 Complete and The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero will release in North America in Summer and September 27, 2022, respectively.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Trailer Revals New Yellow Form for Piccolo, Potential Unleashed

Piccolo is getting a new look in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The latest trailer for the upcoming CG anime film shows him and Goku's son Gohan squaring off against the "Super Heroes" of the Red Ribbon Army.

Toei Films uploaded the "Part 2" trailer to its YouTube channel on March 1, 2022. The "Part 1" trailer debuted at Jump Festa 2022.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwXiAhcSv2o

The new form Piccolo takes on in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is named "Potential Unleashed." Gohan used a similar technique (also known as "Ultimate Form") in the past. This form is revealed during the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero trailer, after the Namekian fighter is attacked by Gamma 2. When shifting to his Ultimate Form, Piccolo's skin color changes from deep green to a light yellow. Other scenes from the trailer include Gohan confronting Gamma 2. He also faces the Red Ribbon Army and its boss, Magenta, in an attempt to rescue his daughter Pan from their clutches.

The new key visual for the film emphasizes Gohan and Piccolo's battle against Gamma 1 and Gamma 2.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Poster Revals New Yellow Form for Piccolo, Potential Unleashed

Set some time after the events of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Super Hero features the return of the Red Ribbon Army, a criminal organization thought destroyed by Goku. The Red Ribbon Army employed Dr. Gero to create android fighters like Android 17 and Android 18. However, the "Gamma series" androids Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 were created by Dr. Hedo, a new scientist in the employ of the Red Ribbon Army's new leadership. The film will also feature the involvement of Android 18, her husband and former Z-Fighter Krillin, Bulma, Goten, and Trunks.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will premiere in Japan on April 22, 2022. It'll get a summer 2022 release in North America.

Soul Hackers 2 Developers Teaming Up with Creators Outside of Atlus

In an interview with Famitsu, the developers of Soul Hackers 2 shared a bit of information about the title. This includes their efforts to team up with creators outside of Atlus. Additionally, the developers spoke briefly about the general development of the title. The interview shares some insight as to how the developers of Soul Hackers 2 plan to keep this entry in line with previous titles in the series. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

The development team of Soul Hackers 2 is actively trying to team up with creators outside of Atlus. The interview mentions the music production studio led by Keiichi Okabe, MONACA. Okabe has helped compose the score for the NieR series, as well as for select entries in the Tekken series. However, outside of MONACA, no other creators are mentioned for potential collaborations.

You can read the interview excerpts below:

  • "We are actively taking up the challenge of teaming up with creators outside of Atlus. MONACA is in charge of the music, but we're not avoiding the Atlus sound team!"
  • "We wanted to create a new pillar to connect to. So we wanted to take the essence of something the series doesn't have and create something new."
  • "... We are currently working hard on development, while being conscious of our international audience with the hope that Soul Hackers 2 will be enjoyed by consumers in every country."

Soul Hackers 2 will release on August 25, 2022 in Japan and August 26, 2022 in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Elden Ring Patch 1.02.2 fixes Fire Giant bug and graphics card bug on PC and save progression on PS5

FromSoftware released Elden Ring patch 1.02.2, which fixes various graphical issues and game crashes on PC and improves saving on PlayStation 5. One such Elden Ring bug would cause players' games to crash upon meeting certain conditions during the Fire Giant boss fight. Other bug fixes include one where the PC version of the game would not use the computer's graphics card. The patch is immediately available for PC and PS5.

The Elden Ring version 1.02.2 patch notes are as follows:

PC:

  • Fixed an issue where the graphics card was not being used, resulting in slow performance.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to quit under certain conditions during a battle with the Fire Giant.
  • Fixed other bugs.

PS5:

  • Changes to save game progression even when the game is not terminated.

It's unclear whether the graphics card issue is the cause of recent problems surrounding Elden Ring's frame rate drops on PC. The previous 1.02 patch addressed various graphical issues and frame rate drops "under certain conditions." However, some players still report poor graphical performance despite having computer specs above the recommended level.

Furthermore, the PS5 version of the game suffers from sudden crashes mid-game. In some cases, players' consoles will turn off without warning. In order to combat this, the 1.02.2 patch has implemented save game progression even in cases players do not exit the game themselves.

Elden Ring is immediately available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. If you're interested in learning more about the game and its performance, you can check out our official review.

Capcom community licenseOn February 28, Capcom announced a new set of guidelines for its Community License Agreement. While the intent seemed to be to make it easier for small-to-medium-sized community events to officially run Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, the result was quite the opposite. Going over these new guidelines, Capcom seems to have made an ultimatum for any events running its flagship game. That being our way or the highway. We will go over these changes below, as well as what local level tournament organizers have had to say about the changes. First, we will go over the positives of these changes, as there is really only one. By agreeing to Capcom's terms, all events now have an official outlet to legally run Street Fighter tournaments approved by Capcom. That's good, but this is clearly a Faustian bargain, as the negatives greatly restrict and limit what tournament organizers can do. All events will now have a cap for the amount of their prize pools. Any event giving out ove...

Project Hel Review 1While I thought that Ghostrunner shipped a little light on content, it did receive more updates over time. A hardcore mode with completely remixed enemy placement, as well as a wave survival mode, did a lot to extend the game's appeal on top of the base campaign. With Project_Hel, the game has received an even larger chunk of additional gameplay that's well worth trying. It adds seven whole new levels. Two of which are boss battles, while the remaining are entirely new stages full of enemies to slice your way through. The DLC doesn't make for a markedly different experience, but it's enough that people should enjoy what it has to offer. The premise here is that you play as Hel, one of the bosses from the main campaign. You follow orders from Mara as she dishes them out. Well, mostly. Hel isn't really too fond of following orders. One level has Mara explicitly telling her to minimize casualties. And yet, this results in Hel going out of her way to kill e...
