WoW's next expansion gets revealed in 43 days

In the wake of the lawsuit over alleged discrimination and harassment at Activision Blizzard, the company announced that the annual fan convention BlizzCon was on indefinite hold. But development on games continues amid the controversy, and the Blizzard side of the business is finding smaller, more targeted ways to provide announcements on upcoming software, including the next World of Warcraft expansion.

"On April 19, the World of Warcraft development team will reveal the next expansion," the company says in a new announcement. "We're excited to show you what we've been working on and where your adventures in Azeroth will go next." There are no details yet on what form that announcement will take.

Historically, WoW expansions have launched roughly every two years, which would put the upcoming expansion in for a 2022 release. However, given the disruption at Blizzard over the past few years - not just the lawsuit, but the COVID-19 pandemic that's affected the entire industry - it would not be surprising to see the expansion slip from that window.

Aerial city builder Airborne Kingdom alights on Steam

Most city-building games have you gradually expand the territory you cover, but Airborne Kingdom takes a different approach: the sky is literally the limit. Rather than buying up land, you've got to carefully consider how much lift you're generating in order to keep your skybound settlement aloft. It arrives today on Steam, and it's worth checking out if you passed it by on its Epic Games Store launch.

Airborne Kingdom is a beautifully styled and relaxing game, but there's plenty of management to do as you keep your city flying and expanding. Your goal is to reunite a shattered kingdom, so in addition to keeping everything balanced and your citizens' needs looked after, you'll be doing some travel. As you pass over the procedurally generated world, you'll be able to send scouting planes down to the surface to collect resources and new city dwellers.

The world you fly above looks a lot like the map from the intro to HBO's Game of Thrones: everything looks hand-crafted and wood-cut, while your little floating city appears to operate on a combination of clockwork and balloons.

I don't know that I, personally, would call the Nintendo 64 platform game Glover a "classic" (even "cult classic" might be stretching it), but retro-focused studio Piko Interactive is determined to remind us all of why we've gotta love the glove. Glover is getting rebuilt from the original N64 source code for a brand-new release on PC.

The Steam version of Glover will launch on April 20, which feels oddly appropriate. "The N64-era cult classic Glover is coming soon," the devs say in the announcement. "This version of Glover is a completely redone from the original source code (N64 version of the game), and improved for modern PCs." The devs are currently "implementing achievements and trading cards," according to the Steam page. "Once we finish that, it is all systems go!"

While the N64 version of Glover is perhaps the best-remembered - in relative terms, anyway - it did come to PC back in the day, too. Judging by the state of the documentation over on PCGamingWiki, however, that version will not tend to play nicely with modern machines.

FFXIV's next event is for the Little Ladies

The next event for Final Fantasy XIV will kick off on March 14 and will see the return of Little Ladies' Day. This seasonal quest coming to one of the best MMOs on PC will only last until the end of the month, but any players who participate will nab a jaunty little crown for their own king or queen.

Final Fantasy XIV is about to hit its 6.1 update in April, which will bring big changes to the MMO - such as splitting the dreaded Praetorium dungeon into three and allowing players to get a lot more fashionable. Speaking of looking good, though, before that hits Square Enix is bringing back the Little Ladies' Day event.

While previously this event's been teamed with the Valentine's Day celebration, this time around Little Ladies' Day is a month late - the MMO only had its Halloween event in January, so it's not too much of a surprise. The late release of the Endwalker expansion in 2021 pushed a lot of things up.

This Star Wars VR fan remake looks perfect for Oculus Quest 2

There's no denying that Star Wars and the Oculus Quest 2 are an ideal pairing, with Meta's best VR headset providing the perfect platform to enact your Force-fillled fantasies in games like Vader Immortal and Tales from the Galaxy's Edge. However, if you're hungering for more VR adventures set in George Lucas' sci-fi universe, an upcoming fan remake may be just what you're looking for.

Guido Mariano has shared work in progress footage (via UploadVR) of their attempt to develop a fan remake of a classic Star Wars game, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. The latest clip shared by Mariano sees them assuming the role of protagonist Kyle Katarn, using their lightsaber to cut down stormtroopers and deflect their blaster bolts.

Mariano also showcases the ability to slice objects like crates and then manipulate debris with the Force. For you rogues who'd prefer to gun down the Empire's bucketheads instead, you'll be able to use their E-11 blaster rifles against them, too.

     The best antivirus for PC

For all PC-owners, and for gamers especially, it's important to keep yourself safe and protected when using the internet and a good antivirus should be an important part of your repertoire. Built-in with all modern Windows platforms, Microsoft Defender provides a solid antivirus, along with malware defence, biometric logins (e.g. fingerprints), and more. By all means, it's not a bad place to start, but what about those who aren't fond of Windows Defender? Or those who are looking for something a little more comprehensive?

We've got you covered. In this guide, we've gone over eight of the best antivirus providers, weighing up the costs and benefits of each one in order to help you better defend your own PC.

Meet the factions of ELEX II – the Outlaws and the Skyands

Piranha Bytes' sprawling sci-fi fantasy world of ELEX is back in ELEX II, the follow up to the original cult hit. From the creators of Gothic and Risen comes a new chapter in the enormous open world of Magalan, filled with hundreds of quests to sink your teeth into.

You don't need to have played ELEX to throw yourself into the sequel, but the story continues on with familiar protagonist Jax, who is now looking for his son. The wide wastes of Magalan are completely open to him, with no set path ahead to follow, allowing the player to choose which of the 300+ quests to take on next. And as well as hunting around for his absent offspring, Jax is tasked with a colossal diplomatic mission in the face of an alien invasion.

These mighty newcomers seem almost invincible, using their own corrupted form of ELEX to become all-powerful, so Jax must unite the warring factions of his home country to fight against the looming extraterrestrial threat. How he does this is up to the player, whether through gentle diplomacy or aggressive gunslinging, although a lot of jetpacking around will probably be involved.

Before Final Fantasy XVI comes around, Square Enix is bringing us a new IP for its contribution to the world of RPG games, and it seemed we didn't have much longer to wait before checking out Forspoken for ourselves. However, the Forspoken release date has been pushed back from its previous May launch, and now we'll be waiting until this autumn.

"We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022," the developers say in the announcement. "Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all our efforts on polishing the game and can't wait for you to experience Frey's journey this fall."

Forspoken had previously been set to launch across Steam and PlayStation 5 on May 24, 2022. As Frey, you're transported from modern New York City to a magical world called Athia, which you'll explore through magic-powered parkour.

Get 50% off the Razer Kraken Ultimate gaming headset

Equipping your setup with the best gaming headset you can find is just as important as every other part of your gaming PC's arsenal. Sure, your system may be able to push out high frame rates in the best PC games with the settings cranked up to their maximum presets, but the impact of stunning visuals can be quickly undermined by shoddy audio quality. Thankfully, you can grab a great headset like the Razer Kraken Ultimate for half price on Amazon.

US customers can get the Razer Kraken Ultimate gaming headset for $64.99 USD, saving 50% ($65.00) off its $129.99 MSRP. There are savings to be had in the United Kingdom too, where the cans can be picked up for £79.99 GBP, knocking 38% (£50.00) from £129.99.

Featuring custom-tuned 50mm drivers, Razer has designed the Kraken Ultimate with a natural audio curve in mind for the most accurate sound reproduction. However, this doesn't mean that the headset can't produce punchy bass or rich highs, and you should have no trouble placing your enemy's footsteps amidst an explosive scene.

Ukraine benefit DLC planned for Soviet city builder

The Cold War-themed city-building game Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic has Ukraine-themed DLC on the way. The developers say they are working with the game's modding community to put together a DLC pack that will remind players of the "greatness of Ukraine's history and their people." All proceeds will be donated to relief efforts for Ukrainians experiencing the devastation of the ongoing invasion by the Russian Federation.

The DLC is in the early planning stages at the moment. Developer 3Division is based in Slovakia, which shares a border with Ukraine, and the small team behind Workers and Resources says the goal for the DLC is to raise revenue to donate "to those who are in need" in Ukraine. At this point, the studio hasn't yet identified a relief organisation or NGO to handle the donation, but it says the intent is also to make the DLC free for all Ukrainians, provided there's a way to accomplish that.

3Division says it wants to work with its modding community to create special Ukraine-themed assets for Workers and Resources, such as "buildings, vehicles, or other stuff."

How to unlock Chaos and Abyss dungeons in Lost Ark

Lost Ark dungeons are the main endgame activity and something you'll become familiar with as you level up your items. Chaos Dungeons are single-player dungeons that reward you with Lost Ark engravings, rare currency, and high-level equipment - though you're limited on how many times you can run them. Abyss Dungeons are a team effort and the best way to get rare accessories to boost your engravings.

This guide explains how to unlock both dungeon types and what item levels you need for each, along with a few handy tips for tackling the tougher challenges.

You want a good Lost Ark class and strong build for both challenge types. Make sure to use the Powerpass if you have regrets about your initial class choice so you can hit the ground running without grinding through the story again. Unlocking your Awakening Skills before getting started is also a good idea, though it takes a bit of effort and several hours to get them.

Assassin's Creed devs influenced Rainbow Six Siege's new op

The new Rainbow Six Siege season is about to kick off this week, titled Demon Veil, and it introduces a brand new operator to one of the best multiplayer games on PC. Azami is a Japanese bodyguard whose gadget, Kiba Barrier, acts a lot like the hidden blades in Assassin's Creed series - and that's not entirely coincidental.

Fans don't have long to wait until the latest Rainbow Six Siege season arrives in Ubisoft's popular FPS game, and the Year 7 roadmap contains new maps, gameplay changes, and a lot more content dropping this year. The big deal for release, however, is new operator Azami, whose Kiba Barrier gadget can actually repair breaches.

The way the Kiba gadget deploys is via a knife that Azami extends from her sleeve and then throws, but the animation seems partly inspired by the iconic hidden blade from Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed games. We spoke with Siege's creative director Alex Karpazis and asked whether this was an intentional reference.

     Elden Ring Golden Seed locations

Looking for Golden Seeds in Elden Ring? These handy seeds allow you to upgrade your flasks, increasing the uses of Crimson and Cerulean Flasks to help you out when you come up against tough Elden Ring bosses or explore one of Elden Ring's many dungeons.

They can be found across the Lands Between; you can spot them by glowing Erdtree saplings, which make them easy to see from a distance when traversing the expansive open world. To use Golden Seeds, simply rest at a Site of Grace and charge your flask, with each upgrade increasing the amount of Golden Seeds required by one. You can also choose Golden Seed as a Keepsake when you're picking your Elden Ring class during the character creation. You can upgrade your flask ten times and also strengthen them by finding and using Sacred Tears.

There are approximately 28 Golden Seeds in Elden Ring - use our handy map below to locate almost all of the Golden Seeds. We don't have access to the underground map, and some of the locations give multiple Golden Seeds which explains why there aren't 28 pins in the map.

John Romero's Doom 2 level raises over €25K for Ukrainian relief

March 7, 2022: John Romero's new Doom 2 level for Ukrainian relief has raised over €25,000 so far.

John Romero is one of PC gaming's most legendary figures, and he's out here continuing to create new levels for his most famous works. Sigil released in 2019 as a free, unofficial fifth episode for the original Doom, and now Romero has released a new, paid Doom II level supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

The level is called One Humanity, and it's available for €5.00 (about $5.80 USD) on Romero's website. Every penny, as Romero explains on Twitter, goes to the Red Cross and the UN Central Emergency Response Fund. You'll need to make use of a modern Source port of Doom II in order to play the .WAD file.

The new Doom 2 level for charity was announced and released on May 3, and now just four days later, John Romero has announced that their efforts have raised over €25,000 for Ukrainian relief - which is around $27.3K USD or £20.6K GBP - and the count is still going up.

AMD Zen 4 CPUs may arrive slightly later than anticipated

Hardware enthusiasts across the globe are patiently waiting for AMD to announce its Zen 4 release date, alongside more details on the key specs of its Ryzen 7000 CPUs. While recent reports suggest that team red is aiming for a Q3 launch, it appears that this will likely be towards the end of the quarter in September of this year.

Ever reliable hardware leaker Greymon55 has shared information obtained from their contacts at AMD, which are strangely at odds with one another. One source claims Zen 4 will release early in the quarter, another at the packaging plant says there's "no sign of Zen 4 is going into mass production." Greymon55 followed up by saying that Ryzen 7000 CPUs should be in the factory by now if team red plans to release them in July-August.

Whenever Zen 4 CPUs do finally make their way into gaming PCs, it seems that they'll be available before Intel debuts its competing Raptor Lake processors, at least for the time being. It's undoubtedly advantageous for AMD to beat its main rival to market, but it's best to wait until both companies show their hands as a consumer.

Rainbow Six Siege Demon Veil release time – Y7S1 starts this week

Last month Ubisoft revealed the next chapter of Rainbow Six Siege and confirmed that the FPS game's Year 7 Season 1 will be Demon Veil. Now, Ubisoft has quietly confirmed the Rainbow Six Siege Demon Veil release time and date, and it's coming this week - March 8, in fact.

The new season will introduce the multiplayer game's latest operator Azami, who can throw kunai blades and even repair holes and breaches. Ubisoft already revealed Siege's Year 7 roadmap, but failed to specify the exact release date for Demon Veil. Now, it seems the cat's out of the bag, as the developer quietly announced its launch two weeks ago.

Anyone who picked up the Year 7 Premium Pass would have noticed that the special "exotic weapon skin for the MPX" unlocked this coming Tuesday, March 8. Buried in a recent press release, Ubisoft quietly confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege's Demon Veil season is indeed "launching March 8" - and the page for the new season on Xbox consoles even provides a release time, although a slightly different date.

AMD Radeon and Nvidia GeForce GPUs are finally getting cheaper

The best graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia have remained firmly out of reach for many over the past few years, with the components selling well over their MSRP. However, as the severity of chip shortages and demand from crypto miners continues to decline, it appears that we may slowly be returning to the good old days of normal GPU pricing.

According to a report by 3DCenter (via WCCF Tech) that analyses the cost of Radeon and GeForce graphics cards in Germany, prices for both the RX 6000 and RTX 3000 series are at their lowest since January 2021. GPUs are now being sold on average for 35-41% over MSRP, which is undoubtedly annoying but decidedly cheaper than the peak of 200-318% of May of last year.

However, the level of inflation varies between models, with the AMD RX 6800 and Nvidia RTX 3080 being the worst affected with listings averaging 55% above MSRP. So, while it's still probably best to remain patient before upgrading your gaming PC with a new graphics card, there also hasn't been a better time to do so for over a year.

Destiny 2 characters – The Witch Queen classes and subclasses

In the five years since Destiny 2 players first took on the Red Legion in the fight for the Light, the game's development team has spent countless hours iterating on the game's core mechanics. As a result, what were simple Arc, Solar, and Void subclasses have grown to include perk trees, Aspects, Fragments and even an entirely new subclass, Stasis.

Today, the game's Warlock, Titan, and Hunter classes have their own unique kits for each of the game's four subclasses. The Bungie team is constantly iterating in order to keep the game fun and fresh, and as a result, it's no surprise some people are struggling to keep up with Destiny 2's evolving subclass systems.

Rather than just rehashing each subclass and its perk trees, we wanted to develop a guide that reflects the practical applications of each. Below, you'll find a description of each class as well as a general overview that serves to highlight the benefits of specific subclasses and perks. Each of the subclasses also have unique melee options, grenade types and movement modes for jumping, gliding, or dodging, which players can customise in accordance with their playstyles.

Playing Elden Ring before its official launch was an honest experience. I'd flick the game online and see a few messages scrawled on the ground in glowing chalk. It was a Lands Between where "try jumping" wasn't some evil trickery, and "illusory wall ahead" meant discovering a hidden passage.

Since the game's release, the player messages have taken on a different complexion. Before, I trusted in our small community trying its best to get by. Now I must treat every message with caution as they fight amongst themselves. The world is awash with trolls and their terrible craic, but I'm not sure I'd have it any other way.

More companies have been producing Attack on Titan merchandise as the new anime season airs worldwide. In February 2022, Megahouse revealed Mega Cat Project figures based on the franchise. While this merchandise lineup will faithfully use the original character designs, the Mega Cat Project will literally turn the characters into cute cats.

Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2 began airing on January 9, 2022. The English dub version of the new season also started appearing on Crunchyroll and Toonami in February 2022.

Forspoken Delayed Until October 2022

Square Enix and Luminous Productions announced Forspoken is delayed and its release date will now fall in October 2022. Originally, the PS5 and PC game was supposed to appear on May 24, 2022. However, it now will appear on October 11, 2022.

Here is Luminous Productions' full statement regarding the new Forspoken delay. It cited a desire to maintain its quality as the reason for it being pushed back.

We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can't wait for you to experience Frey's journey this fall.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to sharing more about Forspoken with you soon.

The announcement didn't note if this means the In Tanta We Trust prequel Forspoken DLC will also be delayed. That will follow events before Frey finds herself transported to a new world. The character Tanta will feature prominently in it. Back when the May 2022 release date was announced, it had a Winter 2022 release window.

The new Forspoken release date is October 11, 2022 following the delay. It will show up on the PS5 and PC worldwide.

Soul Hackers 2 Characters and English Screenshots Shared

When Soul Hackers 2 appears, it will get a near simultaneous worldwide release. To help provide a better idea of what to expect, Atlus shared new details about it. To be specific, the company offered an array of English Soul Hackers 2 screenshots and details about characters people will see.

Soul Hacker 2's heroine is Ringo, who will be aided by characters like Figue, Arrow, Milady, and Saizo. Ringo and Figue are both Aion digital sentient beings who are attempting to help and save humans. While people will play as Ringo, Aion will be a supporter who provides assistance to the Devil Summoners. Ringo uses soul hacking to revive the recently deceased to help assist in achieving goals.

Each of Ringo's allies are humans Ringo brought back via soul hacking to fight alongside her. They tend to represent different sides. For example, Saizo is a freelancer who isn't affiliated with any faction. However, Milady belongs to Phantom Society and Arrow is connected to Yatagarasu. If Ringo and her allies team up with their demons and hit foes' weaknesses, they can trigger a Persona-style all out attack called a Sabbath.

And here are the new Soul Hackers 2 English screenshots showing off characters, story segments, and battles.

One Piece Card Game

One Piece tipped its hand, as a new collectible card game based on the popular manga series is in development. According to an announcement released by Shonen Jump, the game doesn't have a formal title yet, but is set to go on sale in July 2022 [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

The One Piece card game will be different from existing One Piece-themed card games like One Piece Kizuna Boost. The URL for the Kizuna Boost official website now redirects to the Japanese official site for the new game. It also appears to be planned for a global release. Shueisha opened official websites for the One Piece card game covering Japan, China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, North and Latin America, and Europe.

The sites also hosted a teaser video for the project featuring art from the manga. Little information about how the game plays was available, but some of the card designs showed off characters, point values, and art resembling panels, scenes, and even sound effect text from the manga.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7COvFlB3As

Also on the sites are some planned offerings for the One Piece Card Game. On release, four starter decks will be available, with each themed after a pirate crew: The Straw Hats, Worst Generation, Animal Kingdom Pirates, and the Seven Warlords of the Sea are all represented. The Japanese price for each starter deck is 990 Yen (about $9 USD). A 6-card "Romance Dawn" booster pack will cost 198 Yen (about $1.75 USD). Also available on release is a set of special card sleeves, sold in packs of 70. Finally, a new starter deck based on characters from various One Piece feature films is set for an August 2022 release.

The new One Piece card game will go on sale in July 2022.

Cruel King Great Hero review

Following in the footsteps of The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince, The Cruel King and the Great Hero is another storybook tale from NIS. Fully narrated and set in a picturesque world, this endearing journey promises another endearing adventure.

Yuu, daughter of the Great Hero, lives with her adoptive father the Dragon King in his cavern outside the Monster Village. Every day, he helps Yuu train to follow in her father's footsteps. Every evening, he tells her another chapter detailing how the Hero defeated the Demon King. When Yuu encounters a young sno cub searching for aid in the village, she offers to help. The Dragon King agrees to let her help, but stays close by just in case. And so, Yuu's path to becoming a Great Hero like her father truly begins.

Cruel King Great Hero review

The Cruel King and the Great Hero isn't reinventing the wheel. Instead, it sticks to doing the basics well. Dungeons are vast, interconnected, side-scrolling rooms. Loot and danger dwell inside, but Yuu, armed and pot-hatted, is ready to prove herself. Some sections contain obstacles that can only be overcome under certain conditions. One companion can strike down chests hanging from above, while another can help her float across large gaps. Companions come and go. And when they do, you need to re-equip any items they were wearing previously.

Every encounter Yuu faces is turn-based. It's your typical turn-based RPG combat system; there's nothing ground-breaking happening here. Yuu and her companions can perform basic attacks, use skills or items, defend, or attempt to flee. New skills are acquired when characters hit level milestones, unique to each party member. Since Yuu is a sword-wielding character, her special skills are slashing attacks. She also learns abilities like Survey for determining weaknesses. Accessories and improved weapons grant their own unique boons. It is all very typical of your standard RPG experience.

Cruel King Great Hero review

If you are looking to do a bit of grinding for levels and pocket money, Yuu's Acts of Kindness are the way to go. These side quests open up after completing the first chapter. The residents of the Monster Village need help acquiring ingredients, crafting materials, and other fairly simple tasks that they are too busy to do themselves. Most of the time, Yuu either needs to defeat particular enemies for an item drop or to search the marked section for a twinkling spot with an item to gather. I've earned stupid amounts of money by running these between chapters, as well as some pretty cool accessories that have come in handy. Just note that side questing can get a bit tedious later on if you're trying to 100% the game.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero is a beautiful game with a very touching story. It's extremely approachable, thanks to simple and familiar gameplay mechanics. Yuu's innocence and determination make this a game I highly recommend if you are looking for something to lift your spirits. Sure, it may not change the world, but it could just be the pastel sunshine you need to brighten a dark day.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on March 11, 2022 in Europe and March 15, 2022 in North America. It is out now in Japan.

Nvidia drivers malwareThe fallout continues from the ransomware attack that targeted Nvidia, as it has been discovered that some of the company's older GPU drivers can now conceal malware. According to TechPowerUp, stolen code-signing certificates are being used to place malware on unsuspecting PCs. This was also confirmed by @BillDemirkapi on Twitter. The code-signing certificates expired in 2014 and 2018, but that doesn't stop Windows from recognizing these as legitimate. And this could be a massive issue for those who aren't sure what to look out for. BleepingComputer pointed out the kinds of malware making the rounds. These include Cobalt Strike Beacons, Mimikatz, backdoors, and Remote Access Trojans. This is clearly a problematic situation for Nvidia, and it's unknown how much worse the situation could become in the next few weeks.      Babylon's Fall Review 1I'd been looking forward to Babylon's Fall for some time. I'm a big fan of PlatinumGames and I was eager to play its upcoming work, as I missed out on Astral Chain due to its Switch exclusivity. But as I read the discourse online surrounding Babylon's Fall, it became clear that it would be fighting a nearly impossible uphill battle. People aware of the game were angry about its very existence. After inciting controversy with Marvel's Avengers, Square Enix has failed to heed extreme consumer negativity regarding full-priced games with live service elements. Honestly, I like Babylon's Fall and have enjoyed playing it. It's a pretty good action title, but it definitely leaves a lot to be desired on the live service front and, undeniably, it needed to be cheaper or even free. The consequences of releasing a full-priced game with premium battle passes and a cash shop have already all but sunk the game. It currently sits at a rather dismal 41 on M...
