The delineation between console generations is muddier than ever. Microsoft's two next-gen machines, the Xbox Series X and the slightly lower-powered Xbox Series S, have been out for about a year and a half. In that time, you can count the number of true next-gen Xbox games on one hand. The rare qualifier: Shredders.

     The best Vampire Survivors characters

Want to know who the best Vampire Survivors characters are? You only have the whip-wielding vampire hunter Antonio available when you first start this roguelike game, but by fulfilling specific requirements you can unlock more Vampire Survivors characters, weapons, and items to use in every run

Some Vampire Survivors characters are better than others, depending on their starting equipment or permanent bonuses; the likelihood of finishing a run is more of a certainty with the right build, especially if you use Vampire Survivor weapon evolutions to combine items to achieve their more powerful form.

Nearly every update adds a new Vampire Survivors character to the roster, so to help you get the best start to a winning run, we've picked a handful of characters we consider to be the cream of the crop. For each one, we'll go over their buffs and debuffs, starting weapons, and which Arcana you can choose to amplify the best build for that character.

Microsoft celebrates Windows 11 upgrade as

In the six months since the launch of its Windows 11 operating system, Microsoft has busied itself with upgrading as many of its teams' PCs as it can. Now, the company has shared a glimpse into how the process is going, celebrating the upgrade as "the smoothest we've ever had."

In a post on the Windows IT Pro Blog (via Windows Central), content and social program manager at Microsoft Lukas Velush says that "over 190,000 employee devices" have undergone a Windows 11 upgrade. This spree of OS installations took place over five weeks, meaning the company was able to upgrade over 5,000 PCs a day.

However, the rollout of the OS hasn't been entirely without its hurdles. Velush highlights that "a percentage of [employee] devices" did not meet the Windows 11 requirements and will instead continue to run Windows 10 until their next available device refresh. It also remains unclear how many more systems are yet to receive an upgrade, as Microsoft didn't specify what fraction the 190,000 PCs previously mentioned makes up of the company's total installation base.

Block Quake mod turns the FPS into a LEGO game

There's a new Quake mod out that basically turns the classic FPS game into a Lego game, and it works perfectly with the recent remastered edition. Block Quake is out now and it transforms the game with all enemies, items, and weapons made over with a Lego look.

The Block Quake mod is the latest creation from modder Kebby_Quake, whose previous project turned Quake's weapons into birthday presents for the game's 25th anniversary. While Kebby legally can't use the word "Lego", the inspiration for these "familiar plastic blocks" is obvious.

You can pick up Block Quake here along with some straightforward install instructions. For Quake remastered on Steam, you just have to rename the mod file and put it in one of the game's folders, then turn off 'enhanced character models' in the game's menu. Hey presto, all of Quake's iconic enemies, weapons, and items will now have a Lego-style makeover - including appropriate animations. The dogs are the best, in my opinion, as their figures don't have any opposable parts so they just bounce around.

     FFXIV Crystalline Conflict PvP guide

Wondering how to play Crystalline Conflict? The FFXIV 6.1 patch brings with it a new FFXIV PvP mode, Crystalline Conflict, in which two teams of five players fight for control over a giant blue 'tactical crystal' in the centre of the map. Getting to this crystal isn't going to be easy, though, as the opposing team are set on taking you down, and even the map itself can be dangerous.

FFXIV may be one of the best MMOs of all time, but it's not known for its PvP combat. This new mode aims to change all that; FFXIV Crystalline Conflict is a fast-paced, accessible multiplayer mode without too high of a barrier to entry, designed to welcome new players and seasoned citizens of Eorzea alike.

Those that enjoy a challenge can climb the ranks from Bronze to Crystal tier in ranked mode, but there are also plenty of rewards available depending on your performance, including PvP experience, Series experience, Wolf Marks, and more. According to Square Enix, there's an extensive plan for seasonal content and prizes going forward, too. So, it's time to prepare your hotbars and get ready to learn everything there is to know about the new FFXIV PvP mode, Crystalline Conflict.

     Diablo Immortal system requirements

Diablo Immortal is coming to Windows gaming PCs later this year, and Blizzard has ever so kindly revealed the Diablo Immortal system requirements well ahead of the game's open beta. While the ARPG has been primarily designed for Android and iOS devices, this PC port should feature some platform-exclusive niceties.

Given its smartphone roots, the Diablo Immortal system requirements aren't very taxing at all. You won't need the best graphics card on the market to get the game running, as the 12-year-old Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 and AMD Radeon HD 6850 provide more than enough pixel pushing power. It even works on Windows 7 64-bit operating systems, but we'd strongly recommend using Windows 10 64-bit instead given the former is no longer supported by Microsoft.

You'll be able to play Diablo Immortal how you see fit, using either one of the best PC controllers or going for a more classic experience with your gaming keyboard and mouse setup. The game's UI has also received some extra attention so that it looks great on the best gaming monitors.

Steam Deck update finally adds security options

There's a new Steam Deck update available and it finally adds some much-needed basic security options to Valve's portable gaming PC, including a lock screen and an optional PIN code. Beyond that, the client update also adds a better achievements screen, a few accessibility options, and some battery improvements too.

While some game updates are causing havoc with the Steam Deck, Valve is quietly adding welcome improvements to its console outside of adding support for more games. The latest Steam Deck client update adds a number of useful new features, including some simple security settings that probably should've been there from the start.

As of now, the Steam Deck has a lock screen that the user can set up to use a PIN code and optionally appear on "wake, boot, login, and/or when switching to Desktop mode". You can enter the PIN with the touchscreen or by using nearly every button on the console like you were putting in the Konami code or something.

Season 13 of Apex Legends is arriving May 10th and there's yet another new Legend entering the Apex Games: Newcastle. Newcastle is a defensive character with many, many shields, and who vibes a little like RoboCop crossed with Dead Space's Isaac Clarke. Season 13, dubbed 'Saviors', also introduces some beastly changes to the huge Storm Point map that have been teased over the past few weeks on the Apex Legends Twitter.

I'm going to complain about The Iron Oath a lot. Not because it's bad, but because I'm really enjoying it, and I think it has the potential to really take off.

Think of these complaints, for the most part, as a pre-flight checklist done long before the pilot has even sat down; if the game were not in early access, these would be big disappointments rather than exactly the kind of annoying details that early access is meant to iron out.

The latest Steam Deck software update is a biggun, with Valve adding an arguably overdue lock screen to their handheld PC. This new PIN protection leads a bevy of other features including localised keyboards, a redesigned achievements page, and support for games and apps with multiple windows, which you can now flick between via the Steam button menu.

Without the update, it's possible to just sign into your Steam account once and never need to punch in credentials again, even after a full restart. This is convenient, especially if your Steam Deck isn't at risk of chicanery from young siblings or vengeful housemates, but giving it the Deck a lock screen goes a long way in guarding it from prying hands. It's definitely worth the longer-than-usual update installation, at any rate.

Genshin Impact Ley Line Overflow Returns Until May

People will be able to earn more materials to level up characters and Mora for a while. Genshin Impact once again is offering a Ley Line Overflow event. This is a recurring activity that always lasts a week in-game. When it comes up, people can get more rewards than usual from Blossoms of Revelation and Wealth.

Here's how the event goes. As long as you've unlocked the ability to take on the Blossoms of Revelation or Wealth challenges, you can take part. The Blossoms of Revelation, which drop Wanderer's Advice, Adventurer's Experience, and Hero/s Wit experience materials, unlock at Adventure Rank 8. The Mora-bestowing Blossoms of Wealth appear at AR 12. The first three times you take on Blossoms during the event, you'll get twice as many rewards. You do need to use Original Resin to get the extra Mora and experience items.

The Ley Line Overflow event appeared in Genshin Impact four times so far. It initially came up in February 2021. The most recent instance appeared in November 2021.

Genshin Impact is available on the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. It will eventually come to the Nintendo Switch. The Genshin Impact Ley Line Overflow event will run until May 5, 2022.

Jack Garland Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin protagonist Jack Garland will arrive in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia on April 28, 2022. This announcement is for the Japanese version of the game. His arrival in the global version of the game has not yet been announced. Back in January 2022, Producer Jin Fujiwara teased that Jack Garland would appear in Dissidia FFOO. At the time, he did not specify if Jack would be a global-first character. However, it appears as though he will be making his appearance in the Japanese version of the game first.

Jack, like Final Fantasy's Garland, will be a greatsword user in Dissidia FFOO. Players can use blue crystals to level Jack up. Square Enix announced that it will release a video detailing Jack's skills and weapon skills in the future.

That said, Jack Garland won't be the only Stranger of Paradise character to appear in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. During the Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia livestream, Fujiwara mentioned that other characters from Stranger of Paradise could appear in the mobile game. However, Jack's companions Ash, Jed, Neon, and Sophia have yet to be announced.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is a mobile game that features a plethora of Final Fantasy characters. The title is a turn-based RPG that has players collect weapons to increase their power or grant characters additional skills.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is available for Android and iOS. Jack Garland will arrive in the Japanese version of the game on April 28, 2022.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.11

Square Enix has released the patch notes for Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.11. This includes changes that will be made to various PvP and battle actions. Specifically, Dragoon, Gunbreaker, Samurai, and Machinist have had changes made to their battle actions. The changes to PvP actions are more extensive in terms of Job Classes. Additionally, new items have been added to the game alongside the implementation of Dragonsong's Reprise through the patch.

In regards to PvP, actions for Astrologian, Scholar, White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage, Dancer, Machinist, Bard, Reaper, Samurai, Monk, Ninja, Gunbreaker, Dark Knight, Warrior, and Paladin have been adjusted. The patch notes for Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.11 detail how various PvP actions for each Job Class have been changed. Certain Job Classes like Warrior will only receive an update to a single PvP action. However, others such as Gunbreaker have received multiple adjustments to several of their PvP actions.

Square Enix will be temporarily suspending housing purchases in Final Fantasy XIV through the implementation of Patch 6.11. This is due to an ongoing issue regarding the housing lottery system. Final Fantasy XIV Producer Naoki Yoshida stated that the team is currently testing bug fixes and that the issue will be resolved through future maintenance.

FFXIV PvP Toxic Behavior

Final Fantasy XIV Producer Naoki Yoshida released a statement addressing toxic behavior observed in PvP. While Yoshida thanks players for their interest in the Crystalline Conflict PvP mode, he states that this warning against toxic behavior applies to all PvP modes in FFXIV. First, he addresses "uncooperative" or "lethargic behavior." This is when a player chooses to no longer participate by idling while the PvP match is still going on. The second issue he addresses is using quick chat phrases to "taunt" or using emotes repeated on top of a downed opponent. The official statement provides a more extensive list of prohibited behaviors.

Yoshida also states that those who continue to violate the rules and exhibit toxic behavior in any of FFXIV's PvP modes can potentially get their accounts suspended or banned. The statement goes through how reports are handled and what puts a case forward for action to be taken against a user. While the statement does provide a list of behaviors players should generally avoid, Yoshida mentions that intent and how your actions are received by the players around you are equally important.

Additionally, Yoshida reveals that the development team will be working hard to balance PvP in FFXIV in order to make it a more enjoyable and exciting experience for users.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.

lilith darkstalkers statue

Kotobukiya showed off an upcoming statue of Lilith from Darkstalkers. The statue, which is part of the Bishoujo series, will be available for pre-order from April 28, 2022, at 11 AM JST. This means that for those in the Americas, pre-orders start from April 27, 2022, at 7 PM PST/10 PM EST.

https://twitter.com/Kotobukiya_EN/status/1518747378907435008

In Darkstalkers lore, Lilith is a being that was born from Morrigan's excess energy. This is why she has similar physical traits to Morrigan, and why she wears almost identical clothing. The Lilith statue has her arms above and behind her head, and her hips are arched. When Kotobukiya first announced that Lilith would be the next Bishoujo statue from Darkstalkers, it also shared Shunya Yamashita's concept art for what it would look like.

The Kotobukiya website has not yet been updated to include the Lilith statue. She will likely appear there when pre-orders actually open. Other Bishoujo series statues from Darkstalkers include one of Morrigan and one of Felicia. The Morrigan statue cost $120. It will ship out to North American and European customers between April and June 2022. The Felicia statue cost $139.99, and she will appear in North America in October 2022.

The Darkstalkers Lilith Bishoujo series figure will be available for pre-order from 11 AM JST on April 18, 2022. That is the evening of April 27, 2022, for those in the Pacific and Eastern time zones.

Monochrome Mobius

Monochrome Mobius, a new JRPG set in the same world as the Utawarerumono series, will debut globally. The announcement comes from publisher Shiravune, which is working with developer Aquaplus on the game. Previous Utawarerumono titles waited months or even years between their Japanese releases and their eventual overseas localizations. By contrast, Shiravune is targeting a day-and-date global PC release on September 8, 2022. The Shiravune release will support English, Chinese, and Japanese language options.

Shiravune also uploaded a localized trailer for the game. Its formal title is Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0nPDrwnA9k

Chronologically, Monochrome Mobius is a prequel of sorts to Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception. It stars Oshtor, a major character from Mask of Deception, and focuses on his adventures before becoming the General of the Right in the empire of Yamato. In addition, younger versions of Oshtor's friends Mikazuchi and Munechika (also characters from Mask of Deception) both make appearances as playable party members. Even Nekone, Oshtor's little sister, shows up, though she's much younger than in Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth. The story takes place in and around Oshtor's homeland of Ennakamuy. Oshtor is tasked to investigate some mysterious phenomena, and in so doing meets a mysterious girl, Shunya. Shunya informs him that his father, long thought missing, is still alive. Oshtor then sets off on a quest to find his father, and the truth, in a land at the end of the world: Arva Shulan.

The game itself will be structured more along the lines of a traditional JRPG, rather than the combination visual novel/tactical RPG genre of mainline Utawarerumono titles. It'll have field exploration, turn-based battles with a small party, and character progression elements.

Aquaplus also re-uploaded previously teased gameplay footage, as well as the Monochrome Mobius prologue and its animated opening.

Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten will release on PC, PS4, and PS5 in Japan on September 8, 2022. It will release outside Japan with English, Japanese, and Chinese-language support on PC on the same day. Previous games in the Utawarerumono franchise are available on PS4 and PC. Arknights Near Light

Mobile tower defense game Arknights is launching a new limited-time event, titled "Near Light". It will follow up on last year's "Maria Nearl" storyline, which centers on the knights of Kazimierz.  The event kicks off on April 28, 2022.

Near Light originally launched on the Arknights Chinese server as a 2.5 Year Anniversary Celebration. To promote it, Yostar produced no less than three trailers, including one animated by Yostar Pictures, which is also producing the Arknights: Prelude to Dawn series.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0fTQtQnTA0

Another CG-animated Arknights trailer lays out the premise of Near Light while introducing players to the event's marquee Operators: Flametail and Nearl the Radiant Knight.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K47elku8YdI

Flametail was first introduced in the Maria Nearl event and had a role in April 2022's Pinus Slyvestris mini-event as well. She's a 6-Star Vanguard Operator. Meanwhile, though Nearl already exists in Arknights as a 5-Star Defender, Nearl the Radiant Knight is a 6-Star Alternate Operator for the character. She has among the highest attack stats of all Operators in the game and has a special skill that allows her to be deployed without counting towards the Unit Limit. Like Alternate Operators Skadi the Corrupting Heart and Ch'en the Holungday, Nearl the Radiant Knight has animated character art.

Another preview for the Near Light event properly detailed other Arknights Operators being added to the playable roster.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFmLz-ba4Q8

Besides Flametail and the new Nearl, Near Light will reward players with Wild Mane, a free 5-Star Vanguard Operator. The banners for Nearl the Radiant Knight and Flametail also have a chance of dropping the 5-Star Caster Corroserum. Corroserum is the second "Blast Caster"-type Operator. This archetype was previously monopolized by the 6-Star Caster Ifrit. Two new Operators, Rhodes Island intern Honeyberry and store assistant Pudding, will be added to the in-game Certificate Shop. Finally, a new 1-Star Robotic unit will be added to the free Recruitment system: the Archer-class Justice Knight. Cosmetic skins will also be sold for Operators Pallas, Rosa, Andreana, and Myrtle.

The Arknights Near Light event begins on April 28, 2022, and ends on May 19, 2022. The game is available on iOS and Android.
