Finally, a Doom vs Quake mod crossover

A new Doom Quake mod crossover is in the works to bring together veteran developer id Software's primary franchises - and two of the best FPSs on PC. The Doom/Quake crossover will merge both games and is from one of the modders behind last year's fantastic Doom/Blood crossover 'BlooM'.

If you're a fan of both classic old games Doom and Blood and haven't played BlooM, rectify that right now. The crossover mod merges the levels and styles of both games together to create a wonderfully unique hybrid. BlooM is a ridiculously fun FPS in its own right, and now one of its creators is doing the same for a Doom and Quake crossover.

Mapper and programmer Drugod and Wrath: Aeon of Ruin developer Nahuel confirmed the Doom/Quake crossover this week, which will indeed be similar to BlooM. According to Drugod, the modders will "merge enemies and maps, porting the entire Doom 1 and 2 bestiary, and making a new map merging Doom II's map01 and E1M1 from Quake."

It looks like Gotham Knights co-op is expanding to 4 players

PlayStation may have leaked the reveal of Gotham Knights co-op expanding to feature four players at once, similar to its fellow DC superhero game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League - either in the main campaign or possibly in an unrevealed new multiplayer game mode.

Gotham Knights was always meant to be a co-op game but was announced as only having support for two players at once - despite including four playable characters and Rocksteady's similar Suicide Squad featuring full four-player co-op. The game was originally announced for 2021 but was pushed back to 2022, and won't now release until October.

It's possible developer Warner Bros Montreal used this extra time to add support for four-player co-op. According to the recently updated Gotham Knights' PSN store page (via Reddit), the game offers support for up to "4 network players" at once. The description still states that Gotham Knights can be experienced "in solo-play or with one other hero". If both are accurate, then WB Montreal could be adding a separate mode with four-player support outside the main open-world game.

Final Fantasy 16 devs' cancelled game was co-op Bloodborne

According to Final Fantasy XIV producer Yoshi-P, the Final Fantasy XVI leads were previously working on a new action-adventure game IP "similar to Bloodborne" - except it was also a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer game, too, and may have actually been released in a wildly different form.

In a published collection of Naoki Yoshida's biweekly Famitsu column 'Yoshida Uncensored', which received a fan translation (via ResetEra), the producer reveals that - prior to working on MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV and the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI - he and a number of other leads worked on a different fantasy game that was "basically Bloodborne".

"It was similar to Bloodborne," says Hiroshi Takai, who is now the director of Final Fantasy XVI. "It had the same weapons and guns, and it was in Gothic style." Yoshida adds that it was "not an RPG, but a fairly hardcore
action game." However, it would also have 4v1 asymmetric multiplayer similar to Evolve or Dead By Daylight. "It was basically Bloodborne plus that system," confirms Yoshida. "I think it would've been a huge failure," he adds with a laugh.

Eve Online tactical shooter is in development at CCP London

Eve Online developer CCP Games is working on another FPS game set in the sci-fi world of New Eden, the company revealed during this year's Fanfest in Reykjavik. CCP says the game is currently in pre-production, and that it's an online tactical shooter with "atmospheric visuals" that's being developed at the company's London studio.

CCP has been keen to create an Eve-adjacent FPS for years now: its first attempt, Dust 514 for the PlayStation 3, closed down in 2016 due to low player counts. Its second, another tactical shooter codenamed Project Nova, was shuttered after community feedback and playtesting prompted CCP to go "back to the drawing board" in 2018.

"We recognise that a hard sci-fi FPS game set in the Eve Universe is a very popular concept, and CCP is committed to offering an innovative multiplayer shooter with atmospheric visuals," the company said in a statement released during Fanfest. "We want to show you rather than tell you how we have evolved the concept, and we're looking forward to doing so when the time comes to reveal the game."

Path Of Exile regularly gives players new ways to customise their experience, and in particular loves to gift players new ways to make the game harder. Sentinel, the next expansion, is no different. It launches on May 13th and will introduce new items that follow you around and make the enemies around you stronger - and the rewards for killing them greater.

best spring 2022 anime series spy x family

Looking for a fun show to watch? We're selecting our favorite debuts in the Spring 2022 anime season. Share yours in the comments and on Twitter!

I know a lot of people are probably going to pick Spy x Family, so I'm going to suggest a show that isn't that! (Though it is exceptional and I think folks should watch it.) Instead? I'm going to say give Love After World Domination a chance.

It's a romantic comedy about the lead of a Super Sentai sort of group and the most capable minion of the villain falling in love. It is super goofy! The characters are extremely earnest and inept! They're basically are going on dates in the midst of dramatic fights! Sure, there are only three episodes so far. Still, I'm digging it. — Jenni

It's been a long time since I've been able to watch every notable show in a given season. This spring, though I've found myself keeping up with more weeklies than in the past few years. It helps that the season's got a good spread of overwhelmingly charming blockbusters like Spy x Family and known quantities like the 3rd seasons of Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These. Those would definitely qualify as my seasonal pick for "best", but they're a bit of an obvious highlight, to be honest.

Something a little bit lesser known but quite intriguing is Ya Boy Kongming!, which takes the "Great Man" theory of history and turns it into the "Great Manager" theory of showbiz. Renowned 3rd-century strategist Zhuge Liang (courtesy name Kongming) dies and, in accordance with his wish to live again in "a peaceful world", he's transported and reborn in present-day Shibuya, Japan. There he takes his zillion-IQ intuition and applies it to the much less deadly but no less devilish task of... helping a young woman in her budding career as a pop star.

Where "reading Sun Tzu for business insight" is a hoary old cliche, Ya Boy Kongming! turns "having Zhuge Liang as your wingman" into a hilarious and entertaining show about, well, putting on a show. — Josh

While Spy x Family is the runaway hit of the season (and deservedly so), another Spring 2022 anime series has me just as invested. Deaimon: Recipe for Happiness checks off my love of food-based anime and offers another unconventional family slice of life adventure.

It's an incredibly sweet story set in a family run wagashi shop. Prodigal son Nagomu returns home after a decade pursuing his dream as a musician so he can train to take over the business. But when he arrives, his father informs him there's a new heir: Itsuka, a young girl left in the care of the shop a year ago. Itsuka's father seems to have abandoned her here, and Nagomu feels as though it's his duty to fill in as a father figure until the two are reunited.

Definitely worth a watch if you need a little more food and family in your anime diet. — Annette

Uh...

Wasn't someone supposed to actually pick, er, Spy x Family? — Graham

jotaro figure

Medicos Entertainment showed off a prototype of an action figure of Jotaro Kujo as he appears in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. This item will be open for pre-order in Summer 2022. Even in the unpainted version of the figure, it is possible to see the fine details of Jotaro's snake-patterned pants. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

https://twitter.com/medicos_et_j/status/1521414263142821894

The Tweet uses Jotaro's quote to Jolyne from Stone Ocean, when he tells her that he always cared about her. Aside from the snake pattern, we can see joints on his knees and elbows. He also appears to have a joint on his chest, meaning that you might be able to alter his upper body.

Other JoJo's Bizarre Adventure action figures from Medicos Entertainment on the way include Rohan Kishibe and Polnareff from Vento Aureo. The Polnareff figure is open for pre-order. The Rohan figure will be available starting May 12, 2022.

Jotaro was the protagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders (Part 3), but he still plays a role in Stone Ocean (Part 6). He is the father of protagonist Jolyne. Jotaro appears in the show when he visits his daughter in prison. Stone Ocean is available on Netflix. The second half of the show will stream on the service from Fall 2022.

The Jotaro Kujo action figure from Medicos Entertainment is in development. Pre-orders will open in Summer 2022.

xenoblade chronicles 3 ethel

The newest trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 shows a cutscene of Ethel. Nintendo of America shared the short clip through its Twitter account. As it's only 30 seconds long, it's a little difficult to grasp the full context, but it seems that Ethel will appear as an opponent in the game.

Ethel will debut in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. According to the Tweet from Nintendo, Noah's team respected Ethel after Ethel saved them. However, it seems that she now views them as enemies. Indeed, though she does seem to rescue them in the clip, she does not seem to be a friendly.

In the trailer, Ethel's eyes are both the same color, though when Nintendo first teased Ethel in late April 2022, screenshots showed her with one red eye. Her hair is also shorter than her character art, and she is not wearing her usual outfit.

You can check out the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 teaser clip below.

https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1522678213654233097

Atsumi Tanezaki will voice Ethel in the Japanese audio of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. She previously voiced Agate in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Other roles include Faye from Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia and Iori Fuyusaka in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Nintendo has yet to announce an English voice actor for Ethel.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will launch on the Nintendo Switch on July 29, 2022.
