Someone's making a Pokémon retro RPG game creator

Do you wonder how Game Freak and Nintendo can crank out new Pokémon games every year? Soon you'll be able to try making them yourself, as a developer is building a Pokemon-style "monster tamer" RPG game maker - and a game to go along with it.

While there are plenty of great building games on PC there aren't too many ways to easily build your own games, least of all RPGs - there's stuff like RPG maker, of course, but it can be both confusing and limited. Now, developer Yanako RPGs is working on a retro game maker called Monster Tamer Maker exclusively to build Pokémon-style monster capture games.

They currently have a Kickstarter in progress, which is over 50% of its goal at the time of writing with nearly a month left to go. This Kickstarter is to raise funds for both the game creator and an original RPG the team is making in it called Dokimon. While the crowdfunding sea can be a harsh mistress, lead developer Yana suggests the Kickstarter is mostly to "assist in funding the artwork so that we can make as much high-quality art as possible" to add to the Monster Tamer Maker.

This Skyrim mod adds the iconic Middle-earth Nemesis system

An upcoming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mod looks like it could totally transform it into another popular fantasy game, as it'll bring the iconic Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Nemesis system into one of the best RPGs on PC - and seemingly expand upon it, too.

Nemesis, if you're not aware, appeared in the two Middle-earth games by Monolith and is basically a system where specific enemies can improve or change based on their interactions with the player - so if a random grunt kills you, it'll get a name and promotion and will recognise you when you turn up alive. Nemesis added real personality to the enemies and an element of randomness to the gameplay.

Now, modder Syclonix is creating a new Middle-earth-inspired mod called Shadow of Skyrim: Nemesis and Alternative Death System, or "SOSNADS" for short (yes, they know). In a post on Reddit, Syclonix offers details on what Shadow of Skyrim will add, including the ability for any enemy who defeats you to get "a unique name, increased stats, and special buff" - including dragons and NPCs. The mod's settings will be customisable, too, and you can check out the menu here.

Valve is working on a Steam quiz game, not Half-Life 3

It looks like there's a new Valve game in the works, but don't get too excited - it appears to be a Steam quiz game that users can interact with and customise, and will likely be implemented in an upcoming Steam sale of some type. So, not exactly Half-Life 3.

As uncovered by SteamDB creator Pavel 'xPaw' Djundik on the team's official Discord (via TechRaptor), some interesting new Steam code additions - as viewable on GitHub - clearly seem to indicate that Valve is implementing some sort of quiz game to its storefront. While there are some fantastic free games on Steam, this might not be what most people had in mind.

It doesn't appear to be a simple Steam survey, as the code shows the ability to add questions and answers and to allow videos to be played whether players get a question right or wrong - just the fact that there are wrong answers immediately tracks it as a quiz game, not a survey.

The next Fortnite skin is a Fortnite streamer

It looks like the next Fortnite skin collab to come to the obscenely popular battle royale game is none other than Call of Duty and Fortnite streamer Ali-A, who will likely be revealed today as the next part of Epic's Icon series - which includes other popular streamers such as Ninja.

Ali-A took to Twitter yesterday with a short animated video, done in the style of Fortnite, to temporarily say "goodbye" and that he would see everyone "in 24 hours" and "when I return, I'll look... different." The video concludes with a countdown - which concludes at 8pm BST today - and the Fortnite Creative map code 5135-8778-2901.

The map is a bit basic right now but includes a silhouette of the skin. While the announcement may happen today, something seems to be going with the map on May 17 - as players have uncovered details about an "Ali-A was here" spray tag that will be given away to anyone who gets 15 eliminations on the map on this date.

Rumour: Halo MCC-style Gears of War collection is coming

According to a new report, Microsoft is planning a Gears of War collection in the style of the popular Halo: Master Chief Collection - which would presumably include at least the original trilogy and bring Gears of War 2 and 3 to PC at last - if the rumour is correct.

By all accounts, the Halo MCC has been incredibly successful on PC, so it wouldn't surprise people too much if Microsoft unveiled something like a Gears of Wars Marcus Fenix Collection at the Xbox Showcase around Summer Game Fest next month. That would be a good deal for PC fans in particular, as the likes of Gears of War 2, 3, and Judgement - by Outriders and Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly - are not easily available on our platform.

The report of a Gears of War collection comes via the latest episode of the XboxEra podcast (thanks, VGC), particularly through leaker Nick 'Shepshal Nick' Baker. Baker had discussed the rumour of a Microsoft series getting a "Master Chief Collection-type treatment" on a previous podcast, but now he confirms it as a Gears of War collection.

Reasons Why Ayaka is a Pretty Great Genshin Impact Character

Well, people are in for quite a time in Genshin Impact going forward! Due to circumstances, there current Event Wishes won't be changing in-game for a while. This means Ayaka Kamisato is the featured five-star unit for a time! There's nothing left here but her. Ayaka and the Traveler can be together forever. You know, should someone decide to pull on the banner. Which might work out for a player who isn't psyched about the next five-star, Yelan. There's something kind of enticing about Ayaka being the stay-at-home partner in Genshin Impact. Basically, she's it for a while. So people might wonder if there are any reasons to add her to their party. Well, there are a few.

Ayaka is Easy to Use in Genshin Impact.

People don't need to adjust their play style to use Ayaka. You need to change things up with a catalyst-user with a strange range like Klee or a claymore-wielder like Beidou who excels at counters. Ayaka uses a sword, which is easy to chain into combos. Just keep hitting a button, and she can string up to five hits together. Her charged attack is helpful too, as it deals a flurry of AOE hits in front of her.

Ayaka's elemental reactions in Genshin Impact are also useful. Cryo is one of the best ones out there. On its own, it makes an enemy you're facing use up more stamina. But it works wonderfully with Electro, Hydro, and Pyro. Cryo and Electro leads to Superconduct, which deals more AOE damage to foes and makes them take more damage from physical attacks. Cryo paired with Hydro freezes foes, which makes it easier to defeat a group. Putting Cryo and Pyro together means everything Melts, which leads to attacks dealing more damage. This means she works wonderfully with her brother Ayato and any Electro, Hydro, or Pyro character in-game.

Ayaka also allows for easy application of Cryo on opponents. Her dash attack turns her into an icy fog. Any opponent she runs past gets Cryo applied to them. It also means her attacks deal Cryo damage for a brief time after she stops running. It's a good way to get foes to chill out. Also, her Elemental Burst and Skill both mean she could use the attack, then leave the field if you want to use someone else. Kamisato Art: Hyouka does immediate AOE Cryo damage to a group in front of her, lifting them into the air. Her Kamisato Art: Soumetsu sends what is essentially a brief snow tornado forward to attack enemies for a time. Because she can pop in and out to be helpful, it means she can be in the party and assist even if she's at a much lower level than the rest of your group.

Reasons Why Ayaka is a Pretty Great Genshin Impact Character

Ayaka isn't Demanding.

There are certain pieces of equipment that feel designated for Ayaka. Essentially, you want to focus on improving her Cryo damage, critical hit damage, and critical hit rate. So Mistsplitter Reforged, her signature five-star sword, is ideal. It prioritizes critical damage and offers an elemental damage bonus. But others can be a good fit too. In terms of other five-star swords, Skyward Blade is good due to its increased crit rate, boosted energy recharge, and bonuses for using Elemental Bursts.

Four-star swords you get from quests or events can also work. Amenoma Kageuchi, which can be earned from The Farmer's Treasure quest, helps due to its attack boosts and Elemental Skill bonuses. The Chalk Prince and the Dragon's Festering Desire sword is an option, as it increases her elemental crit rate and her Elemental Skill damage, while making it easier for her to recharge energy. The Black Sword, which comes from the Gnostic Hymn Battle Pass, could be considered as well. This is thanks to its increased crit rate, it boosting her normal and charge attack damage, and its ability to restore her health when she lands critical hits. She's flexible, which is always handy in a game with a lot of characters.

That flexibility also applies to possible artifact sets. Yes, Blizzard Strayer is ideal. It provides a 15% Cryo damage bonus with two pieces and increases her crit rate both when opponents have Cryo applied to them and are frozen. But there are a lot of others someone could go with in Genshin Impact. If you aren't going to have Ayaka on the field all the time, Noblesse Oblige can work. It would prioritize her Elemental Burst damage, while also ensuring her allies deal more damage after she uses Kamisato Art: Soumetsu. If you have a bunch of Gladiator's Finale stuff lying around, that's fine too. She can always use attack and normal attack bonuses.

Ayaka Often Appears in Genshin Impact Storylines.

Ever since Ayaka made her Genshin Impact debut, she's appeared prominently in-game. The heroine is an Inazuma fixture. She first shows up during The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia, the first act of the game's second Archon Quest chapter. She's a force of action throughout that chapter, with her influence helping The Traveler through the story.

Ayaka is also one of the five-star characters with her own story quest. Chapter 1 of Grus Nivis is available. If you completed The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia and hit Adventure Rank 30, you can undertake it to learn more about her.

Most recently, she was one of the stars of Hues of the Violet Garden event. That's the Inazuma festival added in 2.6. In order to unlock new activities, you had to take part in the True Tales of the Violet Garden quests. She made her appearance during A New Painting in Pale Scarlet and played a part in the rest of that storyline.

T h e r e   i s   N o   O t h e r   O p t i o n .

We don't have any other five-star limited units. It is all Ayaka now. She was supposed to leave again on May 10, 2022. But now she's not! Unless Diluc, Jeane, Keqing, Mona, or Qiqi pity break you when pulling on the banner, she's there. Waiting.

Reasons Why Ayaka is a Pretty Great Genshin Impact Character

Aren't you ready to spend eternity together with Ayaka?

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. It will also come to the Nintendo Switch eventually. The Ayaka banner is available in-game for w h o   k n o w s   h o w   l o n g   m a y b e   f o r e v e r .

xenoblade chronicles 3 locations

Nintendo shared some more screenshots introducing locations that will appear in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Each screenshot also shows some plants and monsters that Noah and friends can encounter. The first locale is the Eagus Wilderness, and the second is the Millick Meadows. Each tweet also features a short blurb describing the areas.

Eagus Wilderness has in the background the Fallen Arm that appeared in previous Xenoblade Chronicles games. You can also see some of the flora and fauna that will be in the Eagus Wilderness.

https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1525192932256620544

The second location, the Millick Meadows, is a greener environment considering it is by a body of water. A Territorial Rotbart appears to be in one of the screenshots. That is a recurring Level 81 Unique Monster from the previous Xenoblade Chronicles games. As Nintendo mentions in its tweet for the location, the creatures are not particularly friendly to those walking through it.

https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1525189161514311683

Aside from locations, Nintendo has teased information on the plot and characters for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. In early May 2022, it showed off a short trailer featuring Ethel in an antagonistic role against the heroes. In April 2022, Nintendo also showed off the Ouroboros feature. Characters can Interlink in combat to create an Ouroboros.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will come out on the Nintendo Switch on July 29, 2022.

genshin impact inazuma tourism

The Japanese YouTube channel for Genshin Impact released a tourism video introducing the various locales of Inazuma. Gorou and Yae (with Tasuku Hatanaka and Ayane Sakura providing the respective voices) provide details in-character. The video is almost ten minutes long, and it does not have any subtitles.

Here is the Inazuma tourism video for Genshin Impact:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwb_vdtDPs4

The characters give their thoughts on Inazuma's future based on the different locales. They also teach the viewer about the region's history and lore. For example, when discussing Ritou, Gorou mentions that he is excited about what sort of place will Inazuma become now that the Sakoku Decree is over. As well, when he introduces Kannazuka, he explains the meaning of the name. Gorou and Yae do not interact in the video, as Gorou flees when he arrives at Narukami Shrine and senses her.

In June 2021, Kaeya and Klee discussed the locations and history of Mondstadt in a similar fashion as the Gorou and Yae one for Inazuma. Kaeya and Klee also did not have any interactions with each other in their video. In their case, it was because Klee could not enter Angel's Share, and Kaeya started his segment there.

Genshin Impact is available on the PS4, PS5, and Windows PC, as well as on Android and iOS devices. Version 2.7 will be delayed until an unknown date, with Hoyoverse providing items such as Primogems and Fragile Resin as compensation.
