I have found my happy place! Escape Simulator is such a lovely thing, a first-person simulacrum of escape rooms, built in 3D, with realistic physics. It is, as its title suggests, a simulation of attending a real-world escape room, in a way that almost all room-escape video games are not. Apart from when it's in space.

Minecraft leaks suggest a Minecraft Live 2022 tie-in event

A number of new Minecraft leaks suggest that something new and big is coming to the building game. Minecraft is home to a lot of things, like user-made Dark Souls adventures and working cow GIFs. It's not, however, seen live events of any kind. Well, that could be changing.

Phoenix SC is a YouTuber who makes a mix of Minecraft content, including occasionally looking into leaks. That's the case with this video, where Phoenix SC talks about some interesting bits of information that appeared on the development wiki. In the game's April update, some new lines were added to the development language that specifically teases a possible Minecraft Live tie-in event.

Minecraft Live is a virtual event for news, has developer chats, and features voting for new mobs - with the most recent winner being the Allay. It's also something that's traditionally all online, but not with live events in the game itself. According to Phoenix SC and the development text spotted, this could be changing, at least in the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft.

A Zen 4 AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU could boast a 5.85GHz clock speed

Zen 4 AMD Ryzen 7000 processors launch later this year, and we already know a great deal about team red's upcoming best gaming CPUs. However, it appears that the chip manufacturer may have a surprise or two left up its sleeve, particularly when it comes to one key spec in particular.

During its Zen 4 Computex presentation, AMD showed a pre-production Ryzen 7000 CPU running at 5.5GHz during a gameplay demo of Ghostwire: Tokyo. However, according to Angstronomics, at least one of team red's processors could boost even further with a 5.85GHz Fmax. For those unaware, 'Fmax' basically describes the maximum programmed boost frequency of a processor, which is typically slightly higher than the advertised boost clock.

If true, we could be looking at a Ryzen 9 7950X running 800MHz higher than its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 5950X, making it a prime choice for any gaming PC upgrade. However, we don't yet know how this will translate into real-world performance, let alone how these clock speeds will compare versus Intel Raptor Lake.

Metal Gear Solid meets Pirates of the Caribbean in Frigato

A new stealth game has been announced that's basically Metal Gear Solid and Commandos meets Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirate game Frigato: Shadows of the Caribbean doesn't have a release date yet, but it'll be playable next month during Steam Next Fest.

Frigato is a stealth tactical strategy game that looks like it's basically Commandos or Desperados III but with pirates, although there are clearly elements of Metal Gear Solid in there too - there's a moment in the trailer (below) where the player sneaks around inside a barrel that's very reminiscent of Solid Snake's famous box move.

The game will require players to take control of a small crew of buccaneers and sneak across ships, harbours, mystical islands, and "many other iconic locations". As usual, the British are the villains, although there are various monsters and mythical creatures too - the trailer reveals a mermaid in a bath, which seems to be some sort of boss character. While it doesn't seem like players will be able to steer their own ship, the Steam page promises some RPG game-like elements, such as being able to choose what type of captain you want to be - more bloodthirsty, more gentlemanly, et cetera.

Best assault rifle Warzone Pacific: the top AR in Season 3 Reloaded

V Rising update makes getting upstairs easier

Where are the stairs in V Rising? That's a question many players of the new vampire survival game have apparently been asking, because the new update moves them to a more visible location. There are also several performance tweaks available for the open-world game, which has been skyrocketing up the charts with over 1 million copies of V Rising sold on Steam in its first week.

The V Rising patch 0.5.41591 notes include the line "Stairs have been added to the castle floors tab in the build menu to make it easier for players to find them." So if you've been wondering how to get upstairs in your castle, now it should be a little easier to do so! Sliding threateningly up staircases has been a key tenet of being a vampire since the days of classic 1922 silent film Nosferatu - that's where all the juicy people sleep, after all.

Among the performance improvements added are a texture quality setting and an FPS limit option, which should both come as welcome additions for players with less graphical oomph in their machines. A performance issue caused when fighting night marshal Styx the sunderer has also been rectified.

Best Warzone Pacific guns: the top weapons for Season 3 Reloaded

Want to know what the best Warzone Pacific guns are? Warzone Pacific Season 2 Reloaded completely changed the battle royale game by unifying the Vanguard Royale and Battle Royale playlists together. This means players no longer have to use Vanguard weapons if they own any of the guns from Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War, and we're continuing to reap the rewards in Season 3 Reloaded. Rebirth Island has also gone through radical changes, adding new areas to encourage players to explore the map.

Picking out the best Call of Duty Warzone Pacific weapons can be difficult, especially with over 100 different options to pick from across three games. The latest weapons added to the FPS game are usually underpowered to avoid them dominating the meta early on, but we highly recommend unlocking every weapon as early as possible. Occasionally there's one or two weapons that manage to launch with completely broken stats, so it's worth keeping an eye on this page to find out which guns are currently performing well.

Warzone Pacific is surprisingly well balanced these days, but there's always going to be a few outliers that manage to outperform the rest of the guns in their weapon type. Here's everything you need to pick the best Warzone Pacific guns.

Best SMG Warzone Pacific: the top SMGs in Season 3 Reloaded

Looking for the best SMGs in Warzone Pacific? Caldera, the new Warzone map, has completely changed the way the battle royale game is played. Compared to Verdansk's large open spaces spread throughout the map, Caldera is much tighter overall, packing each area with unique points of interest to keep things interesting. As a result, long range battles aren't as prevalent, causing weapons types like the best AR in Warzone and SMGs to dominate the meta.

If you're still trying to pick off enemies from a distance using the best snipers, you need to have a reliable secondary weapon like the best SMGs in Warzone Pacific to immediately blast any flankers away. Don't forget to check out our best Warzone loadouts guide to see which attachments you need to build these game-breaking setups.

Call of Duty Warzone Pacific Season 2 introduced one of the biggest changes we've seen in the game for some time: merging the Vanguard Royale and Battle Royale playlists into one playlist that includes weapons from Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard. Compared to other weapons that saw updates though, Season 3 Reloaded only makes a handful of minor tweaks to a handful of Warzone Pacific SMGs.

Silent Hill style Doom mod is getting an Unreal 5 remake

An impressive Doom mod from the creator of the recent FPS game Turbo Overkill is getting a standalone remake in Unreal Engine 5. The Total Chaos mod is basically a new Silent Hill game and was already great in the Doom engine - an Unreal 5 remake could be one of the best horror games on PC.

There are many fantastic Doom mods out there that make you question how modders actually crammed these things into the basic Doom engine - whether it's turning Doom into Shinobi, a post-apocalyptic open-world, Mortal Kombat, or the best Sonic the Hedgehog game.

Total Chaos is one such mod. You can download it from ModDB as long as you have a classic Doom game to run it with, and it's essentially a new, free, first-person Silent Hill game. Now, its creator Wadaholic - who recently worked on the excellent Turbo Overkill - confirmed that they are working on a full, standalone remake of Total Chaos in Unreal Engine 5.

The best V Rising base locations

Want to know where the best V Rising base locations are? You could just build your maleficent manor in Farbane Woods and leave it at that, but since you're going to be spending a lot of time gathering materials in this vampire-themed crafting game - and there aren't many rare resources in the starting area - you'd be better off picking a better location to ensure you're not too far from your base when daylight interrupts your feasting and foraging.

The best V Rising base locations are near to valuable materials, so keep an eye out for bandit camps so you can command your V Rising servants to raid them for loot. Keep in mind that if you're playing on a V Rising server with other people, picking the best V Rising base locations is much trickier than in a private game. Everyone is trying to grab some sweet real estate, so constructing your castle requires a bit of extra thought.

To help you find the best V Rising base locations, we've found three areas where we recommend you move your castle. We also have some tips to ensure you secure the best plot of land if you're playing on a server with lots of other players.

RTX 4000 release order puts RTX 4090 at front of the pack

The RTX 4000 release date is drawing ever closer, and it's a pretty safe bet to say that the RTX 4090 may be the best graphics card you'll be able to buy this year. In a bout of good news for anyone hoping to pick up team green's most-powerful pixel pusher, it appears that you won't have to wait as long for it compared to previous GeForce launches.

According to leaker kopite7kimi, the RTX 4090 will be the first graphics card from the RTX 4000 series that you'll be able to slot into your gaming PC, with the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 following afterwards. If true, this would make it the first ever 90 class Nvidia GPU to launch ahead of its less-powerful counterparts.

Of course, nothing's set in stone until Nvidia officially reveals the RTX 4090, but we'll only have to wait until July to find out more if rumours hold weight. For now, make sure you've plenty of salt handy to season the slew of whispers that will no doubt build up leading to the GPU's release.

Warcraft 3: Reforged update news finally coming

It's been a long wait for Warcraft 3: Reforged update news, with the last developer update for the classic strategy game's remake coming in August 2020. After the disastrous Warcraft III: Reforged launch, the game was missing from the BlizzCon 2021 lineup, causing much speculation about its future. Now in a response to a fan on Twitter, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra says we can expect to hear from the Warcraft III: Reforged team "in June."

We did get a brief update on the status of Warcraft III: Reforged in March 2021 alongside a new PTR patch, but things have been fairly quiet since then. News of an update should be welcome, then, but fans have been left feeling so burned by the fantasy game's disappointing re-release and subsequent drought of communication that they're even sceptical of this announcement.

Community site Back2Warcraft responded to Ybarra's tweet with a simple question from their users: "June 2022?" The response on the Warcraft III subreddit has been similarly downbeat, with the most upvoted post joking that the update will simply read, "We are now removing Warcraft Reforged from the Battle.net app."

Genshin Impact events – all current and upcoming events

Want to know more about the upcoming Genshin Impact events? A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events.

There are usually a number of Genshin Impact events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies.

Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community.

Deaf community guild beats WoW Sepulcher of the First Ones

A World of Warcraft guild populated primarily with deaf and hard of hearing members has completed the 'Ahead of the Curve' achievement in the MMO game - meaning that this guild, Undaunted, has beaten The Jailer boss and completed the difficult WoW Sepulcher of the First Ones raid on Heroic difficulty.

The tough raid Sepulcher of the First Ones was added earlier this year and was originally so tricky that Blizzard had to release a patch to make it easier. The race to complete the raid on Mythic difficulty took a gruelling 18 days for some of the best World of Warcraft players around. Doing it on Heroic difficulty is still a challenge, but doing it without any voice communication?

Well, Undaunted guild managed just that (via Icy Veins). Undaunted is a guild "built by and for the Deaf and hard of hearing community", and they just finished off The Jailer and bested WoW's Sepulcher of the First Ones raid without any voice chat whatsoever - which took 120 attempts, apparently.

I feel a bit sorry for Crossfire: Legion, which appears to have suffered the worst launch imaginable for a fast-paced competitive RTS game. Since releasing last week, its all time peak of concurrent players is less than 400, and the average daily concurrents have slid down to around 100 people in only a few days. Worse, a fair chunk of this already dwindling community has been sorely narked off due to an apparent misunderstanding over how one of Legion's key features work.

Centennial Case Shijima Story Interview actors

In the first part of our The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story interview, we spoke to the game's director and producer about the game's story and mechanics. This second part focuses on the live-action portions of the game. Cinematographer and Scenario Director Yasuhito Tachibana, as well as the two main actors, Nanami Sakuraba (Haruka/Yoshino/Iyo) and Yuta Hiraoka (Eiji/Josui), spoke about working on The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story.

Annette Polis: Several of the actors and crew working on The Centennial Case are prolific in Japan's TV and film industry. What was it like creating a live-action video game as opposed to working on a television or film set?

Yasuhito Tachibana: It was exciting to see how I could apply the experience and skills I had gained in the live-action film industry in the field of games. With the TV and film industry it is not easy to be seen around the world, and I think we gathered a group of those who wanted to work on a more global scale through the game industry.

Yuta Hiraoka: Recently, there have been games released that are fully CG and have countless endings.

Almost no CG was used for this title, and there was a real sense that the emotional aspect of the work was enhanced by the realistic conversations between the actors. Shooting multiple choice footage was a bit daunting at first, but it was very refreshing.

Nanami Sakuraba: It was a wonderful and precious experience to be able to take on a live-action game which was a new challenge for me, with a wonderful cast and staff. My heart was filled with joy and excitement when the game was completed.

Centennial Case Shijima Story Interview Pt 2 Yoshino

The Centennial Case features actors playing multiple roles. What was the casting process like, and is there a particular character or time period that you really enjoyed bringing to life?

Tachibana: Casting proceeded with an emphasis on acting ability rather than recognition or celebrity status. I recall that we made our offers as we imagined whether the actors would feel like they belonged, especially in time periods that could go back 100 years.

It was fun to see how the actors were particular about the way they dressed, behaved, and acted in the Taisho Era 100 years ago and the Showa Era 50 years ago. Even with similar kimonos, there were different ways of wearing them 100 or 50 years ago, each of which was the standard at the time, and the actors enjoyed these differences. The way that the Showa Era hostess played by Yokoyama-san wore her kimono with her back exposed, is symbolic of such changing times.

Hiraoka: I enjoyed playing Josui. Unlike Eiji, who lives in the modern world, I could sense that he was a character who, in order to fulfill his purpose, would want to die as beautifully as cherry blossoms, and felt he had a samurai's soul.

Sakuraba: That would be Yoshino. In addition to making deductions to solve cases, it was fun to express Yoshino's feelings about her parent-child relationship, and I also enjoyed wearing beautiful kimonos while acting.

Centennial Case Shijima Story Interview actors acting

What kinds of challenges did the team face in shooting a live-action game during COVID-19?

Tachibana: The first step was to create an environment that would allow us to film with peace of mind and without confusion on site. Not only did we have to ensure thorough inspections, physical condition management, and on-site hygiene control, but wearing masks and face shields until right before the camera started rolling reduced the efficiency of the shoots. The burden on the staff and cast, including the mental stress, was very heavy. We also intentionally eliminated scenes that involved eating. On the other hand, morale was always high as we put our very existence on the line to create this title, and I believe this led to the high quality of this work.

Hiraoka: Covid was a very serious challenge. If even one person tested positive, the schedule would stop, the actors' schedules might no longer match up, and this work itself could have been lost. We had a great script and project and definitely wanted to avoid that, so we took every precaution to prevent any infections.

Sakuraba: As expected, many things were different compared to pre-Covid shoots. Because we had face shields as well as thorough disinfection and ventilation, we were able to complete the shoot without anyone getting infected during the filming period.

The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is available now for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
