You can now play Doom without even loading your PC

There are Doom ports to everything under the sun, from Game & Watch to Minecraft to a digital camera, so being able to run the classic FPS game on a regular PC isn't that impressive - but it is if you've barely turned it on. The latest Doom port allows you to run it directly from a PC BIOS firmware, making Doom more important than Windows.

Doom is one of the most famous all-time classic old PC games and it's still perfectly playable today, but for some reason, the entire world is obsessed with bringing it to as many platforms as possible - from tiny PCs to a SEGA Genesis to a restaurant. And now, it's playable as part of a system BIOS.

Coreboot is an open-source BIOS system firmware, and update 4.17 is out today (via Toms Hardware). It supports a load of new motherboards, a new bootloader, and, yes, Doom. Users can create 'payloads' to add ROM code to Coreboot, including some basic games that load up in the linear frame-buffer - and now, someone's made Doom for it.

engage kill

Project Engage announced a pre-registration date for Engage Kill, as well as shown off the ending sequence for Engage Kiss. Both the game and the anime are part of the A-1 Pictures and Square Enix collaborative intellectual property, Project Engage. Character Designer Tsunako also released an image of Chloe and Kisara. They are the protagonists of the game and anime, respectively. [Thanks, 4Gamer and Comic Natalie!]

Engage Kill and Engage Kiss will follow the same worldview, albeit from different perspectives. Pre-registration will open in Summer 2022 for Engage Kill. This means that the anime will start airing first. Engage Kiss has an air date of July 2, 2022. This will allow future or prospective players to get an idea of what the overall story is like.

As for Engage Kiss, Aniplex uploaded a trailer that features the ending song. Akari Nanawo will sing the song, which has the title "Ren'ai Nou," which can be translated loosely to "Love in my Brain." The writer for Project Engage is Maruto Fumiaki (Saenai Kanojo no Sodate Kata), and the artist is Tsunako (Date A Live). The story will be a combination of slapstick romance, action, and sci-fi. It will feature a love triangle and take place on an artificial island.

Engage Kill pre-registration will start in Summer 2022, and Engage Kiss will start airing in Japan from July 2, 2022. Engage Kill will be available on mobile devices.

Hunter x Hunter is a manga and anime series in Weekly Shonen Jump. Serialization started in 1998, though hiatus periods have stalled the story's progress. Togashi took to Twitter in late May 2022 to announce that he is working on new chapters. When these chapters come out, they will be the first updates to the story since November 2018.

The Hunter x Hunter items from Avail will be available in Japan from June 11, 2022. Hunter x Hunter (2011) is available on streaming services such as Netflix and Crunchyroll.
