Cyberpunk 2077 mod enhances GPU visuals using AMD FSR 2.0

Cyberpunk 2077 works with AMD FSR 2.0, thanks to the efforts of modders and the software's open-source nature. While the 3rd party upscaling solution isn't optimised for the dystopian shooter, it should help gaming PCs achieve better image quality at a slight cost to performance.

Tested by Techpowerup, the Cyberpunk 2077 mod uses existing Nvidia DLSS files to enable AMD FSR 2.0 support, as it piggybacks off of its competitor's algorithm. The publication notes that all DLSS-compatible releases should, in theory, support the FSR mod, but some games will require manual tweaking.

Using FSR 2.0 does come with performance caveats, but the software still enables players to boost fps and enhance image quality. Techpowerup notes marginal frame rate drops compared to FSR 1.0, something that results in noticeably sharper visuals. Unfortunately, the mod also includes some quirks, as driving a car produces a ghosting effect.

Halo Infinite desync is still broken as devs are

If you've tried to hit anyone in a Halo game recently, you'll notice the long-running Halo Infinite desync problem - which particularly affects melee combat - is still an issue in the multiplayer game. According to 343 Industries, the reason this hasn't been fixed is that the team is "allocated to other Infinite work."

Halo Infinite Season 2 kicked off in May, and there are a lot of great additions coming to Microsoft's premier FPS game soon - such as Forge mode and campaign co-op. However, one problem that's been affecting the multiplayer side since pretty much launch is a network desync issue that messes up hit registration - particularly with melee attacks, which are the best part of Halo.

Given the range of problems Season 2 launched with, it's a little surprising that this well-documented issue still isn't fixed. In a new comment on Reddit, Halo Infinite developer 343_Taxi explains that the "lack of UCN (networking) improvement" is because "the devs that would work on these fixes have been allocated to other Infinite work."

Intel Raptor Lake i9 CPU sneaks onto gaming PC black market

Next-gen Intel Raptor Lake CPUs are expected to arrive later this year, but an engineering sample has already popped up on the black market. While the 13th gen pre-release chip should be heading back to team blue HQ, it was sitting pretty on a Chinese auction site, complete with a surprising price tag.

Spotted by Videocardz, the Intel Raptor Lake CPU in question is a Core i9-13900K. Packing eight performance cores, 16 efficiency cores, and 32 threads, the seller says the next-gen chip is fully functional. It's allegedly playing nice with an Asus Z690 ROG APEX motherboard and it even supports overclocking.

As you'd perhaps expect, the seller has blanked out specific details relating to Intel's next-gen gaming CPU, including its Spec and QR codes. As a result, it's hard to tell whether this is a legit 13th gen i9. Nevertheless, a keen buyer has already snapped it up, and they seemingly only paid 2850 RMB for the chip (around $426 USD).

The best Valorant crosshairs and codes

So you want to know about Valorant crosshair codes? Many multiplayer games like to come up with ways for players to show allegiance to their favourite team. For example, Rainbow Six Siege has charms; Valorant, on the other hand, has crosshairs.

With a rather complicated-looking string of numbers, letters, and symbols, you can change your in-game sights to match players from your favourite esports teams such as DRX, Fnatic, or The Guard. This feature is relatively recent, with the official Valorant Twitter account posting about it with some initial Valorant crosshair codes in March 2022 - more codes have been shared across other platforms since.

We've collected codes for all of the big teams all in one place, so you don't have to go hunting around too much in order to equip your favourite Valorant characters with your chosen sight.

The best Warhammer 40,000 games on PC

So, you want to know about the best Warhammer 40K games in 2022? While Games Workshop's licensing history has been a bit sporadic, the grim darkness of the far future is one place the company has consistently experimented with in terms of digital adaptations.

Some of the best Warhammer 40K games are from decades ago, but after a brief wobbly spell in the middle, we're finally getting some decent digital grimdark adaptations of the physical tabletop game, but we're also being treated to space games and even action-adventure RPG games as well. We're not here to highlight our ancient battle-brothers of 40k games of yore - they've had their time in the sun. We want to highlight the best Warhammer 40k games that have been released in more recent times.

Every month I throw half a dozen broken shovels at the sleeping forms lying around the RPS treehouse floor. I demand they dig a new hole for the monthly RPS Time Capsule of games we'd like to save from a certain year, and usually it isn't a problem. This time, however, the staff complained a lot about the year choice: it's 2005, baby, and they struggled. I'm okay with it though, because we ended up with a lot of cool abandonware and interesting choices I couldn't have predicted. Especially because, since I got to the Time Capsule first, I got to stuff in the most obvious choice.

Also in Steam Deck news, Valve's Lawrence Yang – a designer who worked on the on the handheld PC – has weighed in on a widely shared mod that replaces the pre-installed SSD with a larger, faster model. His advice: don't do it.

The mod, by Twitter user Belly Jelly, swaps out the dinky default M.2 2230 SSD for a slightly longer M.2 2242 drive. It seems to mostly work fine except for making "the heat spreader bow a bit." It was subsequently shared by PC Gamer, GameSpot and others before Yang tweeted a warning that such a change would "significantly shorten the life of your Deck" by moving thermal pads vital to cooling the charger IC (integrated circuit).

anileap

King Amusement Creative will live-stream anime songs 24/7 every day of the year as part of its Anileap project. A beta stream is now available to listen to on the company's YouTube channel. The streams will cover keystone songs from anime history, as well as new ones from the Reiwa era. Only songs from anime King Amusement Creative was involved in will be played on Anileap. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Similar to other YouTube streams in which the channel plays a single genre of music for hours on end, Anileap will play the music while the background is on repeat. In the case of Anileap, you will watch a blue-haired girl floating in a bedroom that appears to double as a spaceship. She and her strange pet are both reading books. The art style is reminiscent of more retro (1970 - 1990) anime.

As this is a beta version of Anileap, it may end without warning. Additionally, the point of the beta stream is to test out the server, animation, and such. Because it is not the official release yet, there may be some issues that pop up in regards to the features. You will not be able to go back in the stream and listen to songs that were played earlier. As of the time of writing, songs from Shouta Aoi, Yui Horie, and Nana Mizuki have appeared.

Anileap's beta stream is available to watch on YouTube, and the official version will appear sometime in the near future.
