Yelan and Kuki Shinobu are the most recent new Genshin Impact characters to arrive in the Genshin Impact 2.7 update, and we know that Heizou is arriving in the next update. There are also leaks and datamined information concerning new faces that may appear in future Genshin Impact updates. Occasionally, banners don't stick to this schedule - most notably, update 1.3 had three two-week banners, so that Hu Tao's banner didn't cross over with the Chinese New Year. Typically, each limited character banner - or Event Wish - contains a five-star character, and three four-star characters. There's also a Weapon banner - Epitome Invocation - which runs alongside each character banner, and features different weapons each time. YouTuber Yunatahel, who does a lot of World of Warcraft videos, also happens to be recreating Stormwind from the MMO game in Minecraft. Stormwind, also known as Stormwing City, is the capital city of the area known as Stormwind and the largest human city in Azeroth. It's named so because of sudden squalls of wind that occur due to a leyline pattern around the city. While this Minecraft build is still in the works, the video shows off a stunning level of detail and craftsmanship - not to mention adoration for the source material. Each building is adorned with a beautiful tiled roof, the cobbled walkways look almost real, and the lighting effects add a sense of life to the area as well. Zen 4 should eventually supersede the company's current-gen offering, but rumours point toward new Zen 3D chips that cater to budget gaming PC builds. According to reliable hardware leaker Greymon55, "several new" AMD Zen 3 processors are on the cards, and we'll apparently hear more about the lineup next month. So far, AMD has only released one 8-core Zen3D SKU, but we'll potentially see team red expand its AM4 portfolio with cheap and cheerful gaming CPUs that pack a punch. Speaking of AM4, there's seemingly also still life left in AMD's current-gen platform, as Greymon55 claims we'll see "low-end AMD products" in the future. At Anime Expo 2022, Trigger Inc. showed off the opening animation for its upcoming show Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. It is available on the Netflix YouTube account. This is not a creditless video, which means that you will see all of the staff who worked on the show in the opening. Studio Trigger first announced it in June 2022, along with a trailer of what to expect from it. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be a standalone story, and you will not need to have played Cyberpunk 2077 to understand it. The opening features protagonist David, with the backdrop consisting of the psychedelic colors that often appear in Imaishi's works. The story of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follows David, who is a Streetkid-turned-mercenary, in Night City. In a world that focuses on technology and body modification, he tries to stay alive amidst the various politics. Along with him is Lucy, who also has her own set of physical augmentations. For example, she has wires in her arms that she can use as weapons. During the same panel, Trigger Inc. announced that a new Panty & Stocking anime. It also showed off a short sequence and art. It is in development, and there is no information on if it will be a sequel or a remake of the original. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is in development and will air on Netflix. Nintendo showed a quick peek at another Splatoon 3 map called Mincemeat Metalworks. This overview shows the space from different angles. Folks can see some of the surfaces that can be inked during a Turf War, as well as certain places that can be used to give an advantage by reaching certain heights. This is the second Splatoon 3 map Nintendo showed off. The first is Undertow Spillway. It is an abandoned area near a dam with water hazards and other features to make Turf Wars challenging. It's also possible to get a refresher on some Splatoon 3 weapons. Nintendo's been going over a few of the returning ones. So far, it looked at some blasters, chargers, rollers, sloshers, and splatlings. Splatoon 3 will debut on the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. Sometimes, a game is great at hiding its true nature. Ground Divers is a fantastic example. It looks cheerful and bright. I mean, you're outright using CHEER Crystals to power your mining frame robot. Said robot is adorable, as are many of the creatures lurking beneath the earth. It seems like this is a happy, friendly world! But it isn't! None of those subterranean abominations are your friends! Everything is trying to kill you! Even trying to dig deeper means death! But I mean, at least it's an entertaining way to go. The world is in big trouble. People abused and used up natural resources. Which means folks are scrounging for power now. This has lead to to the titular Ground Divers. They're groups of individuals that use mining frames, essentially mech suits, to dig below the ground for new energy sources. Players are the latest member of Studio Tsuruhashi, a group that uses a new mining frame called Tsuruhashi to take on assignments and search for precious commodities. (Tsuruhashi itself being named after a person who found revolutionary Rare Matter that helped solve an energy crisis before.) Your goal is to go through different missions to acquire materials, energy, and knowledge.
When I first started Ground Divers, I expected something lighthearted. Something that would offer some challenge, but be more of a puzzle. The initial round of tutorials almost annoyed me. Before you take Tsuruhashi on a first mission, Anne walks you through every action you can take. You don't directly control the mining frame. Rather, you place pins. These dictate actions. Tsuruhashi can dig toward one pin, create a "Pit" camp with another, and perform a special move with the third, should you dictate it. All of these rely on AP earned from resting or digging through certain kinds of blocks. While you also can choose to use items and what to do when at a Pit, Tsuruhashi largely takes on most actions by itself. It even has an "autopilot" dig mode if you haven't assigned any locations. After exploring the Secret Bamboo Springs, I was glad the Land of Beginnings tutorials were as detailed as they were. There's a lot of nuance to the game! Even on the normal difficulty! That early introduction reinforces how important energy and timing can be. Enemies get agitated the longer you hang around a layer. Which, in turn, makes them more aggressive. Cheering makes Tsuruhashi stronger, but too much makes the character overheat. In the first two parts of Secret Bamboo Springs, AP isn't a problem! It's easy to dig through to the next layer and find the certain "goals" along the way for more AP. Except once you dig deeper, you'll find more environmental hazards and fewer high AP "scores." Not to mention investing in Pit upgrades to strengthen Tsuruhashi and unlock support units, healing options, and other abilities ends up feeling necessary. Factor in the nuance that comes when setting pins, and it can get shockingly intimidating!
Which really brings up how much of a roguelike Ground Divers is and how well it works. The resources you bring back with you on a successful run allow you to create equipment. These can be equipped to give players an edge on their next run. You also might accumulate items, which can let you assist Tsuruhashi with dealing damage or healing. (If you don't have those, the mining frame will automatically attack and you have to hope you "cheered" enough to ensure survival.) The idea of crafting equipment, as well as getting new customization options for Tsuruhashi and the room, add a bit of replay value. So does the layout of each stage being different each time you return to it. Though honestly, much of Ground DIvers' ambiance also encourages replays. As I mentioned before, this is a bright and colorful game. It has personality! When you hop in, a Hironobu Kageyama theme song hits you. (You probably recognize him best as the person behind the Dragon Ball Z "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" theme song.) Shigeto Koyama, who created designs for Big Hero 6, Darling in the Franxx, Rebuild of Evangelion, and SSSS.Gridman, designed the game's mecha. Zombie Land Saga Anthology's Kakeru Kakemaru worked on the character designs. A lot of effort went into making sure the game looks and sounds good! Though, I do wish some of that also went into the characters' personalities. Even a character like Anne, who gets tons of screen time, feels like a one-note character. Dorothy suffers the most from this, as her whole personality is lusting after Anne.
Generally, it is easy to dig into Ground Divers. Yes, it gets very difficult very quickly. Sweltering Sand Wasteland is a wake-up call after Secret Bamboo Springs. However, the game is manageable if you pay attention and wisely direct Tsuruhashi. There's a charm to it. Not to mention the different difficulty levels and additional challenges for each region offer a reason to go back and get the three stars to fully "complete" them. Also, stages five through eight will unlock between July 5-6, 2022. Playing earns people Blob Coins. These can be used at the Blob Store for different in-game rewards. Among the items someone can earn are Primogems, Hero's Wits, Mora, and Mystic Enhancement Ores. Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. Witch on the Holy Night, the English localization of Mahoutsukai no Yoru, is getting a worldwide release in 2022. To help prepare people for what to expect, Aniplex and Type-Moon released a new trailer at Anime Expo 2022. This shows gameplay segments that introduce the characters and the localization for the game. Here is the Witch on the Holy Night English trailer. It begins by introducing the two leads, Soujyuro Shizuki and Aoko Aozaki. Aoko is learning magic from Alice Kuonji, and after certain circumstances Soujyuro ends up coming to live in a mansion with Alice and Aoko. In addition to the game, a new movie based on it is in development. Ufotable is handling it. Witch on the Holy Night will appear in English on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Winter 2022. The Japanese release of Mahoutsukai no Yoru will appear on both platforms on December 8, 2022 and include English, Japanese, and Chinese subtitles. Square Enix's latest FFVII Remake concept art shows off Avalanche member Wedge. While it doesn't show off his pet cats, it does look at him in a more professional sense. The design documents show off his outfit and two of the different kinds of weapons he uses in the game. First, here's Wedge's general design. People can see his armor, the extra ammunition he carries, and the outfit and bandana he wears. Next are some of the weapons Wedge uses in the game. Unlike in the original FFVII, he sees quite a bit of combat in the remake. For example, he'll be running around at one part when Cloud and Avalanche infiltrate Shinra warehouses. First, here's a closer look at his grenade launcher. His mines are shown off too. People can see it when active and not. His googles also appear in that art. This isn't the first time Wedge details came up in FFVII Remake concept art. Back in November 2021, Square Enix showed off Biggs and Wedge's rooms in Midgar. Not to mention Biggs concept art appeared back in June 2022. Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PlayStation 4, while FFVII Remake Intergrade is out on the PlayStation 5 and PC. HoYoVerse and Pizza Hut will hold a Genshin Impact event in China with in-game rewards and real-life food items. There is also promotional art featuring Eula and Amber. The two of them are holding pizzas that may serve as a limited menu item. More information will appear closer to August 2022, which is when the event will start. [Thanks, Reddit!] In the art, Eula looks like she is the cook behind the operations, while Amber is the delivery girl. She is even holding a helmet that looks like it has rabbit ears on it. The official Chinese Pizza Hut site does not have information or a page yet for the Genshin Impact event. This does mean that there are no details regarding what in-game rewards Chinese players will be able to access either. In March 2021, HoYoVerse had a collaboration with KFC, with Diluc and Noelle serving as the spokespeople. In real life, you could get buckets of chicken with Diluc on it. Meanwhile, in-game, you could get KFC-colored wings and there was an Outland Gastronomy event. Though only Chinese players could obtain the wings in the beginning, Western players were able to access them through Twitch subs in November 2021.
