All advertising is evil, obviously. But sometimes, despite this, it can be extraordinarily entertaining. This latest 3D billboard from outside of Tokyo's Shinjuku Station is maybe the best use of this optical illusion tech I've seen, and it's cross-promoting Pokémon GO and, er, World Cat Day.

Multiversus tier list August 2022: best characters ranked

Are you looking for a Multiversus tier list? The Warner Bros fighting game is still in open beta with its release date delayed for the foreseeable future, with many players gaining access to its colourful cast of characters for the first time. Soon, we will know who the most powerful characters are, from DC Superheroes such as Batman and Wonder Woman to Cartoon Network favourites like Finn the Human and Steven Universe. We even have throwback characters from Warner Bros' back catalogue of shows acquired over the years, including Shaggy and Velma from Scooby Doo.

With such an illustrious gathering of fighters, a Multiversus tier list was inevitable. Judging by other competitive multiplayer games, ranking these fighters goes beyond looking at their individual abilities. Multiversus focuses on team-based combat, with each fighter broken down into roles such as Bruiser and Tank. In order to create the definitive Multiversus tier list, we looked at how well each fighter interacts with their partner and how good they are on their own.

Dead by Daylight killer Pyramid Head critiqued by Silent Hill designer

The Dead by Daylight killer Pyramid Head has been discussed and debated by the Silent Hill designer behind the original character, who suggests that a changed version of the monster should feature as a DBD killer in Behaviour Interactive's asymmetrical multiplayer horror game.

Masahiro Ito, the art director for Silent Hill 2, and a monster designer for the first trilogy of Silent Hill games, suggests that an alternative version of Pyramid Head could be used as a Dead by Daylight killer, owing to the fact that the original design of the monster was created specifically to relate to Silent Hill 2's protagonist, James Sunderland. In Silent Hill 2 – one of the best horror games – Pyramid Head is a dark reflection of James' psyche, reflecting his anger and bitterness towards his wife.

     Overwatch 2 system requirements

Need to check your PC against the Overwatch 2 system requirements? We've got you covered. Although you won't be able to get away with integrated graphics like the first game, you probably won't need to upgrade your CPU in order to play Blizzard's long-awaited hero shooter sequel - unless you want to pump out the frames, that is.

The Overwatch 2 system requirements are generally more demanding than its predecessor. It's got a larger storage footprint, demanding 50GB of space on your gaming SSD rather than 30GB, as well as increasing the amount of gaming RAM you'll need to meet the minimum or recommended specs. Now, the previously recommended graphics card requirements are the minimum, and Blizzard suggests you use an Intel Core i7 rather than the cheaper Core i5.

That said, the Overwatch 2 system requirements make for a modest barrier to entry. It carries the same minimum processor requirements as the original and doesn't ask for more than 8GB of RAM in a world that now gravitates towards 16GB. You also won't need a graphics card that's capable of ray tracing in order to get in on the action, nor need to install the game on an SSD, although it'll likely perform better with one.

You might remember that I couldn't beat Spelunky 2's first stage, no matter how hard I tried. Well, I'm proud to announce that my fortunes have since changed and that I've bested it. I should say "we", as my achievement was aided by a co-op pal, and the only person on Earth patient enough to accompany such a terrible Spelunker. Aside from my – our – achievements, I learned that the game is a perfect measurement of fatigue. Is it lazy to describe Turbo Golf Racing as 'Rocket League if the cars were playing golf instead of football?' A bit, yes. But it's also largely accurate. Up to eight players race across a track, ramming their boost-enabled car into their huge futuristic golf ball to send it flying forwards until (depending on your skill or luck) it flies/rolls/plops anticlimactically into the big hole at the end. It's golf, sort of, but fast, demanding, and often unpredictable. You don't even have to wear silly trousers while playing it, but that's just my personal choice.

Of course, it's not quite so simple as hitting your ball forward and relying on the videogame gods to deem your ball worthy of reaching the goal before everybody else's. There are 30 courses of varying length and complexity, and none of them are a simple drag race to the end. There are ramps, twists, turns, and plenty of obstacles. While the very shortest courses are pretty frictionless (I've won a few in under 20 seconds), the longest ones are practically begging you to make agonising mistakes.

Guilty Gear Strive 1 million units sales milestone

Arc System Works announced that it had sold over 1 million units of Guilty Gear Strive in physical shipments and digital sales worldwide. Its press release added more significance, as Strive also became the company's first-ever title to reach the million sales milestone.

The Guilty Gear team's 2D artist Kenta Asano drew a celebratory illustration to mark Strive's 1 million sales milestone. It features Bridget, which will appear as the first Season Pass 2 character. Announced during the Evo 2022 tournament, the most-requested series character in Japan will return simultaneously worldwide on August 8, 2022 (August 9, 2022, in Japan).

At the same time, the company also published a new trailer to mark the fighting game's first anniversary. It features a music video of Sol Badguy's theme song in Strive, "Find Your One Way." The Japanese animation studio Sanzigen produced this video.

[tnm_video layout="mnmd-post-media"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp4-n_u-q[/tnm_video]

Arc System Works sold over 300,000 units of Guilty Gear Strive during its launch week in June 2021. It raised the number to 500,000 units in mid-July 2021, roughly a month after release. That means it took roughly another year for the fighting game to reach the million sales milestone.

Guilty Gear Strive is available worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, and arcades. A new wave of content additions through Season Pass 2 will begin with Bridget's inclusion on August 8, 2022.

dragon ball fighterz rollback netcode

During EVO 2022, Dragon Ball FighterZ producer Tomoko Hiroki announced that the game will have rollback netcode. This will only be for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC versions of the game. During the same announcement, Hiroki said that the game will no longer receive updates in the forms of new characters or balance updates. [Thanks, HD_Kirin!]

Here is a clip of Hiroki announcing rollback netcode during EVO 2022. You can hear the cheers of the audience as soon as she says the words, even before the translator can translate for her:

https://twitter.com/HD_Kirin/status/1556206791318376448

As a reminder, rollback netcode is a function that helps to smooth out online multiplayer experience. Rather than waiting for your opponent to input their commands, it predicts the movement and self-corrects if the prediction is wrong. This means that your gameplay experience should feel smooth regardless of ping. Other games that introduced rollback netcode include Street Fighter 6, BlazBlue Centralfiction, and King of Fighters 2022 Unlimited Match

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a 2.5D fighting game from Arc System Works and Bandai Namco Entertainment. It first appeared in 2018, and pits players in 3v3 battles. The game has generally positive reviews, and shipped over two million copies during its first week. In November 2021, Bandai Namco announced that it had sold over 8 million copies worldwide.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. The rollback netcode update will only be for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC versions of the game. SNK also announced rollback implementation for the 2019 reboot of Samurai Shodown at this year's EVO.

Tekken 8 Evo 2022

Bandai Namco made an appearance at the Evo 2022 competitive event this year, making a handful of important announcements. In addition to a few updates and adjustments for Tekken 7, the company may have also teased an upcoming Tekken 8 at Evo 2022. While yet unconfirmed, the official Tekken account has acknowledged the teaser and urged fans to "watch until the end".

The teaser appeared just after a series of updates for Tekken 7 and the announcement of the global finals dates. The update for Tekken 7 will release on August 17, 2022. The free update will reportedly include balance adjustments and new tactics. Furthermore, the Tekken World Tour 2022 Global Finals will be making its return in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on February 4 and 5, 2023.

At the end of the video, after a Tekken 7 title card, the ending scene of the original Tekken appears. After defeating his father in battle, Kazuya throws Heihachi off of a cliff and then smiles. Notably, this also mirrors the ending of Tekken 7. Suddenly, the video changes from the original polygonal graphics to a modern, high-definition version of Kazuya. Kazuya's left eye glows red as he smiles into the camera, with the words "Get Ready" appearing beside him.

You can check out the possible Tekken 8 Evo 2022 teaser in the video below (Starts at 1:38):

https://youtu.be/OocpMVBLxlk

The Tekken series has been active since 1994. Its latest release, Tekken 7, recently surpassed over 9 million units sold worldwide after its initial release in 2015.

Tekken 7 is available to play in arcades, as well as on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Fatal Fury Garou

The legendary fighting game series is coming back. SNK announced at EVO 2022 that it "green-lit" a new Fatal Fury / Garou project for development. This would be the first such project in the works since 1999's Garou: Mark of the Wolves (a.k.a. Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves).

Check out SNK's new Fatal Fury teaser trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YP3wVygHLg

All in all, the teaser reveals very little about the project. Its naming to Fatal Fury/Garou and the use of Rock Howard in the teaser art implies that it's a follow-up to Mark of the Wolves, at least. In Garou, Rock Howard, son of longtime villain Geese Howard, is a student of series hero Terry Bogard, as well. SNK's announcement also trumpets the project as "the long awaited sequel". Besides the art, the teaser trailer displayed cryptic hints as to the nature of the story. Lines like "The City of Legend Still Breathes," "Hungry Wolves Back on the Prowl," and "A New Destiny Hidden in the Darkness" promise new plotlines spinning off from the narrative of 20 years ago.

Though a Fatal Fury game hasn't made an appearance in over two decades, its characters have kept busy in other games. They've often shown up in the rosters of various King of Fighters titles. Terry Bogard himself even joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2019 as a DLC fighter.

SNK is developing a new Fatal Fury/Garou title, though its platforms and release window are unspecified. King of Fighters XV is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Guilty Gear Bridget

Bridget returns! Arc System Works had a surprise announcement for Guilty Gear fans at EVO 2022, and it involved the return of a beloved character. Bridget joins the Guilty Gear Strive roster on August 8, 2022, not even a day after the announcement itself. This is the first time Bridget is playable since 2003's Guilty Gear Isuka.

Check out ArcSys' Bridget Guilty Gear Strive announcement trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWOUBwWMakg

Bridget is seen in a new outfit. Rather than the stylized nun outfit worn in previous incarnations, Bridget's new clothing blends everyday wear with nun-like outlines and patterns. Bridget wears a jacket with a hood that resembling a nun's habit, with a sweater, short skirt, and athletic shorts underneath. Bridget's handcuff belt and yo-yo are still used as accessories, with the yo-yo functioning as a single-foot skate, as well.

Bridget was first introduced to the Guilty Gear roster in Guilty Gear XX. Born male in a village where having twin sons was considered a bad omen, Bridget was raised as a girl to avoid persecution. In previous games, Bridget conformed to the archetype of a cross-dressing male character, and was referred to with masculine pronouns. However, Bridget's character biography on the official Guilty Gear Strive page appears to be written to avoid using pronouns at all. At this time, Arc System Works has not confirmed if it intends to change Bridget's characterization. When Testament joined the roster in March, they confirmed that Testament is agender, and uses "they/them" pronouns rather than the masculine ones from previous games.

Bridget joins Guilty Gear Strive on August 8, 2022. Three more characters will join the roster in 2022 and 2023 as part of Season Pass 2. The game is playable on PC, PS4, and PS5.

New Tekken Game TrailerThroughout the second half of the 2010s, Tekken 7 was all the rage, no pun intended. After Tekken Tag Tournament 2 underperformed and seemingly put the series on life support, Tekken 7 managed to revive player interest in the franchise and foster a large competitive scene. Having said that, the game had a lot of missed potential and areas for improvement, what with its mostly unimpressive visuals, its bizarrely-executed story mode, and an overall lack of single-player content. The time has come for a fresh new Tekken installment to arrive and potentially address some of these issues. Thankfully, judging by the new Tekken teaser trailer that Bandai Namco revealed at EVO 2022, it looks like we will soon get one. Before this teaser, Bandai Namco revealed that Tekken 7 would receive yet another free update on August 17. The update trailer it showed mainly advertised more balance changes as well as "new tactics," which presumably means more moves or mechanics for each c...

Hard West 2 ReviewHard West 2 is a follow-up from Ice Code Games and Good Shepherd Entertainment, and promises challenging turn-based bouts as you make your way through a grim frontier. Granted, I didn't know what to expect since I didn't play the original game, but parts of this sequel did intrigue me. In a way, Hard West 2 carves out its own path in a genre where certain concepts have become the norm. Still, there were moments that became too tedious as time wore on, primarily driven by the core mechanics.   Ghost trains and bargains with the devil Hard West 2 starts when a posse of outlaws led by Gin Carter attempts to rob a train. Rumor has it that the train is haunted and, soon enough, they meet someone known as Mammon (who, apparently, could be the devil himself). A firefight ensues, causing the train to derail. Some members of the gang emerge from the wreckage, regrouping to meet new friends and foes. The narrative develops with familiar tropes from the Weird West fiction genre (...
