In Metal Gear Solid 5, the iconic stealth sandbox game from Hideo Kojima, Stefanie Joosten plays Quiet, a mute sniper who accompanies Venom Snake on his missions across Afghanistan to destroy the giant, hulking Sahelanthropus. In Wanted: Dead however, the new sci-fi hack-and-slash, set to launch on Steam later in 2022, her character is much different – serving also as the game's cutscene director, she tells PCGamesN, live at Gamescom 2022, that she wanted to play a character who represents the "polar opposite" of Quiet.

In the latest alpha build, their wait is finally over, as the Demon Hunter class tree and the Havoc specialisation tree are set to be implemented. Let's go over the broad strokes.

Space city builder Ixion plans photo mode and endless mode

Narrative-driven space city building game Ixion sets you floating across the stars in search of a new home for humanity. Travelling aboard the giant Tiqqun space station, you must manage your resources and supplies as you probe planets to determine their viability, mine resources from nearby systems, and attempt to keep your crew happy through power and food shortages. At Gamescom, producer Christian Woolford spoke to PCGamesN about some of the post-release features the team hopes to bring to Ixion.

"Photo mode is definitely something we want," says Woolford, "it will definitely be a post-release update, not a DLC, but we want to make sure that there are filters and camera angles and the rest of it. So that's absolutely on the slate." With just how stunning space looks in Ixion, as well as the detailed architecture both inside and outside your space station, players will certainly welcome the opportunity to grab artsy snaps of their creations.

Also in the works, Woolford adds, is an endless mode. The main campaign of Ixion is very narratively driven, and sees the player taking charge of a colony ship searching for a new home for humanity after the accidental destruction of the moon (oops) caused widespread devastation and climate impact across Earth. With the planet left barren and devoid of life, the Tiqqun ship is soaring across the solar system and beyond hoping to find viable planets that can support human life.

Best LMG Warzone: the best LMGs in Season 5

Looking for the best LMG in Warzone? Warzone LMGs are all too often overlooked when it comes to the best Warzone loadouts. It's not hard to see why, either. In general, they take just as long to down enemies as one of the best assault rifles in Warzone, and they have similar rates of fire and ranged effectiveness, too. However, unlike the game's most popular weapons, LMGs are very heavy and come with some of the worst aim down sight speeds, mobility, and 'gun ready' times in the game.

Those stats can make clearing out buildings, re-armouring, and switching weapons very difficult, and we've died countless times simply because we were stuck in the 'gun ready' animation. Thankfully, some of these issues can be fixed with the right attachments, making the best Warzone LMGs surprisingly competitive in the right scenario. The LMGs didn't receive any significant balance changes in the Warzone Season 5 update - this could suggest the devs are happy with the place the LMGs are currently at.

Best sniper Warzone: the best sniper rifle in Season 5

Want to know what the best sniper rifle is in Warzone? There are plenty of options to pick from in the battle royale game, but there's nothing quite as satisfying as a sniper rifle. While this weapon type used to be a sure-fire pick for players back when Verdansk was around, that hasn't been the case since new Warzone map was introduced. That's not to say sniping is dead, far from it, but you do have to think carefully about your surroundings before calling in the best Warzone loadouts.

There are a lot of factors to consider, including which attachments you choose to equip your chosen Warzone sniper with, how confident you are at judging travel time, and what your peeking skills are like. We've analysed the lot to give you the definitive answer on which weapon is the best sniper rifle in Warzone. Just like the previous update, Warzone Season 5 is trying to improve the pick rate of sniper rifles by reducing their flinch resistance. Heavy sniper rifles received a flinch reduction of 11%, whereas light sniper rifles received a 40% reduction.

GTA podium car: here's what vehicle you can win in GTA Online

What is the GTA podium car this week? GTA Online vehicles are expensive things, so we're happy to take a spin on the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel to get a discount. Winning isn't guaranteed, sure, but it isn't out of the question either. Look, we don't have a problem - leave it alone.

Finding out what the GTA Online podium car is simple enough - it's winning it that's the challenge. You can spin the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel once a day, and each Podium Car refreshes after seven days on a Thursday. Basically, you have seven shots to get the vehicle of that given week. If you own a Penthouse, you can spin it for free, but if you don't it's $500 a spin. Don't fret if you don't win, as you can try for something else.

You have a one in 20 chance of getting the podium vehicle, a car discount, or a mystery prize. There's a four in 20 chance of getting clothes, chips, and cash. Finally, there's a five in 20 chance of getting RP. On that note, here's everything you need to know about this week's GTA podium car.

Steam mobile app beta lets you test Valve's new look store

A new Steam mobile app beta is underway, with Valve aiming to modernise its storefront for mobile devices, and you can join now to test the new-look app for yourself. The limited beta program is live as of August 24, giving users access to a version of the app that has been rebuilt on a new framework with a modern design, with Valve hoping to collect feedback ahead of the full release.

Along with the usual functionality of browsing the store, confirming item trades, and accessing Steam Guard codes, the new Steam mobile app includes the ability to sign in using a QR code, an improved library, support for multiple accounts, and smarter Steam notifications. Valve is urging fans to jump in and try the update for themselves, so it can get feedback from across a wide range of phones and other mobile devices.

A blog post on the Steam Community site (spotted by GamesRadar+) outlines the new update, encouraging any users who "already use the Steam mobile app and are willing to provide feedback on the update" to join. Because of Apple guidelines, there will be a limitation of 10,000 users on iOS devices, and people on iOS will also be required to install TestFlight before joining the beta, so you'll have to be quick if you're on an Apple device.

Genshin Impact tier list August 2022: the best characters in 3.0

Looking for a Genshin Impact tier list? There are currently 53 Genshin Impact characters available (not including Dori who arrives in the latter half of the Genshin Impact 3.0 update), so there's no shortage of candidates for your dream team. But with so many different weapons, elementals, talents, ascension bonuses, and constellations upgrades, finding your favourites can be challenging.

Don't let the placement of the characters on our Genshin Impact tier list deter you from pulling on the next character banner. While base stats and elemental abilities are important, the value of a character also depends on personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. That being said, if your favourite character is in C tier or below, you may struggle to get past some of the more challenging Spiral Abyss floors. Don't worry too much if your favourite character is on one of the lower tiers; you can still make it work with our recommended Genshin Impact builds.

In general, being on a high tier means that the character is the best Genshin Impact character in their role, is not too difficult to build, and performs well regardless of teammates. Being on a lower tier means that there are better alternatives, or the character needs a very specific build or team to shine. Just to note, the characters are not ranked within their own tier, and with that out of the way, let's take a look at our ranking of characters in our Genshin Impact tier list.

This week on The Electronic Wireless Show podcast we give thanks to listener Tom Fakelastname, who emailed in to ask us about the moral quandaries in video games that we feel are the most meaningful. Matthew isn't here this week, which means we are very well behaved. I talk about BioWare games a normal amount, and Nate tries (and, in fairness, succeeds) to find a way to make moral choices a thing that you can apply to the sort of games he likes. Not Age Of Empires II this time, though.

Because there's no Matthew, I change the Cavern Of Lies into a cavern of moral judgement for Nate, and make him run a gauntlet of some of the most important choices in Dragon Age Inquisition with no context. He turns out to be both authoritarian and kind of wholesome as an Inquisitor.

"The thing we're doing with The Dark Pictures is exploring different sub genres of horror," explains game director Tom Heaton. The Dark Pictures Anthology is, well, a horror anthology, each a compact standalone scary game where you explore and deal with QTEs and hazardous choices, in the vein of Supermassive's smash hit Until Dawn. The idea, says Heaton, is that each one takes one or two horror sub-genres and mines them, maybe subverting the tropes here and there. Up next is The Devil In Me, inspired by the infamous Chicago serial killer H. H. Holmes.

"What I think we decided with The Dark Pictures games early on was that the next game in the series would be very different from the last game, because we want to keep it fresh, we want to give the audience new," Heaton explains. So, after a zombie ghost ship in Man Of Medan, the psychological witch hauntings in Little Hope, and military squad vs. vampire aliens in House Of Ashes, Heaton pitches The Devil In Me as kind of Saw meets The Shining. It's a serial killer slasher in a weirdo hotel, and it has a true crime element. And I have to say, it's probably the most excited I've been for a Dark Pictures entry.

The bonus emotions? Surprise and... not being so surprised. Surprise that we'd accomplished such a feat, but not so much surprise in the game itself. It was, as expected, a good co-op FPS time! But a very familiar one.

If it actually reaches such speeds in the wild, once it launches in October, that would make it the fastest consumer PCIe 4.0 drive yet. And write speeds aren't far behind either, at up to 6900MB/s.

Pikachu Car

Gamescom may be known for video games rather than cars, but that didn't stop car company Mini. It showed up in Cologne, Germany with a vehicle linked to nothing less than Pokémon itself. Formally called the Mini x Pokémon Concept Aceman, the electric vehicle is inspired by the legendary game series. Specifically, it's a Pikachu car, because it's electric.

The Pikachu car is built on Mini's Concept Aceman, a concept car meant to spotlight new technologies and design ideas for the future. The Aceman is an all-electric vehicle that uses a "digital interior" with embedded electronics and lighting. The interior also minimizes the use of leather or chrome, instead employing more sustainable materials like recycled textiles. The exterior uses contoured LEDs for lighting, with geometrically modeled surfaces.

Check out a trailer for the Mini Pikachu car below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvaWJqA6jRk

The Mini x Pokémon Aceman showed up at Gamescom 2022 wrapped in "packaging". With Pikachu decals on the surface and a recalibrated UI interface that recalled the iconic Pokémon, the Pikachu car display stand looked like a branded toy crossover more than a drivable vehicle. The Concept Aceman also came with an additional feature: Exterior projection. Fans inside the car could hook up a computer, smart device, or game console to the car and use an exterior projector to display the on-screen image on a flat surface ahead of the car.

As it's a concept car, the Mini x Pokémon Aceman Pikachu car is not on sale. Future mainline designs may incorporate some of its ideas and technology, though. Meanwhile Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may let players use a less mechanical form of transport: A Cyclizar.

Final Fantasy XIV players might be busy with the various changes and new content introduced in the latest version 6.2 update, but there's more coming on Saturday. That's when Square Enix celebrates FFXIV The Rising 2022, the yearly anniversary of the game. More specifically, it's the yearly anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV's relaunch as A Realm Reborn. Prior to the relaunch, the anniversary celebration was called "Founding Day". In-game, The Rising is an event held to honor those lost in the Seventh Umbral Calamity that preceded the events of A Realm Reborn. This year The Rising 2022 begins on Saturday, August 27, 2022, and is accessible through Monday, September 12, 2022.

As for what to expect during the FFXIV event, The Rising 2022 is typically light on requirements. This year it asks for little more than a chat with The Wandering Minstrel in Ul'dah. During The Rising The Wandering Minstrel is used by producer Naoki Yoshida to deliver a message to The Warrior of Light amidst their adventures. Like previous years, players will need to be Level 15 and above to take on the quest. As such, absolute newbies will want to get a few quests under their belt before ambling over.

Last year, players received some potpourri and a Red Moon Umbrella accessory. Those who complete the quest this year will receive a Clockwork Solus minion. The minion is constructed in the likeness of the Garlean Empire's founding father, Solus zos Galvus.

Witness him below.

Clockwork Solus The Rising 2022

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PS4, and PS5. The Rising 2022 begins on August 27, 2022.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Title Update 2

Capcom announced that Title Update 2 for Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak will arrive in Late September 2022. The free title update will add the Flaming Espinas subspecies, another rare subspecies, and "powered-up monsters". Further information will appear some time closer to the title update's release.

The Flaming Espinas is a legacy monster that has appeared in past Monster Hunter titles. Capcom introduced the monster as the Espinas Subspecies in Monster Hunter Frontier. Compared to the standard Espinas, the Flaming Espinas has a stronger orange hue and focuses largely on fire-based attacks. In Frontier, the monster was capable of inflicting players with the Defense Down debuff instead of paralysis.

A new teaser trailer shows the Flaming Espinas facing off against a Teostra. You can check the trailer out in the video below:

https://youtu.be/oxd3Dv4LTQw

Furthermore, the second free title update will release sometime in Late September. Capcom has not yet given the full details of the update. As such, fans can expect to see more monsters revealed in the coming weeks. The third free title update is still listed with a Winter 2022 release date.

Capcom also released the first free title update earlier this month. It added various existing subspecies to the game, as well as the new Anomaly Investigations mechanic. The new subspecies included the return of the Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos, among others.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak is available to play on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch, and Title Update 2 will release in Late September 2022.

dualsense edge

PlayStation is teasing its new DualSense Edge wireless controller on the PlayStation Blog. Features for the controller include customizable controls, changeable stick caps, back buttons, and saveable user profiles. There is also a user interface right on the controller for you to adjust settings such as game volume or control profiles without having to back out of the game.

There is a short reveal trailer for the DualSense Edge wireless controller, but it mostly focuses on what the controller looks like. It does show off the back buttons and swappable stick caps, but there is no full demo on how the controller looks in action.

You can watch the DualSense Edge wireless controller reveal trailer here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzAS_g9OuWs

The level of customization for this controller extends to remapping or deactivating buttons, as well as toggling stick sensitivity. You can also set travel distance and dead zones, as well as set it to individual profiles to swap around. For example, you may want a shorter travel distance for the triggers in a fighting game. When you want to play something like a racing game, you can then change your profile to one that has a reduced dead zone.

There are three different kinds of stick caps: standard, high dome, and low dome. As well, there are two types of back buttons: half-dome and lever. You can configure certain keys or commands to these back buttons as well. It also has the normal features as a normal wireless DualSense.

The DualSense Edge wireless controller will be available for the PlayStation 5 in the near future.

Furious Rajang Event Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak

Capcom has added a new event quest to Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, allowing players to fight against two Furious Rajang at once. The event quest will take place in the Arena, and reward players with layered armor. The Dual Threat: Revelry of Destruction event quest is available to all Sunbreak players for free.

The quest takes place within the limited space of the Arena and tasks hunters with juggling two monsters at once. A similar version of the quest appeared in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. The quest series is infamous within the community for its high level of difficulty. As such, it's recommended that players take advantage of the Arena's temporary wall in order to segment the two Furious Rajang apart.

One of the key differences between the Iceborne and Sunbreak versions of the quest is in the completion rewards. In Iceborne, completing the quest rewarded players with the Buff Body layered armor set. Equipping the armor set would give players the appearance of a bodybuilder. In Sunbreak, however, the quest will award players with the Qurio Crown layered head armor. The Qurio Crown resembles the horns of the expansion's flagship monster, Malzeno.

https://twitter.com/monsterhunter/status/1562593475672956929?s=20&t=RfGvXJqorpmL4yeyhrZ_oA

The new Furious Rajang quest is one of the first event quests to release for Sunbreak. The previous event quest involved a Blood Orange Bishaten and Aknosom, and rewarded players with the "It's Over!" gestures. Furthermore, this followed the expansion's first free title update, which added several monster variants including the Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos. The next free title update will arrive in Late September 2022 and add the Flaming Espinas.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak is available on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch, and the Furious Rajang event quest is available for download via Senri the Mailman.

disgaea 7 header

The latest numbered entry in the Disgaea franchise, Disgaea 7, will come out in Japan on January 26, 2023. Information on the characters, system, and setting are available on the official Disgaea 7 website. There is no information on an English localization as of yet. The setting is reminiscent of ancient Japan, and follows the story of a girl who dreams of the bushido and a boy who hates the bushido.

So far, Nippon Ichi Software has revealed seven characters who will appear in Disgaea 7. However, only the main protagonists Fuji and Piririka have profiles. Fuji is a demon who is cruel, lazy, and stingy. He has a self-proclaimed allergy to empathy. When he feels emotions like love, friendship, or sympathy, he spits blood and faints. The heroine is Piririka, who is a rich girl from Wahei Makai. She is a serious otaku for the Hinomoto Makai, and has the wrong impression of what bushido is.

[gallery ids="934236,934235,934234,934232,934237,934231,934230" link="file"]

New systems that will appear in Disgaea 7 include Dodeka Max, item reincarnation, and online rank battles. Rank battles will be against AI rather than an actual human. Item reincarnation is similar to the existing reincarnation system in game. However, instead of characters, you can turn items into weapons and vice versa. You can make your own legendary weapon with this system.

Finally, Dodeka Max is a new system that allows you to turn your characters into giant versions of themselves. This includes Prinnies as well. You can open up huge treasure chests while in this mode, as well as defeat multiple enemies as well.

Disgaea 7 will come out on January 26, 2023 in Japan on the PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. More information will appear in the near future.

PS5 Price Hike

The PlayStation 5 is about to get more expensive, if you live in the right (or wrong) region. Sony is beginning a PS5 price hike that will affect sticker prices for the PlayStation 5 in various regions across the world, particularly outside the United States.

The PS5 price hike was announced on August 25, 2022 by Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan via a blog post. In the post, Ryan blamed "challenging economic conditions" brought about by inflation, and "adverse currency trends". In light of the pressure, Ryan said that SIE "made the difficult decision" to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PS5. The price hike will occur in "select markets" throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa (or EMEA), the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) and Latin America (LATAM). Even Sony's home in Japan, and Canada, a close neighbor to the U.S., will be affected.

Ryan said that the price increase was a necessity in the current global economic environment, Sony's top priority is "improving the PS5 supply situation". Even now the PS5 is difficult to acquire in many markets, with lines and lotteries forming and selling out extremely quickly.

Here's the list of suggested points for the PS5 price hike. All prices take effect immediately except for in Japan, where they take effect on September 15, 2022. The post also cautioned that other markets not listed below may see their own price increases. Interested buyers should check with their local retailers.

Overall the percentage price increases range between 3% and 10% from the previous RRP, for the standard, disc-equipped PS5 model. The PS5 Digital Edition, a much less popular model, will see a higher percentage bump.

Fear Effect Reinvented trailer cover-based shooterDiehard fans of the original PlayStation may remember Fear Effect, Kronos Digital Entertainment's cel-shaded, FMV-heavy action-adventure game. All the way back in 2017, publisher Square Enix Collective revealed that indie developer Sushee would fully remake the game and translate its old-school design choices for a modern audience. This remake, titled Fear Effect Reinvented, effectively disappeared from the gaming news landscape and general public discourse for years, leaving its future in doubt. That all changed yesterday. Forever Entertainment, the current publisher of Fear Effect Reinvented, uploaded a new teaser trailer for the game, which is now being developed by MegaPixel Studio. The trailer depicts a brief in-game shootout that displays all of the visual and gameplay changes front and center. Although the remake stays faithful to the original in the sense that it uses a similar cel-shaded art style, it completely swaps out the original's survival horror-esque tank c...
