The Tower of Fantasy 2.0 update has already been revealed, but most players are still working their way through the initial release areas. While there are plenty of ways to explore the environment quickly, such as the wide variety of Tower of Fantasy vehicles and a handy grappling hook baked into your Cybernetic Arm relic, there are certain areas of the game where your options are more limited. Reddit user Illunimous notes the power of the Cybernetic Arm, which can quickly pull you up to all sorts of remote locations, effectively bypassing a lot of awkward climbing and platforming. However, several locations including ruins and story mode zones restrict your ability to use the Cybernetic Arm - unless you make use of a nifty workaround. As Illunimous explains, the Omnium Handcannon relic has a rather novel effect that creates an energy pillar upon striking the ground or a water surface that lasts for up to 20 seconds. This pillar can be climbed on - and, crucially, the Cybernetic Arm's grapple can also latch onto it. This means that by shooting your Omnium Handcannon at the location you want to travel to, you can quickly grapple over to the pillar with the Cybernetic Arm. PCGamesN Saturday, August 27, 2022 8:12 AM  The Half-Life 2 VR mod adding full virtual reality support to Valve's beloved classic FPS game has arrived on Steam ahead of its planned release date in September. The fan-made project recently announced that players could look forward to playing the Half-Life 2 VR beta in September, but it wasn't certain that the mod would arrive on Steam. Now it's there, and the developer has given a more concrete date - so you can look forward to playing it as you wait for Half-Life 3, which we presume will be announced any day now. The Half-Life 2: VR Mod release date is September 16. You will, of course, need to own Half-Life 2 to play it, but can use any VR headset that is supported by SteamVR. The mod's developer, Source VR Mod Team, initially said that it hoped to launch the beta on a Friday in September. Thankfully, its appearance on Steam means that the mod appears to have been given the official nod from Valve. Given how successfully Half-Life: Alyx adapted the sci-fi setting to a virtual format, we're very excited to see more of Ravenholm and City 17 in fully realised VR. The headcrabs… perhaps a little less so. The mod includes full room-scale VR with tracked motion controls, allowing you to walk around, pick up objects, climb ladders and more in much the way you'd expect from a ground-up VR game. Most weapons already support manual reloading and aiming, with features such as functional iron-sights and two-handed weapons included as well. There is full support for left-handed players, and accessibility tools including a laser sight and quick reload feature for players that prefer a little more convenience. There are also comfort options available including motion vignette and a third-person vehicle camera. |

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is an action RPG released to near-universal praise back in 2021, with critics surprised by how well Square Enix nailed the tone and quirkiness of the original source material. Coupled with the gorgeous visuals and inspired soundtrack, the game was a hit, at least in its reception. Sales figures, however, not so much. All things considered, Steins;Gate is one of the more widely available Japanese adventure games you can find localized into English. In various forms, it's on PC, PS4, PS Vita, Nintendo Switch (though as an altered "Elite" edition), and even defunct platforms like the PS3 and Xbox 360. It's even on iOS, and as of this month, Steins;Gate is on Android in English as well. As of late August, Steins Gate android was updated in various app stores (including Huawei's Asia-centric AppGallery) to add localized languages. Previously, the game was playable only in Japanese by default [Thanks, Gamer and NoisyPixel!]. The localized edition of Steins Gate on Android now sports the English script option. It matches that seen in the PC version, which JAST licensed and localized in 2014. Science Adventure series fan site Kiri Kiri Basara gave the app a test and found some performance issues with it compared to other platforms. Issues like unexplained drops in framerate, a lack of support for text-wrapping, and climbs in device temperature raised their heads. The Steins;Gate android edition is, however, freemium. An interested player can download the app for free and play through the prologue, trying it before committing to a full purchase of the rest of the game. Steins;Gate is available on PS Vita, PS3, PC, Xbox 360, iOS, and Android. On Nintendo Switch and PS4 it's available as Steins;Gate Elite. Splatoon 3 arrives in just under two weeks, and Nintendo shared gameplay from its campaign. The latest Nintendo Treehouse: Live broadcast showcased some previously unseen Splatoon 3 single-player gameplay. Treehouse presenters were on hand to go through several missions from the campaign. They also introduced some basic gameplay to viewers, who might be new to the series. Players are in the role of "Agent 3" (not the same as the one in Splatoon 2), investigating what's going on in the domed arena. Besides the story, players can use the campaign mode as a safe space to practice before jumping into multiplayer matches. Splatoon and Splatoon 2 were more focused on their multiplayer component, and had fairly spartan single-player campaigns. Splatoon 2's story mode was expanded with the Octo Expansion DLC, which unlocked playable Octolings in multiplayer. The Splatoon 3 campaign should be familiar to players who tackled those modes in the previous game. As Agent 3, players take on Octarians (now "enhanced" with fur) and progressively unlock areas by surmounting platform and combat challenges. They can choose their loadouts before beginning a mission, though the game will suggest tools tailored to the stage's challenges. Other more specific challenges can also be found in Splatoon 3 single-player mode. The presenters took on challenges that feature the Splatana and the Tri-Stringer, the two new weapon types. Players also gather Power Eggs to unlock benefits and further story stages. The Last of Us Part I will also include options to make the combat easier. These are settings separate from the innate difficulty setting. You can set it so that enemies you grab don't break free, for example. Aside from setting enemy AI, you can customize the game's difficulty. There are six difficulty levels overall. But you can adjust things such as stealth, resources, and ally AI. The Last of Us Part I will come out on September 2, 2022 for the PS5. A PC version is reportedly in development.
