There's just something about the animal-like antics of those immense, lumbering creatures that make them naturally adorable, even though they wouldn't hesitate in breaking every single bone in my small, weak body. Zürich-based developers Stray Fawn Studio totally get what I'm on about, and have created their own lovable rocky giant in their city-building sim The Wandering Village. Their creature, Onbu, is a colossal six-legged beast, and the walking platform on which your village sits, a plateau of flat land mass on its back making for an excellent settlement ground. Onbu is best described as a gentle giant. They move slowly but carefully, love to munch on fields of wild mushrooms, nap in meadows of soft pink flowers, and tuck in their paws and tail when sleeping. |

Square Enix shed some more light on Dragon Quest Treasures with a new trailer from the 2022 Tokyo Game Show lineup. The new trailer lays out the basics of this "Treasure Life RPG" story, with new footage of gameplay as well. A chance meeting with a pair of unusual creatures named Porcus and Purrsula leaves them stranded in a mysterious new world: Draconia. This legendary world is brimming with treasures, danger, and the adventure that the siblings desired with all their hearts. Dragon Quest Treasures is an RPG but is oriented around exploration, treasure-hunting, and befriending many monsters from across the Dragon Quest canon. Erik and Mia and recruit, tame, and ally with various monsters to surmount the challenges of Draconia in search of exotic riches. The trailer shows the siblings employing their monster pals in inventive ways, like gliding, riding, and even using a slime to jump up the side of a sheer cliff. Monsters won't always be easy to recruit to the crew, though. Sometimes they'll want items or favors. Some special monsters will have unique requirements and abilities and prove more of a challenge to add to the lineup. The game releases globally on the Nintendo Switch on December 9, 2022. During the Capcom Online Program at TGS 2022, Capcom showed off a new trailer confirming the inclusions of Dhalsim, Blanka, E. Honda, and Ken for Street Fighter 6. The video also details the three main modes of the game: World Tour, Fighting Ground, and Battle Hub. World Tour will be a story mode, whereas Fighting Ground and Battle Hub are more PvP oriented. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmbIZ4nBxzE The World Tour mode is Street Fighter 6's story mode, but it follows the story of your player-created avatar. You can customize your look, as well as battle NPCs to learn new skills. For example, you can learn Chun-Li's Spinning Bird Kick from her. You can challenge random World Tour opponents and instantly enter a battle screen. Meanwhile, the Battle Hub is an online lobby area. There will also be online tournaments to participate in from here. Members of the Battle Hub can watch matches, and for those feeling nostalgic, there is a Game Center to play retro games such as Street Fighter II and Final Fight. The third mode, Fighting Ground, has Extreme Battles. These will allow you to add in Gimmicks and Rules. Rules will change up victory conditions, while Gimmicks add in random occurrences to change up a match. An example of a Gimmick is a bull that will occasionally run in, forcing players to avoid it. Finally, the trailer introduces Ken, Blanka, Dhalsim, and E. Honda, who will return in Street Fighter 6. In the trailer, we can see that all four of them have kept their trademark moves and signature skill sets, but with some new additions to their repertoire. Blanka will be able to use Blanka-chan Bombs, whereas E. Honda has a new Sumo Dash. Street Fighter 6 is in development for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. It will come out in 2023. Those with an interest and passion for fighting games may be interested in the Street Fighter 6 closed beta, which has now opened. It will run from a limited time from October 7 to October 10, 2022 (JST). You will be testing out the various modes, such as ranked matches and training mode. Capcom has uploaded a trailer for its Street Fighter 6 closed beta. However, the majority of the video does not have much to do with the game. You can watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-IRWbzcb74 Available characters are Luke, Jamie, Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, Kimberly, Juri, and Ken. There will also be Character Creation, but you can only create one. When you first open the game, you can customize your Battle Hub avatar. The only participation requirement is that you have a Capcom ID linked with an account on your PS5, Xbox Series X, or Windows PC. Players without a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription will still be able to access online features for the Street Fighter 6 closed beta. Once the game goes live, however, you will need an account if you want to play online. Participants in the closed beta will also get a special bonus gift after the game comes out. Since this is a closed beta, there may be some issues during test sessions. The version that players will play will be one that is still in development. After finishing the beta test, participants will fill in a survey. It will not be mandatory to fill out, though Capcom urges everyone to do so to best understand what changes they will need to implement. Street Fighter 6 will come out on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC in 2023. The closed beta will not be available for PS4 players. Suikoden is back. Or rather, the two best-known Suikoden games are back. Konami announced Suikoden I and II HD Remaster at its 2022 Tokyo Game Show livestream event on September 16, 2022. As might be gleaned from the title, it's an HD remastering of Suikoden and its sequel (known as Genso Suikoden in Japan), and is headed to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch in 2023. The in-game graphics have also been retouched, but generally retain a look close to the originals, though in widescreen aspect ratio, with heavily redone environment art. The battle scenes also feature more realistic rendering on the environments, which are in 3D. Overall the remaster appears to be similar to that done for the mobile re-releases of various Final Fantasy games prior to the Pixel Remaster line. That said, the differences are really only apparent in side-by-side comparison. The presentation didn't mention if there would be significant gameplay adjustments, though there are some changes, like an auto-save, battle speed adjustment, and a conversation log for reviewing dialog. For example, Suikoden II HD Remaster sprites will be able to move diagonally. Check out some screens of the comparison shots surfaced during the presentation. Comparisons of the updated character art are also available. Overseas they were at first overshadowed by higher-profile RPG releases - Suikoden II hit shelves just ten days prior to Final Fantasy VIII - but gained recognition over time, getting rereleased in Japan as a PSP two-game bundle. They were rereleased globally as PS1 Classics in 2008, and became downloadable on the PlayStation Network to PS3s, PSPs, PS Vitas, and PS TV devices. However, the closure of the Vita and PSP stores has made them difficult to acquire. Suikoden I and II HD Remaster is in development and will release on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch in 2023.
