While it's safe to assume this new entry to the series won't be called The Witcher 4, we're going to call it that for now for lack of a better, more official term. The closest we have to a title at the moment is its internal codename: Polaris. Both display a vast chaotic ballet, in which two teams composed of some of the most well-realised characters in hero shooters wage war until one team emerges triumphant. Just like its predecessor, Overwatch 2 is one of the most delicately crafted sensory onslaughts I've experienced in a game. Guiding my old favourite heroes through venerable maps like King's Row and Route 66, it's like I never left. In many ways, it feels like I've simply been given a reason to play Overwatch 1 again. Is that enough for a sequel? Is it enough to justify the incredibly confusing, lengthy, and oft-botched process of trying to make Overwatch feel relevant again? I'm not certain it is. But perhaps it should be. |

Byking has published five free games on PCs to coincide with the Steam Next Fest event. The Japanese studio has been holding an annual game development program for new recruits. It also announced that this marks the first time it has publicized the games created by its new staff members. Two out of the five titles feature robot combat. CustomBullet is a 1v1 mecha versus game with a robust robot and weapon customization system. RunOut is a three-player competitive game where each player can change the robot type on the go while trying to push other players into lava. The other three titles are Ignite, an input-based magic action game; Toynip, a two-player cooperative tower defense game; and Reilla ~Sweets Adventure~, a 2D side-scrolling action game. Though the actual games only support the Japanese language, Byking has added English descriptions on each title's Steam page. Despite being released on PCs, all five games only support gamepad controls instead of keyboard and mouse. Custom Bullet and Toynip also only have multiplayer modes with no single-player support. In recent years, the company has been best known for developing two My Hero One's Justice games, which Bandai Namco released in 2018 and 2020, respectively. However, Byking also published its own game, titled Abyss Memory: Fallen Angel and the Path of Magic, in late April 2022. The latter is available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Byking is also working with Amuzio to release a PlayStation 4 version of its 2016 arcade title Magicians Dead: Force of the Soul. The company initially revealed a Spring 2022 release window in November 2021. In May 2022, it delayed the game's release to Winter. Atlus plans to improve the Soul Hackers 2 experience for all players with an update for the game. The Soul Hackers 2 patch will add some new features designed to make crawling dungeons less of a crawl, as well as to speed battles up. The update should arrive in "a few weeks", or sometime in early November 2022. In its news post announcing the Soul Hackers 2 patch, Atlus detailed some of the changes planned. The main addition is the "Dash" function. This speeds up Ringo's movement in dungeons so she and the party can cover more ground. The Dash function is a toggle that can be set anytime. It also accompanies an adjustment to one of Milady's Summoner Skills, "Assassin's Stride". Previously, the skill increased movement speed temporarily during exploration. Following the patch, it'll cause enemies to ignore Ringo for a set distance. Second, the Soul Hackers 2 patch adds a "Speed Up" mode to battle. This speeds up combat animations. Other adjustments include tweaks to loading screen tips, changes to on-screen prompts shown during Soul Level Increase to reduce instances of accidental input, adjustments to enemy spawn rates in dungeons, and the ability to move directly to shops from the City Map screen. PC players who want to play Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 can now download its demo version on Steam. Inti Creates released the PC demo at the same time as the start of the platform's Steam Next Fest. Players will be able to progress through the demo until the "Holynight XIII" mission. They can also keep the demo's save data to transfer their progress to the upcoming full release. The PC version supports Windows 7 and 8.1, as listed in the game's minimum requirements. It also mentioned a 2Ghz processor, a graphics card with 2GB VRAM, and 8GB RAM of memory. For the best performances, Inti Creates recommends a 3Ghz CPU, 4GB VRAM, and 16GB RAM on the Windows 10 operating system. Inti Creates announced a release date of July 28, 2022, for Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 at New Game Expo Plus 2022 in late March 2022. However, that date only pertained to the Nintendo Switch version. Shortly afterward, on August 1, 2022, the company also released the game for Xbox One and Xbox Series X. The full PC version of Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 will launch in Winter 2022. The side-scrolling action game is currently available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Inti Creates will also bring the title to PlayStation 4 and 5 on December 15, 2022. Front Mission 1st: Remake is arriving in November, but fans can also look forward to what's on the schedule for after that. Forever Entertainment updated the official website for its remake projects with a new section for Front Mission 2: Remake. The update doesn't include a more detailed release window, but it does include some new screenshots that show off the difference between the two upcoming games. It also has a section for Front Mission 3: Remake, which was confirmed at the 2022 Tokyo Game Show, though it doesn't have any content as of yet. Check out the screenshots in the gallery. Despite both being developed by Forever Entertainment, Front Mission 1st: Remake and Front Mission 2: Remake show off some notable differences. The second game's tactical maps have a more pronounced 3D effect, and the garage screen seen in the TGS 2022 trailer is also presented in a different style from Front Mission 1st's. The style of the character art is also somewhat different. Characters from the Front Mission 2 story like Thomas Norland and Lisa Stanley are visible in the screens and trailer. This remake will be the first time Front Mission 2 has received an official release outside Japan. The story takes place 12 years after Front Mission 1st and is set in the fictional nation of Alordesh. A member of the Oceania Cooperative Union (a major geopolitical power bloc comprising Australia, New Zealand, and countries in Southeast, East, and South Asia), the Alordeshi military launches a coup against the OCU-led government in an attempt to declare independence. The story follows three OCU-affiliated officers as they try to survive the coup and investigate some of the forces hidden behind the scenes. October 6, 2022, is a big day for folks interested in the upcoming Super Mario Bros Movie. That's when Nintendo will broadcast a special Nintendo Direct presentation revealing the film. The film itself releases in April 2023. According to Nintendo of America's official Twitter account, the Super Mario Bros Movie Nintendo Direct is scheduled for 1:05 Pacific Time (4:05 ET) on October 6, 2022. Like other Nintendo Direct broadcasts, it'll be viewable on YouTube, accessed via this link. The timing is telling: 1:05 PM Pacific Time is exactly five minutes after the New York Comic Con reveal, which is set for 4:00 PM Eastern Time. The tweet announcing the Direct also featured the film's first poster illustration, visible below.
The poster shows Mario from behind, being led by Toad and surrounded by various other unnamed Mushroom Kingdom residents. This rendition of the Mushroom Kingdom is a bit different from the ones seen in the games. In the Super Mario Bros. Movie, it's a big, multi-layered city laid out over a cluster of hills and with different areas connected by multi-colored warp pipes. Good thing there are companies that make quieter mice, like Mojo. I reviewed Mojo's Pro Performance Silent Gaming Mouse last year. The first mouse I tried had clickier clicks than I expected, but I assumed this to be an anomaly, as the next one I tried was much quieter. At first. After a while, the right switch got clickier and stopped reliably registering a lot of inputs. I found that I couldn't play competitive online games using it. Still, I wanted to give Mojo another chance with a review of its more recent Silent Dual Mode Wireless Rechargeable Gaming Mouse. While the results are far from terrible, they are disheartening all the same. My initial experience somewhat mirrored my experience with previous type of Mojo mouse, albeit much worse. It's no secret at this point that AMD's AM5 platform is pricey if you want to reap the performance of a Ryzen 7000 CPU. The new move to a free-to-play format likely has tons of curious players wanting to try out the game. As such, those hoping to join the fight are facing login errors, extensive queues, and connection losses. There have also been unfortunate reports of DDoS attacks. Overwatch 2 servers went live today at 12 PM PST / 3 PM EST, but some streamers were facing issues earlier in the day. Twitch streamer Seagull, for instance, faced a queue of over 20K players in his attempts to log in. He also got disconnected more than once, forcing him back into queue. In a recent interview, Sony stated that exclusives won't be made available on PC for at least a year after their initial console launch.
