Genshin Impact 3.2 leak takes us inside new temporary domain

This recent Genshin Impact leak gives us a quick look at the inside of a new, temporary domain that'll be coming to the RPG game in version 3.2 update. Temporary areas are added regularly, but this one stands apart from others in Sumeru in terms of visuals. And it's likely more than just a simple one-off domain found through exploration, as it's far too large and non-linear.

Minecraft sniffer guide: what we know about the mob vote winner

Despite its somewhat off-putting name, the Minecraft sniffer went ahead and stole an overwhelming victory in the 2022 Minecraft Live mob vote. Over 50% of us (myself included) voted in the ancient mob, leaving Mojang Studios to bring it back to life sometime in 2023. No doubt part of the reason the sniffer won by a landslide is the new plant mechanics it will bring to the sandbox game.

While we still don't know much about the Minecraft sniffer, and the new mob is in very early development, some things were revealed in the lead up to the mob vote. So as we look forward to the newest of Minecraft mobs, here's everything we know about the sniffer.

Minecraft 1.20 update release date speculation and new features

The upcoming Minecraft 1.20 update was announced during Minecraft Live on October 15, 2022, and while the update remains unnamed at this point, Mojang Studios has still revealed some of the new and exciting features we can expect in the survival game in 2023. Based around representation and creativity, we know the next update will include new Minecraft skins, and a new mob in the form of the Minecraft camel - as well as the Sniffer.

The Minecraft 1.20 update announcement bucked the trend from previous years' update announcements. Still revealed during Minecraft Live, we were told fewer details than in past years, due in some part to previously announced mechanics and additions never making it to the game, like fireflies, resulting in a backlash from fans. To avoid that happening again, Mojang has this year only confirmed features that are almost ready to go. On the plus side, this means we'll be able to playtest these features much sooner than in previous years, with new snapshots coming within just days of the Minecraft Live broadcast.

Fallout 5 should be like New Vegas, and made by Obsidian, not Bethesda

Fallout 5 would be better if it were created by New Vegas and The Outer Worlds developer Obsidian. This would leave Bethesda the space to focus on its other RPGs like Starfield, Skyrim (which is still getting updated even now) and The Elder Scrolls 6. I've believed this for a while, but with Feargus Urquhart, producer on Fallout 2 and Obsidian's CEO, saying the studio would "love" to make another Fallout game, now someone who actually has a chance of making it happen is saying it, too.

GTA 6 release date rumours, news, and speculation

Want to know more about the GTA 6 release date? Given how many years it takes to create open world games of the same calibre as GTA V, it's no surprise that Rockstar Games has already spent years developing GTA 6. Like most developers, Rockstar prefers to keep its secrets close to its chest until they're close to the end of development, so we may not see any official GTA 6 gameplay for some time.

Early gameplay footage of GTA 6 recently surfaced online, along with lines of source code from the game itself. Rockstar has issued a statement on Twitter which confirms that an unauthorised third party managed to access and download information from their systems, including development footage for GTA 6. However, its statement notes that the developers don't believe this leak should impact the development of their long-term projects or disrupt their live service games.

Minecraft camel guide: what we know about the new 1.20 mob

During Minecraft Live 2022, the Minecraft camel was announced, alongside other new additions coming with the 1.20 update that's set to arrive in 2023. You might think this new will have nothing unique to offer when there are existing Minecraft mobs like the horse and llama, but you'd be wrong: there's more to this hump-backed mammal than you think.

This adorable creature is going to be a great addition to the deserts and badlands, which are currently among the least developed of the Minecraft biomes. As we mention further down, the new mob has some great mechanics for adventuring across these sparse lands, but while we don't yet know whether you can store items on a camel like you can the llama, we'll hopefully find out very soon. The Minecraft camel also has an adorable standing animation, reflecting its real-world movement, and aids representation for Minecraft players around the world.

     How to heal in Scorn

If you're unsure how to heal in Scorn, you're going to have a bad time. While Scorn does give you a weapon to defend yourself, in true first-person survival horror game fashion, it doesn't mean you're less susceptible to taking damage yourself. In fact, dispatching enemies requires you to get up close and personal, making you more vulnerable in the process.

Scorn delivers information to you almost entirely through its environment, including when it comes to the first puzzle in Scorn and its saw or scoop decision, so we don't blame you if you've already taken a few knocks and don't know how to heal. If you're worried about your chances of survival, you'll be pleased to know there is a way. You can press 'E' to heal in Scorn, but whether or not this will heal you depends on whether you've actually acquired the ability to heal yet. Read on to find out when you can expect to pick up your healing tool, and how to recharge it once depleted.

     How long is Scorn?

Wondering how long is Scorn? Ebb Software's first-person survival horror game is a macabre love letter to the haunting, surrealist work of Giger and Beksiński, which is guaranteed to pique the interest of anyone with a passing interest in the genre. It's also been a long time coming, having been in development since 2014. After eight years of waiting, it's no surprise that fans are eager to learn just how long this techno-organic nightmare is going to last.

Scorn is a labyrinthine hellscape that endlessly unfolds as you explore, begging the question: 'just how long is Scorn'? If you're looking for the light at the end of the tunnel, read on to find the answer.

Should you choose the saw or the scoop for the Scorn egg puzzle

The choice between the saw or scoop in Scorn is an essential part of the very first puzzle in Ebb Software's first-person survival horror game, and it's a pretty dramatic one. In order to open the door that blocks your progress through the alien structure at the beginning of the game, you must first enlist the help of a fleshy, humanoid creature. One problem: they're currently trapped inside an egg. You can choose one of two ways to break them out, and both definitely violate health and safety regulations. If you're tying yourself in knots wondering what the outcome of either choice may be, we've got the scoop… or the saw.

Like most games where choices matter, the choice between the saw or scoop in Scorn is an ethical decision that has wider implications for the outcome of the story, so be sure to choose wisely. There's no objectively right or wrong choice, but your decision makes a big statement about how you plan to interact with this biomechanical world, and how you view the strange beings that inhabit it. Without further flim-flamming, here are the outcomes for choosing the saw or scoop in Scorn's egg puzzle.

Scorn first puzzle solution: how to open the door

If you're stuck on the first puzzle in Scorn then we're here to help. This puzzle is effectively a microcosm of Ebb Software's first-person survival horror game. The relatively straightforward concept of discovering how to open the massive door consists of a number of moving parts spread across a large, self-contained area, with plenty of macabre moments and the potential to inflict a gruesome death on a strange alien being that doesn't really deserve it.

In short, the first puzzle in Scorn really throws you in the deep end, so we don't blame you if you're feeling completely lost already. Your goal is to open the giant locked door in the main cavern that leads to the rest of the alien structure. You have the means to manipulate door controls via the alien modification to your arm – but there are two consoles, and you can only operate one at a time. In order to progress, you'll need to recruit an unwitting (and somewhat unwilling) volunteer. Here's how to solve the first puzzle in Scorn.

Is it just me, or did Persona 5 never feel quite at home on the PlayStation 4? Sure, it looked gorgeous on a big TV, its bright colours popping all over your living room, but it always felt bit wrong to me. I think it's all about pacing. Persona 5's blend of turn-based combat and life sim elements hardly moves at a breakneck speed. There's a lot of reading. A lot of listening to your pals chat about their hopes and fears. A lot of pressing one button to progress a line of dialogue onto the next. Shoving that on your 65" 4K TV always seemed a bit overkill.

Basically, I never got into Persona 5 when it first launched on PS4. I played about three hours of it and then binned it off in favour of something else. In 2020, during a moment of first-lockdown madness, I bought Persona 5 Royal for full price, thinking maybe my issue with the original release was that there wasn't enough of it, but surprisingly discovered it still wasn't for me. At this point, I'd invested £100 into my "Do I like Persona 5?" experiment and was quickly realising the result was a pretty firm "No, mate, you don't". So when I sat down with the PC version of the game on the Steam Deck to test it out, I figured I'd play it for a few hours and then never touch it again. I was wrong. I was so very wrong.

I finished the original Persona 5 roughly four years ago, and it immediately earned my most coveted award: Edders Really Liked This A Lot, Perhaps More Than Anything Else. Since its updated and expanded Royal version dropped on PlayStation some years later, I've been afraid to make my return. You'd think I'd be itching to delve back into what's essentially the definitive version of the Phantom Thieves' adventure, and yet it's precisely because it blew me away the first time that I've been reluctant to go back.

Now? Now I feel silly. After playing the early portions of Persona 5: Royal, which finds itself coming to practically every remaining platform this week, including PC, my goodness me, it's wonderful to be back in Shibuya with the gang. Already it's the Persona 5 I adored, with new cutscenes and pacing adjustments to make it – somehow – even better. Have you never played Persona before? Good! Let me twist your arm. Gi-give, no - give it here!

monochrome mobius demo

Naoya Shimokawa, the COO and an executive producer at Aquaplus, has Tweeted that the company is working hard on developing a demo for Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten. When finished, the demo will take about 4 to 5 hours to complete if playing normally. It would also be around 10% of the full game's contents. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

https://twitter.com/AP_shimokawa/status/1580822788465889280

The demo should take 4-5 hours to complete and it is 10% of the full game. This implies a total playtime of about 40 to 50 hours to finish. Shimokawa has not provided an estimate as to when the demo will become available. Unlike previous Utawarerumono games, which was a tactical role-playing game with visual novel elements, Monochrome Mobius will play closer to a classic JRPG. It will feature turn-based combat, 3D characters, and field exploration.

Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten will take place in the Utawarerumono world. The game had an original release date of September 2022, but two delays pushed it back until November 2022. It will act as a prequel to Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception, focusing on the character Oshtor. In Mask of Deception, Oshtor was a major side character, and was General of the Right in the Empire of Yamato. He wore an "Akuruka" mask and could call upon supernatural powers.

You can watch a trailer for Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten here:

Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten is in development and will come out worldwide on November 17, 2022 for the PS4, PS5, and Windows PC.

One Piece Card Game 25th Anniversary

Premium Bandai opened pre-orders for the One Piece Card Game premium 25th-anniversary collection, which includes ten cards of the Straw Hat Pirate crew.  Each set will cost 2,200 yen (about $14) and will be available in Japan. Pre-orders will be open until November 30, 2022, or while supplies last. Items will ship sometime in January 2023.

Each card will come with a special illustration of the crew members, as well as an illustration of said character from the One Piece manga in the background. Additionally, the collection comes with a special holding folder. The collection previously appeared as part of a special in-person anniversary event but was not available for purchase until now. Furthermore, it's important to note that the pre-order is specified as the "first round", which may indicate additional pre-orders at a later date.

Due to the series' popularity, Premium Bandai limited pre-orders to two sets per customer. However, within minutes of opening pre-orders, the entire Premium Bandai website experienced major congestion issues and problems with confirming purchases. As of writing nearly seven hours later, the web page is still experiencing difficulties. To this, Bandai recommends that users wait some time before trying to access the page again.

You can get a better look at the One Piece Card Game 25th-anniversary edition collection below:

The One Piece Card Game 25th anniversary collection is available in Japan via the Premium Bandai website. The collection will cost 2,200 yen (about $14) and ship sometime in January 2023. Pre-orders will end on November 30, 2022, or when supplies run out.

FFXIV All Saints Wake 2022

A fright-filled Halloween is coming to Final Fantasy XIV next week. Or rather, a fright-filled "All Saints' Wake", which is the Eorzean seasonal event that just so happens to fall in the same period as the real world's Halloween (and All Saints' Day). This year, FFXIV All Saints' Wake 2022 begins its annual run on Wednesday, October 19th, and runs until November 1st, the same day as the real world's All Saints' Day.

This will be the second time this year the FFXIV All Saints' Wake 2022 event has actually happened. This is because the 2021 event was delayed by the release of the Endwalker expansion. As such, the 2021 event happened in January 2022, rewarding players with a festive clown suit.

To celebrate, Square Enix uploaded some bespoke artwork and a preview screenshot of a decorative holiday haunted mansion.

[gallery columns="2" ids="937375,937376" link="file"]

As with the typical seasonal Final Fantasy XIV event, players will need to be level 15 and have access to Gridania to start the event quest. They'll need to talk to The Adventurer's Guild Investigator at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre. From there, they'll need to complete the quest to win the goods, or currency that can be traded for the goods at the event vendor. This time, the FFXIV All Saints' Wake prizes include both a full costume set and an emote.

The costume set is the "Wake Doctor" set. It includes a full-face mask, a lab coat-like top with attached potion holders and tool belt, and pants, gloves, and shoes. The emote is "Eat Pumpkin Cookie", which prompts the Warrior of Light to chow down on a jack-o-lantern-shaped cookie. Lastly, for FFXIV housing enthusiasts, there's a Caged Wisp, a tabletop decor item that shows a glowing blue ball imprisoned inside a metal cage.

Final Fantasy XIV is readily available on PC, PS4, and PS5. The event begins on October 19, 2022, and runs until November 1, 2022.

Minecraft 120 Camel Mob Sniffer New SkinsOver the weekend, Minecraft developer Mojang Studios unveiled even more big updates coming to the already massive survival sim during Minecraft Live 2022. Minecraft version 1.20 is set to bring a host of welcome additions, such as new default character skins, a camel mob, hanging signs, bamboo construction set, and more. The team also revealed the winner of the community mob vote. And it's pretty much the adorable creature you expected. But first, let's go over a few of the things coming to Minecraft starting with update 1.20. It's a long list, so let's highlight the, erm, highlights. First off, Minecraft is getting a whole host of new default skins to choose from in update 1.20. Alex and Steve have been joined by seven new blocky faces, whose names include, Sunny, Kai, Makena, Zuri, Efe, Ari, and Noor. Mojang also points out in the update post that Sunny, Efe, and Noor were teased way back in the June trailer announcing the launch of The Wild update. Sneaky. &n...

Silent Hill 2 ShowcaseFor those that had money on Silent Hill's return, you might be in luck. It looks like Konami is finally giving us an update on what's next for the franchise very soon. The official Silent Hill Twitter account announced a showcase for October 19 at 5 PM ET that will share "The latest updates for the Silent Hill series." The Silent Hill Twitter account has been relegated to sharing news about merchandise and collaborations for a long time, so to see an actual game announcement come from it is a bit shocking. But it confirms what many had long believed and rumored. We still don't fully know what the series' comeback will look like, but some leaks may give us a hint.   Silent Hill is making a comeback This year has been filled with rumors, and skepticism, about Silent Hill's return. But now that we know the series is indeed coming back in some form, we can take a look at what may be at the Silent Hill showcase. According to a recent hint from...

Modern Warfare 2 Third Person Mode ChangeBack in September, Call of Duty fans got a glimpse of Modern Warfare 2 with the multiplayer beta. Apart from the standard 6v6 modes, players got to experience Ground War and a third-person game mode. Although the Call of Duty community was pleased to return to the Modern Warfare franchise, there were various criticisms. The new perk system, Dead Silence alerting enemies when used, and the removal of red dots from the mini map are just a few examples. Now, the development team has shared another change coming to Modern Warfare 2 , and it involves the game's third-person mode. The third-person view put a twist on traditional game modes, and playing from a new perspective gave Modern Warfare 2 a fresh feel. The mode proved popular with players, but it has undergone a notable change since we last got our hands on it. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 third-person change at launch On October 16, a post was uploaded to the Call of Duty Instagram account, detailing a key change to the thir...

Splinter Cell Remake Director Leaves UbisoftLast December Ubisoft announced that a Splinter Cell remake is under development. One of the lead figures working on the project was Ubisoft veteran David Grivel. The game director for the Splinter Cell remake, Grivel was responsible for deciding the overall design direction, management, and game mechanics. However, Grivel announced on LinkedIn that he has now stepped down from that role. The post reads: "After more than 11 years at Ubisoft, it is now time for me to go on a new adventure." Grivel continues on to acknowledge the friends he has made at Ubisoft. He also highlighted the games he worked on, which include Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry Primal, and, most recently, the Splinter Cell remake.   The director of the Splinter Cell remake started out at Ubisoft in January 2011 as the game designer for Ghost Recon Future Soldier. He then became a lead game designer, and finally a game director. Before Ubisof...

Scorn Review (7)What if a game took heavy inspiration from the works of H. R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński, and then offered very little gameplay to match? Because that's what's powering my scorn for Scorn, a first-person puzzle game featuring cool visuals, terrible combat, and not much satisfaction. There is even less plot than you think. You are a humanoid that was crawling through a purple desert towards a phallic structure slowly wasting away in the winds. The ground collapses under your feet, and you get knocked unconscious before later waking up in front of a door. Go get 'em, tiger. In Scorn, there's nothing motivating the player character — you push forward because that's what you do as a player. You don't know why the protagonist does it. You don't even know how the protagonist does it. How do they know to operate the machinery and what it will do? The player, ultimately, wishes to beat the game. The protagonist? Who can say? Wandering while...
