Siliconera Wednesday, October 19, 2022 11:00 PM Konami has released a new Silent Hill game on the horizon during its Silent Hill transmission livestream: Silent Hill F. Ryukishi07, the creator of the When They Cry sound novel series of games, will be the writer. Taiwan-based studio Neobards Entertainment will develop the game, with Motoi Okamoto as the producer, and "kera" as the creature and character designer. The trailer does not contain any gameplay footage, which implies that the game is still in the early development stage. However, it does give a good idea as to the general atmosphere that the game will have. It features a much more Japanese-inspired setting than the American aesthetic of the Silent Hill series. For example, a Japanese doll is prominent in the trailer, and the setting appears to be a rural shopping district in the 1960s. Plants and flowers are also key symbols for the game. You can watch the trailer for Silent Hill F below. As a warning, there is some footage that those with trypophobia may find upsetting at around 1:12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3r7QnKutko As mentioned above, Ryukishi07 is the author and artist of When They Cry, which includes Higurashi: When They Cry and Umineko: When They Cry. Both series lean heavily into the psychological horror genre, with some elements of gore. Neobards Entertainment previously worked on Resident Evil: Resistance, and Motoi Okamoto was the director of Wii Play. Silent Hill F is in development, with more information to come out soon. Other games Konami announced during the Silent Hill transmission include Silent Hill: Townfall and a remake of Silent Hill 2. Siliconera Wednesday, October 19, 2022 10:00 PM Konami went all-out with new Silent Hill announcements during its livestream, and Silent Hill: Ascension might be one of the more unique takes on the series so far. It promises to blend community, live storytelling, and interactive mechanics. It's being produced by four companies: Genvid, which specializes in "Massively Interactive Live Events", Bad Robot Games, the game arm of the production company led by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Director J.J. Abrams, Behaviour Studios, developers of Dead by Daylight, and DJ2, which helped adapt the Sonic the Hedgehog films. Check out the teaser trailer for Silent Hill: Ascension below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7_QDCTX-Vo The teaser shows brief shots of a monster, along with closeups of chat messages, emphasizing the multiplayer, community-led aspect of the game. Some of the chat messages tell "Amina", a character in the story, to "Run!". The teaser promised that the project would go live in 2023. During the stream, Genvid CEO Jacob Navok spoke of the appeal of "communal fear" that fans can watch together, and interact with en masse. Fan interactions with the story as it broadcasts live can change the story, with the outcomes becoming set in "canon", with "no reset button". Bad Robot Games Art Director Chris Amaral spoke about the psychological roots of Silent Hill: Ascension's monster designs, saying that the creatures would be inspired by the personal traumas and demons of the characters. Chris Ferriera of Behaviour Studios was also on hand to talk up the way Ascension will blend audience interaction and live storytelling. Silent Hill: Ascension is in development, and will go live in 2023. Its platforms or service details have not yet been confirmed. Interested fans can sign up for updates at the official website. Siliconera Wednesday, October 19, 2022 9:30 PM More than just the Silent Hill 2 remake was on display at Konami's Silent Hill transmission livestream. Three entirely new Silent Hill-related games are also in development. One of them is Silent Hill: Townfall. It's being developed by No Code, which created Stories Untold and Observation, alongside Annapurna Interactive, which published games like Outer Wilds and Sayonara Wild Hearts. Konami aired a teaser for the new title during the stream. Check it out below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wWF_TKSvzI The Silent Hill: Townfall teaser doesn't show off gameplay footage, but does establish a mood. It begins with a monologue by a man talking to someone, saying the person he's talking to is "here to be punished". A shot of a portable television shows off various disturbing images and brief glimpses of some kind of monster, before resolving onto a blood-red wave crashing onto a beach. A video message from No Code Creative Director John McKellan recounted memories of playing the original Silent Hill, and noted how much of an influence the series has been on the developers at No Code and Annapurna. He mentioned the focus of their own titles, Stories Untold and Observation, on "deep psychological horror," traits they want to use in weaving the narrative of Silent Hill: Townfall. McKellan said that though the game is still early in development, they planned to share more info sometime in 2023. Silent Hill: Townfall is in development. It does not have an announced release date or platform at this time. The post Silent Hill: Townfall Coming From Observation Developers appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Wednesday, October 19, 2022 8:00 PM A third live-action film adaptation of Silent Hill is coming, and it's coming from Christophe Gans, who directed the first Silent Hill movie. It's called Return to Silent Hill, and was announced alongside a remake of Silent Hill 2 during Konami's Silent Hill Transmission livestream event. Konami aired a featurette to promote the Return to Silent Hill movie, featuring Gans himself and producer Victor Hadida. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_FOVN-UkEI The featurette was light on concrete details, but it seems that Return to Silent Hill will take its main inspiration from Silent Hill 2. It'll also feature a man finding his wife, named Mary, in the iconic town. Gans spoke of the challenges of adapting "the language of the game" to the needs of cinematic storytelling. Though it's the third Silent Hill movie, it appears to be more connected to the first film than Silent Hill: Revelations, which was not directed by Gans. Gans also mentioned that Pyramid Head will make an appearance in the movie, but also that other familiar monsters will show up and make a "new impact". Gans and Hadida also showed off concept art and snippets of storyboards from the film, and spoke on how they want to keep the story and "respect" at the core of the film, even as they acknowledge that "everything has changed" in the intervening 15 years. As such, "bringing something new" is part of the goal. Return to Silent Hill is in production, but does not have a premiere date. A game remake of Silent Hill 2 was also announced. Siliconera Wednesday, October 19, 2022 7:00 PM Konami has officially confirmed what rumors had hinted for some time: Observer and The Medium developer Bloober Team is developing a remake of Silent Hill 2. A teaser trailer for the project opened the company's Silent Hill Transmission livestream event. On consoles the game will be exclusive to the PS5 for at least 12 months, though it will also release on PC. Check out the Silent Hill 2 remake teaser trailer below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qPdInnvMzg The trailer features Silent Hill 2 protagonist James Sunderland walking around the fog-choked town of Silent Hill in search of his wife, Mary. Also sighted are monsters like the writhing nurses and Pyramid Head. Though in development by Bloober Team, the remake project involves Masahiro Ito, who served as art director on the original version of the game. According to Ito, Konami approached him about participating in the remake three years ago, dating the Silent Hill 2 remake to as early as 2019. Composer Akira Yamaoka is also involved. He said that the remake will have a "new musical style", and that they hope to balance pleasing existing fans with drawing in new ones. Members of Bloober Team also delivered a brief presentation to talk up the effort, and spoke of recreating what made Silent Hill 2 so well-regarded, while still providing some modernizations. Some behind-the-scenes footage showed off ongoing performance capture work. The Silent Hill 2 remake is in development, and will land on PS5 and PC. Konami has not confirmed a release window for it as of yet. The post Konami Announces Silent Hill 2 Remake is in Development appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Wednesday, October 19, 2022 4:00 PM A new demo build for Street Fighter 6 will appear in Japan. Capcom will hold the final Street Fighter 35th Anniversary Exhibit in Osaka from November 18 to December 25, 2022. The new venue will add character artwork from the recently announced new mainline entry, in addition to the public physical demo. While Capcom held a global closed beta test for Street Fighter 6 in early October 2022, this demo build will be available more broadly to Japanese audiences and tourists. Every visitor will have to purchase a ticket to enter the exhibit venue. They can also pay more to receive a set of hologram stickers that include chibi versions of Street Fighter 6's Ryu, Chun-Li, and Juri. The Street Fighter 6 demo will have a different access time from the whole exhibit's open hours of 10:00~20:00 JST. Capcom will open access to the demo at 13:00 JST every day. It will close access at 18:00 on Mondays through Thursdays and 19:00 from Fridays to Sundays, as well as on holidays. Besides Street Fighter 6, the venue will also have playable arcade cabinets of Street Fighter II X and Final Fight. All ticket holders will also receive another ticket, which will allow them to access the arcade games for up to two sessions. Capcom previously held the Street Fighter 35th Anniversary Exhibit in Shibuya, Tokyo in February-March 2022 and Kitakyushu, Fukuoka in June-August 2022. When the company announced the earlier venues in January 2022, it had yet to formally reveal Street Fighter 6. The upcoming Osaka venue will be the last time Capcom holds the anniversary exhibit. Street Fighter 6 will release for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2023. The final Street Fighter 35th Anniversary Exhibit will take place on the 14th floor of Shinsaibashi Parco in Osaka from November 18 to December 25, 2022. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, October 19, 2022 7:18 PM Konami wrapped up its Silent Hill Transmission earlier today, dropping several high-profile announcements on games and other projects for the franchise. Well, I would say it "wrapped up," but by that I would mean it dropped the whole showcase right out the gate. All 48 minutes of it. Whoops. Anyway, from games to movies and miscellaneous, here's what the show brought us. The list isn't all too long, and at least one announcement was already known to be coming. But without further delay, here's the showcase in its entirety. Silent Hill 2 remake It was rumored that a Silent Hill 2 remake was on the way. Alongside said rumors, it was believed that the makers of Layers of Fear, Bloober Team, was involved in some way. Well, today we got both confirmed. A remake of Silent Hill 2 is indeed in development, and Bloober has taken the lead. The game is being built using Unreal Engine 5, and it looks just lovely. And creepy. Check out the trailer below: Silent... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, October 19, 2022 6:57 PM The video game adaptation in film and TV is seeing a renaissance, and we're actually getting good adaptations of video games for once. So it's with a hesitant glee that Return to Silent Hill, a sequel to the original Silent Hill film adaptation, was announced to be in development. The first Silent Hill movie isn't a travesty, so it's not like this announcement would have been offensive either way, but the development is exciting. That being said, the film was visually competent yet not fantastic, which makes some of the staffing announcements somewhat concerning. The first film's director, Christophe Gans, will return for the new sequel as the director. Return to Silent Hill will be a direct adaptation of Silent Hill 2, with producer Victor Hadida stating that the film will be "very true to the video game" and more of a "psychological horror." PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, October 19, 2022 6:16 PM Not content with just announcing a Silent Hill 2 remake, today's Silent Hill Transmission showed off a teaser trailer for another brand-new Silent Hill game. It's called Silent Hill Townfall, and it's being developed by Scottish developer No Code, which was behind the games Observation and Stories Untold. The game is being developed in partnership with Annapurna Interactive, so it definitely seems like it's in good hands. This is quite a pivot, as Konami's previous Silent Hill games that were handled by Western developers were typically less proven, resulting in games that led the publisher to shelve the franchise for years. Not much is known about Silent Hill Townfall, as the teaser trailer only shows an old portable television sitting on a desk. A voice speaks, asking why the listener is there and then specifying that it's likely for punishment. The screen shows brief flashes of bits of video including some hallways and a man's face. &n... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, October 19, 2022 5:45 PM It's been an extremely long wait, but Konami has finally announced a new game in the Silent Hill franchise. At the very end of today's Silent Hill Transmission, the game was revealed. It's called Silent Hill F and it got its first trailer today. The game is being developed by NeoBards Entertainment Ltd. That's not a name most will be familiar with, but the studio has worked in the background on multiple Resident Evil titles, including the two remakes and some ports. It also did work on Marvel's Avengers. The developer is based in Taiwan and this would appear to be its first solo game, if in fact it's handling full development duties. In addition to that information, the trailer lists Silent Hill F's character designer as "kera." Though there doesn't seem to be much of anything pointing as to who that is exactly. But the video does share that the story is being handled by Ryƫkishi07, the writer behind the classic visual no... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, October 19, 2022 5:30 PM Tabs in Windows' iconic File Explorer has been a highly-requested feature for years. Finally, Microsoft is making what was once a canned concept a functional reality. Jumping off from the recent major Windows 11 Update, new features are being patched into the OS, including the arrival of File Explorer tabs and other enhancements. Seeing that Windows is such a flexible OS, users have been able to add in extra features like tab support for years. Not everyone wants to go through the process of altering the OS files or finding external programs that offer similar functionality, though. With this update, great that tab support in File Explorer will now be a baked-in, native feature for all. A long time coming Multi-tasking in Windows 11 also received some improvements, with more layouts you can select by using the "Maximize" button. And the highly useful Snipping Tool (Win + Shift + S) has been upgraded to allow you to focus in on a specific part of the screen and ... |
