     Vampire Survivors weapon evolution guide

Want to know what all the Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions are? This roguelite indie game is rapidly gaining in popularity as players discover the sheer joy of walking around a forest or library, slaying an ever-growing encroaching horde of monsters that just want to be very close to you.

It's a relatively simple game, but mastering it and unlocking Vampire Survivors characters can get tricky if you don't spec into the correct build from the start. To evolve an item in Vampire Survivors, you must first level up a weapon to its maximum level, collect its linked item when it appears on the level-up screen, then kill an elite monster and open the chest it leaves behind. Unfortunately, you only have a few slots for weapons and items, so you must choose carefully.

The items that synergise well with a weapon aren't necessarily the items you need to evolve them, so while you'll want to pick up the Candelabrador if you have the Garlic weapon, you also need a Pummarola to power it up. If you don't have the new Grim Grimoire item to help you figure out which items you should keep on a run with the best Vampire Survivors characters, we've put together a list of all the possible Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions and which items you need to pick up to get the best Vampire Survivors builds.

How to unlock secret characters in Vampire Survivors

Want to know how to unlock secret characters in Vampire Survivors? When you start your first run you only have a handful of Vampire Survivors characters and a few weapons available. However, on each playthrough, more items, weapons, and characters unlock for you to use in future attempts. These items are vital if you wish to use Vampire Survivor weapon evolutions to maximise a weapon's damage output for the best Vampire Survivors build.

You can unlock secret Vampire Survivors characters by meeting requirements, such as leveling up your gear to a certain threshold, finding items in a level, or slaying a quota of monsters. Later on, you can also find Arcana to give your weapons unique bonuses to annihilate your foes.

Some of these unlock conditions are vague and confusing, so we thought we'd list how you can get all of the Vampire Survivors characters, weapons, items, and levels. We also have a cheat code that you need to type to get another hidden vampire slayer, steps to access other secret characters, and every unlock for the new Legacy of Moonspell DLC.

The best sandbox games on PC in 2022

The best sandbox games are difficult to nail down, as the sandbox style is spread across countless genres with disparate mechanics and settings. But all sandboxes share a common trait: freedom. Whether it's creating a whole world or building up a gang of criminals across a city, sandbox games leave most of the agency up to the player. They are universes to be experienced at a pace not dictated by developers.

There needs to be a bit of clarity when looking at what makes a great sandbox game, though. They have, since the days of Elite and Ultima, referred to open-world games filled with choice and diversions. But revisionist history would describe them as "games like Minecraft". For the purposes of this exploration of the best of the bunch, we're taking a look at them all. We support sandbox egalitarianism. So, from the mean streets of Los Santos through the ruthless missions of Agent 47 and the stunning expanse of Eve's universe, these are the very best sandbox games on PC.

GTA podium car: here's what vehicle you can win in GTA Online

What is the GTA podium car this week? GTA Online vehicles are expensive things, so we're happy to take a spin on the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel to get a discount. Winning isn't guaranteed, sure, but it isn't out of the question, either. Look, we don't have a problem - leave it alone.

Finding out what is the GTA podium car is simple enough - it's winning it that's the challenge. You can spin the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel once daily, and each Podium Car refreshes after seven days on a Thursday. Basically, you have seven shots to get the vehicle of that given week. If you own a Penthouse, you can spin it for free, but if you don't, it's $500 a spin. Don't fret if you don't win, as you can try for something else.

You have a one in 20 chance of getting the podium vehicle, a car discount, or a mystery prize. There's a four in 20 chance of getting clothes, chips, and cash. Finally, there's a five in 20 chance of getting RP. On that note, here's everything you need to know about this week's GTA podium car.

What better way to win back your community after the rocky launch of a new game than by providing a free "upgrade" to a beloved old game? I've no way of knowing if that's what Volition thought as they followed the poor reception of the Saints Row reboot by earlier this month "upgrading all copies" of Saints Row IV to Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, a version of the outlandish 2013 action game which includes all previously released DLC.

If it was what they thought, it hasn't worked. Players report that Re-Elected isn't an upgrade at all, but that it has broken their save games, their mods, and introduced new launch and crash bugs to the nine-year-old game.

City Hunter Netflix live-action

Netflix will adapt legendary manga series City Hunter as a live-action film. A story in the The Hollywood Reporter notes that the streaming giant has greenlit the project. Netflix's attempt will star Japanese actor Ryohei Suzuki and will be Directed by Yuichi Sato.

City Hunter was created by Tsukasa Hojo and ran in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump from 1985 to 1991. During that time it became a fixture of Japanese pop. It also achieved global notoriety, selling over 50 million copies outside Japan, and particularly in Europe and Asia. The series stars Ryo Saeba, a private detective who fights crime in Tokyo, when he's not chasing beautiful ladies. His agency, "City Hunter", works underground, and can only be contacted by writing certain letters on a special blackboard at Shinjuku Station.

City Hunter received anime adaptations throughout the 1980s, including TV series and theatrical films. Aniplex even produced a new anime film in 2019, City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes. The series was so popular overseas that it spawned its own set of foreign-grown adaptations. These included Hong Kong, Chinese, and French live-action film adaptations, and a Korean live-action TV series.

The Netflix project stars Ryohei Suzuki as Ryo Saeba. Suzuki played Hyugo in the live-action Moribito series, Ryu Nakanishi in the live-action Gatchaman film, and Takeo in a live-action My Love Story!!.

Here's a shot of Ryohei Suzuki in costume as Ryo.

Its Director, Yuichi Sato, helmed films like Black Gaisha, You, I LoveKisaragi, and The End of the Tiny World. Tatsuro Mishima, who worked on Netflix's Yu Yu Hakusho adaptation, wrote the screenplay. The film will be set in and around present-day Shinjuku, and will reportedly aim for a more "grounded" atmosphere in comparison to the more slapstick and silly anime and action-comedy adaptations.

The Netflix City Hunter live-action film is due out in 2024. Other Shonen Jump adaptations by Netflix include a live-action series based on One Piece and My Hero Academia.

The next one of the KOF Kotobukiya Bishoujo figures is Athena Asamiya, and the statue will appear in June 2023 in Japan.

Kotobukiya offered new details about the next addition to its Bishoujo figures line, and it involves launch details for the KOF 98 Athena Asamiya statue. It will show up in Japan in June 2023. It will be 16,000円 (~$116). Big Bad Toy Store is showing it could have it in July 2023 and is charging $129.99 for it.

This figure will be just under 9 inches tall. Her image is based on the Shunya Yamashita design. She's wearing her Kenpo-style outfit that also references her pop star look. Her hair is long for this look. The base is supposed to look like the deck of the China stage's boat.

Here's a closer look at the Bishoujo KOF 98 Athena Asamiya figure.
[gallery columns="6" size="full" ids="943744,943745,943746,943747,943749,943748" link="file"]

There were two other KOF Bishoujo figures before. Mai Shiranui showed up first. People can find her in storefronts worldwide now. There's still some time before Terry Bogard appears. This is the version based on the character's SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy appearance. It is expected to appear in April 2023 in Japan. The worldwide release will come sometime after that.

Kotobukiya's Bishoujo KOF 98 Athena Asamiya figure will come to Japan in June 2023. It seems like it will appear in North America in July 2023.

River City Girls 2

In its first hours, WayForward's River City Girls 2 feels a lot like a second River City Girls game. You're walking around River City as either Misako, Kyoko, or their boyfriends Kunio and Riki. You're beating down rowdy students, local toughs, and yakuza thugs. The characters reuse many of their combat animations. Even the graphics, already brilliant, got some extra visual flair thanks to some particle effects, but you wouldn't be able to tell which game is which from a random screenshot. Even the initial maps are similar, if not identical, in layout to the previous ones, often using the same background music at first.

Sure, there are narrative reasons for this kind of familiarity, but there's a sense that maybe a little bit too much is being "recycled" at first. If you're fresh off of River City Girls, you might feel like you just started a New Game Plus run instead of a sequel. Thankfully, the feeling doesn't last, and that slight suspicion is replaced by excitement.

River city girls 2

The initial burst of familiarity is WayForward's way of letting you plant your feet on solid ground, because when River City Girls 2 opens up, it does so like a flower in rapid bloom. It's easily twice the size of the original in hour count, a mammoth game in a genre known for almost criminally short runtimes.

As events start to escalate and the "RPG" part of this Brawler-RPG makes itself more evident, the scope of River City Girls 2 unfolds, revealing a much more detailed and realized rendition of River City. It's not an open-world title per se, but each of the eight playable zones of the city is comprised of at least a dozen distinct areas. All those areas, from your neighborhood in Crosstown to the heights of Sanwakai Tower, are teeming with enemies all eager to take a piece out of you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OrWkuUfHlk

Clearing an area of foes only gives you a temporary reprieve: Enemies respawn after a minute or two. The only relief from an unending tide of baddies is to either duck into one of dozens of shops, or to retreat to your hideout (there's one in every zone). The hideout is perhaps the biggest addition to River City Girls 2, as it changes the flow of the game from a long, rambling brawler into one more akin to a survival title.

Getting killed in-game gives you the option to respawn from the last screen transition, in exchange for some of your money. However, you can instead choose to spawn at your hideout for no penalty. Going home is often the smarter choice, especially in the early going. This lets you swap characters, pick healing items from your storage, and crucially, select your preferred assist characters.

River city girls 2

As before, you can recruit an enemy to use as a recharging special attack. River City Girls 2 deepens the system by giving each character space for two assists, and vastly expanding the selection of characters to recruit. Many of the enemies are palette-swaps, but a few use different attacks when summoned. For example, most "Female Yakuza" characters throw a pattern of knives when summoned, but the special Zombie Female Yakuza stabs an enemy and poisons them, making them useful against tough enemies and bosses. You'll want to collect them all, and go back home to pick your favorites.

Between the new shops, expanded areas, and quests that have you running all over town to gain access to the Sanwakai Crime Syndicate's toughest leaders, a session of River City Girls 2 feels more like planning an expedition than getting to the next "level". You'll still unlock new areas in a fairly linear progression, but the sense that you and the violent teens under your control are exploring - and saving - a whole city is vivid in the mind.

River City Girls 2

Well, it's not just teens. Marian Kelly, the formerly distressed damsel of the Double Dragon series, and Provie, the breakdancing fighter of River City Underground, are the new playable characters. Though you need to unlock them at first, they're definitely worth the hype. Even within the relatively simple structure of a brawler move list, Marian and Provie play distinctly differently from Misako, Kyoko, and the boys.

Marian is the biggest playable character in River City Girls 2, but feels like the fastest one in practice. Her boxing stance and animations give her shorter reach, but she compensates by closing quickly and having specials with a very long travel distance. With big jumps and powerful straight punches that send enemies flying across the screen, a capable Marian player jumps around the combat area, diving into scrums like Mirko from My Hero Academia had been translated into a 2D brawler template. Meanwhile, Provie uses smooth footwork and dance choreography to move around the battlefield while still seeming untouchable. The characters are so distinct I kind of wish WayForward had had them available from the start.

River City Girls 2

One other bonus is the fact that dialog changes depending on which character you're controlling and your selected "partner voice". This means you can experience the story of River City Girls 2 through Kunio and Riki, the River City Boys, with the tone and delivery of various lines changing appropriately. It's a great incentive for players to revisit the game and try out other characters, and underscores WayForward's excellent sense of humor and grasp of tone. Villains and NPCs alike get similar attention, with many, if not most of the shopkeepers being some reference to a deep cut from the history of Kunio-kun, Double Dragon, and arcade brawlers in general. You can even hire Abobo as an assist attack, and do side quests for Skullmageddon.

Of course, no game is perfect, and River City Girls 2 has its own issues. The sheer business of the 2D environments, complete with foreground objects, can make some combat areas difficult to read. I wish the experience-sharing between characters was a bit more generous, to make it feel less like a downgrade to switch characters deep into a run. Some of the side mission briefings are a bit too vague on instructions, leading to some frustrating flailing around until you cotton on to what the game wants you to do.

Abobo

Perhaps the biggest issue isn't really an issue with River City Girls 2, but more one with brawlers as a genre: Playing it solo is lonely. It's lonelier in this game particularly because all the characters are presumed to operate as at least a pair. The game supports online co-op, but I wasn't able to find any games to join, perhaps due to it being before release, or due to my location (you can select a matchmaking region to improve your chances).

Lacking a local buddy to play with, I noticed that a few of the mission challenges were more clearly tailored to having a second player to take some of the heat off. As a result, their challenges felt hectic rather than exciting. I highly recommend having a buddy to play the game through with, if you can. Brawlers are better with more (human) players in the mix. You can even turn on friendly fire, if you feel like straining a few friendships.

Double Dragon

In the end, though, those nitpicks are minor, and River City Girls 2 is an unequivocal improvement on its predecessor. It builds on the distinct atmosphere of River City Girls and greatly expands its horizons, without losing any of the charm of the original. I don't know if I'd agree with some of the characters when they claim "Sequels are always better," but I can say that this sequel definitely is.

River City Girls 2 is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This review is based on a PC copy of the game provided by the publisher.

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War

The ongoing anime series adapting Bleach's final story arc is due to end its first part soon. An announcement on social media confirmed that the first part of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War season 1 will close out on December 26, 2022. That day will see the last two episodes of the "season," 12 and 13, aired as a combined one-hour special. [Thanks, ANN!]

The series adapts the final story arc of Bleach, which was not covered before the first anime series was cancelled in 2012. The titular Thousand Year Blood War refers to the longstanding and largely hidden history of animosity between the Soul Reapers and Quincies. Ichigo's companion Uryuu Ishida long thought himself the last surviving Quincy, but a hidden kingdom called the Wandenreich survived in the shadows. Led by the Quincy King Ywach, the Wandenreich awakens, launching a devastating invasion of Soul Society and defeating many of its strongest protectors.

The current Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War season 1 episode, which aired on December 12, 2022, was titled "The Drop", after the 59th volume of the manga. It covered the duel between Gotei 13 Squad 11 Captain Kenpachi Zaraki and Squad 4 Captain Retsu Unohana. They fought to improve Kenpachi's fighting strength ahead of further battles against the Quincies of the Wandenreich.

The next episode of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War is episode 11, will air as scheduled on December 19, 2022. It's titled "Everything But The Rain," the same as the 60th volume of the Bleach manga. It's also the name of a story arc from the manga, one that focuses on an important and heretofore unknown incident involving Ichigo Kurosaki's parents.

The last episodes of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Part 1 will air on December 26, 2022, and the next "season" start date has yet to be announced. Four are planned in total. A DVD and Blu-ray collection of the season will launch in April 2023 in Japan.

Blue Protocol cross-play

Bandai Namco announced new details for Blue Protocol, the new online action-RPG. The release window for PC and console, payment model for the game, along with unannounced content and other updates were some of the topics talked about in the latest of their special programs, broadcasted December 15, 2022. The PC version of Blue Protocol is set to release early Spring 2023 in Japan, and cross-play is under consideration. However, in Japan console versions won't appear at launch. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will also be available in Japan, although the release date for these versions is yet to be determined. The PC version will be first to roll out during Spring 2023, following the Japan-only beta test in January 2023. Although Bandai Namco is still undecided about adding cross-play to Blue Protocol, the company said it showed an interest and desire in supporting it.

The game will be free-to-play, with micro transactions available. Because of this, there will be no physical versions available for purchase. Blue Protocol will be download only. The items sold as microtransactions will include items that enhance the player, ones shorten game time, and cosmetic items.

Many other additional features where detailed. There will be a fishing minigame. A camping feature will allow the player to recover HP and socialize in between exploring and fighting. A wandering gourmand will roam the field, giving buffs depending on the color of a player's clothing. Happy Nappos, rabbit-like creatures hidden in each zone, will offer achievements and other rewards as the player discovers them.

Beauty salons and dye shops allow the player to customize their character further. The player will be able to pet some of the animals in the game. A detailed photo mode has been included. A theater mode allows the player to watch previous cutscenes. The developers reworked a weapon enhancement system called the "Plug Installation", and added a guild-like feature called "Teams".

Blue Protocol is being developed by Bandai Namco, and will release in Japan for PC on Spring 2023. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions will come at a later date. The worldwide release will come in 2023 for all three platforms. There are post-release expansion plans as well.

Saga series games

According to leaks of an upcoming issue of FamitsuSaGa Series Director Akitoshi Kawazu teased more developments for the franchise ahead of its 35th anniversary in 2024. These developments include remasters of remaining older SaGa games, entirely new projects, and other hype-building announcements for the anniversary year. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

The leak comes from comments printed in a coming issue of Famitsu magazine. The comments come from Akitoshi Kawazu discussing the SaGa series' future. In them, he mentions that the number of SaGa titles left potentially needing a remaster is growing smaller. The shortlist for remasters would include Romancing SaGa 2, 2002's Unlimited SaGa, or the "First-Generation" SaGa games.

The first-generation SaGa series games are the Game Boy-based Makai Toushi SaGa, SaGa 2: Hihou Densetsu, and SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha. They were released in English as the three Final Fantasy Legend games. Meanwhile, Romancing SaGa 2 technically got a remaster on modern platforms in 2017. Unlimited SaGa has not received any remasters as of yet, and was last available on the PS2.

Besides remasters, Kawazu hinted that other unannounced SaGa series projects are in the pipeline. The series will celebrate its 35th anniversary in late 2024, so Kawazu wants to "make things exciting" for fans. He said he "wants to have something new to talk about every month". With nearly two years between now and the actual 35th anniversary, there could be time for more announcements or solid plans.

The latest SaGa-related release is Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered, which came out on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices on December 1, 2022.

fire emblem engage rosado

Nintendo has introduced Rosado, who will be a Dragon Knight character in Fire Emblem Engage. Shouta Aoi will voice the character. Rosado is a retainer of Hortensia, so it is unclear how they could come to spend time with Alear.

https://twitter.com/FireEmblemJP/status/1603291361725202432

Rosado is a soldier from Elusia. They are an optimist who pursues cuteness and beauty. When Nintendo released a relationship chart, it showed that Elusia might be allies with the Four Hounds, who want to revive the Fell Dragon. Hortensia and Ivy of Elusia also want to steal Alear's Rings from him. Incidentally, Rosado is a retainer and friend of Hortensia's. So it is unclear as of now how the player will come to have Rosado in their army. As a Dragon Knight, they have powerful stats and can fly, but they are weak to magic and bows.

Here is a clip of Rosado conversing with Hortensia:

https://twitter.com/FireEmblemJP/status/1603291973984534528

In it, Rosado drew a portrait of Hortensia, but Hortensia demands that they re-draw it because she wasn't making a cool expression. Rosado seems dissatisfied, since they thought Hortensia's face was already cute. It appears that Rosado has a talent for sketching other people quickly.

Shouta Aoi, who voices Rosado, is a voice actor and singer. His more well-known roles include Ai Mikaze from the Uta no Prince-sama series, Rui Minazuki from the Tsukiuta series, and Licht von Glanzreich from The Royal Tutor.

Fire Emblem Engage is in development and will come out on the Nintendo Switch on January 20, 2023. You can pre-order it from the eShop.

Guilty Gear Strive PS4, PS5, and PC Cross-Play Added in Patch

There's a new Guilty Gear Strive patch, and the update adds the much-requested PS4, PS5, and PC cross-play compatibility. In addition to that, the addition also includes some other major features. People can now mute or report players, and there's a blocking change. Arc System Works explained how both function in the latest patch notes.

With Guilty Gear Strive cross-play, people on a PS4, PS5, or PC can play together if they turn the option on. Rank Tower and Open Park will support it. People can also select cross-play when creating or searching for a Player Match. When you go into Combo Maker, Digital Figure, Ranking, and Replay, you can also see cross-platform results if you want. If someone isn't interested, they should go into System Settings after downloading the update. It starts off as on.

As for the mute and report options, after the Guilty Gear Strive patch is applied you can find it in an R-Code. Muting is a temporary action that is undone after the game is closed. It will show their ID or "GG Player" as a name, you won't see them in chat bubbles, and you won't be able to see their Digital Figure or Replays. The blocking update also keeps those things from being seen, but is a permanent action. With the report option, Arc System Works will look at that player's actions and could suspend them.

Guilty Gear Strive is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, as is the new patch Ver. 1.24. Sin Kiske is coming as DLC.

Fire Emblem Engage Somniel Trailer Shows Off Your Hub and Activities

There's a new Fire Emblem Engage trailer, and this one focuses on the Somniel hub. This is a floating castle area people can visit and explore between battles. Once there, someone can interact with other characters and prepare. The video focuses on some of the activities. It also shows off possible Fire Emblem Engage romance elements.

The video begins with a preparing for battle segment. Someone can visit the plaza for shopping. There's an armory for equipment and item shop for things like torches or vulneraries.

There is also a Ring Chamber, where you can see the Emblem Rings. This lets you create bond rings, meld them, polish them, inherit skills, or engage weapons. The skills are ones you inherit from the bonds to make characters smarter. You can create multiple rings there.

It is possible to fight in the Somniel in Fire Emblem Engage too, as two places are shown for those elements in the trailer. An Arena can be visited to take part in standard or Emblem practice battles. Experience can be earned here. Tower of Trials involves battles for in-game rewards or custom battle maps you create and share with others.

At the 2:47 mark in the trailer, the possible Fire Emblem Engage romance elements come up. People can show up in Somniel to relax. People can talk outside of battle. Cafe Terrace can be visited to eat with people after having a meal made. It is also possible to give gifts to form bonds.

The trailer ends with relaxing elements. Fishing will be present. You can have animals in your farmyard. Sommie is there as a pet, who can be fed or… pet. You can also equip accessories and items.

Here is the full Fire Emblem Engage Somniel trailer.

Tomb Raider Amazon Lara Croft ChokeholdBack in May, Embracer Group acquired three gaming studios formerly owned by Square Enix, including Crystal Dynamics. Shortly after this purchase, Embracer expressed an interest in releasing sequels and remakes for the IPs that these acquired studios developed. This naturally includes Tomb Raider, the classic series that came back in full force in the 2010s thanks to Crystal Dynamics' critically acclaimed reboot trilogy.
