John Romero made a new Doom 2 level – it's €5 and supports Ukraine

John Romero is one of PC gaming's most legendary figures, and he's out here continuing to create new levels for his most famous works. Sigil released in 2019 as a free, unofficial fifth episode for the original Doom, and now Romero has released a new, paid Doom II level supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

The level is called One Humanity, and it's available for €5.00 (about $5.80 USD) on Romero's website. Every penny, as Romero explains on Twitter, goes to the Red Cross and the UN Central Emergency Response Fund. You'll need to make use of a modern Source port of Doom II in order to play the .WAD file.

Plenty of game industry figures have been using their reach to help support charity efforts in Ukraine. A group of indie devs are building a massive charity bundle to support the International Medical Corps and Voices of Children. The developers behind anti-war game This War of Mine pledged recent proceeds from the game to support the Ukrainian Red Cross. The Truck Simulator devs are building a DLC pack to support charity, too.

LoL champs Rengar and Zeri are seeing big changes in patch 12.6

LoL patch 12.6 may have just hit the PBE, but it's already looking like good news for Rengar and bad news for Zeri. League of Legends designers Phlox and August have been sharing some upcoming changes for the duo on Twitter, along with a wee bit of decision rationale.

Buffing Rengar has proven difficult, Phlox explains, as the assassin has some "pretty awkward mechanics", especially with his W and Passive. "I think W not flowing into any assassination combo is a definite feels bad for a lot of his builds," the developer says. "Same with the weird ear flicks around ferocity generation. It's very unforgiving and makes him very bush reliant (some of which is a good thing). I think for both of these mechanics there's a better version out there, but they're not easy to get to and the cost is high."

Some of the biggest tweaks are coming to Rengar's Unseen Predator move. Now, the juggler will generate one ferocity when he leaps while empty on the resource. Ferocity falloff, bone tooth forgiveness timer, and jump height have increased. Bola Strike also reveals enemies for two seconds when you land now.

Seven cool indie PC games hitting Steam in March

This time last month we were being overwhelmed by a deluge of shiny new triple-A games. The downpour has petered out to a drizzle, just in time for us to dash outside for a peep at March's indie offerings. We felt younger back at the start of February, we couldn't see beyond the mighty, looming shadow of Elden Ring (check out the review here), and we certainly weren't expecting it to be one of the best PC games of all time. Its release has left us in a bit of a daze, and what better way to recover from that comedown than with more games?

So, we've assembled a list of some of the best indie games coming out this month to make sure you've got smaller experiences to supplement your 100-hour playthrough of Elden Ring and the forthcoming Tiny Tina's Wonderland. It's going to be a challenge to squeeze it all in, but we believe in you. Tell yourself it's really good for your productivity or something. That may or may not be what we do.

This month's indie supercut consists of co-op dungeon crawlers, tactical RPG games, non-Euclidean puzzlers, games like Pokémon, and many more. There's something here to suit any palate, we reckon.

Destiny 2 Vow of the Disciple start time confirmed

Destiny 2's latest expansion, The Witch Queen, is upon us, and by most accounts it's a great one. Now that players have had time to settle in and grind out their power level, however, it's time for the ultimate challenge: the raid. We've known the details on the Vow of the Disciple start time for a good bit now, but if you want to count down to the beginning of the World First race, here's what you need to know.

The Vow of the Disciple World First raid race kicks off on Saturday, March 5 at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm GMT. For the first 24 hours, you can expect Contest Mode to be enabled - meaning teams will have their power level capped at 20 below each encounter, to help keep the race fair. You'll need to reach power level 1530 to have a chance.

For now, you've got a bit of an advantage in raising your power level, as Deep Stone Crypt currently drops some much more powerful loot than it's supposed to. Bungie's aware of the issue and intends to fix it some time after the race, but has effectively told players to enjoy the extra drops while they last.

Get 35% off Razer gaming keyboards and more, plus a free gift

It's a good day to be a gamer, because not only does the current Razer sale include a number of discounts (as high as 35% off), but if you plan on stocking up on gaming supplies while they're on offer, you'll be rewarded with some exclusive Razer gifts, all you need to do is enter the offer codes listed below.

Razer is, of course, well respected as one of the best manufacturers of PC gaming accessories in the business. We could gush about any one of the products that are currently available in the sale, but there's one in particular that we'd like to focus on and that's the Razer BlackWidow Elite gaming keyboard.

When Razer designed the BlackWidow, it sought to create the most complete mechanical gaming keyboard on the market. With a mechanical switch and a multi-function digital dial, Razer really brought things up to the next level with this one. You can turn every one of its keys into a macro key, its ergonomic wrist rest will keep you comfy during long play sessions, and its durable design means that it should withstand 80 million keystrokes without issue.

     Babylon's Fall system requirements

Now that Babylon's Fall system requirements are available, those anticipating its arrival can prepare their gaming PCs before the game's release. Set to be the next big RPG from Square Enix, the FFXIV creator is teaming up with Platinum Games to craft this new co-op adventure. However, you might need to swap out your current graphics card with a newer Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU to get the most out of the game when it arrives in March.

Just like its modern Final Fantasy counterparts, Babylon's Fall is visual eye candy. Square Enix says you'll need something on par with Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1650 GPU just to run the game, which suggests the RPG is gutsy when it comes to graphics card requirements. Sadly, if you want to experience the game at its best, you're going to need to get your hands on an RTX 3060, something that's no mean feat amid ongoing component shortages.

Before you get too disheartened, many of the best gaming laptops now wield discrete RTX 3060 graphics cards, and they're easier to get a hold of than desktop GPUs. Also, even if you've got an older RTX 2000 series card, exclusive features like Nvidia DLSS could enhance your experience if support is added down the line. Nevertheless, you'll still want to check your rig's CPU, RAM, and SSD storage against the rest of Square Enix's Babylon's Fall system requirements.

Protect your gaming PC with 82% off two years of Atlas VPN

Many of us are guilty of not properly taking care of our internet privacy. "Yeah, I'll get a VPN one day" we say to ourselves, meanwhile we go years and years without protecting our privacy on the internet. Well, today's the day you could make a change - with 82% off Atlas VPN's thwo-year plan, now seems like the ideal time to get yourself protected.

Atlas VPN is compatible with several devices and even 4K streaming services, making it ideal for gaming PCs, streaming, and more. Not only can this help to keep you safe from cybercriminals while you game or watch your favourite shows, but it can also give you access to content that would normally be exclusive to specific regions. This can be awesome when it comes to accessing restricted content on platforms like Netflix, or when finding content for online games that would normally be locked off for you.

With 750 servers available from 35 countries around the world, and support for an unlimited number of simultaneous connections, it's a nifty little VPN service. On top of that it also gives you access to the Atlas VPN ad blocker, extra email protection, and, of course, its 24/7 customer support team, who'll be on hand to help in the event that you should encounter any difficulties.

Steam Deck 2 – release date, price, specs, and performance

Valve may have already released "the best handheld around" as we coined it in our Steam Deck review, but the company is already hard at work putting together Steam Deck 2. This isn't too surprising given how many people are clearly interested in the Deck, with the amount of reservations already pushing the expected availability of the device all the way back to 'after Q2' of this year. Time will tell, however, how much of an upgrade it will offer and whether it can stand up to competitors like the Ayaneo Next.

Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve, nonchalantly confirmed the existence of Steam Deck 2 in an interview with Edge magazine, saying that the release of the company's handheld gaming PC would "help frame our thinking for Deck 2." Newell elaborated that the design of a new Deck would concern itself with capitalizing on "the capabilities that mobile gives us, above and beyond what you would get in a traditional desk or laptop gaming environment."

Unfortunately, Valve is keeping the finer details of what it's cooking up in its Washington offices under strict lock and key. However, we do have some ideas of what to expect from the Steam Deck 2's specs compared to the company's current portable powerhouse.

The next Epic free game is the modern king of city builders

City-building games have been a mainstay of PC gaming since the first SimCity launched way back in 1989, but the current king of the genre is, without a doubt, Cities: Skylines. If you haven't yet tried out Colossal Order's serene city-builder, you're in luck: it'll be Epic's free game of the week starting March 10.

This week, of course, you can pick up the rebooted arcade classics Centipede: Recharged and Black Widow: Recharged - as well as an Epic Slayer Kit for free-to-play monster hunting game Dauntless. Starting March 10 at 8am PST / 11am EST / 4pm GMT, the free game will change over to Cities: Skylines, which normally sells for $29.99 or your regional equivalent. You should definitely grab a copy if you don't already own it, because Cities: Skylines has turned into an expansive and expressive city builder that's managed to eclipse SimCity as the standard-bearer for the genre.

Once you've got the base game in hand, there's plenty of add-on DLC to consider picking up. The most recent is the new Airports expansion, which - in addition to allowing you to build and manage an airline from your city - also adds new forms of ground transportation like high-speed light rail and high-capacity buses.

Destiny 2: what is the Legendary Lost Sector today?

Are you looking for the Legend or Master Lost Sector locations in Destiny 2? While many Destiny 2 Exotics can be bought from Xûr or even in the world loot pool, the Exotics in these special Lost Sector instances cannot, forcing players to explore these dangerous areas if they want the best equipment available. To make matters worse, you have to complete them on your own to get a chance at the best rewards.

Before you can take on Legend Lost Sectors, you need to complete all the normal Lost Sectors first. If you don't, the new Legend Lost Sectors will not appear on the map. Each day, the location, modifiers, and rewards rotate out for something new. As of Season of the Risen, the Legend and Master Lost Sector quests both take place in the same location. The location for the Legend and Master Lost Sector quests appear with the daily reset at 5pm UTC.

It's important to remember that Exotic drops are not guaranteed after completing these quests, so you may have to run through the same Lost Sector multiple times. You can go through them quests with a fireteam, but your rewards will be reduced to Enhancement Cores only.

Elden Ring Talisman list, locations, and pouches

Looking for info on Elden Ring Talismans? Talismans are Elden Ring's version of rings from the Souls games. Each Talisman bestows a passive buff, with effects ranging from general boons like faster stamina regen to increased damage for the final attack in a twinblade combo.

An array of different Talismans can be found in Elden Ring's vast open world; you can find some in treasure chests in Elden Ring dungeons, some drop as loot from enemies and bosses, and others can be bought from merchants. As you progress to more challenging areas, you will encounter upgraded versions of Talismans with increased effects. You can expand the number of Talismans you can equip at the same time using Talisman Pouches.

Though their utility will vary based on your Elden Ring class and playstyle, Talismans provide a much needed helping hand when it comes to taking on Elden Ring bosses. To help you formulate your strategy, we've put together an Elden Ring Talisman list containing each Talisman's effects and location. We haven't found them all yet, so this list is incomplete, but we'll add to it as we learn more.

CD Projekt is halting sales in Russia and Belarus

The company behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 is halting sales in Russia and Belarus. Not only does the suspension of digital sales and physical stock apply to its products, but all of the games that are distributed on its online storefront GOG, too.

"The entire CD Projekt Group stands firm with the people of Ukraine," the statement reads. "While we are not a political entity capable of directly influencing state matters, and don't aspire to be one, we do believe that commercial entities, when united, have the power to inspire global change in the hearts and minds of ordinary people.

"We know that players in Russia and Belarus, individuals who have nothing to do with the invasion of Ukraine, will be impacted by this decision, but with this action we wish to further galvanise the global community to speak about what is going on in the heart of Europe. To our brothers and sisters fighting for their home country - stay strong!"

     Elden Ring bosses guide

Want to know how to beat the Elden Ring bosses? The most defining moments in any of the best Soulslike games are the tough boss fights. They can be tricky for several reasons: some are hard to hit consistently, others can squash you with just one attack. Elden Ring is also an open-world game, so as you'd expect, there are plenty of formidable foes with big health bars waiting to be discovered.

So far, we've managed to find out which bosses are in several regions. Since any region can have up to 19 bosses, keeping track of which ones you've beaten can be tough.

In this guide, you'll find a list of all of the Elden Ring bosses we know of so far, where you can find them, which ones are mandatory, and what items they drop when you beat them. It's worth noting that, generally speaking, as you hunt them down, dungeon bosses are not as hard to kill as the major bosses. However, there are exceptions, so upgrading the Flash of Wondrous Physick with Elden Ring crystal tears can make all the difference.

Meta's starting to devour the Oculus Quest 2

The Oculus Quest 2 is now officially known as the Meta Quest, but remnants of the retired brand are still tethered to the VR headset. While giving existing stock a physical Meta makeover is impractical, the company is reportedly replacing the device's Oculus boot screen logo as part of its metaverse rebranding efforts.

Spotted by UploadVR, the subtle change will arrive alongside system software version 38, and it'll switch out Oculus' iconic oval emblem with Meta's weird-shaped infinity symbol. As with all Oculus Quest 2 updates, the rollout will take place over the next couple of months, meaning the device's digital branding won't be instantly consigned to history.

Longstanding fans of Oculus may be in for a downbeat surprise next time they don their virtual reality goggles, but the decisive update hammers home the fact that the VR brand is no more. Sure, if you buy a Quest 2 right now, it'll still feature the old moniker, but a recent Superbowl ad suggests that future production runs will arrive bearing Meta's new markings.

The best Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build

Searching for the best Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build? Also known as Raiden Ei or Baal (depending on the circumstances), she is the main villain in the Inazuma storyline and recently joined the ever growing roster of new Genshin Impact characters. The Archon has proven very popular since she was introduced, and now we know there will be a Raiden Shogun rerun banner in the second half of Genshin Impact 2.5, alongside a Kokomi rerun banner.

We've put together his handy guide to bring you all of the up-to-date information on what the best Raiden Shogun build is. Make sure to grab all of Raiden Shogun's ascension materials as well as you plan for her abilities. Though she wields a sword in most of the game's cutscenes, Raiden is actually an Electro polearm user, pulling out her sword via her elemental burst. While you can easily funnel a team into supporting Raiden Shogun as the main DPS, she can also act as a very good support herself for other high-damage characters as Raiden's abilities still cause problems for enemies without her needing to be centre stage.

Here's everything we know about the best Raiden Shogun build, including weapons, artifacts, team composition, and even some advice for F2P players.

The best Genshin Impact Kokomi build for 2.5

Want to know what the best Genshin Impact Kokomi build is? Sangonomiya Kokomi will be running alongside Raiden Shogen as part of an upcoming Genshin Impact banner, in the second half of the 2.5 update, so she is in the spotlight once more. While you're busy collecting Kokomi's ascension materials, you may also want help deciding how best to kit her out.

The five-star Hydro catalyst wielder is the leader of the Sangonomiya Resistance and resides on Watatsumi, one of the Inazuma islands introduced in Genshin Impact 2.1. She shares many similarities with Barbara, and is often used as a support character, but there's room for Kokomi to be more than a healer. Kokomi's abilities may surprise people with her potential for elemental skill damage, which scales based on her max health.

She's currently A tier in our Genshin Impact tier list - we think she's highly valuable in the right party. The recent introduction of bleed monsters didn't have the game-changing effect people thought it might, but that doesn't mean healers aren't useful. Read on for our thoughts on the best Kokomi builds.

The number of Windows 11 gaming PCs and laptops is growing

Microsoft hasn't had the easiest time pushing Windows 11 over the past five months, but it appears that many are flocking to adopt the latest iteration of the operating system despite its confusing system requirements and various launch issues. In fact, it might soon be the fastest adopted version of Windows ever following a new report.

According to AdDuplex (via Tech Advisor), nearly 20% of all Windows devices are now running Windows 11. This is undoubtedly impressive, but it's worth noting that the company's sample data comes from "around 5,000 Windows Store apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2 (and higher)", which while presumably large isn't definitive.

This is, however, another indication that Windows 11 is proving popular across all types of users, including those with gaming PCs. The January 2022 Steam hardware survey reported that 14% of Steam's player base were running the application on a Windows 11 device, whether that be a desktop system or gaming laptop.

GTA podium car: here's what vehicle you can win in GTA Online

What is the GTA 5 podium car this week? GTA Online vehicles are expensive things, so we're happy to take a spin on the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel to get a discount. Winning isn't guaranteed, sure, but it isn't out of the question either. Look, we don't have a problem - leave it alone.

You can spin the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel once a day, and each Podium Car refreshes after seven days on a Thursday. Basically, you have seven shots to get the vehicle of that given week. If you own a Penthouse, you can spin it for free, but if you don't it's $500 a spin. Don't fret if you don't win, though, as you can win something else. You have a one in 20 chance of getting the podium vehicle, a car discount, or a mystery prize. There's a four in 20 chance of getting clothes, chips, and cash. Finally, there's a five in 20 chance of getting RP.

Keeping tabs on the GTA Online podium car can be a bother, though, so we're going to keep this GTA 5 guide updated so you have somewhere to check back on. On that note, here's the GTA 5 podium car for this week.

GTA Prize Ride challenge – what is the Prize Ride this week?

The GTA Online Los Santos Tuners update introduced plenty of new content, all focused on the city's underground tuner scene. There's a new 'social space', called the LS Car Meet, where you can show off your souped-up cars, race with fellow gearheads, and take on jobs - here's how to join the LS Car Meet in the Los Santos Tuners update.

Throughout your time spent in the Car Meet, you can level up your reputation and unlock new benefits as you progress. There's also a huge Test Track inside the warehouse, where you can try out Test Rides - a great opportunity to take different vehicles for a spin.

Becoming an LS Car Meet member sets you back $50,000 in-game bucks, but it grants you access to a bunch of underground shops - the Merch Shop, Tattoo Shop, and a Modding Area where you can tweak your car in real time. At higher levels, you can create your own customised area in the Car Meet, called a Private Takeover. LS Car Meet members can also compete in Prize Ride challenges, in order to be in with a chance to win a Prize Ride.

Full disclosure: this episode of the Electronic Wireless Show podcast was initialy going to be called the best menial jobs in games special, but half way through we decided we didn't like the term, and also that it was limiting the scope of the episode, so we changed it to regular jobs. Basically we're talking about when you do normal work in games that isn't hero-slaying-monster type stuff, you know?

A really bumper number of digressions this week, though. The train really gets derailed early as we start talking about Elden Ring, and thus, naturally, what bit of Matthew a king would steal for said king's own body? (The answer is Matthew's nice soft hair). We hear more about Nate's orc/goblin dolls house too, of course, and at certain points in the podcast do manage to drag things back round to talking about the actual topic of the podcast. Plus, Nate has a Cavern Of Lies this week which is themed about, er, Nate.

The Ziggurat is an imposing presence in the lakeside hub town of Babylon's Fall, its broad, horizon-spanning arches giving away nothing about the kind of fantastical beasts and secrets you'll find inside. Based on the Tower Of Babel, the mythological birthplace of all the world's languages, it's perhaps ironic that Square Enix and PlatinumGames' latest hack and slash started life with its own kind of miscommunication. When it was first unveiled at E3 2018, it looked like PlatinumGames were doubling down on all the good stuff they'd delivered just a year earlier with Nier: Automata, giving us another high-octane, single player action game with a dizzying array of weapons and over the top soundtrack, all wrapped up in an enticing layer of gothic high fantasy as players fight their way skyward.

A long silence then followed, release dates slipped again and again, and its single follow-up trailer during one of Sony's 2019 State Of Play broadcasts remained as inscrutable as its iconic Ziggurat. It wasn't until E3 2021 that the game's true nature was finally revealed. Rather than being a solo adventure, Platinum and Square declared that not only would Babylon's Fall be a primarily online multiplayer game, but that it was also going to be a live service game in the vein of Destiny and The Division. It was surprising, to say the least, but when I put the question to the PlatinumGames and Square Enix's joint development team, Square Enix producer Junichi Ehara tells me that this was far from a sudden change of heart on their part: "From the very start of the project, it was decided that Babylon's Fall would include the elements of high fantasy, hack-and-slash, and live service."

Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun and Kokomi Rerun Banners Detailed

The Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun and Kokomi Sangonomiya rerun banners are about to return on March 8, 2022. Ahead of their debut, miHoYo went over all of the focus four stars that will join the two five stars on their banners. It also detailed the featured weapons that will show up in the corresponding Epitome Invocation.

Both of the character banners should look familiar. That's because aside from the different five-star, the four-star focus units are identical. Both the Raiden Shogun and Kokomi rerun banners will include Bennett, Sara Kujou, and Xinyan. Both Bennett and Xinyan are Pyro characters, with him using a sword and her a claymore. Sara is an Electro archer. As a reminder, Raiden Shogun is a five-star Electro character who uses a polearm. Kokomi is a five-star Hydro character that wields a catalyst.

As for the weapons banner, its two featured five-star weapons are both made with Raiden Shogun and Kokomi in mind. They are the Engulfing Lightning polearm and Everlasting Moonglow catalyst. The four-star weapons on that banner are the Akuoumaru claymore, Favonius Lance polearm, Lion's Roar sword, Mouun's Moon bow, and Sacrificial Fragments catalyst.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. A Nintendo Switch version is in development. The Yae Miko banner is currently available in-game. The Raiden Shogun and Kokomi rerun banners will return to Genshin Impact on March 8, 2022. Those will run until March 29, 2022.

Pokemon Company International Makes Donation to Charity for Ukraine

The Pokemon Company International announced it is making a charitable donation to help people in the Ukraine. It offered an official statement pledging $200,000. That money ended up donated via GlobalGiving. However, it didn't specify which project will be given the money.

Here is The Pokemon Company International's full statement regarding its donation on behalf of the Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

Genshin Impact Funko Pop Figures Announced

New Genshin Impact Funko Pop figures are on the way. The company announced that there will be three available at the start. The male and female versions of the player avatar, Aether and Lumine, and Paimon will be a part of the initial run. There's no release window yet, though the company said they will appear sometime in 2022. Each one will cost $12. They will also all be just under five inches tall.

Aether and Lumine are both wearing their traditional attire for their figures. Each one is also armed with a sword. For those unfamiliar, in-game players choose one of the twins as their avatar. The other then appears in-game as an NPC. Aether is number 160, while Lumine will be number 161.

The two will be joined by Paimon, who is the game's mascot. As the main character is a silent protagonist, she often serves as their voice in-game. She's designed to look like she is floating.

Quite a few Genshin Impact figures appeared from multiple companies. For example, both Good Smile Company and Kotobukiya are working on some.

Genshin Impact is available on the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. It will also come to the Nintendo Switch. There's no release date for the Genshin Impact Funko Pop figures yet, and the official website only noted they are "coming soon."

Neptunia x Senran Kagura PC Version Will Release on Steam in May

We now know when the heroines from the Neptunia and Senran Kagura series will meet on a new platform. Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars will come to the PC via Steam on May 11, 2022. The product page is already live. This announcement follows a January and February 2022 closed beta test.

As a reminder, Neptunia x Senran Kagura is set in an entirely alternate reality. The console goddesses like Neptune, Noir, Blanc, and Vert are now Compa ninjas in Heartland. When the game begins, they are feuding with the Honeypa shinobi from Marveland. (That is where the Senran Kagura characters Asuka, Homura, Yumi, and Miyabi are from.) However, when the Steeme Legion invades, they come together to defeat them.

This wasn't the only Neptunia x Senran Kagura news to come up. There's also a new trailer out. It shows how the game runs on the Nintendo Switch. That version of the game will appear a month before the PC debut.

Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars will come to the PC via Steam on May 11, 2022. It is immediately available on the PS4. The Nintendo Switch version of the game will appear on April 19, 2022 in North America and April 22, 2022 in Europe.

People can now change the sort of relationship they'll see in game Haven, as a new Couples update is available. This offers the option to switch to same-sex relationships in-game. It is a free update for every platform.

This Haven update means new character designs, some script changes, and additional voice actors appear in the game. The Game Bakers Creative Director Emeric Thoa talked about the update on the PlayStation Blog. In it, Thoa noted, "…For technical reasons, we had to keep the same body size, hairstyle, and body shape." However, the new concept art for both of the characters was shared.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Demo Debuts

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is heading to the Nintendo Switch later in March 2022, but a demo is already available. It gives people a chance to try the open-world Kirby game ahead of launch. To go along with that, there's also a new trailer. The video is a more lengthy look at things people can do and see in the adventure.

Here's the newest Kirby and the Forgotten Land overview. It begins with a look at his abilities. There are also some peeks at a few bosses. After that, it explains what's going on. It shows how Kirby ended up pulled into another world via a portal. Once there, he'll fight enemies and rescue Waddle Dees.

This means that people can test out some of Kirby and the Forgotten Land's new features immediately. The new game announced new abilities for the hero. Among them is Mouthful Mode. When used, Kirby can inhale machines to take advantage of their skills. For example, sucking up a car allows him to drive around. Should he do so with a lightbulb, he'll be able to light up dark areas.

GOG and CD Projekt Red Game Sales Stop in Russia, Belarus(1)

As a result of Russia's invasion of the Ukraine and Belarus' contributions to that effort, CD Projekt Red announced it will no longer sell its own games or any games via its GOG platform in both countries. Its statement noted that it began efforts to halt sales. It also noted its support for Ukraine and its people. As a reminder, CD Projekt Red is a Polish company from Warsaw.

Here is CD Projekt Red's full statement regarding its game sales for its own and GOG titles in Russia and Belarus.

In light of the Russian military invasion in our neighboring country of Ukraine, until further notice the CD Projekt Group has made the decision to halt all sales of our games to Russia and Belarus. Today, we begin working with our partners to suspend digital sales and cease physical stock deliveries of CD Projekt Group products, as well as all games distributed on the GOG platform, to the territories of Russia and Belarus.

The entire CD Projekt Group stands firm with the people of Ukraine. While we are not a political entity capable of directly influencing state matters, and don't aspire to be one, we do believe that commercial entities, when united, have the power to inspire global change in the hearts and minds of ordinary people. We know that players in Russia and Belarus, individuals who have nothing to do with the invasion of Ukraine, will be impacted by this decision, but with this action we wish to further galvanize the global community to speak about what is going on in the heart of Europe.

To our brothers and sisters fighting for their home country — stay strong!

This is the second motion of support from CD Projekt Red in regards to the war. On February 25, 2022, the company pledged to donate a million złoty to Polska Akcja Humanitarna to support people in Ukraine.

CD Projekt Red's most recent game is Cyberpunk 2077, which is available for the PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Total Xbox Console Sales Across All Generations in Japan Are 2.3 Million - 360, One, Series X S

Microsoft always faced an uphill battle with selling Xbox consoles in Japan. Now, we have more information on just how steep that hill is. According to data shared in the most recent issue of Famitsu, total Xbox sales across all console generations in Japan add up to 2,345,975 units as of February 6, 2022. Most of these sales were for the Xbox 360. [Thanks, VGC.]

Here are total lifetime Xbox console sales across all generations in Japan as of February 6, 2022:

  • Xbox – 472,992
  • Xbox 360 – 1,616,128
  • Xbox One – 114,831
  • Xbox Series X|S – 142,024

For reference, more than 5 million units of Nintendo Switch hardware have been sold in Japan to date. Even Sony sold more than a million PS5s in Japan since its launch in November 2020. Xbox leaves a significantly smaller cultural footprint by comparison.

Famitsu further revealed the top five highest-selling games on Xbox consoles. Four of them are role-playing games for Xbox 360, but the top spot is reserved for Dead or Alive 3 on the original Xbox. Dead or Alive 3 from Tomonobu Itagaki and Team Ninja sold 271,149 units. That means 57% of all Xbox owners in Japan owned this game.

Here are the total sales for the highest-selling games on Xbox consoles in Japan to date:

  1. Dead or Alive 3 (Xbox) – 271,149
  2. Star Ocean: The Last Hope (Xbox 360) – 208,521
  3. Tales of Vesperia (Xbox 360) – 204,305
  4. Blue Dragon (Xbox 360) – 203,740
  5. The Last Remnant (Xbox 360) – 154,493

The Xbox Series X and S got off to a stronger start in Japan than Xbox One ever had. 102,591 of them were sold in the first year it launched there.

Elden Ring Sales

According to a report from Famitsu, PS4 and PS5 sales of Elden Ring in Japan have topped 278,507 units. It secured both first and second place for most sales for the week of February 12-27, 2022. [Thanks, Famitsu and Nibel!]

However, FromSoftware has yet to release a statement sharing total sales for the game worldwide. Additionally, this report only accounts for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 copies. It does not include sales of Elden Ring on other platforms.

While highly anticipated, Elden Ring did not arrive without its fair share of bugs
Bandai Namco rolled out several patches, which resolved some issues for users. Patch 1.02.2 included a change to save progression on the PlayStation 5. This has made it so Elden Ring will keep someone's progress even when the game is not properly terminated. This move was made to potentially resolve an issue in which users would lose data to crashes that would happen mid-game. Crashes would include the PlayStation 5 console turning itself off.

Patch 1.0.2 was rolled out ahead of the official release of the game. This patch was meant to solve issues regarding frame drops and certain NPC events.

Elden Ring is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. You can read our review of the PC version, which includes PlayStation 5 impressions.

Cd Projekt UkraineMany countries around the world right now are watching and witnessing history as it happens. The current invasion of Ukraine by Russia has not only disrupted the global oil market but video games as well. Publisher and development teams like Bloober Team and CD Projekt Red join others in response to the current violence in Ukraine. In this case, CD Projekt Red and Bloober announced they will halt sales in Russia and Belarus for the foreseeable future. In a statement released on CD Projekt Red's Twitter feed, the company acknowledged that this may indeed impact those who are not in any way directly involved in the fighting. It reads, "We know that players in Russia and Belarus, individuals that have nothing to do with the invasion of Ukraine, will be impacted by this decision."   It seems the hope is that cutting off sales to this portion of the world will leave citizens of the global gaming community to speak out and stand up to the continuing attacks.      Intel Raptor Lake DDR5Intel is reportedly making a big push for Raptor Lake motherboards and 13th generation CPUs to use DDR5 memory. This information comes via TechPowerUp, which states that there will be "a big push towards DDR5" when the motherboards launch later in the year. This isn't necessarily a surprise, as DDR5 memory has been around since late 2021. The problem is that adoption rates haven't been the best among consumers. While Intel does want DDR5 to become more of a standard, that doesn't necessarily mean we should expect future generation boards to universally exclude DDR4. After all, DDR4 memory is still widely available and priced affordably. Furthermore, it would be unpopular to drop support for DDR4 after just one generation.   On the other hand, to Intel's point, there's also the idea that providing motherboards which support both DDR4 and DDR5 memory would be more costly to manufacturers. If manufacturers were to focus solely on DDR5 memo...

Free Arcade Games Epic Store Centipede Black Widow Recharged 2Two more games have become free on the Epic Games Store, and you may want to take note if you're a fan of old-school arcades. Centipede: Recharged and Black Widow: Recharged aren't so much remakes of the 1980s originals, as much as they a reimagining of each. Both games have been remade from the ground up but include features absent in their predecessors. They're both pretty cool-looking games, and it makes me hope we can see more arcade classics go free on the Epic Games Store. Arcades of old thrived on simple core gameplay loops, and Atari's Centipede and Black Widow were not the exception. In Centipede: Recharged, you play as a little, uh, well a little thing (a tank?) that shoots up. Moving around on a flat field, you fire away at oncoming bugs and fight off the titular centipede itself. The crux was that the centipede would grow longer over time, until it became too tough to fight and you'd lose. Arcade games, right? Black Widow: Recharged is a twi...

Warzone Pacific Vanguard Royale ChangesSeason Two of Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific introduced a range of new content. This came in the form of new areas to explore, two new weapon to equip to your loadout, and more. In January, the new season was delayed in favor of improving the state of the game. The developers have kept their promise and have continued to roll out regular updates. The latest Warzone Pacific patch makes changes to Vanguard Royale, while continuing to make bug fixes. The biggest adjustment has been made to the Vanguard Royale playlist. As it re-enters the rotation, you will notice that core player health will be increased from 100 to 150. This means that if you have full health and armor plates, your total health pool jumps up to a whopping 300. Ultimately, this means that the time to kill in this playlist is going to be slower.   In addition, UAV's have returned to buy stations, but for a higher price. They now cost $9,000, up from the previous $6,000. The aim of this change is to make UAV&#...

Battlefield 2042 Maps Smaller Rework BlogBattlefield developer DICE's lead designer, Adam Freeman, has posted a refreshing blog explaining what his team intends to do to address Battlefield 2042's core issues. Titled 'Battlefield Core Feedback – Map' it focuses on perhaps 2042's biggest problem: its map design. More specifically, how the scaling of the maps in Battlefield 2042 has resulted in infantry combat becoming redundant. The five issues identified by Freeman are traversal, intensity, line of sight, paths, and cover. These are all individually broken down in the blog, but the general message is that he believes that the gameplay in Battlefield 2042 is slow, unforgiving, and overly favors vehicles. A sentiment that a lot of the community will agree with.   Freeman even admits that at times Battlefield 2042 can feel like a "Walking Simulator," and that isn't satisfying. So how is this being solved? DICE is developing a huge rework for the majority of Battlefiel...
