Survival horror stealth Gloomwood early access hits August

It's been a long time since we've had a new entry in classic stealth game series Thief, although we may get a new one now the IP has been sold to Embracer Group. In the meantime, the self-styled "Thief with guns" Gloomwood early access release date was confirmed for this summer.

There were a number of great games shown at the PC Gaming Show, including a new trailer for the System Shock remake narrated by Shodan actor Terri Brosius. That wasn't the only trailer voiced by Brosius, as she's also lending her talents to horror game Gloomwood - appropriate, given how inspired it is by Thief, which Brosius was also a big part of.

More importantly, anyone who wants to try the Thief successor can do so this summer - either via the demo currently available on Steam, or through the Gloomwood early access release, which the trailer confirms is happening on August 16. If you're a Thief fan desperate for a new game rather than mods, you'll want to keep your eye on this.

Laysara: Summit Kingdom is a city builder on a mountainside

Laysara: Summit Kingdom showed off a new gameplay trailer at the PC Gaming Show, and it's looking like an absolutely gorgeous city builder set high atop the steepening slopes of mountains. With some stunning Tibetan architecture, you'll be building out your settlement in small chunks across patches of open space on the mountainside. You'll have to maintain and grow your civilization, while also contending with natural hazards such as avalanches.

There are several mountaintops to tackle, each with their own set of challenges - awkward terrain shapes, differing vegetation layouts, varying resource availability, and a variety of increasingly dangerous weather conditions. Some mountains will offer you the opportunity to farm on the greener lowlands of the mountain, while other times you may find yourself extracting valuable minerals and resources from the perilous peaks.

You can build a transport network across your mountain - featuring roads, bridges, and pulley-driven lift networks - to help you get your goods around the mountain. You can also establish trading routes with other towns to help obtain resources you are struggling to get your hands on.

     Starfield has a photo mode

The Xbox and Bethesda showcase brought with it the first good look at Starfield gameplay, but it also confirmed a surprising but welcome feature - a Starfield photo mode, so you take pretty pictures of distant galaxies in the eagerly-awaited space game.

The Xbox 2022 showcase finally revealed a lot of amazing details about Bethesda's next exciting RPG game after Skyrim and Fallout, with a big chunk of in-game footage and confirmation of many features - like ship customisation and space combat, or the ability to fly and land those ships anywhere on over 1,000 planets.

However, you may have overlooked another welcome feature coming to Starfield - a built-in photo mode is confirmed. Previous Bethesda RPGs have not had this useful and much-requested screenshot feature, and the likes of Fallout 4 only got a photo mode thanks to modders. However, a close look at the scanning during the early parts of the Starfield gameplay footage clearly shows a button labeled "photo mode" - so the handy feature will be available on day one.

Watch first Victoria 3 gameplay for the grand strategy game

Paradox Interactive has unveiled the first Victoria 3 gameplay trailer for their upcoming historical grand strategy game. Victoria 3 follows in the grand series tradition of a close focus on the 19th and early 20th centuries - complete with all the developing industry, burgeoning trade, and political reform which shaped the era. This latest entry in the cult classic strategy game is emphasising limitless replayability and the opportunity for player-driven stories.

Starting in 1836, Victoria 3 spans one hundred years of history and asks players how they want to lead their chosen nation to best develop their people into a thriving civilisation while keeping everyone fed, happy, and fulfilled. It's an era that featured rapid global industrialisation and vastly expanded suffrage and voting rights, and Victoria 3 aims to capture that, taking onboard everything the team at Paradox has learned in the twelve years since its predecessor Victoria II's release.

The gameplay trailer revealed at the PC Gaming Show shows off panning shots of the game's gorgeous European countryside, and a variety of the game's menus and UI. There's certainly a step up in polish and pizzazz from a decade ago, as you might expect, with a clear influence from Paradox's other grand strategy titles such as Stellaris and Crusader Kings III, as well as other titles in the genre like Civilization VI. There's a good amount of in-depth numbers to dig into, broken down in smart ways with helpful colour coding, which will likely be exactly the sort of rich detail fans of the genre are looking for.

505 Games announces new slice-of-life cyberpunk game Nivalis

New cyberpunk game Nivalis from Ion Games is a slice-of-life simulator taking place in the titular city of Nivalis, the setting of Ion's previous title Cloudpunk. The game is being published by 505 Games, and its announcement trailer showcases a person going about their day in the neon-drenched streets.

Players can choose how to spend their time in the city - explore the world, hop in a flying car, rent a new apartment in midtown, run a bar and choose if they want to water down the patrons' drinks for a bit more profit, meet a variety of characters and make friends, go fishing, and much more. The game features day and night cycles along with a realistic weather simulation.

The idea of just living out your day-to-day life in a cyberpunk city certainly sounds very appealing. But life isn't all sunshine and roses - gangs are roaming the streets looking for unsuspecting suckers with organs to harvest, the Corps that run the streets will fine you for so much as breathing, and the city itself is precariously positioned over an ocean and the very ground under your feet threatens to crumble and fall apart at any moment.

Dune: Spice Wars multiplayer update release is

The war for the desert planet Arrakis is about to heat up, as the Dune: Spice Wars multiplayer release date was just confirmed at the PC Gaming Show - and the strategy game will get battles for up to four players later in June.

Recently developer Shiro Games confirmed in its Dune: Spice Wars roadmap for 2022 that the real-time strategy game's multiplayer update would hit sometime in summer 2022, but with nothing more exact than that. Well, it's indeed coming "very soon" - June in fact. Multiplayer support is confirmed for up to four players in free-for-all battles, two versus two, and full co-op against AI factions. There will also be "new synergy systems" to open up more strategic options, too.

Frostpunk devs announce new sci-fi game The Alters

Polish developers 11 Bit Studios, makers of Frostpunk and This War of Mine, have unveiled their new sci-fi game The Alters, where protagonist Jan creates alternate versions of himself which have unique personalities shaped by his various potential paths in life.

In the announcement trailer, a man wakes up on a bunk bed in a space station, then walks into the crew quarters where several figures are crowded around a corpse in a space suit lying on a table. As the camera pans over, we see that the figure in the suit has the same face as the first man. As he starts to panic, the other figures turn to face him - revealing that they also look just like him, but with different hairstyles and facial hair.

The camera then pans out to show that everything is taking place in a container clustered with many others inside a giant wheel which is rolling along a dusty, grey planet. Lead artist Tomasz Kisilewicz explains that main character Jan creates these "alters" - unique variants of himself with their own character traits and skills - which will help him on his journey.

In a surprise announcement at the PC Gaming Show, the awaited Chivalry 2 Steam release was finally confirmed - and it's out as we speak, along with the medieval game's biggest update yet, adding mounted combat and a new desert biome.

The Chivalry 2 Tenosian update is a huge new update for the multiplayer game, adding the Tenosian faction - a desert army used to harsh conditions. The update also adds mounts to Chivalry 2 for the first time, as well as new deathmatch and team objective maps, and a lot more. Also, and perhaps most importantly, the game is finally on Steam after a long time exclusive to the Epic Game Store. There are also new weapon and item skins, too.

Starfield has 1,000 planets and you can land anywhere on any of them

How big is Starfield? Astonishingly so, it seems - Todd Howard says that you can land anywhere on and explore any of the RPG game's 1,000 planets across 100 star systems. In a presentation at the Xbox Bethesda Games showcase, the executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios spoke at length about the sheer scale of the space game.

"You may be wondering - just how big is this game?" Howard answers his own question, starting on just one planet. "You can land into Atlantis," he explains, "but you can also land and explore anywhere on the planet. And it's not just this planet - it's all the planets on the system. From barren but resource-heavy ice balls, to Goldilocks planets with life. And it's not just this system - but over 100 systems… Over 1,000 planets, all open for you to explore. We can't wait to see what you find."

This gargantuan promise certainly helps explain quite what's been keeping the open-world game in development for quite so long, following the recent announcement of its delay into 2023.

Ara: History Untold looks like the next Civilization style TBS

Looking for another Civilization challenger after Humankind? You might just have found it. Ara: History Untold is a new historical turn-based strategy game from Ashes of the Singularity creator Oxide Games, and was just announced at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase at Summer Game Fest.

In a trailer narrated by the unmistakeable voice of Shohreh Aghdashloo, which you can view below, the game's focus on history and, more specifically, alternate history is made clear: "What about the history that could have been, if you were its architect? How would you reshape the world? What new stories would you tell?"

These are the intriguing questions the trailer poses as the camera flies through a number of historical mashups, such as Egyptian Pyramids under construction on a snowbound plain. Sadly we don't see any gameplay in the trailer, but there are a few pre-alpha screenshots available on the official website, where you can also sign up for an insider programme right now. The site explains that your goal is to "build a nation and lead your people throughout history to the pinnacles of human achievement as you explore new lands, develop arts and culture, conduct diplomacy, and go head-to head with your rivals to prove you are the greatest ruler ever known."

You can fly, fight, and customize Starfield ships

The Xbox and Bethesda showcase has finally given us our first look at Starfield ship combat. Not only are flyable ships finally confirmed, but you can also fight in them too, before landing on any planet in the RPG game. Furthermore, there will be full Starfield ship customization too when the game launches in 2023.

The first extended Starfield gameplay trailer was shown off with a lot of detail about the eagerly-anticipated space game, with nothing more exciting than the details on spaceships. Players can fully customise their own starships, including choosing their own crew members, choosing the look and layout of the vessel - yes, even the colour. These ships will all perform differently and can be both flown and taken into battles - yes, Starfield space combat is confirmed too.

"You will be able to build your own spaceships," proudly says Bethesda head honcho Todd Howard. "There are loads of different ship modules, manufacturers, and more. It's not just how the ship looks, it's how it performs." The gameplay showing revealed someone putting a spaceship together with every part customisable, complete with many options for each piece - with different stats going up or down depending on the parts that were attached, such as engines, shields, and weapon systems.

Hideo Kojima working on a new game with Microsoft

Hideo Kojima is working on a new game using Microsoft's "cutting-edge cloud technology." The veteran developer says that the game is early in development, but that it is a "completely new game - one that no-one has ever experienced or seen before." That may be quite the bold claim, but coming from the mind behind the Metal Gear Solid series and Death Stranding, Kojima is probably one of the few who can make it.

Kojima says he has been waiting a very long time to make this "never-before-seen concept," but that the new game may take some time to develop in conjunction with Xbox Game Studios. Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, says that he is thrilled to have Kojima Productions working alongside Microsoft's teams.

The game is planned to make use of the Microsoft Azure cloud computing powerhouse, and will be Kojima Productions' second project after Death Stranding since their establishment as an independent studio after Kojima's departure from Konami. There are rumours that this game could see Kojima returning to the horror game genre following the cancellation of Silent Hills after the release of the cult classic teaser P.T.

Furthermore, the previous too entries in the series are also confirmed to be coming to Microsoft's subscription service, which is due to include Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal all together on PC for the first time.

Diablo 4 Necromancer announced with new gameplay footage

Blizzard has shown off the Diablo 4 Necromancer class - the fifth and final class for the upcoming ARPG game. Rod Fergusson took the stage at the Xbox Bethesda Games showcase to talk about the class and upcoming game, which he calls "the culmination of the 25-year history of the franchise."

Diablo IV is all about player choice, Fergusson says - gameplay footage showed off its fully-realised open world, which the team says will feature almost 150 dungeons in the game across a variety of types. There are strongholds in enemy territory which must be reclaimed and taken over as friendly outposts.

Players can also take part in local events and fight world bosses, and must collaborate to take down the gargantuan monsters. The game has fully enabled cross-play across PC and Xbox, as well as the option for local couch co-op. There are specific zones for PvP, too, where players can attack one another at any time - if you're really good, says Blizzard, you'll be marked as a champion, meaning "you basically become a loot pinata and everyone everyone will want to chase you down.

Minecraft Legends is a new action strategy game from Mojang

Mojang has announced its newest project, confirming recent rumours of a Minecraft RTS game with new action strategy game Minecraft Legends. The trailer shows off a range of villagers and characters wandering around a traditional-looking Minecraft environment, before a portal to the Nether opens up and zombie pigmen and other assorted pig monsters come flooding out to terrorise the realm.

We didn't get to see much of the game in action, although what looked like a base structure was shown from a top-down perspective. According to rumours, the player controls a single unit and orders other units around, in a manner akin to Overlord. The game is under development from the team behind action-RPG game Minecraft Dungeons.

Ark 2 is coming to Game Pass in 2023

June 12, 2022: An Ark 2 Game Pass release is confirmed for 2023, thanks to the survival game showing at the Xbox Showcase after all.

Despite fake leaks and reports, Ark 2 did indeed show at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, confirming the eagerly-awaited Vin Diesel-starring survival game for a release in 2023. And more importantly, there will be an Ark 2 Game Pass release too.

The anticipated Vin Diesel dinosaur game - also known as Ark 2, the sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved - was revealed at the Game Awards back in December 2020. Other than the news that family man Vin Diesel is actually serving as "president of creative convergence" on the project, we haven't heard anything about Ark 2 since then.

While it didn't receive any sort of gameplay reveal, Ark 2 did indeed show at the Xbox Showcase on June 12. As for why it would be at Microsoft's event rather than Summer Game Fest or the PC Gaming Show, it was previously confirmed as an Xbox console launch exclusive.

Halo DLC hits Microsoft Flight Simulator for free

Brand new Microsoft Flight Simulator Halo DLC was confirmed at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, and it's available to download now on Game Pass. Furthermore, the Flight Simulator 40th anniversary update is coming in November 2022 - yes, the series is really that old.

Earlier this month we thought we'd seen the biggest Flight Sim crossover ever with the Top Gun: Maverick tie-in DLC, but now Xbox's biggest FPS game franchise is taking to the skies too. The biggest news for Microsoft Flight Simulator is that the new Halo Infinite DLC is available now, and it gives players the opportunity to fly the iconic Pelican craft in the PC simulation game through the skies - and above them - for the first time.

Furthermore, the big 40th-anniversary update will hit the flight game in November 2022 with new aircraft, helicopters, and even classic vehicles from the history of flight - such as the Wright Bros plane and the Spirit of St Louis, which we can't imagine will go very fast.

Overwatch 2 free-to-play, release date and new hero announced

Overwatch 2 will be a free-to-play game, Blizzard has confirmed at the Xbox Bethesda Games showcase. The company also showed off its newest hero, Junker Queen, in a brand-new trailer - the queen of the Wasteland is set to join the roster of Overwatch 2 heroes. Blizzard also announced that the FPS game will be launching in early access on October 4.

There has been much speculation about who would be next to join the game's roster, with plenty of hypothesising that the Junker Queen was lining up to jump into action. In the cinematic teaser, we also meet the Junker King, Mason Howl - who is seen sitting in a mech. The Junker Queen explains that the survivor of a free-for-all brawl claims the throne, and notes that Howl has never lost in his 13 years of rule.

Overwatch 2 adapts the hero shooter to a 5-on-5 brawl, dropping one tank from each team. The game's first beta recently finished, but its esports competition is ongoing, with The Overwatch League currently taking place on the Overwatch 2 beta build.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is coming to Game Pass in 2022

A Plague Tale: Requiem Game Pass release was confirmed at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase today, which will come to the service in 2022 on day one. Along with that, a brand new gameplay trailer from the adventure game sequel was shown.

Other than the big news about a Game Pass day one release, the new A Plague Tale: Requiem gameplay trailer showed off the rat game's improved graphics tech - as well as the various ways the characters will be able to dispatch enemy soldiers, which looks even more distressing than the first game. Knocking enemies into swarms of rats has never looked more scary and more fun, and you should be able to control them as well.

A Plague Tale: Requiem picks up a while after the events of the first game. From the little story the trailer reveals, main character Amicia has somehow lost contact with her brother Hugo - who, at the end of Innocence, was just beginning to gain control over his seemingly magical ability to command rats. Without Hugo around, though, the swarms of rats become a threat once again.

All subscribers to Gamepass will now have access to every League of Legends Champion and Valorant Agent in the developer's games, Riot Games president Marc Merrill has announced in partnership with Microsoft at the Xbox Bethesda Games showcase. The hugely popular MOBA and FPS games are partnering with Xbox Gamepass for PC in this dramatic deal.

The deal means that anyone with a Gamepass subscription will have access to all the characters in League of Legends, LoL Wild Rift, and Valorant. The free-to-play games usually have a free hero rotation, but players with Gamepass will now have access to every hero in the game. The foundations set for Legends of Runeterra will also be provided to subscribers, as will select Little Legends in Teamfight Tactics.

The announcement post on the Xbox site also states that "players will receive bonus experience across select titles."      Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to Game Pass day one

The first new Hollow Knight: Silksong gameplay has been revealed at the Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase - and, even more shockingly, we got confirmation of a Silksong Game Pass release, and it'll be available on PC and Xbox day one on Microsoft's service.

It's been a long wait for any news of Hollow Knight: Silksong, with developer Team Cherry insisting back in 2019 that it will only release the game when it "matches the quality and scale of Hollow Knight." Team Cherry has also been firm that it will only name a release date once it is "100% certain" that the game will be ready in time. Well, that time is nearly here, and it seems like it could be available in either 2022 or 2023.

If you're into 2D action platforming games, metroidvanias, or even soulslike games, Hollow Knight is a must-try. Don't be like me, who put it off for years with just a tentative poking at the first couple of hours. It's one of the standout games of its type - there's good reason why so many people have been eagerly anticipating this next game in the series. One fan has even been posting drawings every day until Silksong releases.

Watch first Redfall gameplay from the Xbox Games showcase

Arkane Austin has shown off the first extended Redfall gameplay trailer for its co-op vampire game - opening on an old country church in the United States, with first-person gameplay of a character slowly making their way around the church's interior with a pink-sprayed shotgun. The walls are covered in blood, with "Let me in" and other such phrases scrawled along the environments.

"I'll bite out your heart!" threatens a mysterious figure who looks a lot like they might be a vampire. The trailer teases several different charcters, including genius engineer Remi de la Rosa, British cryptozoologist Devinder Crousley, and telekinetic studient Layla Ellison, who is heard narrating the game's action-packed trailer.

Arkane's co-op game was pushed back into 2023 alongside Bethesda Games' space RPG Starfield in May, which left many fans hoping that an update on the looter shooter would arrive at the Xbox Bethesda Games showcase. The game follows on from Arkane's previous titles including Dishonored and Deathloop, with the studio promising on its official site that the new game will bring Arkane's "signature gameplay to the co-operative action and FPS genres."

Xbox Bethesda Showcase start time – How to watch Xbox Games showcase

The Xbox Bethesda Showcase start time is almost here, a collection of announcements about upcoming games headed to Xbox, PC, and Game Pass over the course of the next several months. The showcase is part of Summer Game Fest 2022, but it's essentially what we would've gotten if E3 still existed – and may get again in 2023, if the Entertainment Software Association has its way – though what Microsoft and its studios has in store remains something of a mystery.

Previously, Bethesda planned on showing Starfield footage for the first time. With the space RPG delayed until 2023, though, it's unclear whether Bethesda will go ahead with its original intention, hence why some fans are making their own Starfield trailers to ease the pain of waiting.

Xbox itself has a number of projects in the works, from Rare's troubled Everwild to Avowed from Obsidian and the Forza franchise. In previous years, Xbox also highlighted third-party games such as Tales of Arise and Scarlet Nexus during its spotlight, so we may see some surprises from other developers as well.

Every Elden Ring boss is at the centre of the RPG game's experience, with each one being both challenging and meticulously crafted - so when an update makes an unexpected change to one, fans notice. Apparently, Elden Ring patch 1.04 made a weird one to Morgott, the Omen King, with an interesting change to his cutscene.

Morgott is somewhat underestimated in the roster of Elden Ring bosses. He's one of the few you have to defeat to progress in the open-world game, but the fact that he's essentially a ramped-up repeat of Margit the Fell Omen means that Morgott often doesn't get the attention he deserves. So, while players immediately noticed a change to Malenia in patch 1.04, it's mostly gone unnoticed that Morgott also had a change - perhaps a more visible one, too.

As spotted by user Razhork on Reddit, Morgott received a big change to his opening cutscene in patch 1.04. Previously, he'd grab his cane, set it on fire, and it'd explode to reveal his sword. After the patch, there's no fire, and the cane just crumbles to reveal the sword.

Blizzard sets next Overwatch 2 reveal event time and date

If you're waiting on news of Overwatch 2, then you're in luck - Blizzard has announced the next Overwatch 2 reveal event time and date. The first Overwatch 2 beta saw a mixed response, with many players lamenting the singular addition of Sojourn as the only new entry to the roster of Overwatch 2 heroes. However, the development team at Blizzard has been fairly transparent so far with updates and feedback, and it is set to show off its next plans for the FPS game very soon.

The first Overwatch 2 public beta saw the game reaching record viewers on Twitch thanks to fans lining up for Twitch Drop beta keys to play the game themselves. Players were able to try out new hero Sojourn and the brand-new Push gameplay mode, along with major reworks to heroes such as Bastion, Orisa, and Doomfist - the latter of whom has been thriving in his newfound role as a tank hero.

The Overwatch team has also been experimenting with a number of more unique balance changes during their beta testing - including buffing Zenyatta with a beefy snap kick and allowing maligned flanking tank Roadhog to use his healing and hook abilities while cranking out his Whole Hog ultimate. The team at Blizzard says that "We've only just scratched the surface. This is the beginning of everything we have in store for the game."

I had just kind of assumed that if you sail a ship in Sea Of Thieves you're a captain, you know? I know it doesn't give anyone that title, but I figured whoever was hosting the game just kind of was it. But it turns out I am a FOOL and that nobody was a captain at all. All that is going to change when Season Seven of the MMO pirate 'em up arrives next month, as confirmed in a jaunty song at the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase. Players are getting a whole raft of "Captaincy features" - and these include being able to name your ship and customise the interior.

Wo Long fallen dynasty

Koei Tecmo and Ninja Gaiden developer Team Ninja are developing a new, original action game. Called Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the game debuted at Microsoft and Bethesda's 2022 showcase stream.

The game is set in a fantastical rendition of Three Kingdoms-era China, where the Han dynasty is plagued by demons and monsters. Players control a nameless militia soldier fighting for survival amidst the chaos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7FqH_jrYFg

The player is apparently capable of acrobatic martial arts techniques. According to an NPC, they're possessed of "The Eternal Elixir Field," some form of supernatural power. With it, they can go toe-to-toe with demonically empowered foes. One such foe even consumes an item of some sort, transforming into a giant demon. The trailer closed on a shot of the protagonist encountering a man who is likely Lu Bu, famed hero of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms saga.

The Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty trailer itself was fully cinematic and didn't give much hint as to gameplay. Given Team Ninja's history, though, a character action game of some sort is a safe bet. Whether it will be more like Ninja Gaiden or closer to Nioh, or something entirely different? Koei Tecmo hasn't revealed that yet. In any case, players will get a chance to find out in early 2023, the game's scheduled release window.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is in development for Xbox Series consoles and PC. It'll arrive on Xbox Game Pass upon release.

Starfield

Starfield may not be coming out in 2022, but Bethesda and Microsoft had more to share about the new original open-world game at the 2022 Xbox Showcase event. Bethesda head Todd Howard appeared to present more details on the long-in-development RPG, as well as reveal the first actual gameplay footage.

Howard showed off footage from early gameplay in the Starfield campaign, when players arrive on a mysterious moon. They disembark from their ship, alongside a human-sized robot companion. The player explores the area in both first- and third-person perspectives, and encounters a facility in use by the "Crimson Fleet Pirates." Armed with a gun, they storm the compound, killing the pirates and taking their loot. During the firefight, another spaceship arrives, which the player jumps to using a jetpack.

The Starfield gameplay footage then skips to a more peaceful section, after the player visits the Constellation faction at their capital on New Atlantis. They speak with a new character in the telltale zoomed-in conversational view used by Bethesda's RPGs, and are assigned a mission to determine the purpose of some mysterious artifacts. The Starfield trailer moved into a gameplay montage, featuring conversations and factions from the game.

Check out the full trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmb2FJGvnAw

Players will be able to create their character, and can determine their skills and traits. The skill system combines elements from other Bethesda RPGs like Fallout 3 & 4 and The Elder Scrolls. They'll be able to craft weapons, build out a home base in Starfield homesteading gameplay, hire NPCs, and eventually construct and customize their own personal spaceship. These ships can be flown directly as well, with an in-cockpit view reminiscent of space sims. There is also space combat, with the player-flown ship taking on some pirates.

Howard closed out the Starfield gameplay presentation with a boast about the scale of the game. It'll have over 1,000 planets across hundreds of star systems. Planets that can be landed on, like New Atlantis, can be explored in full, with players able to fly and land anywhere on the surface. He didn't elaborate on whether the planets are bespoke creations or procedurally generated like No Man's Sky.

Starfield is in development and scheduled for release in 2023 for Xbox Series consoles and PC. It will arrive on Xbox Game Pass upon release.

Hollow Knight Silksong

Microsoft's Xbox and Bethesda Showcase brought new word of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to hit side-scrolling action game Hollow Knight. The trailer shown during the event was the first and most substantial look at the game since its reveal in 2019. Since then, information has been sparse, to the point that developer Team Cherry skipped last year's showcase entirely.

Check out the reveal trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSfuFlhsxZY

With the showcase focused on titles that will be released by June 2023, would-be players of Hollow Knight: Silksong can expect the game within that window. It'll also be a day-one Xbox Game Pass release, meaning subscribers will see it in their PC and Xbox console libraries when it's ready to play.

Originally intended as DLC content for the original Hollow KnightSilksong grew into its own game. Players will control Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, and a lethal hunter. Hornet uses a needle-like weapon and silken threads in combat. She'll also have a new set of moves and the ability to craft an array of weapons and gadgets to further exploration and unlock combat options. Over 150 new enemies and new zones were also promised.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will arrive on Xbox consoles, PC, and Xbox Game Pass by mid-2023. Nintendo Switch was also listed as a target platform in the initial announcement.

At the end of the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, Hideo Kojima appeared to talk about a new game he's working on with Xbox Game Studios

Near the end of the 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, Hideo Kojima showed up to talk about a new game he's working on. It will be a collaboration between Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios.

Here is Hideo Kojima's full statement about the new game from the presentation.

Hi, everyone, this is Hideo Kojima. Yes, there is a game I have always wanted to make. It's a completely new game, one that no one has ever experienced or seen before. I've waited very long for the day when I could finally start to create it. With Microsoft's cutting edge cloud technology, and the change in the industry's trend, it has now become possible to challenge myself to make this never-before-seen concept. It may take some time, but I'm looking forward to teaming up with Xbox Game Studios and hope to bring you some exciting news in the future! Thank you!

Kojima Productions' first game was Death Stranding, which first showed up on the PS4 and PC. It later ended up getting a Director's Cut release for the PS5 and PC. The next new, rumored game from Hideo Kojima is supposedly a game called Overdose.

bakemonogatari manga oh great

The artist behind the manga adaptation of Bakemonogatari, Oh! great, will take a three-month break to recover from an illness. The manga will start up again in the September 7, 2022 issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine. Oh! great did not reveal what sickness he has. However, Keisuke Itagaki of Baki-dou noted that Oh! great "tested positive," so it is possible that he has COVID-19. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

Bakemonogatari is part of Nisio Isin's Monogatari light novel series. The series also spawned multiple anime adaptations. It follows the story of Koyomi Araragi, who is a quasi-vampire and trying to live a normal life after surviving a vampire attack. However, he cannot stop becoming involved with the supernatural problems of the girls around him. Bakemonogatari is the first entry in the series.

As for Oh! great, he previously penned works such as Tenjho Tenge and Air Gear. He has worked on the Bakemonogatari manga since 2018. While the manga series covers the events of Bakemonogatari, Oh! great did incorporate Kizumonogatari into the work for readers to better understand certain characters.      Wo Long Fallen Dynasty Game Reveal TrailerWhen "Team Ninja" flashed across the screen during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, I imagined we were about to hear more about its action franchise, Nioh. As it turns out, I was partially correct. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an action game with fantasy elements, coming to PC from the Nioh producer. Fumihiko Yasuda, who worked on Nioh, is teaming up with Team Ninja as well as Masaaki Yamagiwa, the lead producer of Bloodborne. It's quite the merry band, and it leads me to believe Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be a game worth watching for fans of action. At first blush, I harkened Wo Long to be something similar to Dynasty Warriors. But with the producers of two of the finest action games in history on board, that might not be the case. But the setting should be similar (I see you, Lu Bu). According to a post on Xbox Wire, Wo Long follows the journey of a nameless soldier in the "Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms." However, while ...

demonschool release pc 2023Persona is a hot commodity nowadays, inspiring many games to follow its formula of RPG action mixed in with some romance. Demonschool, an upcoming tactical RPG, will release for PC in 2023. The creators are clearly taking pride in its inspirations, and is set to deliver a product fans of the Shin Megami Tensei series would love. The game is mixing in these elements with Italian-horror inspired graphics and set pieces, creating something truly unique and potentially horrifying. Those Italian horror movies are not to be underestimated. Demonschool follows the newly minted freshmen Faye, the last remaining member of a "legendary demon hunter family." Listen up Persona fans, because Demonschool pits Faye against the perils of both demonic figures and school life. The latter is arguably more terrifying, despite having to deal with Yakuza members and their summoning rituals. Strengthening your relationships with your classmates will also act as an important mechanic in the game, ...

Flinklock Siege Of Dawn Gameplay Trailer Pc GamingDuring the Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase today, another gameplay trailer for Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn was shown off, highlighting a boss battle, more abilities, and large sprawling levels. Additionally, the trailer provided a release window for early 2023. When Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn first debuted with a gameplay trailer back in March during ID@Xbox, it immediately caught our attention for several reasons. It not only boasts some interesting looking combat and impressive visuals, it's also from the creators of Ashen.   The game is described as an open-world adventure RPG, featuring a mix of melee and firearm ranged combat, plus magic abilities. The project immediately gives off some Greedfall vibes, but there's certainly an air of Souls-like combat about it as well. Starting off strong One good sign that this will be a strong launch is the decent amount of gameplay footage since the March reveal. Plenty of games start of with CGI trailers, but this game ge...

The Alters Trailer Reveal 11 Bit StudiosSo far, all of the IPs developed by 11 bit studios have turned out quite different from each other. For instance, 2014's This War of Mine functioned as a survival sim played from a side-angle perspective. And 2018's Frostpunk combined elements of both survival and city builders. 11 bit studio's newest project, dubbed The Alters, looks like it will continue the developer's streak of fresh ideas. Revealed during today's PC Gaming Show, The Alters has an air of mystery surrounding it, as the debut trailer deliberately keeps us in the dark with its premise. Clocking in at a little over two minutes, the debut trailer for The Alters begins with a man in a pink hospital gown waking up from bed. He slowly opens a door before walking down a long, dark hallway. He eventually ends up in a brightly lit room where a group of pink-clad men stands over and examines a dead astronaut. The man walks up to the astronaut only to find that, strangely enough, they share th...

Scorn Release Date Trailer Gameplay Xbox 2022 PcRetaining patience can be a grueling affair when it comes to long periods of game development. That can be particularly true for crowd-funded games such as Scorn, which has been in development since 2014. Fast forward to today, and it's about ready for primetime. A new gameplay trailer for Scorn debuted at the Xbox Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, noting a final release date of October 21. This will undoubtedly excite those that've suffered the full wait. There's a certain irony to the situation given the morbid theme of the game, alongside the controversy that happened last year where the developers got a little heated with upset fans.   The original release was set for September 2021, but the developers had to push things back another year to wrap up the project. This expectedly led to some backlash and prompted one of the developers to fire back and make some comments that were later apologized for. Perhaps we can get past that rough patch now, though, and get ba...
