Cyberpunk 2077 QA studio responds to claims it misled CD Projekt Red

Earlier this week, YouTube channel Upper Echelon Gamers published a video wherein a whistleblower claimed that Cyberpunk 2077's bugs were the result of various practices at Quantic Labs, a studio hired by CD Projekt Red to oversee quality assurance on its 2020 sci-fi RPG. After being contacted by PCGamesN, Quantic Labs has now issued an official response to the claims, describing some of the statements made in the original video as "incorrect".

Arkane made Redfall's vampires scientific cultists

The vampires of Redfall aren't your typical Nosferatu-popping-out-of-a-cupboard monsters. Bethesda and Arkane published a deep-dive into Redfall's vampires, following the initial gameplay reveal during the Xbox Bethesda Showcase, and revealed some new pieces of lore about how the children of the night came to be and what to expect from them. Studio director Harvey Smith and business director Susan Kath said the goal was creating unique, original folklore for Redfall, so while you may see some recognizable vampire tropes show up, Redfall's bloodsuckers are quite different from what you're used to.

League of Legends patch 12.13 notes – Star Guardian skins

The League of Legends patch 12.13 notes are now available for the live update. Following the extensive LoL patch 12.12, thanks to the new update we now know what Riot Games is bringing to its popular MOBA game next – and it's got some stellar new skins and a lot of champion changes.

It seems Riot wasn't content with nerfing new champion Bel'Veth, the Empress of the Void in patch 12.12, now 12.13 is starting to go through the PBE patch cycle and it's already host to some big champion changes - such as a big range of buffs for Gwen and Katarina. There's undoubtedly more to come before the patch releases properly in mid-July.

While 12.12 went for some ice-themed skins, 12.13 is reaching for the stars instead. The new Star Guardian forms for Kai'Sa, Nilah, and Ekko are coming in the next patch - including an alternate Prestige version for Ekko.

Intel is set to slash Alder Lake CPU prices for gaming PC makers

Intel is reportedly cutting the price of its Alder Lake CPUs for the second time this year, in a move designed to counteract reduced gaming PC demand. The reduction will be the second discount offered to machine makers this year, as insiders say there's already been a 10% drop.

According to Digitimes, Intel plans to knock an additional 5% off current-gen gaming CPU prices in Q3 2022, including top-end i5 and i9 chips (via Tom's Hardware). The publication suggests that the price drops are unprecedented, as the firm usually only discounts niche products and older processors.

Gaming PC price reductions are normally a good thing, but Intel's cuts are potentially a foreboding sign for the industry. Digitimes says the top five prebuild brands could reduce orders by up to 80%, a reaction to demand being "far weaker than expected." This could be due to enthusiasts holding off from buying a new rig, as the best graphics cards and CPUs are still expensive. Yet, there's also a global recession brewing, which could slow down sales in the near future.

Eve Online graphics update aims to immerse new players

Now nearing its 20th anniversary, free-to-play space MMORPG Eve Online is turning over a new leaf with the launch of Eve Evolved, a broad initiative aimed at improving core elements of the play experience. The latest Eve Online update begins this transformation, developer CCP Games says, and a big part of what's new in this patch is aimed at appealing to new players - and at softening Eve's decades-long reputation for being a difficult game to get into.

When you start a new pilot - a 'capsuleer,' in Eve terminology - your first move is generally to start taking jobs from several beginner NPC career agents. Each one provides a string of missions designed to introduce Eve's various career paths. Agents will show new players the ropes when it comes to being an enforcer, industrialist, or explorer, with several solo missions to complete that take place in instanced single-player 'dungeons' in nearby space.

The Eve Evolved update introduces a stunning graphical overhaul to these areas, filling the once sparse sectors with forests of asteroids and swirls of cloudy particle matter. Space stations are ringed with dust, and the faraway nebulae are significantly crisper, thanks to a high-res remaster of these celestial bodies.

How to use a Warzone Golden Keycard to open Mercenary Vaults

Want to open up a Mercenary Vault with a Warzone Golden Keycard? Long time Warzone players won't forget the loot-laden bunkers that were underneath Verdansk years ago. These mysterious bunkers have made their way to Caldera after the Warzone Season 4 update, but this time they're known as Mercenary Vaults and they can only be accessed with a Golden Keycard.

Finding a Warzone Golden Keycard in the battle royale game can be a tricky process, but there are ways to maximise your chances of finding one. Once you have a keycard, all you need to do is travel to the areas on the map featuring yellow circles around them. Opening Mercenary Vaults rewards you with game-changing loot, setting players up perfectly to dominate rival squads with loads of cash, weapons, and equipment. Don't forget to check out the Warzone buried treasure found on Fortune's Keep if you're searching for powerful loot in the early game.

How to dig up Warzone buried treasure and find shovel locations

Are you looking for shovel locations and buried treasure in Warzone? Fortune's Keep, the latest map to join the battle royale game, features many helpful easter eggs to discover. The most useful one involves digging up mounds to find buried treasure, giving players a chance to score some powerful loot before the first circle collapses.

Coincidentally, Caldera has another easter egg that rewards players with game-changing loot, thanks to the Warzone golden keycard found in supply crates. However, if you want to get your hands on Warzone buried treasure on Fortune's Keep, you need to find the shovel locations. There are only a finite number of shovels on the map, so you need to act quickly as you parachute to the island.

The best Minecraft shaders in 2022

What are the best Minecraft shaders? More importantly what are Minecraft shaders? The popular crafting game has a lot of things in its favour: infinite replayability, massively varied gameplay, and a constantly changing and improving online game. Where Minecraft draws criticism compared to other modern games is its graphics. Fortunately, as with everything in Minecraft, the graphical fidelity can be tweaked to incredible effect with the help of Minecraft shaders.

From photorealistic lighting to uncanny motion blur, shaders are capable of bringing your Minecraft experience to life. Every Minecraft shader has its own unique qualities, whether that's injecting some serious style or providing a boost to Minecraft's base visuals without too much lag. So, in order to set you on your way to crystal-clear vistas we've put together a collection of the best Minecraft shaders out there.

Getting a Minecraft shader or shader pack up and running is a simple enough process. Before you get started trying to install a shader pack though, you'll want to download and install either Forge or Optifine. Bear in mind that these aren't always kept up to date, so your options are limited if you want to run shaders on the latest version of Minecraft Java. Likewise, you need to make sure whichever shaders you're downloading are for the same version of Minecraft Java you're running.

Sonic Frontiers Cyberspace levels are remixes of the classics

After a lot of rumours, Sega has finally revealed the Sonic Frontiers Cyberspace levels at the Nintendo Direct show, confirming these missions as remixed takes on classic Sonic the Hedgehog levels like the original Green Hill Zone.

Despite the series' checkered history, the Sonic games boast some of the best platform games of all time, so it was always intriguing when Sonic Frontiers was confirmed as more of an open-world game - basically a weird spin on Elden Ring, in fact.

For anyone not convinced, the Cyberspace levels should be more in line with expectations as they are remixes of classic levels in the style of Sonic Generations - a little like the 'warp zone' levels of Super Mario Sunshine. The trailer confirms takes on Green Hill and either Speed Highway (Sonic Adventure) or Empire City (Sonic Unleashed). Entrances to Cyberspace levels can be found all over the world map, according to Sega, although you'll need to complete challenges to get the "portal gears" to open them. Completing a Cyberspace level will give you a Vault Key, which is apparently needed to progress in the game.

     The best Minecraft servers 2022

What are the best Minecraft servers? Servers make the world go round. Or, at least, the worlds of Minecraft. It is no secret that the PC community boasts the most ambitious players in the world, and there is no better evidence of this in action than our best Minecraft server list. The architectural artist's paradise, Minecraft has been a great creative outlet for players who can build to their heart's content, all without knowing a single line of code.

Their works and ideas are immortalised in the best Minecraft servers. Every server is its own self-contained multiplayer world, with its own rules, gameplay style, and communities. We've had a hunt around to find the very best, featuring anything from breathtaking constructions and vistas to worlds with whole new rules and game modes.

One thing to keep in mind is that different servers can sometimes use older versions of Minecraft. Plenty of servers have updated to the current 1.18 patch, but many other popular servers are sticking to older versions of the game for now. Make sure you check each server before jumping in to ensure you know what to expect. With that out of the way, come check out these excellent Minecraft servers.

Return to Monkey Island trailer reveals its wild new art style

The first proper Return to Monkey Island trailer is here, acting as a full gameplay reveal for the anticipated adventure game sequel. The Monkey Island 5 gameplay trailer reveals the bold and probably divisive art style, a second playable character, and possibly a decades-old Secret revealed.

The trailer certainly reveals a lot, although not much of the pirate game's story. Returning characters include series protagonist Guybrush Threepwood - whose long-standing actor Dominic Armato provides most of the voiceover - and other regulars like Elaine Marley, series villain LeChuck, Murray the evil skull, and Stan the salesman. Other returning characters include Wally the map-maker, Carla the swordmaster, and even the short-sighted lookout. Interestingly, Elaine seems playable at a number of points, a first for the series.

There are two big talking points in the trailer, though. The first is the tease that the first game's titular secret of Monkey Island may be revealed, which has remained in Ron Gilbert's head since 1990 so it's well past time it was cracked open. Secondly, the angular and storybook-like art style, which has already proven divisive but is nonetheless distinctive and a stylish choice.

     The best Elden Ring mods

Are you looking for the best Elden Ring mods? The beauty of mods is that they're highly versatile tools which give players the ability to finely tweak their experience. In the case of Elden Ring, one of the highest rated games of all time, who would want to mod a critically acclaimed title? Well, if you find Souls games to be difficult, you can use the Easy Mode mod to tone things down. Some players might consider this a step too far, so why not remove the death mechanic which stops you from losing your Runes instead?

What makes the best Elden Ring mods stand out is that they have the power to drastically improve someone's experience of the game. You might not own an ultrawide monitor, but the player that does is going to rely on the ultrawide mods every time they boot up the fantasy game. Likewise, if you own a PlayStation controller, you might want to see the correct button prompts in-game as you spend potentially hundreds of hours roaming The Lands Between.

Whether you want to change the way ranged weapons work, or you just want the option to pause the game, we've got the mods for you. Here's everything you need to try out the best Elden Ring mods, including the PlayStation controller UI fix, the pause button mod, and more.

Nvidia RTX 3080 12GB reportedly axed ahead of RTX 4000 GPUs

Nvidia RTX 4000 GPUs are on the horizon, and whispers claim the RTX 3080 12GB is already discontinued. The green team has reportedly stopped sending chips to board partners, but it's not to make room for its next best graphics cards, as the rest of the GeForce RTX 3000 series is allegedly safe for now,

According to Zed__Wang, RTX 3080 12GB GPU production has stopped, something that's attributed to a "dramatic" RTX 3080 Ti price drop (via El Chapuzas Informatico). Both options are currently available for almost the same price on the likes of Newegg, but 12GB variant stock is limited.

While the RTX 3080 12GB is heading to the big PC case in the sky, the 10GB model seems to be clutching on. Its lower spec'd sibling costs significantly less at around $800 USD, which is perhaps why it's getting to stick around for a little longer. That said, the 12GB card features more cores and a wider memory bus, so enthusiasts would probably rather it was spared from retirement.

Rumour: an unannounced EA Marvel superhero game is coming

As of the time of writing, there are a few Marvel Comics superhero games in development. Scratch that, there are absolute truckloads in the works, even with the Marvel MMO getting cancelled. According to a rumour, we might be able to fling another new Marvel game on the pile, as EA apparently has one too.

Alright, deep breath - Spider-Man Remastered swings its way into August, with Miles Morales coming later in 2022, and developer Insomniac is working on Spider-Man II and Wolverine. Strategy game Midnight Suns is out in October, and the former Uncharted lead is making a triple-A Marvel game that may be Daredevil or Fantastic Four.

Now, according to the XboxEra Podcast and Nick Baker a.k.a. Shpeshal_Nick, "EA's making a Marvel game" too. Nick had no other information to share and made it clear that this is only a rumour, but he seems to be aware of which specific Marvel IP it's purported to be about and is going to run it past his own EA sources.

Review: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Asks What If Three Houses Musou

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is a Musou game that asks a lot of "what ifs." What if Byleth didn't come to Garreg Mach as a teacher? What if someone else ended up aiding Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard when the three encountered bandits? What if, instead of a traditional tactical game like Three Houses, Three Hopes was a more active one? The answers to all of them, perhaps not shockingly, are rather fascinating.

Shez is a mercenary. Who were they working for? It doesn't really matter. What does is that they face the Ashen Demon Byleth and Jeralt's mercenary company on a battlefield, and things go awry. Everyone Shez worked with is killed, and they nearly fall. However, a being named Arval's fate ends up intertwined with theirs. This grants them extraordinary power. It also leaves the two with a mission. That is, get revenge on Byleth. However, as they go about finding Jeralt's group again, they end up in the same position as Byleth did in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. That is, they wind up at Garreg Mach and tied to one of the three houses. However, in this case Shez is a student alongside the other characters, and their fate intertwines with Claude's, Dimitri's, or Edelgard's.

Review: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Asks What If Three Houses Musou

What's intriguing about Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is the alternative history it offers compared to the original Three Houses. Because Shez replaces Byleth as the "main" character, so many things also change. Certain character behave differently. Events we saw in the academy before don't go as "planned." It's fascinating. Which isn't to say it makes one telling "right" or the other "wrong." It's a case of "what if." As for how the stories compare, it will depend on the person. I think I liked the Golden Deer storyline in Three Houses more than the one in Three Hopes. But both have their own merits. Though given how much political talk and plot comes up, I sort of feel like someone coming into Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes that didn't play Three Houses will be a little lost.

As a Musou game, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is a more active experience than the traditional installments. When you head into the field, you'll see a map with varying objectives. More will be added as you play, as well as side-quests. You will be able to directly control four of the characters you assign to the fight. (Though in some cases, an additional four can also be deployed as unplayable allies.) When in the field, you'll button-mash to attack units. Tasks tend to involve named units. Their guard will often need to be broken to deal more devastating damage and defeat them. Also, you'll need to capture certain points, guard allies, open closed spaces, and even go after chests.

Lorenz

What I really appreciated about Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is how much more strategic it feels than other Musou games. The weapon triangle system is in full effect, and there is a noticeable difference in damage when you play to characters' strengths. Obtaining extra abilities via changing classes also visibly affects everything. The game very much encourages you to constantly bring up the menu in a fight to direct characters you aren't controlling or who appear as NPCs on a map to handle certain objectives. Getting strategy points to implement certain actions to alter a chapter's major battle, perhaps by making an enemy commander recruitable or to add extra NPC allies, is also pretty great. Not to mention the Adjutant system is in place to add partners.

Though, I will say that the tutorials are sometimes not handled well. First, there are a lot of them. Which can be handy! Some people might not be accustomed to Musou games, and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes' handholding could assist with that. But also, they can be a little overbearing. Especially when you're over five hours in and still seeing them. I also felt like some of the tutorials didn't do as good of a job explaining things. The aforementioned Adjutant system is a good example. I almost felt like it was more of an aside than anything, and I had to look up online to figure out how to actually properly implement it.

Review: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Asks 'What If'

There are also a number of general quality of life changes here, from what appeared in past Musou games and the original Fire Emblem Warriors. Shez can fast-travel a limited number of times in-battle. It definitely helps with achieving goals. Getting characters on par with each other is fairly easy, due to the training facilities and leveling options. You're constantly getting rewarded for actions, which also helps with getting people prepared for battle. It's very easy to control. Even though it might eventually wear on the hands a bit, I didn't feel like it is as much of a button-masher as other installments.

I also loved how much Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes draws from Three Houses. The support system remains in place. Characters get closer via gifts, expeditions, performing chores, eating together, training together and fighting together. Which, well, happened in the original game too! There is an optional permadeath option, which kicks in after the fourth chapter. A morale system is in play. There is also the aforementioned class and ability system, with certain items needed to take "tests" for more advanced roles. Not to mention that, like Three Houses, there are multiple routes to take. As I played it, I felt like it understood why people enjoyed the original game and tried to pay tribute to that.

Claude

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is the sort of Musou game that not only gets what is special about Fire Emblem in general, but about Three Houses specifically. It's a very involved title. The story gets quite detailed. So much so that folks who don't have that Three Houses experience might not get the most out of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. But it's generally an incredibly solid Musou game and a lot of fun if you are aware of everything going on.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is available for the Nintendo Switch.

Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher

Japanese Switch users and fans of Ultraman, and Monster Rancher enthusiasts will soon be able to unite in celebration. Bandai Namco is behind publishing Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher, a spin-off of the popular farming and training-sim game based on the Ultraman franchise.

Check out the trailer from the Japanese edition of the June 28, 2022 Nintendo Direct Mini broadcast. As the series is known as Monster Farm in Japan, the game's formal title is Ultra Kaiju Monster Farm.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzMvazb0zV0

In the game, players will establish their own massive farm and build it with the help of various Kaiju monsters from the Ultraman series. In keeping with Monster Rancher tradition, Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher players will recruit new Kaiju by putting random media into the game. However, since the Switch doesn't have a disc drive to take music CDs or DVDs, the recruitment methods are all-digital. Players can search pieces of music by title or artist to generate new Kaiju. They'll also be able to use IC "smart" cards used in transit systems (like Suica or Icoca), or the NFC chips in smartphones, for Kaiju recruitment. Classic Ultraman Kaiju like Zetton, Gomora, and Alien Baltan were shown. Players will train their Kaiju to improve their stats, have them race rivals, build Ultra-size snow sculptures, and even do some sparring. They can also fuse Kaiju to find the ultimate monster.

Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher is in development for the Nintendo Switch. It'll go on sale in Japan in 2022. No overseas release plans were detailed. Shin Ultraman, a new "reboot" film from Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno, is in theaters in Japan.

Return To Monkey Island Gameplay Trailer Art FeatThere aren't many popular game franchises with a release schedule as inconsistent as that of Monkey Island. The original game, a LucasArts classic, released way back in 1990. Since then, new iterations seem to come in waves, with many years stretching between. It's been more than a decade since the last game, but finally, fans will be able to play the next adventure of Guybrush Threepwood soon. Return to Monkey Island boasts a new art style, which you can see today in its first-ever gameplay trailer. Return to Monkey Island is the sixth game in the series, and ol' Guybrush has yet to figure out the secret of the titular island. However, the trailer suggests that he's edging closer to the mystery. The gameplay in Return to Monkey Island looks about the same as ever. Like its predecessors, Return is a graphic point-and-click adventure game, bookended by hilarious cutscenes and 2D swashbuckling. There will no doubt be plenty of puzzles to solve, as well as wacky ch...

Pac-Man World Re-Pac is a remake of a beloved classic platformer from the '90s. Pac-Man World was originally a PlayStation title from 1999. Back then it was easy to consider it a riff on Nintendo's Super Mario 64. But these days, it's rarer to see a 3D platformer like this. In fact, there's a large audience waiting for more games like Pac-Man World Re-Pac.   The premise of this remake is fairly simple.      Mega Man Battle Network Legacy CollectionMore Mega Man games are coming to PC in 2023. Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is on its way, and it contains 10 different titles from the series. The Mega Man Battle Network games are perhaps some of the more interesting spin-offs from the series. As opposed to being your usual action platformer, these games do something different.
