Project L's senior director Tom Cannon said the team wanted to carry on Riot's tradition of making games accessible for anyone, regardless of where they live or how much money they could spend on video games, and while Cannon didn't say it, the news naturally that means the game will likely have microtransactions too. Cannon offered no release date for Project L, but did say the team has moved on from establishing the basics and is now designing Champions and new mechanics to help expand the core gameplay.

Overwatch 2 skins survey did not include final pricing, Blizzard says

August 1, 2022 An Overwatch spokesperson says the prices in the survey were randomized per user and do not reflect the final pricing for Overwatch 2 skins.

After the ruckus around Diablo Immortal microtransactions, you'd hope that Activision Blizzard would calm down with pricing on its next game, but it's possible Overwatch 2 skins could individually cost as much as $45 - according to a new survey.

Among the many Overwatch 2 changes coming to the multiplayer game sequel, Blizzard previously confirmed that it was doing away with loot boxes in favour of battle passes and direct purchases - much like other online games such as Fortnite. However, Blizzard hasn't yet spelled out how Overwatch 2 microtransactions and the store prices will work.

According to a new survey reportedly sent out (as spotted by @Portergauge on Twitter), Blizzard seems to be gauging prices for skins, bundles, and weapon charms. While these are by no means the final prices, the survey asks if players are prepared to pay $44.99 for a single Mythic skin, $24.99 for a Legendary skin, $29.99 for a Legendary bundle, or $9.99 for a weapon charm.

How much have I spent on League of Legends?

Want to know 'How much have I spent on League of Legends?' Riot Games' hugely successful MOBA is a free PC game, but if you ask any avid fan if that's the case, you'll no doubt receive a wry laugh in response. The 160-strong champion pool is diverse and wonderful; each character can be purchased with currency earned while playing. The premium cosmetics, however, are bought with real-world money.

These cosmetics - skins, mainly - can be purchased directly using something called RP, purchasable in bulk using your hard-earned cash. These skins change the base look of the character you're playing, with premium cosmetics adding completely new effects, voice lines, and animations. There's also a battle pass that can be bought using RP, this rewards you the more you play, so may seem like the most efficient way to spend your money. This guide will give you the information needed to find out exactly how much you've spent in League of Legends.

Sonic Frontiers Steam tagged as a hardcore adult game

The Sonic Frontiers release date is still unconfirmed but fans on Steam are already having fun with it, albeit in a different way than Sega intends. Unless the publisher is going in a freakishly adult direction, Sonic Frontiers Steam tags are a little out of control.

Valve launched community-created Steam tags back in 2014 and things haven't always gone smoothly. While they can be very helpful, checking the tags for pretty much any Steam game often yields some odd inclusions - Elden Ring as a relaxing walking simulator, anyone?

Heading over to the tags on the Sonic Frontiers Steam page, users are clearly out of control. The game has been tagged for 'hentai', 'psychological horror', 'nudity', and perhaps more shockingly of all, 'Souls-like'. Checking SteamDB reveals other tags such as 'gore', 'sexual content', 'NSFW', 'horror', and most interestingly of all, 'female protagonist'.

VPN browser extensions – our top picks for 2022

Wondering which VPN browser extensions are the best to use in 2022? It's a good question. After all, being able to easily flick the VPN on and off from within your browser means you get to enjoy being discrete, while also being able to quickly switch back to your native connection whenever it is convenient to do so - not to mention the added ease-of-use for split-tunnelling.

So to make your life easier, we've written this article on the best VPN browser extensions. Of course, there's not one single VPN provider who has some kind of magic, all-encompassing extension that works for all browsers no matter what, so we've put it upon ourselves to narrow down the best VPN extensions for each of the major browsers.

Whether you have a soft spot for Google's own Chrome, are drawn to the vulpine qualities of Mozilla's Firefox, enjoy the sweet internet music of Opera, consider Safari as the apple of your eye, or even live on the edge and browse with Edge, we've got a VPN recommendation for each and every one of them.

Starfield leads Borderlands star to dump influencer girlfriend

The Starfield release date isn't until 2023 now but it's already putting a strain on relationships, apparently. Actor and comedian Bobby Lee - who is in the upcoming Borderlands movie - recently broke up with his girlfriend, influencer Khalyla, and one of the reasons he gave was the imminent Starfield launch.

Bobby Lee and Khalyla split in July, as they announced on their joint podcast. Lee, who plays new character Larry in the Borderlands movie, joined podcaster Ryan Sickler for an interview and explained some of the reasons for the breakup.

One of the reasons Lee cites is that "Starfield is going to come out in about eight months" - possibly, especially if you believe fan theories. After explaining that it's the next game from the creators of Fallout and Skyrim, Lee states that "I know when Starfield comes out I'm going to be playing that thing 16 hours a day."

Multiversus tier list: best characters ranked

Are you looking for a Multiversus tier list? The Warner Bros fighting game is currently in open beta, with many players gaining access to its colourful cast of characters for the first time. Soon, we will know who the most powerful characters are, from DC Superheroes such as Batman and Wonder Woman to Cartoon Network favourites like Finn the Human and Steven Universe. We even have throwback characters from Warner Bros' back catalogue of shows acquired over the years, including Shaggy and Velma from Scooby Doo.

With such an illustrious gathering of fighters, a Multiversus tier list was inevitable. Judging by other competitive multiplayer games, ranking these fighters goes beyond looking at their individual abilities. Multiversus focuses on team-based combat, with each fighter broken down into roles such as Bruiser and Tank. In order to create the definitive Multiversus tier list, we looked at how well each fighter interacts with their partner, in addition to how good they are on their own.

Logitech have launched the Aurora Collection, a set of bright, customisable PC gaming peripherals built to be "gender inclusive". Fortunately, that seems to be more than just pastel colours and cynical "For girls" marketing – the G375 headset, G705 mouse, and the G715 and G713 keyboards are all proper gaming-spec accessories, and they've been crafted by mostly female design and engineering teams based on feedback from women PC players.

The G705, then, is a wireless mouse designed for smaller hands, while the G375 headset – also wireless – is proportioned to fit smaller heads and has more space in the earcups to accommodate earrings. It's safe to say I'm not the Aurora Collection's target audience, but having used the G705, the G375, and the G715 wireless keyboard as my main peripherals for a few days, I can say all three are pretty swish playthings regardless of how you identify. What's more, their light, soft-cornered aesthetic is a nice break from the blacks, greys and harsh angles that have become standard design language for gaming gear. Anyone who's ever cringed their face inside out at a peripheral resembling Megatron's running shoe may indeed find these more to their tastes.

Cygames Metal Max

Metal Max: Wild West may have been cancelled, but like one of its hardy survivors, the Metal Max series lives on. Granblue Fantasy developer Cygames acquired the rights to the series from Kadokawa Games, announcing the pickup on July 29, 2022. Along with the IP, series creator Hiroshi Miyaoka also moved to Cygames to continue shepherding the brand as a game director. Alongside producer Kenichiro Takaki (creator of Kandagawa Jet Girls and producer on Senran Kagura), Miyaoka will lead development on a new, console-based title in the franchise.

Right now the game doesn't actually have a name beyond Metal Max Project. Cygames debuted a logo for the for the project that featured pixel-style renditions of the various Metal Max lead characters.

Cygames Metal Max

Cygames' announcement commits to "creating a new future" for the now 30-year-old series. Miyaoka said that the rights transfer represents a great opportunity for Metal Max. He thanked Cygames for picking up the IP, and Kadokawa Games for agreeing to send it off.

At the moment, Miyaoka says that development on the Cygames Metal Max title is still in the "just delusions" stage, but they hope that what they put together will "touch the hearts" of both Metal Max fans and RPG fans in general. For his part, Takagi spoke about his familiarity with the series, dating back to his school days. He feels that the challenge of creating an IP that will be loved and passed down for generations" is an industry-wide challenge, including one faced by Cygames. The acquisition aligns with Cygames' mission: "To create the best content".

Metal Max Project is in development at Cygames. The last Kadokawa Games project in the series, Metal Max Xeno Reborn, is available on PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Check out Siliconera's review.

Stella of the End is a "kinetic novel", a subtype of visual novel that eschews gameplay conventions like multiple endings. Some of Key's other works, like Planetarian and Harmonia, are also classified as kinetic novels.

The game's set in the future, in a time when humanity is forced to live in the shadows of the machines it created. Earth is now under the control of a group of machines that gained sentience and created the long-theorized "singularity".  "Transporters" shuttle goods between human settlements, braving the elements, hostile machines, and human bandits. One day, a transporter named Jude Grey receives an odd request: To transport Filia, an android in the form of a young girl. Developed as a substitute family member, the android is somehow unaffected by the Singularity Machines. The transporter and the girl set out on their journey, trying to make their way to a space elevator. Rumor has it that androids who make it to the space elevator's summit can be made human. Is it true?

Stella of the End will release for PCs in Japan on September 30, 2022. No international release plans have been announced as of yet. Loopers, a Key kinetic novel announced alongside Stella of the End, was released in English on June 2, 2022.

Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier Weiss Nero

Square Enix and Ateam unveiled an Advanced Shinra Pack for Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier, which includes skins based on Weiss and Nero from FFVII Remake Intergrade. Additionally, the cosmetic packs include skins resembling Rosso and Shelke from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, as well as a few other accessories. Players can purchase the packs using either 300 Shinra Credits or using five Advanced Shinra Pack Tickets. The cosmetics will be available until August 31, 2022, at 01:59 UTC.

Notably, the Weiss skin has a special feature that unlocks new effects with every duplicate skin obtained. The second level will unlock the alternate skin "Weiss Empowered". The third level unlocks a new kill effect "The Immaculate", which activates every time you kill or down an opponent.

Both the Weiss and Nero skins are available for the male and female character body types. Rosso and Shelke, however, are only available to equip for female characters. Furthermore, the cosmetic pack also includes items such as Weiss' blades, Nero's facemask, a Deepground Soldier skin, and various Deepground-themed accessories. Finally, the game is also hosting a six-day login bonus campaign where characters can obtain up to 20 Advanced Shinra Pack Tickets and two banners featuring Weiss and Nero.

You can get a look at the Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier Weiss and Nero skins below:

Final Fantasy The First Soldier is available to play on iOS and Android devices. The Advanced Shinra Packs (Weiss) will be available until August 31, 2022. Each pack costs 300 Shinra Credits or five Advanced Shinra Pack Tickets.

Sea Of Thieves Season Seven Name And Decorate Ships 1Players have sailed in Sea of Thieves for more than four years now, fighting skeletons and customizing ships. And all that time an important feature has been left out. But with Season Seven, pirates and pirate captains will finally be able to name and decorate their own ships — as seen in a Sea of Thieves content update video that landed today. The amount of customization options is welcome. You could apply color and detail on every ship, from the sails to the cannons. However, as customized as ships can be, Sea of Thieves has never let you actually name the vessel you could spend countless hours sailing. That is set to change. Season Seven of Sea of Thieves lets the captain bestow a ship with a name. For the galleon, as seen in the video, you can see the name above the captain's quarters and located on the back. The decorative piece with the name is large enough that most ships straying close will be able to read it before sending a volley of cannon balls your way.   ...

Overwatch 2 PremiumIt looks like Blizzard might price Overwatch 2 skins at a very high premium. Initially reported by PCGamesN, users who took part in a survey for Overwatch 2 had to answer questions asking if they're willing to pay $45 USD for a mythic skin (the highest premium), $25 USD for a legendary skin, and $30 USD for a legendary bundle. With Blizzard's current track record, some are wondering if Overwatch 2 will be consumer-friendly and not a money sink with infrequent updates. However, it's important to note that these aren't set prices. Surveys often contain multiple different premiums. Many changes are coming to Overwatch 2 from the prior iteration, though, the largest of which is the transition to a free-to-play model. Alongside this change is the complete removal of loot boxes from the game.   Blizzard backlash yet again… Even without the concerns from the Overwatch 2 survey, Blizzard has dealt with its fair share of criticism. After a rough showing at Bl...

Project L will be free to play and announces IllaoiProject L, a fighting game set in the League of Legends (LoL) universe, was originally announced back in 2019. It's an assist-based tag-team fighter that is being developed by fighting game veterans, including brothers Tom and Tony Cannon. The two brothers are the founders of the Evolution Championship Series (EVO), and they even invented a rollback netcode system known as GCPO. In an update, the team has revealed that Project L will be free-to-play when it launches. Tom Cannon talks about the free-to-play model and the current state of development in a new developer diary. He makes clear that despite being free-to-play, Project L will be respectful of players' time and wallets, which should alleviate some concerns about monetization. Many of Riot's other games are also free-to-play, so this move isn't too surprising.   When it comes to the development of Project L, Riot Games is currently finishing the core mechanics and developing new champions. On top of that, it'...

Cyberpunk Edgerunners Official Trailer NetflixThe Netflix anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, was revealed months before Cyberpunk 2077 hit the market. Excitement for the animated series was likely a bit higher before the game launched as a broken mess. But leave it to Netflix and the series creator Studio Trigger to keep their heads high as they surfed the wave of negativity. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a separate story in Night City, and today we got to see some of it in its official trailer. It's looking good. I'm throwing out a content warning for this one: the official trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is not for the kiddos. It opens up with the kind of blood fountains that would make Quentin Tarantino blush. The show is clearly cyberpunk to the core, so expect wanton violence, course language, cyborg nudity, and, oh, wanton violence.   Beyond those bits, the trailer introduces us to some of the show's unruly cast. The story is told from the perspectives of the Edgerunner Crew, led by David. There's ...

Elden Ring Malenia 1.0At this point, we all know the pain that Malenia, Blade of Miquella has caused players. In terms of difficulty, she's one of the trickier fights in the game. That's not all too surprising considering she's an entirely optional fight towards the end of the game. With that said, it's hard to imagine Malenia being any harder than she currently is. However, dataminers have discovered that Malenia was originally going to be a much harder boss in Elden Ring's pre-patched 1.0 version. Elden Ring dataminer kotn3l posted a video showcasing Malenia from a 1.0 version of the game, which is only available via Elden Ring's on console. Along with a host of other changes, it seems that Malenia's boss encounter plays out quite differently. The usual stuff is here, she still siphons health with each attack, has two phases, and plenty of her iconic moves remain. Her behavior is very different, though, and she even has an alternate form of her Waterfowl Dance att...
