Minecraft potions guide: every potion and its use

Minecraft potions exist in the blocky survival game to aid you in difficult moments or give you interesting and useful status effects. For example, the potion of fire resistance can stop you dying to lava. Meanwhile, a potion of night vision can not only help you see in the dark, but also underwater. Then, there's the very important potion of weakness, which does what it says on the tin, but is also used to cure a Zombie Villager of its… undeadness.

While you might think Minecraft enchantments are all you need to boost your survival rates in the middle of a Minecraft night, don't underestimate the power of a well-timed splash potion, or the chug of a strength potion. Here, we're going to tell you every potion, its use, and its ingredients, but you'll also want to check out our guide to the Minecraft brewing stand to find out how to make them.

The last time we saw Amicia and Hugo de Rune in A Plague Tale: Innocence, the two homeless orphans were escaping the clutches of the Inquisition, trying desperately to find a cure for the cursed Prima Macula in Hugo's blood. They were also fighting for their lives against thousands of bloodthirsty rats eager to devour them. These two have lived through more danger and trauma than anyone should have in a thousand lifetimes, and after the first game's sort-of happy-ish ending, it got me thinking: when will these kids ever catch a break?

Turns out the answer is never. Asobo's follow-up A Plague Tale: Requiem is just as gory and bleak as its predecessor and as the siblings continue to battle through a violent world that wants them dead, they'll both face difficult moral decisions in the name of survival. Oh, and there are more rats. Like, a lot more rats.

the sims 4 project rene

The Sims developer Maxis is working on what it's calling "the next-generation Sims game and creative platform". Its working title is Project Rene. Based on the details released during EA's "Behind the Sims Summit" stream event on October 18, 2022, the game is likely to be the next entry in the mainline Sims series. However, rather than being called The Sims 5 (or something similar), it being in the early stages of development precludes official confirmation beyond "Project Rene". It's a similar situation to when The Sims 4 was first being teased. At the time, EA only referred to that game as Project Olympus before formally confirming that it was The Sims 4 later on.

Speaking of The Sims 4, that game is now officially a free-to-play title. Players can download the base game free of charge on Windows PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Mac. Expansions and DLC are still sold separately, though. Members of the EA Play and EA Play Pro subscription services are entitled to special members-only bundles of the game. The EA Play Edition of The Sims 4 includes the Get To Work expansion pack, while the EA Play Pro Edition includes that and the Toddler Stuff pack. Players who previously bought the base game receive the Desert Luxe Kit DLC as a gift. Maxis assured fans that while the game is going free-to-play, it is not the end of further content plans for The Sims 4. Further additions will debut in the future.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIBBm7tWs_U

For more on Project Rene, check out Vice-President of Franchise Creative for The Sims Lyndsay Pearson's presentation on the stream archive below. It kicks off at about the 26-minute mark.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmm6h6bHD3o

The name Project Rene is said to represent Maxis' renewed commitment to The Sims. Showing off some in-development footage, Pearson demonstrated some detailed furniture placement and modification tools. Players can, for example, change the shapes of in-game objects, deciding the placement of individual pillows on a couch. Players can also group together items and designs and publish them as a set for sharing. Cross-device functionality was also teased, with a player decorating the same room in real-time across both a PC and a smartphone. Pearson called the experience "Same Experience, Different Screen". Pearson said that Project Rene is "years away" from release and cautioned fans not to hold their breath, as the game is still very early in development. However, she promised more updates over time, along with behind-the-scenes looks as development progressed.

Maxis closed out the presentation by teasing the implementation of infant sims in the game, coming in a The Sims 4 expansion slated for release in 2023.

The Sims 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Mac. Project Rene is in development.

Warhammer 40,000 Darktide

The Warhammer 40,000 franchise is well-known for its absurd, maximalist scale. It takes place tens of thousands of years in "the grim darkness of the far future, where there is only war". A galaxy-spanning fascist empire ruled by a living corpse wars endlessly against equally unpleasant hordes of aliens, heretics, and mutants. Fatshark's new gameWarhammer 40,000: Darktide, manages to capture this sense of vastness not by expanding a player's perspective, but by reducing its scope. You're not witnessing the battles of massive armies, but struggling to stay alive against the hordes with three buddies at your side.

Those acquainted with Fatshark's work on the Warhammer: Vermintide games should find Darktide familiar. Like the two titles set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a four-player co-op experience pitting a quartet of players against hordes of enemies. The main difference is the presence of guns: Every character has a ranged weapon drawn from Warhammer 40k's deep arsenal of crazy sci-fi-tinged firearms. But don't call it a shooter! Everyone's got guns, but when the crowds close in, out comes a wicked array of melee weapons, ranging from spiked pipes and sharpened trench shovels to psychic swords and Thunder Hammers. This "hybrid combat" approach pretty much ensures that there's a time and a place for either.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GR7I2D6ENrA

Players can choose from four different classes of character to start: Veteran, Zealot, Psyker, and Ogryn. But rather than drawing from Vermintide's system of named heroes and careers, Darktide lets you create your own character. The character creation process is surprisingly in-depth. After you choose your character class, you'll be able to choose elements of their background and backstory, as well as from a selection of personalities available. These personalities amount, basically, to profiles that determine how your character sounds when they interact with the team and the NPCs. Your Veteran Sharpshooter could be a stern and determined member of the Imperial Guard, or a cutthroat cynic just waiting to be hung out to dry by uncaring superiors. Male and female options are available for every class, too, except for the Ogryns, who all look like someone gave the Hulk too many steroid injections.

Don't expect much in-depth storytelling with these characters, though. This is less an RPG in the vein of Mass Effect and more a co-op action game in the vein of Left 4 Dead, and your act of creation is more a function of choosing your flavor voice than determining the shape of the game's story. That story involves the "Hive City" of Tertius and its battle against legions of heretics backed by the cult of Chaos. The game involves the writing of legendary Warhammer 40k author Dan Abnett, though I didn't see much in the way of plot during the period of the closed beta. Each of the four available missions was in fact relatively perfunctory, a simple set of objectives to barrel towards for the next 20 minutes. That Warhammer 40k texture shined through in the character interactions and mission chatter from NPCs. I'd hear my Ogryn character asking my Zealot teammate if the "Emp-rah of Mankind" really was God, or listen to a Sharpshooter that lived through the destruction of Cadia recount the horrors they'd seen.

And of course, all of that was undergirded by some engaging co-op slaughter. Despite being almost uniformly urban and industrial in nature, the environments of Darktide's closed beta manage a surprising amount of variety. Sewers give way to rickety catwalks and barricaded urban plazas, while interiors look like a cursed fusion of a gothic cathedral and a Cold War prison. All these spaces are teeming with myriad enemies. Large waves of Chaos cultists crash against your squad like a ram against a sturdy wall, while larger threats like shield-bearing Ogryns or corrupted Guardsmen force your team to prioritize threats and mix up their tactics.

Each character class also plays quite differently. The Veteran likes to keep their distance, with their perks and abilities focused on enhancing their guns and landing precision headshots on priority targets. The Zealot likes to crash in and fight at close range with rapid-fire weapons and unstoppable melee swipes. The Psyker can level a crowd with a shockwave or pop the heads of tougher foes with psychic energy. The Ogryn can charge straight in, opening a path or moving to a friend's aid with a bull rush. Their extra-large weapons also stagger and throw around smaller enemies, making them ideal to go toe-to-toe with the more menacing armored melee elites.

Other than the kinds of technical hiccups that can be expected from a closed beta (I was disconnected from sessions a few times in the twelve or so hours I was able to play), Warhammer 40,000: Darktide makes a good first impression. That said, I do hope they'll retune the grind for cosmetic unlocks and new equipment to be a bit more rewarding. It took me at least a dozen sessions before I even earned a new shirt for my Ogryn, and even then I didn't earn a new ranged weapon choice for any of my characters.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will launch on November 30, 2022, on PC. An Xbox Series X|S launch will happen "shortly after".

digimon world next 0rder order switch

The Nintendo Switch version of Digimon World -Next Order- International Edition (stylized as 0rder instead of Order) will come out on February 22, 2023 in Japan. The game first launched on PS Vita in 2016, then launched for PS4 globally in 2017. In Japan the PS4 version was called the International Edition. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

Some new elements to the Switch version of Digimon World -Next Order- International Edition will include a new Beginner Mode, as well as the option to run. Bandai Namco didn't confirm if the new additions will be retroactively added to the existing PS4 versions of the game. Bandai has also not made any official statements regarding a western release of the Switch edition.

Like other Digimon World games, it is an open-world RPG in which you command a Digimon partner. You can also fuse two Digimon together through ExE Evolution to make a stronger one. One of Next Order's innovations was the addition of a second companion, for a total of two Digimon in combat. Players would also feed, raise, and train their Digimon to increase their battle strength. The plot of the game focuses on your effort to save the Digital World from Machinedramons wreaking havoc. Over 200 Digimon from across the franchise are featured. So far, aside from Beginner Mode and running, the Switch port does not have any key differences from the previous versions.

Digimon World -Next Order- International Edition is available on the PS4 and it will come out on the Nintendo Switch on February 22, 2023 in Japan.

The next DLC expansion for Stranger of Paradise, called Wanderer of the Rift, releases next week, and Square Enix has detailed what to expect from it. When it launches on October 26, 2022, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin players will get a chance to go a few rounds with the iconic Final Fantasy character Gilgamesh.

Check out the launch trailer for the Stranger of Paradise Wanderer of the Rift DLC below or on YouTube at this link.

https://twitter.com/fforigin/status/1582174875057266689

The Stranger of Paradise Wanderer of the Rift expansion details Gilgamesh's arrival in Jack's world. It also shows off some of the other updates coming with the DLC. Jack and his friends will be able to explore the Rift Labyrinth, a new mode that features short, randomly constructed dungeons. These dungeons will allow players to have more varied experiences playing beyond the story campaigns. Playing through the Rift Labyrinth will also unlock a new playable job: Blue Mage. Like the Blue Mages of Final Fantasy games past, Jack will be able to learn enemy abilities and use them as his own. Jack can charge abilities to make them more powerful, or enhance them using his MP. Jack's time in the Rift Labyrinth will also unlock the Dimension Bringer command ability, which slows enemies in an area and causes the damage the player inflicts to increase each time an action ability is used.

Wanderer of the Rift will also add a new difficulty level to Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. The new "Gilgamesh" difficulty will raise enemy levels even further and add powerful "Chaotic Monsters" to missions. Playing on Gilgamesh difficulty also unlocks new relic equipment that comes with Summon Blessings that add special effects and improve character capabilities based on their value. These blessings can be obtained from a new NPC, the Tonberry Blacksmith. Finally, "Monster Bell" items allow players to instantly summon monsters to aid them in combat. New monsters can be unlocked by completing special events with them and increasing their affinity through conversations, feeding them, and using items.

Check out some screenshots from the DLC.

Modern Warfare 2 leak Grand Prix map could returnThe Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta allowed players to get their hands on the upcoming title for the first time. There was an array of playlists available including traditional 6v6 modes, Ground War, a third-person mode and more. However, one thing was noticeably missing. You may have been expecting to see a Marina Bay Grand Prix map, which the development team revealed in the summer. Since then, Infinity Ward has removed all traces of it without any notice. Now, a new leak claims that the Grand Prix map is coming back, and it could be available to play with the launch of Modern Warfare 2. Marina Bay Grand Prix was first revealed when Infinity Ward shared some of the first details about Modern Warfare 2 during the Call of Duty League Championship Weekend live stream. Fans were treated to a fly through of the Grand Prix track map, which even had moving cars. The map was supposed to be played at the Call of Duty: Next event back in September, and it was expected to feature in the bet...

Silent Hill Showcase Leaked Feature ImageThe Silent Hill showcase is set to air later today. After years of waiting for news on what's next for the franchise, all questions are about to be put to rest. But as always with long-kept secrets, the answer usually gets out there before the time comes. And this is exactly what seems to have happened earlier today, as the contents of the Silent Hill showcase have seemingly leaked. It's always a bit annoying to see surprises spoiled, but most of what we know isn't a shock at this point. But in terms of how the Silent Hill showcase content got leaked, it's rather silly. The description on the YouTube page for the Silent Hill Transmission included a placeholder title for Silent Hill 2 on the PlayStation store. This is already fairly damning evidence of a Silent Hill 2 remake or remaster. However, more titles were found buried in the embed code on the video.   The titles in the embed code include Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill: Ascension, and Return to Silent Hil...
