Can I tell you a secret? I'm terrible at Battle Brothers. I'm still terrible at Battle Brothers, even after playing it on and off for a few years. It's a bit like Blood Bowl, oddly, in that it's all about mitigating risks. And like Blood Bowl, despite having a decent head for tactics and planning on the fly, I am hopeless at sticking to them when I see a new idea, thus: terrible. At it.

But since an update last March looks likely to be its last big one, it's about time to get over myself and gave it a proper look as a complete package. It's long overdue, in fact. Although I still struggle to fully enjoy it, Battle Brothers is an unusually good tactical game, and the one to beat for the burgeoning subgenre of mercenary management sims. That's partly because it sticks so resolutely to its guns. Where Bannerlord faltered by throwing extraneous stuff unrelated to the core combat that should have defined it, and other open world games typically take a varied but shallow "do and be everything" approach, Battle Brothers resists dilution of that core concept.

Alfred is one of the first characters you meet in Fire Emblem Engage and, well, the first time I met him I wasn't impressed! He didn't seem like a bad kid, to be fair. He just seemed so overly enthusiastic. He, like the twins Clanne and Framme, emphasized how he kept visiting. He seemed overly desperate in some ways, both with regards to activities and relationships. However, it's only after completing certain Fire Emblem Engage support conversation lines and beating the game that I realized just how good Alfred secretly is.

Editor's Note: There will be Fire Emblem Engage spoilers for Alfred and other characters below.

Alfred Turns into a Shockingly Heartfelt Fire Emblem Engage Character

In many ways, early on Intelligent Systems is trying to impart how important Alfred is in Fire Emblem Engage. He consistently supports Alear. Even from the very beginning, he has your back. When things turn dire, your background is called into question, and the truth behind the Fell Dragon Sombron and his children comes out, he never hesitates. The developers also seem to make a concentrated effort to show how Alfred is always hustling. He's constantly training. He can speak with other Fire Emblem Engage characters who are members of the royal families, with some of those Support conversations getting into diplomacy and future plans. He's trying to do all he can for Alear particularly. He's too active. Too overburdened. Too nice.

And then, if you go through the Alfred and Celine Fire Emblem Engage Support conversation or pay attention to her chats with Fogado, it hits you. Something is wrong with Alfred. But even so, he's still fighting on the front lines for his family, his friends, his kingdom, and the world.

It isn't just that. Intelligent Systems could have left us with those crumbs and left us wondering if he'll be fine once the war is over and he can recover and relax. But Fire Emblem games have a habit of showing "what happened next" for characters after the ending, and Engage is no exception. That's when the gut punch comes. Alfred dies. Young. Even though he achieves his goals, he doesn't really get the time to enjoy them. The only way to "save" Alfred in Fire Emblem Engage and get him a happier end is to have Alear enter into an S-Rank relationship with him.

Alfred Turns into a Shockingly Heartfelt Fire Emblem Engage Character

This revelation adds so much more weight to all of Alfred's other actions and interactions in Fire Emblem Engage. Of course he'd idolize Boucheron, who is incredibly strong and healthy. Yes, he'd be constantly training, in the hopes of staying as fit as possible. Absolutely, Alfred would go out of his way often to try and make Alear's life better or spend time with people, because he wants to leave good impressions and memories behind. Alfred is making the most of what he has. He is appreciating what he can do while he can. He's doing what he can to leave his mark.

I'd also say the revelation is especially shocking if you weren't paying as much attention due to how many characters there are in Fire Emblem Engage. The idea of him being ill when he was young isn't thrust in people's faces. The unit's stats don't hint at it. He's perfectly energetic and fine in pretty much every Support conversation. I didn't see his A-rank conversation with Celine before the ending, only hers with Fogado, so I figured he completely recovered. It just hit me, and I didn't expect it. But then, I also appreciate that it was a more subtle reveal and doesn't even start to come up unless people get close to the Firene royal family.

In short, there's more to Alfred than people might expect. They only will get to know that if they take the time to get to know him. If they do, they'll get that foreshadowing and further insight into his character. They'll know more about what drives him to be who he is. And, if they go through Fire Emblem Engage a second time, they might start looking to see if there are clues that hinted at his condition and story arc sooner.

Fire Emblem Engage is available for the Nintendo Switch.

More video game shirts are heading to Uniqlo, courtesy of a Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) collection. In early March 2023, five will appear. All of them are tied to games like Katamari Damacy and SimCity, while still referencing the museum. Each one will cost $19.90. [Thanks, Keita Takahashi!]

Here's the full list of video game MoMA Uniqlo shirts that will be available. Each one will be available in sizes XXS through XXXL. They are all going to be 100% cotton. Not to mention all five are unisex designs.

Here's a closer look at every shirt. The Katamari Damacy shirt with the Prince rolling up art supplies, SimCity one, and Pac-Man design with a MoMA maze all feature designs on the front and the games' logos on the back. The Space Invaders and Tetris ones feature game logos on the front and MoMA-related designs on the back.

A new Re:Zero Rem figure is coming out in 2023, and it features her holding a younger version of herself as a child.

People will see double with the latest Good Smile Company Re:Zero Rem figure. It announced an S-Fire Rem that features her holding herself as a child. It will come to Japan in September 2023. The North American release will follow in November 2023. It will cost ¥22,000/$163.99.

Both outfits are period-accurate in this 1/7th scale figure. The adult version of Rem is wearing her normal maid uniform. Meanwhile, the child version of her self is wearing the same kimono she did in the Oni village where she grew up. It will be about nine inches tall. Also, as an S-Fire figure, it is designed to look both "vibrant" and realistic.

Here's a closer look at Rem and... Rem.
[gallery columns="5" size="full" ids="949460,949461,949462,949463,949464" link="file"]

Rem, as well as her twin sister Ram, is a common subject when it comes to figures of characters from the series. There are SD figures, for example. Nendoroid and Nendoroid Dolls also showed up. There are also life-size figures of her in a maid uniform or kimono.

The Re:Zero figure of Rem holding a child version of herself will appear in September 2023 in Japan and November 2023 in North America. Pre-orders are open until March 23, 2023. The Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- anime is available on Crunchyroll, while Yen Press handled the light novel and manga adaptations.

Darkstalkers Felicia One-Shot Comic Coming in April

Udon Entertainment announced it will release a one-shot Darkstalkers: Felicia comic. Tom Seeley is writing and Tovio Rogers is drawing the issue. It will appear in April 26, 2023. There will be six different cover options for it available, with two being Udon exclusives.

Some vague details about this Darkstalkers comic also came out. These hint at some of the other characters who will appear in the 32-page issue. Felicia is apparently trying to prove her "lycanthropic best friend" is innocent of a crime. This could be referring to Jon Talbain, who is a werewolf who appeared throughout the series. However, she doesn't have unlimited time to do so. Udon noted "a certain gun-toting red-hooded girl" is after Felicia's friend. This seems to very obviously reference Baby Bonnie Hood.

As usual, Udon will offer multiple Darkstalkers: Felicia covers. Here's the full list of the other options, as well as their artists and prices. The Reiq covers will only be available through Udon..

  • CVR A: Tovio Rogers - $4.99
  • CVR B: Ice-Mio $4.99
  • CVR C: Blank Sketch - $5.99
  • CVR D: Rian Gonzales - $20
  • CVR X1: Reiq - $20
  • CVR X2: Reiq - $50 (Note: Only 250 will be available.)

And here's how all six of those will look.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe Merry Magoland Subgames Detailed

There's a new Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe trailer, and it focuses entirely on the Subgames, minigames that appear in Merry Magoland. These are brief diversions hosted in a park run by Manager Magolor. These can be played by up to four people. However, as usual, a Nintendo Switch Online account is required for online multiplayer.

Here's the full "Welcome to Merry Magoland" Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe trailer. It begins by showing the park and introducing Manager Magolor. He brings up a Stamp Rally, with people able to earn them by playing. Each of the Subgames are highlighted in the video. Eight of them return from the original Wii version of the game. For example, the Samurai Kirby and Ninja Dojo both return. So does Scope Shot. People can also have Magolor act as a guide and take them on a Tour through certain minigames. The one used as an example sees Kirby on the Draw, Samurai Kirby, Crackity Hack, and Booming Blasters.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe will come to the Nintendo Switch on February 24, 2023. Kirby's Return to Dream Land appeared on the Wii.

Featured What Is The Max Level In Skyrim ExplainedSkyrim is one of the most open RPGs ever made. You can tackle any quest at any moment and easily get overpowered before even having a dent in the main storyline. The main question is, what is the max level in Skyrim? Well, it is a bit complicated to explain and depends on the version of Skyrim you're playing. However, we'll tackle everything you need to know about the max level in Skyrim. What is the level cap in Skyrim? Image via Bethesda Game Studios "Vanilla" Skyrim (pre-patch 1.9) only allows the player to climb to level 81. This means you can't get all of the perks in the tree. With the introduction of Legendary Skills, however, players now have the option to level up infinitely. To truly max out your character, you need to get your character to level 252 — achieving every perk in the game. Regarding subsequent iterations of the game, there is no max level, as you can keep resetting your skills to level up indefinitely. Don't worry: Skyrim has a system that scale...

Amd Ryzen X3d 7000 Release Date Pricing Performance Gaming 7800x3dAMD launched its Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 Series on the new AM5 socket last fall to mixed reception. The performance impressed, but the initial thermal results and costly platform pricing did not lead to the sales the company may have hoped for. AMD had to drop prices, and even go as far as subsidizing free DDR5 at select retailers. The downturn in the market definitely played a factor in weak demand for AMD's Ryzen 7000 Series, but many gamers also held off for the X3D lineup reveal, pricing, and release dates. AMD revealed the Ryzen 7000 X3D lineup in January at CES, but pricing and the release dates remained a mystery until now. Pricing for the 7800X3D is $449, the 7900X3D is $599, and the 7950X3D is $699. Take a look at the original Ryzen 7000 Series lineup, and these are surprisingly in line with the launch prices of the Ryzen 7000 Series. AMD has effectively shifted the original lineup down to replace those price points with the V-Cache lineup. Although not cheap compared to Ryzen ...
