According to Nintendo's regular Consolidated Financial Highlights report released on February 7, 2023, the online shooter sequel sold just over 10 million units since its release in September 2022. As of December 31, 2022 Splatoon 3 sales marked 10.13 million units sold. By comparison, it took Splatoon 2 nine months to pass 6 million copies sold, from its release in July 2017 to the end of Nintendo's financial year in March 2018. The Nintendo report covers the nine-month period ending in December 31, 2022. That's why the latest Splatoon 3 sales figure doesn't include sales numbers from January 2023. The sales numbers, however, include all copies sold across physical and digital storefronts, as well as copies included as part of a bundle. In the April to December 2022 period, Splatoon 3 was the 2nd place sales leader of all Nintendo first-party games. The leaders were Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which count as one entry. In 3rd place was Nintendo Switch Sports, which sold 7.9 million copies. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 placed 5th with 1.5 million copies sold, placing behind soccer title Mario Strikers Battle League. Upon its release, Splatoon 3 broke sales records as one of the fastest-selling Nintendo games ever, moving nearly 8 million copies in just 21 days from its release. If things are looking rosy for the Splatoon franchise, things are looking a little more difficult for Nintendo as a whole. In the same report and a subsequent investor call, Nintendo cut its revenue outlook for the coming year. It said that it missed its hardware sales targets for the end of 2022, and reduced its sales forecast for the Switch in 2023 from 19 million consoles sold to about 18 million. Splatoon 3 is available on the Nintendo Switch. The next scheduled Splatfest event will kick off on February 11, 2023, and focus on chocolate ahead of Valentine's Day. Nintendo announced that it will hold the first 2023 Nintendo Direct on February 8, 2023. It announced the presentation on Twitter. People can tune in at 2pm PT/5pm ET/11pm CET. As usual, people will be able to watch it on the official YouTube account. Switch games will be the focus of the 40 minute February 2023 Nintendo Direct. The company didn't announce which ones could appear. However, we do have an idea of which first-party titles could appear in the showcase. Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe could get a new trailer, as it will be out on February 24, 2023. Bayonetta Origins is also likely, as it debuts in March 2023. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is expected in May 2023. Nintendo also has Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp waiting for a new release date. Not to mention we haven't heard from Metroid Prime 4 or Pikmin 4 in quite a while.
The last "Direct" style presentation to appear and focus on games was a November 2022 Indie World. However, a handful of indie titles were also showcased and revealed over the course of a few days in December 2022. Fate/Grand Order players have a new battle line to fight at, as they wait for the next Lostbelt chapter to open. The latest event for the English edition of the game is titled "Grail Front - Et Tu, Brute," and will run until February 19, 2023. The Fate/Grand Order Grail Front event is brought to Chaldea by none other than legendary Roman dictator Julius Caesar. In fact, the event's title reflects the famed line from William Shakespeare's play of the same name. It's Latin for "You too, Brutus?" These were the words supposedly uttered by the dying emperor of Rome as he recognized his friend and protégé as one of his assassins. Like the previous Fate/Grand Order Grail Front event, the "Land of Shadows Battleground Blitz," players will command their Servants in a context similar to that of the classical Holy Grail War. The central ritual of the Fate franchise mythology, the Holy Grail War involves Masters and the Servants they command battling it out for supremacy over a Holy Grail, a near-omnipotent wish-granting device. FGO's battles haven't really taken that format much, opting for a more standard RPG-like system pitting parties of player-controlled Servants against monsters and bosses. Grail Fronts bring some of that atmosphere back by having players select a limited number of Servants and move them separately around nodes on a map table. Getting the advantage will be about timing and positioning, as players will want to make sure their stronger Servants can face enemies with the edge in class affinity, levels or other factors. Other strategies include targeting an enemy Master directly, as defeating them ends the match. To add some variety compared to the last time this style of event appeared, some new changes were added. Some enemy Servants will equip Craft Essences to change their properties, and some spaces on the map will grant certain effects, like health regeneration. Clearing stages will award players in QP, summoning tickets, and other goodies, while completing all seven available Fate/Grand Order Grail Front stages will net players a Holy Grail, which can be used to raise a Servant's level cap beyond its usual maximum. Alhaitham debuted as a playable character in Genshin Impact Version 3.4. Now that he's solved the crisis in Sumeru, he's ready to retire and travel Teyvat, whether he wants to or not. In the same chamber, as well as in the hallways leading to the chamber, you can find quite a few Sand Grease Pupas. Unlike the Scarabs for Cyno, Sand Grease Pupas usually spawn in groups of around three, and are relatively close to each other. As for his Talents, Alhaitham takes Ingenuity. MegaHouse has opened up pre-orders for a figure of HItsugaya as he appears in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. You can get him through AmiAmi. He costs 35,200 JPY, which is around $265.10. He will ship out around October 2023. As opposed to his appearance in the original show, Hitsugaya's hair and outfit are different. The base of the figure is Hyorinmaru, and the sword itself is in the Shikai state. You can see the crescent-shaped blade hanging off of the chain from the bottom of the sword. The chain is a real one, which means you can rearrange the crescent-shaped blade however you want over or around the figure. A demo for Void Terrarium 2 is now available for the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch. To commemorate this, you can play PetNanny, which is a Tamagotchi-like virtual pet game in which you take care of Toriko. Toriko is the last human alive and you must feed her and get rid of the various threats that appear in the terrarium. You can watch the trailer for the demo of Void Terrarium 2 here: The actual Void Terrarium 2 is like a more expanded version of PetNanny. You will play as Robbie, a robot, whose job is to take care of Toriko. It combines Tamagotchi-like gameplay with a roguelike dungeon crawl, and you will also be able to purchase items to spruce up your terrarium. The first game came out in July 2020, and it featured similar mechanics as well. Void Terrarium 2 is a direct sequel in terms of the story. Along with taking care of Toriko, Void Terrarium 2 will introduce a hacking mechanic in which Robbie looks into the past and explores a world before the apocalypse. This will come into play when you try to figure out Toriko's past and look for clues to help her overcome her fatal disease.
