Back in 1999, around the time of the release of the original Super Smash Bros. on the N64, Nintendo had a big idea. To help promote the game they would go to Vegas, set up a wrestling ring, get a bunch of actors to wear Nintendo character costumes and have them go at it.

Valorant players don't need help against high-ping, they need servers

Valorant is a game that requires sheer skill, one of the best gaming PCs, and a stable ping. Good luck staying in Silver for months if you don't have at least one of the three. But determined fans of Riot's FPS game hit Immortal daily with high ping, poor setups, and unexpected delays. As if playing Valorant on 200ms wasn't already a pain, Riot is now sidelining an underrepresented region for something they have no control over.

Destiny 2 season 19 finale mission is a heartbreaking farewell

The Destiny 2 season 19 finale launched today, creating an emotional turning point in a storyline that drew together throughlines dating back as far as the original Destiny to culminate in one of the most memorable quests in the game's history. The finale, ominously titled Final Dawn, brings together the stories of humanity, the Eliksni, and the Awoken in a fight against time to face forces led by Eramis, an Eliksni leader who holds a vendetta against the Traveler for leaving her people when they needed it the most. Eramis is also the primary villain in Destiny 2 Beyond Light and is now working alongside The Witness, a many-faced creature players first saw at the finale of The Witch Queen campaign in the popular FPS game.

Destiny 2 Nightfall weapons – what is the Nightfall weapon this week?

Want to know what this week's Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon is? Each week you've got a chance at a different weapon for completing Nightfall Strikes, and ever since Season of the Lost, fan-favourite legacy weapons from the original Destiny has been added to the rotation. New seasons often introduce new weapons into the rotation, so it's more important than ever to know in advance the Nightfall weapon schedule.

Nightfall: The Ordeal is a playlist available in the Vanguard menu, alongside the basic Strike playlist in the free PC game. Each week, a different Strike is chosen as the Nightfall, and offered in five escalating difficulties, with harder enemies, challenging modifiers, and enemy power levels cranking up. The coveted Nightfall weapons have a chance to drop from any Nightfall Strike difficulty, but it's far more likely at higher levels, which is something you'll want to maximise your chances for with the Destiny 2 Lightfall release date on the horizon. Your best bet for farming each week's Nightfall weapon is to set the Strike to Master difficulty. You should also note that there's no automatic matchmaking above Hero difficulty, however, so you'll need to get a squad together.

I kind of hate mechanical hard drives these days. Yes, they're cheap per gigabyte, yes they're fairly reliable, yes they're absolutely the way to go if you need to store a lot of data and don't care how long it takes to access it. But. But. These drives are hard to go back to after you're used to SSDs, with their near-instant access times, completely silent operation, resistance to shocks, drops and magnets and of course their overall SPEED.

So when I had the chance, I bought the biggest SSD I could afford, a 4TB model at the time, and copied literally every bit of data from the four or five 1TB or smaller hard drives that I'd bought over the years and stuck into my increasingly full PC tower. It was expensive, and it took ages to copy everything across, but as soon as I turned my computer on for the first time and I didn't have to listen to the clicks and whirs of a mechanical drive, I was completely convinced I'd made the right call to ditch spinning rust.

Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 4th Heart Sales Pass 150,000

Konami took Valentine's Day as an opportunity to share updated sales figures for Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 4th Heart, the latest Switch entry in the otome dating sim series. It passed 150,000 units sold in Japan. The game is only available in Japan. The company didn't offer any additional insights about sales figures regarding its DLC.

Here's the official announcement on Twitter. It also included new art of Ryota Kazama, one of the love interests in this installment.

Like other installments in the series, Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 4th Heart follows a young woman as she goes through high school. You decide on which classes she takes, interests she pursues, and jobs she does. You also determine how she dresses on dates and at special events. As she goes about her high school life, she gets to know various love interests over the three years. She can then end up in a relationship with one of them. This installment is notable for callbacks to past entries, with love interest Inori Himuro related to teacher Reiichi Himuro and the twin friends Hikaru and Michiru Hanatsubaki related to series fashion icon Goro Hanatsubaki.

Unlike past entries, it is the first to offer DLC love interests. People can pay ¥1,980 for these extra romance options. These include Isao Onari and Tomoe Yukimichi.

FFVII Remake Valentine's Day

To celebrate Valentine's Day, the FFVII Remake official twitter account shared the Honeybee Inn theme song, titled "An Unforgettable Night." The original song was composed by Nobuo Uematsu for Final Fantasy VII, and the Remake, version was arranged by Kengo Tokusashi and Mitsuto Suzuki.

The tweet is written in Japanese, and its translation reads as follows:

"Happy Valentine's Day! This year, why don't you come spend a night as sweet and tender as chocolate at the Honeybee Inn? If you wish to enjoy a beauty born only from chaos, and impossible to see above the plate, please be sure to make a visit to the Honeybee Inn."

https://twitter.com/FFVIIR_CLOUD/status/1625419582025392128

In FFVII Remake, the Honeybee Inn is a members-only nightclub located in Wall Market and owned by the eccentric and flamboyant Andrea Rhodea, a new character introduced in the remake. Cloud and Aerith visit the locale during Chapter 9, in order for Cloud to receive a makeover, which will allow him to qualify and go to Don Corneo's audition to rescue his friend Tifa.

The FFVII Remake Twitter account recently shared the Japanese and Global versions of the Happy Turtle Jingle, a song exclusive to Episode Intermission.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. Episode Intermission is an extra episode exclusive to the PS5 and PC versions, and it stars Yuffie as its protagonist.

Splatoon 3 DLC Spyke

Nintendo revealed the return of Spyke in the Splatoon 3 Inkopolis DLC. He's the latest character Nintendo provided new screenshots and details on within the returning hub area. He will act as a shop for players to modify their gear's abilities.

Spyke was originally seen in the first Splatoon on Wii U, where he operated a shady back alley business. He could help players customize their gear by adding additional ability slots and re-rolling the gear's secondary abilities. He could also be called on to order gear that could be seen worn by other players in the Inkopolis plaza. Most of these services used Super Sea Snails, a currency typically earned from Splatfests.

https://twitter.com/SplatoonNA/status/1625510236864782337

Spyke was replaced in Splatoon 2 with a younger sea urchin character named Murch who ran similar services. These services have been expanded, allowing players to craft specific abilities they want instead of gambling on a reroll. According to Nintendo's latest screenshots, Spyke gained these extra services from Murch, as he uses the same menu as his Splatsville equivalent.

Spyke's reveal comes after previous reveals of the DLC's shopkeepers, including some familiar faces and newcomers.

Splatoon 3 is available now for Nintendo Switch, and the DLC is set to release in Spring 2023.

Masahiro Sakurai talks Meteos development

Masahiro Sakurai talked about his time working on Meteos, providing background information on its development. Released on his YouTube channel, Sakurai's video sees him cover the origins of the game, early concepts and his thoughts on the final product.

The video is the latest in Sakurai's Game Concepts series, where he looks back on the development of his previous titles including the Kirby and Smash Bros franchises. This latest episode represents the first time the series has strayed from his more famous works.

Meteos was a puzzle game released in 2005 for the Nintendo DS, produced by Tetsuya Mizuguchi of Q Entertainment, who personally approached Sakurai to design a falling block game. In his video, Sakurai described how he viewed this request as a challenge due to his poor skills at the genre, and shared a rough concept made in PowerPoint showing his desire to have blocks take off like rockets when matched correctly.

Sakurai's video also went into further depth regarding his regrets on balancing the final product, but also how pleased he was with how the different planets offered up unique challenges for the player. His next video in the series will talk about an obscure LCD game he worked on, Sodatete: Kouchuu Ouja Mushiking.

The full video can be seen here:

lies of p trailer

A new gameplay trailer for Lies of P appeared on IGN's Twitter account. At around two minutes long, it gives an overview not only of the game's worldview, but also of Pinocchio traversing through its environments. Lies of P is an action adventure game in the vein of Dark Souls, drawing inspiration not only from the story of Pinocchio, but also the Belle Epoque era of French history.

You can watch the trailer for Lies of P here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yDx7Px6yMU

The trailer does not really give any concrete information on the plot. NEOWIZ West did post a story trailer for Lies of P about a year ago that gives more detail on what to expect. Since the game will be a souls-like, it will likely focus on dodging and blocking rather than a hack-n-slash combat system.

In Lies of P, you play as Pinocchio, and you must fight through the violent city of Krat in order to find Geppetto. Since Pinocchio is a puppet just like in the original fairy tale, he will likely be able to upgrade his body to learn new skills or use new weapons. In the trailer, Pinocchio fires a beam from his left hand.

Lies of P is in development for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows PC, and it will come out in 2023. More information on it will come out during IGN FanFest, which will be on February 17-18, 2023.
