How to Finish the 'Descended from Royalty' Octopath Traveler 2 Side Story

A good rule of thumb in Octopath Traveler 2 is to steal/buy/mug/beat up anyone who has an item in their inventory with a diamond next to its name. That means it is a key item that will be important later. (I'd also say if it has an obnoxiously low steal rate with Throne, that's also a sign you'll eventually need it.) In the case of the "Descended from Royalty" Octopath Traveler 2 side story, doing so can save you a lot of time later in the game.

So in Clockbank in the second half of town, on the far east side, you'll see a woman with a drunk man who insists he is a Royal Descendant. That's even what his name will be.

How to Finish the 'Descended from Royalty' Octopath Traveler 2 Side Story
Now, you can actually prove this. If you go to the Abandoned Village near Flamechurch, there is one person still in town. He's in a house near the eastern exit. If you go into his inventory, you'll find the Nyx Royal Family Tree. Get that item.

Once you have it, return to Clockbank. Give it to the Royal Descendant. This will finish the Octopath Traveler 2 "Descended from Royalty" and net you 6,000 leaves and a Resistant Nut (M).

Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.

How to Get the Mercantile Manuscript in Octopath Traveler 2

There are a number of side stories in Octopath Traveler 2 tied to Partitio and his The Scent of Commerce quests, and getting Mercantile Manuscript access in Sai is one of them. This is essentially access to a glossary and library offering insight about the world and the things in it. It's also incredibly quick and easy to complete, if you have the time and 6,000 leaves.

First, make sure Partitio is in your party when you are in Sai. There is a small hill in town with a house on it. If Partitio is around, then he'll recognize the insignia on a wagon on the hill. He'll then realize it belongs to the legendary merchant Masoud, who wrote the Mercantile Manuscript.

However, Masoud won't just give Partitio access. He wants a merchant's greatest treasure. From there, head down the hill and approach the woman standing next to the well. This is Masoud's daughter. Hire her as Partitio at night. It will cost you 1,000 leaves. Take her to her father.

You'll then see more exposition. After the three talk, Partitio and Masoud's daughter will walk away. She'll then give you a hint as to what the answer to the "test" is. Partitio will also think about it and realize the proper response.

From there, head back up to Masoud at night. Have Partitio hire him for 5,000 leaves. This will complete the quest, and you'll get the Mercantile Manuscript Archive Key in Octopath Traveler 2. This opens the door to the building behind Masoud in Sai.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.

How to Complete 'Plans from a Ruined Nation' in Octopath Traveler 2

So many Octopath Traveler 2 side stories, like "Plans from a Ruined Nation," involve learning about an item you need and then needing to steal/buy/scrutinize/inquire to get them. Which, if you're going out of your way to always check NPC inventories and, say, steal with Throne, ends up being handy! It means you can easily complete quests with a lot of backtracking. This is a prime candidate for that.

Okay. So. First, if you're in Sai, you'll find someone in the eastern part of town in front of a dilapidated building. You'll see treasure chests you can't reach. Talk to the person, who turns out to be a Master Carpenter, and you'll learn the Fort Orochi Plans to repair the building.

How to Complete 'Plans from a Ruined Nation' in Octopath Traveler 2
Said Fort Orochi Plans are in Canalbrine in the first floor of the tavern. A Former U Carpenter is sitting at a table. Get the plans from him. You can do this in a number of ways, but Throne quickly grabbed them via stealing when I was playing.

After that, return to the Master Carpenter in Sai to complete the Octopath Traveler 2 side story "Plans from a Ruined Nation." You'll immediately get 6,500 leaves and a Tough Nut (M) as a reward. You can also access the two chests there now, which contain a Refined Sword and Battle Hatchet.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.

How to Unlock the Armsmaster Secondary Job in Octopath Traveler 2

There are four secret secondary jobs in Octopath Traveler 2, but odds are the Armsmaster and the Inventor are the only two you'll be getting before the second half of the game. While you can get the Inventory very quickly and easily, there are some hoops to jump through for the Armsmaster. However, by the time you do get to Gravell to meet Porta, you'll probably be ready to pick up this extra roll.

First, when you get to Gravell, you'll find a man blocking one home's door. This is a debt collector. If Throne is around and is at level 30 or higher, she can ambush him at night to gain access to the place.

How to Unlock the Armsmaster Secondary Job in Octopath Traveler 2

This is Porta the blacksmith's home. Now, when I got here, I'd already completed the Winterbloom side story "The Sword in the Stone." This meant when I got to Gravell and met Porta, he right away recognized the Rusty Sword, told me about Armsmasters, and ended up giving me both Proof of the Armsmaster and Conqueror's Sword. As such, I'm not sure if having one of the rusty weapons before you meet Porta is a prerequisite to the quest. However, since that's an easy side story, I'd recommend doing so first.

Once you've talked to him, you'll get the new secondary Armsmaster job for one of your Octopath Traveler 2 characters to equip and the new side story "In Search of the Divine Weapons." This involves collecting six rusty weapons, which adds to the role's abilities.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.

How to Finish the Octopath Traveler 2 'Utterly Exhausted' Side Story

If you start with Throne in Octopath Traveler 2, then one of the first side stories you'll probably add to your list is "Utterly Exhausted." However, it involves heading all the way to the opposite continent to get an unusual "stone" for the Exhausted Man. Not to mention, you don't even know what town or area that item might be in. However, once you find it, the quest is easy to complete.

After talking to the Exhausted Man in New Delsta, the one standing near the person selling crepes, you'll need to head to Crackridge. There will be a Suspicious Merchant in the center of town during the day. If you go into his inventory, you can buy, steal, or attack him for his Miraculous Stone. I used a level 30 Throne to steal it from him, and had no trouble getting it.

Head back to New Delsta with it and talk to the Exhausted Man again. After he gets it, it turns out it really will perform a "miracle." The Octopath Traveler 2 "Utterly Exhausted" side story will be done, and you'll get 6,000 leaves and a Dragon's Scarf for your efforts.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.

Yo-kai watch anime

The Yo-kai Watch franchise will be taking a break from television, but new plans are afoot. Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino tweeted the news on February 24, 2023, saying that while the current Yo-kai Watch anime will be "taking a break", more is in the works for the franchise as a whole.

Hino also included a photo of what looks like an entirely new character along with his comment.

https://twitter.com/AkihiroHino/status/1629074915466055680

The tweet mentioned that the Yo-kai Watch anime (a.k.a. the Yo-kai Watch TV series) will be taking a break. However, Level-5 is working on "the next amazing thing" in the world of Yo-kai Watch. Hino urged fans to be patient "for a short while," as Level-5 prepares to make a formal announcement. The image attached to Hino's tweet shows a cat-like creature with pink coloration and elements reminiscent of various iconic Yokai from the franchise.

Hino did not specify a schedule or timeframe for that announcement, but the wait might not be too long. Level-5 will broadcast its Vision 2023 livestream event in early March 2023. Though a new Yo-kai Watch project has yet to be announced, and is not on the official docket of featured titles, there's a chance that the company may make a surprise announcement.

The current Yo-kai Watch  anime series is called Yo-kai Watch(Yo-kai Watch Reborn in English). It began airing in 2021, and was something of a revival for the original Yo-kai Watch series, starring original protagonist Nathan Adams and his companion Yokai Jibanyan and Whisper. Given the announcement, once its broadcast concludes, it may be the last anime project in the franchise for a while.

Yo-kai Watch games are available across multiple platforms. The most recent, Yo-kai Watch 4, is available on the Nintendo Switch in Japan. An English localization has not been announced.

How to Finish the Octopath Traveler 2 'Procuring Peculiar Tomes' Side Story

As you get further into Octopath Traveler 2, you'll happen upon side stories like "Procuring Peculiar Tomes" that are multi-part affairs. These often need to wait until members of your party are at level 35 or higher, due to the danger of reaching some places or requirements to perform certain path actions. So if you want to help the Montwise library with its books, it could take a while.

There are three tomes you need to get for the Unusual Tome Specialist in the Octopath Traveler 2 "Procuring Peculiar Tomes" questline. Here's the full list of what they are and where you'll find them. The easiest one to get is Dispatches from Beasting Island, and The Curious Legend of the Great Wall will be one of the more difficult to acquire due to it being in the Stormhail area.

  • The Curious Legend of the Great Wall: Southern Stormhail Snows southern entrance. Steal or buy it from the Archeologist. I got it for 1,900 leaves with Partitio.
  • Dispatches from Beasting Island: At Beasting Village, buy or steal it from the Foreign Traveler next to the save point. I stole it with Throne with no trouble.
  • From the Far Reaches of Hell: At the southmost point of Crackridge, there will be a troubled scholar blocking a door. If Throne is past level 30, she can ambush him and gain access to his home. The book is in a chest inside.

You must have all three books to complete "Procuring Peculiar Tomes" in Octopath Traveler 2. When you bring them back at once, the Unusual Tome Specialist on the left side of the Montwise library will give you 6,500 leaves, a Librarian's Amulet, and a Refreshing Jam. She'll also hint that another quest could eventually come tied to From the Far Reaches of Hell.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.
