Mass Effect Andromeda's director would have loved a sequel

There's not going to be a Mass Effect Andromeda sequel. The BioWare RPG game didn't live up to the internal developer and exterior player expectations, so instead we're getting Mass Effect 4, but the director of Mass Effect Andromeda has talked about these shortcomings saying he'd loved to have seen a sequel.

PlayStation gives a PC port update but don't hope for Bloodborne

PlayStation PC ports are well underway from Sony, as Marvel's Spider-Man, The Last of Us, Uncharted, and many more PS4 and PS5 games come to platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store. It also looks like Sony has a broad plan for the future of these ports, but I wouldn't hold out for a Bloodborne PC port, as the Fromstoftware RPG game has missed the boat.

League of Legends Skin line characters

Since its inception, League of Legends has always been about its characters. Whether that be through their kit design and what they can bring to the table regarding gameplay or what a character could contribute to world of Runeterra at large. However, Riot Games effectively succeeded at not only making League of Legends characters interesting through their unique designs, but also through individual skin lines. These skin lines are sometimes purely for aesthetic, but are also tied to totally unrelated alternate universe storylines, and have an incredible amount of production put into them. These four especially are among the best skin lines in League of Legends.

Bilgewater

[caption id="attachment_963989" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]League of Legends Skin Lines Bilgewater Image via Riot Games[/caption]

Bilgewater is an already existing place in League of Legends, but this skin line reimagines characters from other countries as if they were part of this lawless, pirate inspired nation. For example, one of the Bilgewater skins reimagines the Grand General of Noxus, Jericho Swain, as a former leader of the expansionist empire now turned pirate. Not only is the skin gorgeous, and changes his raven into a parrot, but provides some flavor text as to why he decided to abandon his former ambitions. Other Noxian champions like Katarina also have a Bilgewater skin, which gives her more of a "pirate" flair. Additionally, other characters like Garen, Quinn, and Aatrox were given skins also applicable to this particular line. Skins in this skin line include:

  • Bilgewater Swain
  • High Command Katarina
  • Rogue Admiral Garen
  • Sea Hunter Aatrox
  • Corsair Quinn
  • Ironside Malphite
  • Cutthroat Graves
  • Cutpurse Twisted Fate

Warring Kingdoms

[caption id="attachment_963998" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Warring Kingdoms Skin Line League of Legends Image via Riot Games[/caption]

Another alternate universe skin line, this reimagines prominent League of Legends characters as though they were part of the Chinese epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Some of these skins first appeared in 2014, but Riot has gone on to expand the skin line itself, including Azir and Nidalee into the mix. While it isn't their only East Asian inspired skin line, Warring Kingdoms has a lot of fun skin descriptions that make this setting something interesting Riot could potentially explore in extra materials. Skins in this skin line include:

  • Warring Kingdoms Jarvan IV
  • Warring Kingdoms Azir
  • Warring Kingdoms Nidalee
  • Warring Kingdoms Vi
  • Warring Kingdoms Garen
  • Warring Kingdoms Katarina
  • Warring Kingdoms Tryndamere
  • Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao
  • Dragonblade Talon
  • Dragonblade Riven

Pentakill

[caption id="attachment_963988" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]League of Legends Skin Lines Pentakill Image via Riot Games[/caption]

Riot Games' first foray into original music, the Pentakill skins have some amazing production in terms of unique recall animations and music. The skins also have some great design tributes to iconic metal bands and icons. Because of this, and because Riot continues to release more skins for their in-universe metal band, the Pentakill skin line deserves a spot on this list.

  • Pentakill Karthus (Lost Chapter)
  • Pentakill Kayle (Lost Chapter)
  • Pentakill Mordekaiser (Lost Chapter)
  • Pentakill Olaf (Lost Chapter)
  • Pentakill Sona (Lost Chapter)
  • Pentakill Yorick (Lost Chapter)
  • Dissonance of Pentakill Viego

Inkshadow

[caption id="attachment_964007" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]inkshadow League of Legends Skin line characters Image via Riot Games[/caption]

One of the more recent skin lines, the Inkshadow series released alongside MSI 2023. This skin line features sume-i effects, each associated with an individual color applied to each champion as part of the skin line. But what is most impressive about this line in particular, is how great Volibear, Aurelion Sol and Udyr look. These champions are often overlooked, and while Volibear does have a decent amount of skins, the three of them look great. Yone, Yasuo, Master Yi, and Kai'sa also look great, but that's a given.  Skins in this skin line include:

  • Inkshadow Yasuo
  • Inkshadow Yone
  • Inkshadow Kai'sa
  • Inkshadow Aurelion Sol
  • Inkshadow Master Yi
  • Inkshadow Volibear
  • Inkshadow Udyr

League of Legends is available for PC. League of Legends: Wild Rift is available on Android and iOS devices.

Kaveh weapons artifacts Genshin Impact

Despite the fact that Kaveh in Genshin Impact looks and acts like he has never held a weapon in his entire life, he fills in the DPS niche in your part. To make the most of him, you should run him with someone who can apply Hydro. This is because his kit revolves around the Bloom Elemental Reaction. Here are some weapons and artifacts you can consider on your Kaveh in Genshin Impact to take advantage of his Skill and Burst.

Here are the Best Weapons for Kaveh in Genshin Impact

As mentioned earlier, weapons you put on Kaveh should focus on the fact that most of his damage comes from Dendro Cores. The main stat that you should focus on should be either his Energy Recharge or his Elemental Mastery. Weapons that focus on the traditional DPS stats, such as ATK or Crit, will not maximize his potential.

You can consider giving him the Mailed Flower, the Makhaira Aquamarine, or the Forest  Regalia. An advantage Kaveh has is that rare or 5-star weapons are not necessary to bring out his best. Forest Regalia is free in the game through Aranara quests, and Mailed Flower was exclusive to the Windblume's Breath event. While Elemental Mastery weapons like Mailed Flower and Makhaira Aquamarine help to increase how much damage Dendro Cores deal, the Forest Regalia is probably his best weapon. This is because its main stat is Energy Recharge, which helps him to use his Burst more, and the effect increases his Elemental Mastery when he causes a Reaction.

Here are the Best Artifacts for Kaveh in Genshin Impact

As mentioned above, Kaveh's main damage potential comes from the Bloom reactions. So when you're picking out artifacts for him, you should keep that in mind. Energy Recharge and Elemental Mastery are the main stats that you should focus on. Some sets to consider are:

  • Flowers of Paradise Lost x4
  • Deepwood Memories x4
  • Gilded Dreams x4

Flowers of Paradise Lost is the best set to use on Kaveh only if there is no one on his team using the 4-piece set of Deepwood Memories. In that situation, then Kaveh should use a full Deepwood Memories set because of the Dendro RES decrease it can apply. If someone else can wear that set, then Flower of Paradise Lost is good for Kaveh because it increases his Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon DMG by 40%.

Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Kaveh is perpetually in the banners since he is a four-star character.

Dark Gathering Makes You Question Characters' Motives

Kenichi Kondo's Dark Gathering is yet another supernatural manga involving otherworldy, demonic sorts of forces. However, there are a number of differences that set us apart. An eerily adorable young girl named Yayoi is involved in collecting ghosts, for example. Also while the protagonist Keitaro can sense spirits, he's extremely reluctant. But what really intrigued me about the series is how it approaches sharing character motivations.

We know what Keitaro is up to right away, what with him being the protagonist and the reader directly following his adventures. The Dark Gathering manga kicks off by explaining how he was cursed, how a classmate close to him was also hurt as a result of it, and that he only just started trying to integrate into the world again upon starting college and develop more confidence in himself. He even becomes a tutor, which results in his being paired with Yayoi, in an attempt to become more social and reach out to people.

[caption id="attachment_963583" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Dark Gathering Makes You Question Characters' Motives Image via Viz Media[/caption]
It's when we start getting into supporting characters Eiko, Keitaro's childhood friend, and Yayoi, his new tutoring student and Eiko's cousin, that Dark Gathering gets more compelling. Over the course of the first volume of the manga, the truth about Yayoi and her motivations trickle out. It's fascinating as it builds up. Especially since we're seeing the trio deal with malicious, dangerous spirits who put Keitaro and them at risk of serious harm, then watch as Yayoi "collects" them for a purpose. She's constantly pushing him into hazardous situations, and the initial chapters building up to the reveals as to "why" makes it more heartfelt than one would expect.

But what I also appreciate is the element of not really knowing what to expect from Eiko. She seems like this positive woman and force. She clearly cares about Yayoi, and it seems like Keitaro matters to her as well. But there are moments when Kondo has her eyes darken or something happens that makes you wonder about her. Especially as further revelations come throughout the course of the first three chapters. It left me with so many questions about what she's dealing with, how involved she might be, and if she even helped influence why Keitaro was picked to be Yayoi's tutor.

The first volume of the Dark Gathering manga does an admirable job of building up interest by making readers wonder what people are up to. Keitaro's motivations are straightforward and uncomplicated. This provides quite a nice parallel with the more mysterious Yayoi. However, it's also great to see that in the background, we have Eiko still offering yet another mystery.

Volume 1 of the Dark Gathering manga is now available via Viz Media.
