Is there a Diablo 4 offline mode?

Can you play Diablo 4 offline? As we approach the release date, many are wondering if their dodgy internet connection is going to hold up for the upcoming game, or just want to experience Diablo 4 solo, so can you?

Diablo 4 is tied to online features including the world tier difficulty, as well as the many world bosses. There have been community grumbles around the lack of offline modes in previous Diablo games. There's been a demand for the RPG game to be playable offline since both Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal were both online only, apart from Diablo 3 being available on the Nintendo Switch, not that it helps us PC players.

Destiny 2 Nightfall weapons – What is the Nightfall weapon this week?

Want to know what this week's Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon is? Each week you've got a chance at a different weapon for completing Nightfall Strikes, and ever since Season of the Lost, fan-favourite legacy weapons from the original Destiny has been added to the rotation. New seasons often introduce new weapons into the rotation, so it's more important than ever to know in advance the Nightfall weapon schedule.

Nightfall: The Ordeal is a playlist available in the Vanguard menu, alongside the basic Strike playlist in the free PC game. Each week, a different Strike is chosen as the Nightfall, and offered in five escalating difficulties, with harder enemies, challenging modifiers, and enemy power levels cranking up. The coveted Nightfall weapons have a chance to drop from any Nightfall Strike difficulty, but it's far more likely at higher levels, which is something you'll want to maximise your chances for with the Destiny 2 Lightfall release date that recently passed. Your best bet for farming each week's Nightfall weapon is to set the Strike to Master difficulty, or to Grandmaster difficulty when such strikes are available if you have a fireteam up to the task.

GTA podium car: here's what vehicle you can win in GTA Online

What is the GTA podium car this week? GTA Online vehicles are expensive things, so we're happy to take a spin on the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel to get a discount. Winning isn't guaranteed, sure, but it isn't out of the question, either. Look, we don't have a problem - leave it alone.

Finding out what is the GTA podium car is simple enough - it's winning it that's the challenge. You can spin the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel once daily, and each Podium Car refreshes after seven days on a Thursday. Basically, you have seven shots to get the vehicle of that given week. If you own a Penthouse, you can spin it for free, but if you don't, it's $500 a spin. Don't fret if you don't win, as you can try for something else.

You have a one in 20 chance of getting the podium vehicle, a car discount, or a mystery prize. There's a four in 20 chance of getting clothes, chips, and cash. Finally, there's a five in 20 chance of getting RP. On that note, here's everything you need to know about this week's GTA podium car.

     Counter-Strike 2 will apparently include

Counter-Strike 2 may include a whole-new strand of customizables and collectibles to sit alongside skins and stickers, as a recent CS2 datamine reveals mention of "pets" in the upcoming Valve FPS game. For over a decade we've plundered CSGO cases to make our assault rifles, knives, and AWPs look as tricked-out as possible, but with Counter-Strike 2, there seems to be the possibility that we get an animal companion to follow us into battle, one that we can also style and modify just like our guns and gear.      Minecraft allegedly bans guns and firearms in custom servers

Minecraft guns and firearms are apparently set to be banned under revised user policies from Mojang, which seem to state that "all references to guns and firearms are not compliant" with the current adult content rules for the popular building game. One popular Minecraft server, GTM or 'Grand Theft Minecraft,' has allegedly received a notice from Mojang saying that it must remove or redesign the guns that feature in its custom games. Minecraft customizations that allow for realistic-looking guns, and also have names similar to their real-world counterparts, appear to be the central concern of Mojang's current user policies.

Playing Diablo IV gave me a real case of the "have I changed, or have the games changed?", and I think the answer is "yes". For the uninitiated, Diablo forms one of the jewels in Blizzard's crown (maybe a smaller one, just offset to the Warfcraft centre stone), an action-RPG series that's like if the kind of 90s metal album cover that has a skeleton on it asked to be turned into a game where you explode many hundreds of near-identical monsters to get incrementally better loot. This is a spoiler-free review of the latest greatest addition, following 2012's Diablo III, but a Diablo game's story is sort of unspoilable, both because a) paying attention to it is of passing importance to playing, and b) the plot of them is always basically the same anyway.

To wit: Sanctuary, a high-fantasy world with a low-fantasy vibe, where so much as going to the next town over will be a brush with some horrible little goblin rat called a Flesh Thresher, was created as a respite from the eternal battle between heaven and hell. After X number of years of relative peace, one (or many) of the Lords Of Hell is doin' some bad stuff. Usually Diablo, I'll grant you. In this case it's Lilith, a kind of Dante's Lady Dimetrescu, who's making people horny for being stepped on power. Diablo games have always had a Grand Canyon sized gulf between the cinematics (epic; luscious; brutal) and the game in practise (clicking). IV is no different. And you know. It's fine.

Those versions of the toys are different from the ones in wider circulation, as they feature a special patch on the back noting where the person bought them. After launch, they eventually also showed up in stores like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walgreens, and Walmart.

The second two to join the collection were Snorlax and Togepi. Like Gengar and Pikachu, they first appeared in the Pokemon Center in April 2023. There have been reports of the two designs appearing in additional stores like Box Lunch and Target. However, they aren't widespread releases yet.

The fifth and sixth Pokemon Squishmallow stuffed animals will be Piplup and winking Pikachu. Both are in development ahead of their widespread release

Another example is in the black pixels on Natsuki's watch to emulate the pixels that would appear. Each watch costs 22,000 JPY, which is around $156.80.

Super Groupies will also release a tote bag and a wallet based on Monika. The leather is the same light brown of her hair. As well, the insides contain the "Just Monika" text box, as well as a lot of text glitches. The tote bag costs 18,700 JPY (around $133.30) and the wallet costs 15,400 JPY (around $109.80).

Doki Doki Literature Club started as a freeware game that Team Salvato released in 2017. Though it begins like a normal visual novel, things start to go off the rails after a few hours. It has a large online fanbase, with one of the reasons behind its success behind its usage of surreal and psychological horror. An expanded, paid version later appeared on consoles and PCs.

The Doki Doki Literature Club accessories and merchandise from Super Groupies will be available until June 19, 2023. As a reminder, Super Groupies does offer international shipping, so those living overseas will be able to directly order from the website.

Dragon Ball The Breakers Season 3 Adds Ginyu Force Characters

More Dragon Ball: The Breakers characters and content is coming in season 3, with Ginyu Force debuting as the new Raider. Bandai Namco announced the new season starts on June 9, 2023, with paid and free content appearing. However, people can access the public test server starting on May 31, 2023 to test out the new additions early.

While Ginryu Force is made up of Ginyu, Burter, Guldo, Jeice, and Recoome, the characters act as a single entity in Dragon Ball: The Breakers. The announcement stream noted they are a "team-up type." Players will switch them out, and being able to do so without a survivor beating them makes the next character stronger. This was showcased starting at the five minute mark of the Season 3 Special Launch Live-Stream.

As for Survivor Skins, a few are coming. Dende and King Kai will be sold for TP Tokens. Fortuneteller Baba will be a Dragon Tier reward. Bulma, Chi-Chi-, Oolong, and Yajirobe will also appear.

New Transphere were announced too. Once the new season starts, we will be able to grab one and turn into Bardock, Gohan, or Goten. The Bardock and Goten versions will be their Super Saiyan forms. For Gohan, it will be his teen Super Saiyan 2 one.

Snowy Mountain will also appear as the new free map in the game.

See the One Piece Live-Action Going Merry in New Netflix Poster

There's another update on the Netflix live-action adaptation of One Piece, and this time it involves Going Merry. A new poster appeared with a different key visual. This time, the focus is on how the Straw Hat Pirates' ship will look in the show.

Here's the official announcement. We only get to see Going Merry head-on in this One Piece live-action poster. The figurehead is a sheep, just as it is in the manga and anime. For the poster, the character's mouth is open. This suggests that its expression could exchange during the show, just as it would in the series in response to certain events.

As we can see at the bottom of the new visual, there's still a 2023 release window for this adaptation of One Piece. However, we don't have an exact release date. However, creator Eiichiro Oda said, "[Netflix] promised that we won't launch it until I'm satisfied." So there is a chance that debut could be delayed if Oda doesn't approve of the direction or current quality.

The live-action One Piece show will appear on Netflix in 2023. Viz Media handles the localization of the manga volumes. We can watch the anime adaptation of the series on Crunchyroll.

Pokemon Home Scarlet Violet

From May 30, 2023, Pokemon Home will start supporting for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Once you connect your game to Pokemon Home, you'll receive a Sprigatito, a Fuecoco, and a Quaxly. All three of them will have their Hidden Ability. As well, you'll be able to transfer in Pokemon that Game Freak coded into Scarlet and Violet, but never made obtainable in Paldea.

https://twitter.com/Pokemon_cojp/status/1663500531812249600

The full list of Pokemon that you'll be able to transfer to and from Scarlet and Violet is available via Serebii. Some Pokemon were obtainable through limited events, such as Charizard or Typhlosion. You could only get them through Tera Raids or, if you missed them, trading. This also gives us the chance to transfer in Pokemon from their previous journeys. So if you have an emotional attachment to a Pokemon partner from, say, X or Y, you'll be able to bring them with you as you travel through Paldea.

In late 2022, before the official launch of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in Spring 2023, Nintendo announced that the game would not have Pokemon Home support at launch. It never gave an official reason as to why that was. In mid-May 2023, Nintendo announced a May 24, 2023 release date. However, this was a mistake. Seeing as that was last week, the delay was not very long. Pokemon Home is a subscription-based cloud service that allows you to keep all of your Pokemon in one place, as well as transfer them around. It only supports Switch games, as well as Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are readily available on the Nintendo Switch. You'll be able to link your Pokemon Home account with your Scarlet/Violet file from May 30, 2023.

Diablo IV

Lilith arrived in Sanctuary with her the minions of hell. Diablo IV introduces one of the most integral characters from its expansive catalogue of lore to weave a tapestry about choice, parenthood, while transitioning the series into something more resembling a live service game. With one of the most interesting antagonists to date and a cast of characters that harken back to the much beloved Diablo II, Blizzard attempted to recreate the same lightning in a bottle it did with that seminal entry in the franchise. While Diablo IV is most certainly a beast of its own, it retreads old ground in more ways than one.

Editor's Note: This review was written without access to the battle pass. A feature about how it works and impacts the game will appear in the future.

Diablo IV shares more in common with Diablo II, in terms of how it executes its skill tree, as opposed to Diablo III or other action-RPGs that share similar DNA. Players will allocate a set amount of skill points per branch before they can progress and obtain new skills or passives. However, it isn't entirely linear in its overall execution, as you can always go back and add more skill points or even invest in new skills or passives you may not have obtained earlier in the game. Generally, players can invest in as many skills as they want, but will only ever be able to use a total of six skills at any given time. You can also obtain additional skill points through passives found in Legendary items, which can be used to try out new skills without investing skill points or even empowering active skills beyond its five point threshold. Investment also is as permanent as Path of Exile, for example, as you can reset your skill tree at any time for a sum of gold that scales based on level. You can also refund individual skills without needing to reset your entire tree if you can remember what order you invested those points in.

However, builds in Diablo IV are almost entirely dictated by the Legendary items you obtain. This isn't too dissimilar from Diablo III, but it feels more restrictive. Thankfully, I obtained the Legendary items I needed for my build fairly early on and at integral points of the game, which allowed me to beat the final encounter some ten levels below the suggested level at World Tier l. Without those items, I would have probably needed to dedicate more time to participating in events found throughout the world or picked up more side quests for experience. But even at World Tier II, certain encounters definitely felt considerably easier once I had the appropriate items for my build as a Rogue, which relied on vulnerability and poison. Harder encounters became something of a DPS race, as I was determined to kill whatever would potentially instantly obliterate before it even had the chance to do so. I wouldn't recommend playing this way, but it is entirely possible and does pose some fun challenges before you unlock the harder end game content.

[caption id="attachment_965430" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Diablo IV Image via Blizzard Entertainment[/caption]

Once players beat the main campaign, Capstone Dungeons will be unlocked, along with missions on rotations players can complete to receive rewards. These are generally fairly challenging. It is suggested that players are at least level 45, since certain missions will require you to crawl through dungeons and take on a boss as the final bit of the encounter. This is how players will spend a bulk of their time obtaining Paragon points (which are used to allocate passive stats post level 50) and Legendary gear to create their ideal build. What differs about the Paragon system this time around is that they are fairly extensive and aren't just four paths you can level up like Diablo III. This is the real meat of where your build will be, since you will be picking and assigning glyphs to enhance your passives. For example, certain glyphs will increase the amount of poison damage a Rogue can do or can enhance the kinds of elemental damage the Sorcerer is capable of dishing out.

That said, certain classes do feel significantly stronger than others. Sorcerers and Rogues feel like absolutely powerhouses in comparison to the Barbarian and Druid. Necromancer feels like a middle ground at the moment, but with the right Legendary items, they're capable of dealing incredible amounts of damage. The Barbarian and Druid aren't nearly as lucky, but can get through most of the more challenging encounters the main scenario presents through sheer force of will.

Thankfully, boss fights in Diablo IV aren't as active as you may expect, as the game takes a slower, more deliberate approach to these encounters. Coming from Lost Ark to Diablo IV left me surprised at the general pace of the boss fights, which can sometimes be a slog if you're not able to stun bosses out of attacks or stagger them with the right kind of damage. There isn't any real mechanical complexity to a lot of them, with the exception of one that transforms the arena. But this feels in line with other entries in the series, as boss fights in Diablo III weren't exactly engaging, though they were extremely punishing during the game's first few months.

[caption id="attachment_965431" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Diablo IV Image via Blizzard Entertainment[/caption]

Certain fights also feel way more challenging than others. They can be overloaded with projectiles players need to dodge in order to avoid taking amplified damage while vulnerable, while others are fairly basic and just require you to dodge and move out of certain windows. Nothing is too challenging, but that's what the different World Tiers are for. Though, from what I've experienced it mostly just affects the overall pool of health and damage done to you. That said, the game can easily be completed solo and despite the more MMO-lite approach Blizzard has taken with Diablo IV, you won't be reliant on players for anything outside of possible world bosses.

What Blizzard has succeeded in is creating one of its most compelling characters within its catalog of games. Lilith, the central antagonist of Diablo IV and mother of Sanctuary, is without one of the best additions to the Diablo series by far, with this only amplified by Caroline Faber's performance. While she is no doubt driving Sanctuary to the brink of madness, there is something human about Lilith that makes her the most interesting antagonist in the series to date. However, despite Diablo IV introducing a new antagonist and even a new cast of characters, it is a narrative determined to retread old ground. Homages and even references to prior Diablo games, specifically Diablo II, feel as though they are reassuring players this is not Diablo III, for better or worse. This hinders what new ideas Diablo IV presents, as the narrative seems caught up in trying to tell the same story as its predecessors.

[caption id="attachment_965432" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Diablo IV Image via Blizzard Entertainment[/caption]

Outside of moments when Lilith appears and utterly steals the shows, sidequests help flesh out the world of Sanctuary. While event quests are mostly generic and see you escorting ghosts to the graves of their loved ones or killing servants of Lilith before they spawn greater, more terrible demons, sidequests provide a glimpse into the madness the world faces. These narratives are equally fulfilling if at times equally harrowing as the main scenario, demon possessions and gore aplenty. This helps add texture to the world, and gives even the most minute characters in Diablo IV some substance. Even NPCs you see in passing provide some details as to how the world is faring with Lilith's return, which is far from ideal in the eyes of most. The environments are also incredibly detailed for a game that you will spend most of your time zoomed out of. The various locals in Diablo IV are utterly gorgeous, if not a bit gray at times, but it truly shines in its more macabre states.

Diablo IV feels like a worthy successor to the franchise. It has all of the hallmarks of a Diablo game, but adopts more modern contrivances that feel almost unnecessary in a series that has thrived off of paid expansion packs accompanied by free updates. Embracing this MMO-lite formula gives Diablo IV a lot of potential for growth in terms of what can be added to the game over time, and I'm genuinely interested in future story related updates given how the main narrative ended. But its slow pace and limited character builds could be a turn-off to some, especially those looking for more variety. It feels like time will tell with Diablo IV and whether or not it will thrive among other live service games of its kind that have carved out a niche in the series' absence.

Diablo IV will release on June 6, 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

Katsuhiro Harada Drew Chun-Li and Mai Shiranui at Combo-Breaker

Bandai Namco's Katsuhiro Harada appeared at Combo Breaker 2023. When he did, he also ended up showing his artistic skills. He drew a number of different characters, both from Tekken and other titles, then shared them online. For example, people could see "Unlucky" Chloe, Street Fighter's Chun-Li, and KOF's Mai Shiranui. After he did, he reminded people that he developed these skills due to starting as "a game planner and game designer."

First, here's the picture of Chloe he drew:

Next, here's what Katsuhiro Harada's sketch of Chun-Li looked like:

After that, Harada drew a picture of Mai Shiranui after a Twitter follower requested it.

Once all the images were shared, he explained about his artistic capabilities.

Harada appeared at Combo Breaker 2023 for more reasons than to show off artistic skills. A new Tekken 8 reveal happened at Combo Breaker 2023. Bryan Fury will return for the game.

Street Fighter 6 Benchmark Tool Helps with PC System Requirement Assessment

Potential Street Fighter 6 PC players now have a benchmark tool to help look at system requirements. Capcom shared the free program worldwide. It's now live at the official site, with a brief download that lets someone see what to expect if they get the game at launch and play it on their current setup.

The Street Fighter 6 benchmark tool is easy to use. Once downloaded, start the program. You can then use it to automatically assess your computer. A score out of 100 will show how capable it is. A 91-100 score is ideal, but people who manage above 71 should also be able to play. Capcom also featured a 31-70 window, which could mean adjusting some settings. However, if the benchmark tool gives someone a 30 or lower, that means a person's PC system requirements are not ready for Street Fighter 6.

As a reminder, here are the Street Fighter 6 PC system requirements from Steam.

MINIMUM:

    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit required)
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-7500 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: GTX1060 (VRAM 6GB) / Radeon RX 580 (VRAM 4GB)
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 60 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

    • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)/Windows 11 (64 bit)

    • Processor: Intel Core i7 8700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600

    • Memory: 16 GB RAM

    • Graphics: RTX2070 / Radeon RX 5700XT

    • DirectX: Version 12

    • Storage: 60 GB available space

Street Fighter 6 will debut on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on June 2, 2023. It will also eventually appear in arcades.

Silent Hill Ascension Game

Multiple Silent Hill games are on the way, and there's a new look at the Silent Hill: Ascension "interactive series." The trailer notes that this will be more of an adventure line featuring multiple characters who find themselves dealing with the horrors of the town. As such, it means players' decisions decide what happens. There's still no exact release date, but it will appear in 2023 from Behaviour Interactive, Genvid, and Bad Robot Games.

Here's the Silent Hill: Ascension trailer showing off the new game's characters. It hints that like other entries, the people we'll follow are suffering from some sort of guilt due to their actions. While these protagonists are new, it does look like some monsters reminiscent of past ones appear. For example, it looks like Silent Hill 3's Insane Cancer might be back.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP6R0bC4LYI&ab_channel=GenvidEntertainment

Genvid also shared an announcement going over what to expect. While traditionally Silent Hill games take place in the town itself, the latest reveal says this new series features people "from locations around the world" and notes "entire towns" can fall victim to these sorts of happenings. It also notes there will be detailed characters and monsters. The latest update also said that the "live community" can help determine what happens to the characters.

Silent Hill: Ascension will appear in 2023.

Street fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 is a fighting game for everyone. With control schemes that will let you do cool things simply by mashing the buttons, a sprawling single player mode, and a character creation system that allows you to cobble together whatever moveset you like, it feels like something designed to give you whatever you want out of a fighting game. Not that it's leaving competitive players in the lurch, as its Drive Gauge system gives you plenty of tools to create wild combos from round start, an escape route from pressure, and an armored strike. Marry all this with a fantastic roster of new and old characters, and you have an exquisite fighting game.

Whether this is your first game or if you've been around since Street Fighter II, there are a few control schemes you can make use of to choose how you will be inputting your attacks and combos. Classic Control Type has the complex directional button inputs that long-time players will find instantly familiar. Quarter circle forward and punch to pull off Ryu's Hadouken, for example. Many of these inputs can be challenging when you're new at them, but since your special moves are tied to these inputs, that frees up more buttons for you to use light, medium, and heavy punches and kicks, as well as your Drive Impact and Drive Parry commands.

Being able to input complex motions can be difficult for some, especially when someone is punching you in the face. To make things a bit easier, Street Fighter 6 offers Modern Control Type. This features ties some special moves to a button, allowing you to use a fighter's flashier moves by pressing one button or a direction and a button or execute its Super Arts with a direction and two buttons. (Like how DNF Duel can work with its special moves.) For the Hadouken, you just hit Triangle on the default PS5 controller. It also simplifies your basic attacks, only offering single light, medium, and heavy attacks each tied to one face button. As to whether that's a punch or a kick, it depends on the character. Overall, it simplifies inputs and cuts down on the available choices to streamline the process of choosing what move to use, while making it easier to do your fancier attacks.

This makes for an interesting trade-off. The player using Modern Control Type loses access to the bigger variety of moves that come with Classic, but can pull off special moves with greater ease (and reliability, depending on skill level). Classic players have to do more complex inputs, but can play around with range and timing more effectively as they have more unique strikes than Modern players do. Modern players might find themselves having difficulty pulling over some more complex combos as well as they don't have all those strikes to use as links, but they gain the ability to use assisted combos by holding R2 and hitting a button multiple times. They're simpler combos for sure, but they still let the player do some multi-hitting strikes with vastly simpler inputs.

There's a third input style in Street Fighter 6: Dynamic Control Type. This one reads your situation and tries to choose solid moves based on your distance and the moment. This can result in a combo that leads right into your super, all from just hitting buttons. You can mash away, and the game will just do cool stuff that can be very effective. It doesn't matter which button you're hitting. The trouble is that it can be hard to know what the heck your character is going to do, so planning goes out the window. You can bet it will be something useful that looks cool, though.

[caption id="attachment_965385" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Street Fighter 6 review Image via Capcom[/caption]

Between these three styles, I feel like just about anybody can pick up the game and have some fun with it. Classic gives you a huge arsenal of things you can do, letting you put together some devious combos and setups, since you have so much to choose from. You just risk messing up the movements. Modern eases up the input challenges to let players use special moves without trouble, but reduces your available kit of strikes, reducing what you're capable of. Still, if you're having trouble with complex inputs, this takes them off the table. If you just want to smash buttons and see awesome stuff happen, you have Dynamic. Suddenly, your smaller siblings can be a real menace instead of easy pickings.

These style choices alone open Street Fighter 6 up to a much wider audience. I won't lie: for many years, I was one of those people who didn't play fighting games because of how hard the inputs were. I really wanted to love Street Fighter IV, but getting those inputs to work on a 360 controller D-Pad was making me furious. I didn't see any point in trying to get good at these games, because I just couldn't get the characters to do what I wanted them to. I'd had similar problems years before that when I was far younger as I'd just panic and jam on the buttons when the opponent came after me back when I was playing Street Fighter II as a kid. I loved the characters and the idea of the genre ever since the original, but the inputs were just too much for me for a variety of reasons.

These control styles eliminate all of the challenges I've faced with fighting games over the years. It's a little late as I finally embraced the nuances of complex inputs a few years ago thanks to some training with a friend (and because Guilty Gear Strive is a stunning fighter), but for people going through the various challenges I faced, these tools open up so much opportunity. I could have been playing fighting games for twenty or thirty more years if these Control Types had been there to let me do fantastic moves by mashing as a kid, or by simplifying those inputs on a frustrating controller years ago. Now, I can see them allowing whole swaths of new people to enjoy this franchise and fighting games in general.

Lots of people are going to want to play this game because the roster is fantastic, too. Ryu, Guile, Chun-Li, and several other classic fighters make their returns, and all with movesets that feel instantly familiar and super satisfying to put into action. What's really impressive is that the new cast members feel like they're just as fun and interesting. I've tried playing many fighters that introduce a lot of new characters before, but I lose interest quickly. Maybe it sounds like I want the same old thing, but I come to a lot of these games because I like the fighters I've been seeing over the years. I usually bounce off the new kids.

Street Fighter 6 adds some incredible new characters, though. Manon mixes up ballet dancing and judo, combining flowing kicks and some beautiful, but painful, throws. Those throws increase in damage and complexity as she lands them, making her ever-more threatening as the matches progress. Marisa is a massive practitioner of pankration, and she uses long reach and some armored attacks (which require multiple hits to knock her out of) to just steamroll through whatever your opponent is doing. JP is a ferocious zoner that uses Psycho Power to create traps, launch energy blasts that hit high/mid/low (and also grab), and teleport around. Lily has high mobility that will send her flying toward the opponent in moments, but also some vicious throws that make her even deadlier up close. I tried them all and just don't know who to pick.

The visual designs look great as well (mostly). Shirtless, beaded Ryu exudes this sense of confidence and calmness. However, that serenity fades when he hits you with some of his Super Arts, his face twisted with exertion and a near-rage. I initially was hesitant about Ken's shabby look, but watching him go wild with his fiery kicks looks so good. (Plus the banana hair from Street Fighter V is gone.) Marisa has this grinning confidence as she performs all of her moves that makes them feel all the more satisfying to use. JP has a similar feel with his hand behind his back and the way he lashes out with his cane. I'm not a big fan of overalls on Blanka and Manon's oddball outfit, but for the latter, it feels so good to watch her mix ballet and brutal throws that I just don't care.

Street Fighter 6 sounds great with every hit, too. The characters roar and shout with such force that you really feel the power, confidence, disdain, and enjoyment going into each attack. I stuck with the Japanese voices for my playthroughs, and they're just so well done that they add a ton of enjoyment to everything I did. Combining them with the heavy slams and crashes of combat in general and you really believed in the weight and impact of the combat. You can feel the exertion going into these fights, and it makes all your moves feel really good to use. There's a twinge on pleasure in even the most basic of movements just from the sound design alone. Well, that and because they already look good, too.

If you can't decide which of the characters you like, Street Fighter 6 lets you "combine" them. The game features an open-world mode called World Tour, during which you will make your own character. This allows you to use a character creator to make the usual monstrosities and neat warriors, then take them on a journey to gain strength and train under the various main playable characters of the game. With this training, you can start customizing your moveset. If you like Manon's throws and Marisa's armored strikes, you can equip individual moves into various slots for the character. You can't double up on two that use the same input, but you can really make some wild creations that pull from multiple fighters.

Best of all, Street Fighter 6 gives you a specific mode in the Battle Hub, where players can use these creations to fight online against ones others made. As you'd expect, these fights can be fairly silly. The game factors in the arm and leg length you chose in character creation when it dictates your ranges, so you can have some downright ridiculous striking distances. Where anyone can have just about any move, you spend a lot of the match just figuring out what will happen and finding yourself surprised, too. The fights are absurd and unbalanced, but since anything can happen, they're a ton of fun, too.

World Tour itself also has its own experience and equipment systems, playing more like an RPG where you explore Metro City and the world beyond with your created character (which I talked a bit about before). You're free to fight almost anyone on the street as you wander, steadily growing money and power as you work through a neat storyline that, as I said, connects you with much of the cast. This strength not only helps you progress in this mode, but your bonuses, levels, and equipment can be used in those specific character creation Battle Hub matches as well. This tends to make things wildly unbalanced, but as a mode just for fun, it's a blast.

World Tour isn't without some issues, though. They're minor ones, but they can still get annoying. Some of the damage dealt feels fairly unbalanced, with certain foes cleaning out your life bar despite being a similar level as you are. Also, since you can fight more than one opponent at a time, the game does have some trouble figuring out who you want to attack, so some of your inputs might not work if you switch foes or the direction you're facing. There are healing items and other tools to mitigate these issues, but these issues can create some frustrations while you're playing through World Tour. Again, this is a small irritation that really didn't take away much of my enjoyment, but it did get on my nerves a few times whenever I played.

[caption id="attachment_965383" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Street fighter 6 Image via Capcom[/caption]

I'm not saying that the World Tour is only good in how it gives you a character for the online Battle Hub in Street Fighter 6, though. As much as I'm here to fight live opponents, the character connections in World Tour are quite entertaining. The story is fun too, don't get me wrong, but having small chats with the various main characters helped flesh them out. It also made me build a connection with Chun Li, Marisa, and Dee Jay as I learned their skills, spoke with them, and brought them little gifts. You get to see other sides of these people that you don't get to experience in the fighting matches, and it was just really pleasant to get to know them all. There's all these silly, touching, and fun moments with the characters that made me like them even more.

Meeting the characters and talking with them is honestly what helped me experiment with them more. Once you start to like them, you can't help but want to play with them. Thankfully, Street Fighter 6 offers some fantastic character guides to help you get started with everyone. With most games, I've done this by turning on a move list and practicing. You CAN do that here, but the character guides actually walk you through all of the moves, their applications, and even some more 'advanced' basics that will show you what their full game plan is, as well as how to get some of their simple combos together. These give you a really good starting point with the character without even having to leave the game. They're a godsend when you're completely new with someone and are not sure what to do with their capabilities.

The best way to really get to know the character is to then take those new skills online. Street Fighter 6 was running well during the Beta, and online matches throughout the review period were smooth, too. I didn't experience any problems with slowdowns or disconnects while playing, and just found things worked really well. Being able to sit at an arcade seat to wait for an opponent in Battle Hub was a nice way of meeting up with fighters, too, while being able to practice until someone sat down with you.

You don't have to sit and wait in Battle Hub, though. You're free to open yourself up to Casual or Ranked matches and just have people enter fights while you walk around a vibrant arena filled with screens highlighting matches, players battle one another, and created characters duking it out on the floor. This mode does a fun job of capturing an arcade/tournament feel (or as good as you can get as a digital facsimile), letting you enjoy seeing what's going on in a small slice of a Street Fighter community before a challenger pops in and you're brought into a fight.

I have a few more compliments for this system. Rematches start in seconds, letting you get round after round in without much downtime. I loved being able to get right back at it. I also loved being able to meander while waiting for a match. The Battle Hub even has older Street Fighter games you can play while you're there, making it a fun space to wander while you're playing or waiting to play. It's just really well designed as a hub for being between matches, and gets you caught up in a sense of the bigger community around it all.

[caption id="attachment_965386" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Street Fighter 6 Image via Capcom[/caption]

This is a silly thing to like, but I can't help but bring it up. Street Fighter 6 lets you make faces with your character before a match starts. You have a choice of four different ones, but the character go through a little facial change from neutral to frowning, roaring, smiling, blowing out their cheeks, etc. You can tap the directional buttons to make these faces, but by doing it at different speeds, you can make them look like they're laughing or doing some really goofy things and gestures. The online players I ran into all seemed to be acting as silly as possible with the faces (which I initially felt would be a throwaway element), and I just got caught up in it. Making faces created this sense of fun and connection at the start of the fight, and ended up being a fantastic way to say hello to the opponent. It's such a small thing, but shows the playfulness and care Capcom put into the title.

You can see that playfulness in Fighting Ground, too. You get your usual local matches, arcade mode, online, and other s, but you also have Extreme Battle. These matches make you fight for who can get more knockdowns, who can dodge a bull while still laying beatdowns, and more. It's another playful mode built around adding goofy elements to fights, demonstrating that Capcom was willing to put just about anything into the game if they thought it would add some fun. Playing these matches feels less like serious competition, but getting some buddies together to fight around explosives (with Dynamic Control Type to ensure cool moves are happening) is a laugh riot.

When things get serious, though, there is the Drive Gauge system that fuels it all. You start with six bars at the beginning of every match in Street Fighter 6, which you are free to spend whenever you like. Want to jump right into using an Overdrive version of a move (an enhanced version of one of your Special Moves, basically) at round start? You can. Drive Rush to slam someone with an armored attack out of the gate? Maybe they won't expect it. The benefit of this system is that wild things are possible right from the beginning of the match rather than near the middle or end, adding some exciting moments all throughout.

The Drive Gauge also fuels many of your Drive abilities. Drive Impact lets you do a colorful, armored strike against you opponent to blow them back or knock them down. It's great for just powering through someone's special attacks or normal strikes, surprising them and giving you a moment to slap them around. If you see your foe doing this, you can hit the buttons and launch your own Drive Impact, which stops their Drive Impact and lets you hammer them instead. This tends to open them right up for a Super Art, so if you can time these right, you're going to have a good time.

Street Fighter 6 also has a Drive Parry, which lets you block and counter incoming attacks. You can hold the button to do so, making it easier to pull off (but it costs more Drive Gauge to do so), or you can try for the perfect parry by timing it exactly right. This lets you inflict a little pain back on your foes, making it a great tool to use (plus it's often faster than trying to counter with your own Drive Impact, and works in more instances, I feel).

[caption id="attachment_965391" align="alignnone" width="1200"]street fighter 6 Image via Capcom[/caption]

Getting stomped? If you're blocking, you can execute a Drive Reversal to smack an attacking opponent back and get a bit of breathing room. It's not much, but it can at least break their pressure for a moment so you can get your head together. If you're the one exerting pressure and want to continue it, though, you can double tap forward during certain moves (like cancellable normal strikes) to rush ahead and continue your assault.

However, if you spend all of your Drive Gauge on these various moves or see it drained from blocking, you'll enter Burnout in Street Fighter 6. Bad place to be. Normally, you Drive Gauge takes small chips of damage instead of your health while you have some bars. Once it's drained, your health starts to take little bits of damage while blocking. You lose access to all the Drive powers as well, and if you take a Drive Impact while you're in the corner, you'll be stunned for a few seconds. You're wide open and defenseless in this state, so expect a vicious beating if that happens. The Drive Gauge does refill over time as you land hits and avoid getting smacked, but does so much more slowly once you hit Burnout.

As the Drive Gauge fuels so many special abilities, you're going to want to use it. Use too much and take too many hits, though, and you'll be in a dangerous Burnout state. So, do you go all out and risk it anyway if you can keep up pressure? Save it for specific openings? It adds a lot of extra layers to each match, and the potential for some surprise upsets and turnarounds depending on how you use it. It's a fantastic, flexible system that keeps things exciting throughout the match in ways that layer on top of the already-compelling ebb and flow of basic character attacks.

There's a control type for everyone. There's a character for everyone. Modes that are serious and silly. Characters you can build yourself and then take online to horrify and delight. Hubs to meet the community and share in the spectacle of a fight. Practice tools to really help you learn characters. The ability to just make funny faces at people. A complex system that adds further complexity to the already-intriguing movesets of the game's many characters. Street Fighter 6 is playful, but still filled with depth for skilled fighters or those who just want to enjoy fighting games on their own terms. It's a wealth of content for just about anyone with an interest in the genre.

Most of all, it's the game I wish I had thirty years ago – the one that would have welcomed me to the genre when so much about it was scaring me off. I'm so happy that this is what people get to experience in this genre now, and am looking forward to meeting the new people this inclusive title will bring to fighting games.

Street Fighter 6 will be available on June 2, 2023 on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Ken And Ryu Fighting In Street Fighter 6Street Fighter 6 has come out to roaring praise across the board. It brings the notoriously inaccessible genre back to the masses with intuitive controls and a campaign with substance. Beautiful graphics render everyone's favorite characters in glorious detail as they get pummelled or deliver the pummelling around exciting arenas.      How Old Is Link In Tears Of The Kingdom TotkWith the vague time difference from Breath of the Wild to Tears of the Kingdom, it's hard to decipher character ages. The new sequel gives us some context clues to figure it out ourselves. But sadly, we're not exactly sure how long it's been between the two games. Still, we can speculate how old Link is in Tears of the Kingdom, as we try to answer that below! Link's age in Tears of the Kingdom To figure out how old Link is in Tears of the Kingdom, we have to look back to Breath of the Wild. Just like when we speculated how old Zelda is in Tears of the Kingdom, the predecessor has some key clues. All the right clues comes from the flashbacks from memories in Breath of the Wild. We knew that Zelda had her 17th birthday very close to the Calamity. But what about Link? Well, it's very likely that Link and Zelda share a similar age. This is because in one of the flashbacks, we learn that he climbed Mount Lanayru. Zelda notes in another memory th...
