Iconic Half-Life character isn't who we think he is, Valve dev says

Half-Life characters are still, to this day, hiding a lot of secrets. We know very little about Gordon Freeman. G-Man is a total mystery. And even with the latest entry in the Valve FPS game series, we're still learning a lot about Alyx and her background before the events of Half-Life 2. One recent fan theory, however, involving Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer and one of the iconic scientist NPCs from Black Mesa, has led us to an unexpected revelation. It turns out one of the most recognizable faces from Half-Life doesn't belong to who we thought.

Baldur's Gate 3 Dragonborn race overview

Who are the Baldur's Gate 3 Dragonborn? As one of the more customizable playable races of the 11 available in Baldur's Gate 3, there's a lot to think about when it comes to choosing your Dragonborn's ancestry. You can choose to opt for any ancestry, such as one that protects you from the cold while giving you icy cool breath, or perhaps you wish to lean into the stereotype and give them the ability to spit out draconic hellfire.

If you can't decide, don't worry. We're here to walk you through everything there is to know about Dragonborn in Baldur's Gate 3. While we won't be able to play as this race until the Baldur's Gate 3 release date, there's plenty of info out there about how to make them using DnD 5th edition rules. Your choice of ancestry shouldn't have much effect on your BG3 companions, but if you choose the Dark Urge origin, that could throw several spanners in the works, no matter which of the classes you choose to play as.

What are the Baldur's Gate 3 races? No matter which one you choose, the opening cinematic shows them becoming an unwilling host to a toothy little eyeball tadpole. It threatens to transform us into a Mind Flayer - an evil Eldrich creature with powerful magical abilities. Of course, you won't have any control over the presence of your parasite pal wriggling around your insides, but you can at least customize your character's appearance.

Baldur's Gate 3 has a wide variety of races to choose from, with some divided into unique subraces that come with their own perks. If you create your character, you can additionally select your class and character background, perhaps even taking on the Dark Urge origin. Now that we're so close to the Baldur's Gate 3 release date, it's time to take a closer look at the character archetypes to explore the Forgotten Realms.

What are the new GPO codes? We've got the lot! Often topping the charts when it comes to anime-inspired Roblox adventures, Grand Piece Online codes are becoming increasingly rare, making them all the more valuable with each new update. They're a great way to keep ahead of the competition or, if you're new, make an immediate dent in the world. They're also good for getting secondary characters over the starting hurdles. But they expire fast.

Released all the way back in 2021, Grand Piece Online still sees hundreds of thousands of eager pirates and marines flock to its shores every day. And although there's certainly no shortage of Roblox adventures inspired by the One Piece anime and manga, this one still closely competes with the biggest and best. For those, you'll want to check out Blox Fruits codes and King Legacy codes. For the latest competitors to the throne, Pixel Piece codes are proving popular, with Anime Souls Simulator codes and Anime Dimensions codes there for anyone looking for a more varied anime experience. Now, let's run through all the Grand Piece Online codes and how to redeem them.

Under the new rights holders Studio 2.21, cult classic series Little Big Adventure was set to make a comeback after three decades off-grid, with original creator Didier Chanfray attached to the projects. The comeback plans included an all-new reboot, plus remasters for the two 1990s action-adventure games. But today, the studio announced that they were "unsuccessful in securing a publisher," which has led to the reboot's cancellation and layoffs at the developer.

"Despite our earnest efforts," CEO Ben Limare wrote in a blog post, "we were unsuccessful in securing a publisher for the reboot of Twinsen's Little Big Adventure." According to Limare, the reasons for this are threefold: genre appeal, the series' limited recognition, and the planned costs. "Despite a passionate, albeit small, community of fans, Twinsen's Little Big Adventure isn't globally recognized, which added to the hesitations of potential publishers," wrote Limare.

"While indie game studios can often deliver remarkable games with lean teams (as we've seen with Death's Door and Tunic), our vision for this project involved a team of 15 to 20 people, echoing the original game's size," he continued. "This considerable investment, juxtaposed with the risk inherent to the genre and IP, was a factor in the decision."

In writing about games like A Little To The Left or current RPS Game Club pick Unpacking, I often have to point out that I am a weird little gremlin who loves puzzles and putting things in the right place in games, but not actually in real life. In real life, I write to you today from a desk covered in a weird detritus of work and life that wouldn't quite see me on an exploitative reality TV show with the word hoarder somewhere in the title, but, you know... maybe give it 15 years.

But I bloody love tidying things in games. Getting everything in the right place. And something that makes it extra enjoyable in Unpacking is the sound design. The house itself is quiet, but everything in the game makes a little noise when you put it away or hang it up or slide it in a shelf, and it's all stuff you recognise from home. It makes the whole experience feel domestic and familiar.

Now that Diablo 4's new season has arrived, I thought I'd give the game another shot. So, in an evening spare of stuff to do, I booted the game up and created a druid called ANIMALS. After a few hours of pressing 1,3,2,4, in either the same pattern or different patterns, I've come to realise the game doesn't make me feel anything. I bash some skeletons, I equip a staff, I exit to Windows, I couldn't care less. Maybe, though, it's not such a bad thing?

I know I said I'd like Diablo 4 to channel Vampire Survivors and give me an auto-attack switch, so I could just steer my character through encounters without having to think at all. I still stand by my stubbornness! But having obliterated more packs of rabid wolves and legions of demons, I've come to develop what I think is ARPG muscle memory.

CD Projekt Red have announced another batch of layoffs, this time affecting "around 100" employees, or roughly 9% of the company's total headcount. The redundancies won't take place immediately, according to CDPR, as some employees won't lose their jobs until early next year at the latest.

"There's no easy way to say this, but today we are overstaffed," said CEO Adam Kiciński in an 'organisational update' posted to the company's website. "We have talented people on board who are finishing their tasks and — based on current and expected project needs — we already know we don't have other opportunities for them in the next year," he continued.

"To meet our own high expectations and ambitions to create the best role-playing games, we not only want to have the best people but also the right teams," says Kiciński. "What we mean by that is having teams that are built around our projects' needs; teams that are more agile and more effective… After reshaping our development process and incorporating Agile methodologies, we're now focusing on refining the shape of our teams." Those projects in question include another Witcher trilogy, a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, and an all-new IP codenamed Project Hadar. That's in addition to the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion called Phantom Liberty.

Watch manufacturer Seiko announced the release of a new Hatsune Miku collaboration watch. The watch costs 58,080 JPY (or about $413), and its expected release date is December 2023. The new Hatsune Miku watch is now available for purchase from the Premico online store. [Thanks, Dengeki Hobby!]

The new watch is called the "Happy 16th Birthday" watch, and it celebrates the anniversary of the creation of the character back in 2007. The watch will be limited to only 3,900 units available worldwide, and it will include a serial number in the back.

Additionally, an acrylic stand for the watch will be included with its purchase. The illustration for the stand is designed by artist Rella. (You can find Rella's work at Pixiv.)

Producer Katsuhiro Harada said this next Tekken 8 Closed Network Test is focusing on cross-play and asked people not not cancel matches

Ahead of the Tekken 8 Closed Network Test part 2 on July 28, 2023, Producer Katsuhiro Harada requested people to not cancel cross-play matching. This is because the team is specifically looking to test how fights work between people on different platforms. He also already brought up two issues people might expect to encounter during this PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC test.

Both of the possible issues Bandai Namco is aware of for the next Tekken 8 Closed Network Test have to do with cross-play. One is that it could take more time to load a match. The game could also crash during a fight because of this. There could also be "synchronization discrepancies."

Previously, Harada discussed other plans for the game following the first Closed Network Test on the PS5. He responded to positive feedback for it, but noted that there could still be times when it would take a while for matches to load.

Tekken 8 will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the next Closed Network Test will be held July 28-31, 2023.

People can't hop into tournaments in the Street Fighter 6 Battle Hub at the moment due to an issue, and Capcom's working on it.

Due to an issue in Street Fighter 6's Battle Hub, Capcom "temporarily" stopped its tournaments. It noted that prior to taking that action, people attempting to get into one would find it wouldn't start. It didn't offer a timeline as to when the issue would be fixed, and only noted that it is aware of the issue and looking for a remedy.

Here's the announcement explaining the temporary Street Fighter 6 tournaments suspension while Capcom looks for a solution to the problem.

It isn't uncommon for such problems to pop up in Street Fighter 6, and typically they're identified and a brief maintenance period occurs to remedy the issues. For example, we saw a cross-play situation solved swiftly in June 2023. There were also recently issues with Rental Fighter tickets not working and Rashid with Ysaar on July 24, 2023, and a brief maintenance period on July 25, 2023 fixed it. So we could see Street Fighter 6 Battle Hub tournaments returning just as swiftly.

Street Fighter 6 is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Where To Find Opal In Dave The DiverThroughout this diving adventure and restaurant simulator, you'll not only be catching fish, but collecting crafting materials. Anything from wood, rope, and glass can become useful in Dave the Diver once you unlock weapon upgrades. In the Blue Hole, you'll also find plenty of ore veins, some of them containing Opal. We'll explain where you can find Opal in Dave the Diver. Dave the Diver: Opal ore locations Not only is Opal used for certain weapon upgrades, but it's also needed for specific side quests. A Blacksmith in the Sea People Village asked me to find him three pieces of Opal, which I hadn't found yet at the time. Where you can find Opal in Dave the Diver is around 200 meters below surface in the Blue Hole Depths. To get this deep into the Depths, make sure you grab a UV Light from one of the yellow boxes. This will allow you to pass through the Tube Coral and get deeper underwater. Screenshot by PC Invasion You'll know Opal when ...

Nightfall is an incredibly good Long Gun, in fact, people are saying it's the best weapon in Remnant 2. While the Long Gun is really strong, what makes Nightfall amazing is its Weapon Mod, Dreadwalker, which gives you infinite ammo for 10 seconds, 10% Lifesteal, a 35% increase in fire rate, and the weapon becomes fully automatic. If you want to make Remnant 2 a bit easier, you need to get Nightfall — here's how. Note: While Nightfall might be the best Long Gun in Remnant 2, you can find the MP60-R SMG which is the best Hand Gun in the game to have the ultimate combo. How to unlock Nightfall in Remnant 2 The only way to get Nightfall in Remnant 2 is to get to Losomn, which is an area you can't start out in, so rerolling you campaign to get Losomn is out of the question. Find the final area in Losomn and encounter the final boss, the Nightweaver. After defeating the Nightweaver, which may take a few tries, you'll complete the Losomn questline an...

Where to get Bender's Shiny Metal Raygun in FortniteA Fortnite x Futurama collab is something we never knew we needed. The collaboration has shaken up the weapon pool and made some fun changes to the map. The Planet Express ship (Old Bessie) has crash landed in Mega City, but most importantly, there's a powerful new toy to play with. If you want to try it out yourself, let me show you where the get Bender's Shiny Metal Raygun in Fortnite. Where to get Bender's Shiny Metal Raygun in Fortnite According to the official patch notes, Bender's Shiny Metal Raygun can " be found from the ground." In my testing, the Raygun appears to be extremely rare as ground loot, but it does exist. I got my first one by killing a bot, so there are multiple ways to obtain your own. Much like the Cybertron Cannon, Bender's Shiny Metal Raygun can appear anywhere, but it's much rarer than the traditional weapons. If you can handle the heat of Mega City, Bender always spawns on the Pier. You can purchas...

With each Archetype having its own pros and cons, it can be hard to choose which one you want to go with. Making matters more complicated is the secret Archetypes hidden throughout the game. The Engineer is one such Archetype, and here's how you get it in Remnant 2. Remnant 2: How to get the Engineer Archetype In order to find the Engineer Archetype in Remnant 2, you first need to get to the second overworld area of N'Erud. If N'Erud was the first world you went to, this should be easy to reach. However, if you've yet to enter N'Erud, just keep playing the game until you finally reach this point. Screenshot by PC Invasion Once you're in N'Erud's second overworld area there's a tedious job we have to do. We're looking for a small area hidden behind the fog.
