Starfield length – how long to beat

How long is Starfield? It's the question everyone embarking on this space journey into the unknown will be wondering because as we all know, there's usually enough content in a Bethesda RPG to keep players occupied years after release.

We've learned about how Starfield base building will work, and we know there'll be over a thousand Starfield planets to explore, but what about the length of the game? If you've played another Bethesda RPG game such as Fallout 4 or Skyrim, then you probably have a good idea of how long Starfield is. As we mentioned in our Starfield review, it's a bit of a chunky one.

     Starfield digipicks and lockpicking explained

What is Starfield digipicking? There's going to be stuff in space that people don't want you to get your grubby little mitts on. They lock their cases, their cabinets, hell, even their doors. The fools. They don't know that you're already a master of digipicking - the futuristic version of Starfield lockpicking, obviously - and it'll take much more than a silly lock to stand in your way.

The Starfield release date is edging ever closer, and the smell of adventure is in the air - well, in your spacesuit, anyway - if you're anything like us, you can't wait to gather your companions, build your own Starfield spaceship, and set off into the final frontier. With the help of Starfield digipicks, you can lockpick doors and containers, or even hack robots and Starfield turrets to disable them or turn them friendly.

Starfield FOV is a nightmare, but there's a way to fix it

Starfield FOV settings, or rather the lack of Starfield FOV settings, are causing issues already in the new Bethesda RPG game. If you want to draw back and get a wider look at the successor to Skyrim, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls series, as of the Starfield early access period, you simply can't. As noted in our Starfield review, this is a glorious, expansive evolution of the Bethesda formula, but not without its pitfalls. However, at least one of these can be remedied right now. This is how to fix Starfield FOV.

     Starfield new game plus explained

Does Starfield have new game plus? Bethesda is not known for including new game plus modes in their games - Fallout 3 and 4 didn't feature one, and neither did Oblivion or Skyrim, but more games than ever are starting to incorporate new game plus as a way to increase replayability.

Not that you'll necessarily need it here, as there are over 1000 Starfield planets in the space opera, and when it comes to the Starfield length, just the main story runs into tens of hours. Chuck in all the side content and exploration you can do and you're looking at hundreds of hours if you want to see anything - if, upon completion, you immediately want to start all over again with new game plus, then you are a more dedicated player than I. However, with that said, new game plus is definitely a mode that will pique my interest after a break, so here's all the information we have on Starfield new game plus.

After the Steam Deck and the Asus ROG Ally, it's Lenovo's turn to have a go at handheld gaming PCs with the newly-announced, Windows 11-powered Legion Go. It's a chunky lad compared to its peers, weighing 854g and packing an 8.8in display, but promises a bigger battery and – most interestingly – a pair of Nintendo Switch-style detachable controllers.

These are partly intended to simply give your wrists a rest, setting the Legion Go down on its (also Switch-esque) integrated kickstand while you play with the loose controllers. The right pad, mind, also includes an optical sensor on the bottom, so you can swish it around a desk like a vertical mouse. Potentially a difference-maker for FPS games? We won't need to wait long to find out, as the Legion Go is launching on October 31st. It'll cost a surprisingly un-spooky £699 / $699.
