Geeta, the League Champ from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was a bit of a let down.      One of Steam's best strategy games is 80% off, and there's new DLC

Humankind is one of those strategy games that immediately catches your eye due to its similarity to other great entries to the genre. While it definitely shares a lot of good qualities with classics such as Civilization, the historical city builder from Amplitude Studios and Sega comes with its own unique flair. If you're searching for a game that lets you rewrite history, then you should grab Humankind while its Steam sale lasts. The fun doesn't end there, as new DLC just dropped and it's also discounted.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Character Tier List

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis features a handful of characters plucked from different Final Fantasy VII games. This includes Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, and the short-lived Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. While you obtain all characters for free, some characters are better than others in terms of what they can provide for your teams. You can read our Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis tier list below to get an idea of who you may want to use.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Character Tier List

Please keep in mind that this list only includes characters made available during the launch of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis and is entirely subjective.

The characters below are part of what we would consider S-Rank in FFVII Ever Crisis.

Aerith

By far one of the best characters in the entire game, Aerith is an integral part of any team that you want to tailor around more challenging content. This is strictly because of her Limit Break, Healing Wind. As it stands, Aerith is the only character that has a Limit Break that is capable of healing. While other characters can heal your party either through Weapon Skills or Materia, Aerith is always a solid choice for healing, as she is the most reliable due to Healing Wind. You can also significantly increase her healing through her Gear, or Sub Weapons. For this reason, Aerith is at the top of the tier list.

[caption id="attachment_983551" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Character Tier List Screenshot via Siliconera[/caption]

Tifa

Another great choice purely because of her Limit Break that can reduce the M DEF (Magic Defense) and P DEF (Physical Defense) of single enemy. She is great in Dungeons or any Co-Op Content, since most of these are fights with a single enemy. While she can be hard to recommend for a team situated around farming materials, Tifa is generally a great pick due to her high damage output in combination with her Limit Break. Set Tifa up with Weapons that increase her DPS and offensive Materia and you'll have a solid DPS and debuffer on your team. Additionally, with the Seasonal Lifeguard Wraps she can heal your entire party, similar to Aerith. And if you acquired the Gear from the special Seasonal Banner, she has better damage output with a comparable level of healing. This makes Tifa one of the best characters in the game, if you have the necessary Weapons to support her.

Red XIII

Red XIII works on the opposite spectrum of Tifa. He can reduce P ATK (Physical Attack) and M ATK (Magic Attack) a single enemy, which is great for Dungeons. Especially if you find yourself taking extreme amounts of damage from a single enemy. This can be done through the use of his Limit Break. His Weapons can also provide additional support in increasing the M DEF (Magic Defense) and P DEF (Physical Defense) of your allies. Of course other characters can do this too, but Red XIII is as close to a traditional support as you can currently get in Ever Crisis, especially since he also has a Weapon that is capable of healing your party. While not as physically strong as Tifa in terms of DPS, or having the same kind of healing potency as Aerith, Red XIII is still a great addition to any team.

Glenn

An entirely new character to the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, he is one of two new protagonists that appear through The First Soldier Story Missions. What puts Glenn on this list, is his ability to do incredible amounts of AoE damage, and single target damage. The only other character that rivals him in AoE damage is Matt, who is another The First Soldier character, though his attacks are more specific to Magic damage. Glenn can decently fill both roles, and packs a punch with his free Weapon, the Apology in Hell. Since he also gets Weapons that let him perform AoE skills, he's a good pick for farming team compositions as well.

A-Rank

  • Matt - Matt makes the A-Rank list mostly because his Weapons come with some really great AoE attacks. This means that he is an exceptional character when it comes to farming materials in combination with characters like Zack. Additionally, his Galactic Shield Limit Break makes him a great party member, you just have to work a bit to unlock it.
  • Cloud - This is mostly because Ever Crisis provides you with enough materials to have a decent Weapon for Cloud that can get you through some of the earlier content, making him a decent DPS and potential tank, for your team. Outside of this, Cloud is mostly fine, just like Zack, and is only as good as the Weapons and Materia you equip him with.
  • Lucia - While she doesn't have any group healing skills, Lucia is capable of debuffing enemies and even applying status effects to this. Very few characters in FFVII Ever Crisis do this outside of lowering PDEF, PATK, MDEF, and MATK. Lucia can actually Silence enemies, which puts her a head above the rest.

B-Rank

  • Zack - He's great because you get a free Weapon for him when you start the game. But his damage can drop off very fast by comparison to other party members, and his AoE damage is element specific. Which makes him a hard recommend for quick farming groups. That said, he's still a solid DPS.
  • Barret - Much like Zack, he's more or less just a DPS. He can heal, but it isn't as good as Aerith or Red XIII. His Limit Break, Mindblow, is similar to Tifa's, but requires you to unlock it or he'd be higher on the list.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is immediately available for Android and iOS.

Starfield Mod Support Confirmed

In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, Bethesda CEO Todd Howard announced plans for official mod support for Starfield. When asked about the possibility of players using mods to enhance their experience and add new creatures to the planets, Todd openly affirmed his ambition to make it happen. However, it won't happen until 2024. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

When talking to Famitsu, Howard stated the following.

With mods, you will be able to do almost anything, as in previous works. Mod support will be available next year, but we love it too, so we'll do it in a big way.

Starfield has been in development at Bethesda since 2015. The original idea for the universe came to be in 2013. Although the game is already expansive, Howard made it clear that he believed mod support would only elevate the overall experience. While there is no official mod support yet, Nexus Mods already has a section for it and players are creating and releasing mods.

Bethesda holds a track record for including mod support for its intellectual properties. For example, in both Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, mod support was present.

Starfield was released on September 6, 2023. It is the first new IP for Bethesda in 25 years.

Starfield is available worldwide for the PC and Xbox Series X.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line Xenogears

Square Enix announced the songs for the Theatrhythm Final Bar Line Xenogears DLC pack. Three tracks from the game will be included. The company previously announced the pack as part of the Season 3 DLC line-up. It will be released on September 20, 2023.

The pack contains three Xenogears tracks playable in Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. These are:

  • "Awakening"
  • "Blazing Knights"
  • "Soaring"

All three tracks were composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, who is also well known for his work on Chrono Trigger. He recently composed music for Sea of Stars.

Here's the official trailer for this song pack. Only "Blazing Knights" and "Soaring" appear in it.

This isn't the first time that songs from outside the Final Fantasy series have appeared in Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. Other Square Enix games besides Xenogears that have received DLC packs include Chrono Trigger, The World Ends With You, Nier Automata and the SaGa series. There will be more Final Fantasy music too though, as a Final Fantasy XVI pack is on its way in November 2023.

Xenogears released on the PlayStation in 1998 and is considered one of the greatest RPGs released for the system. It was originally conceived as a pitch for Final Fantasy VII before becoming its own game. Following its release, director Tetsuya Takahashi formed his own company, Monolith Soft, which went on to create the Xenosaga and Xenoblade Chronicles franchises.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line is out now for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The Xenogears pack will be released on September 20, 2023.

Gawr Gura revealed her new outfit on September 10, 2023, and it turns out she released a new cover song too. The costume is a school uniform design. As for the track, she performed a rendition of the Vocaloid song "Kyoufuu All Back."

Here's the stream revealing the new Gawr Gura outfit. To go along with the school theme, part of it involved a Shark Quiz that began at the 23 minute mark. Prior to that, she shared guesses about the outfit and then did the full costume reveal.

As for the new Gawr Gura cover song, here she is performing "Kyoufuu All Back." This was originally a Yukopi song performed by Kaai Yuki. The cover version's music video features the same sort of animation, only with the Vtuber as the character and in her new attire.

Gawr Gura isn't the only member of Hololive English Myth to get a new outfit recently. Earlier in September 2023, Amelia Watson got an astronaut-themed one.. Kiara Takanashi also recently appeared in a new alter outfit designed by SWAV, who did designs for Tales of Arise. Calliope Mori also ended up with a One Piece-themed one after performing a new song for the manga.

Starfield Cockpit DevelopmentWith both the scope and budgets of AAA games increasing dramatically in recent years, the development cycles of these titles have become longer on average. And considering the absolutely massive scale of Starfield, it stands to reason that Bethesda had this game in the metaphorical oven for a good while. But exactly how long did the development on Starfield last? How many years did it take to develop Starfield? Prior to the release of Starfield, Fallout 4 served as the last major single-player open-world title that Bethesda put out. That game came out all the way back in November 2015, so almost eight years have passed since then. Development on Starfield began in earnest in 2016, presumably only a couple of months after Fallout 4's release. Todd Howard, the director of Starfield, confirmed this in an interview with podcast host Lex Friedman posted around nine months ago. While the idea for Starfield surfaced well before 2016, the actual development of the game, judging ...
