Apple predictably touted the news as the "next generation of…

Disney Dreamlight Valley recipes list and how to cook them

What are all the Dreamlight Valley recipes? Cooking is crucial to success in the Disney life sim as you'll need to cook up some tasty grub to earn Dreamlight, make friends, and keep your stamina up. There are over 190 recipes to discover so far, and that's a lot of recipes to keep track of. Luckily, once you've made a recipe once it automatically saves to your in-game cook book, so we're here to get your recipe list bursting at the seams.

The way to the hearts of all the Dreamlight Valley characters can be found through their stomachs, but it's equally important to keep yourself well-fed, too. Some Dreamlight Valley recipes - like the bouillabaisse recipe - offer more stamina than others, and while some can be obtained from completing quests, such as Remy's ratatouille recipe and Minnie's picnic favourites: crudites and fish sandwiches, others are unlocked by trying different ingredients together.      Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay explained

Does Mortal Kombat 1 have crossplay? In the modern era of fighting games, there are a few features that many players expect to come as standard. While not as essential as being fun to play or having a decent rollback-based net code, another important factor is to grow a healthy player base via crossplay. With this feature, those on platforms with fewer players can still reliably find matches against players around the world.

Being able to play Mortal Kombat 1 in matches against friends on different devices is the dream. After all, some may want to play the game as their favorite Mortal Kombat 1 characters but can't afford to spend money on a PC gaming rig. So, as the Mortal Kombat 1 release date draws near, with the Mortal Kombat 1 early access coming even sooner, here's everything you need to know about Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay and whether or not it's possible.

     Best games like Minecraft 2023

What are the best games like Minecraft? Way back in 2010, a little game called Minecraft proved to be a revelation in video games, inspiring a whole generation of players and developers in the process. It's a blocky, sandbox world that essentially lets us create anything we like and share it with our friends. The cultural phenomenon sold millions of copies before Microsoft acquired developer Mojang Studios in 2014.

There's been a plethora of Minecraft clones over the years, doing their best to match one of the best PC games of all time, but few have really delivered the whole package like Minecraft does. Sometimes, though, you may only want part of the Minecraft experience, augmented with other aspects that make the Minecraft-like unique. That's where this guide to the best games like Minecraft comes in. All the games on this list are similar to Minecraft in some fashion, be they crafting games, building games, adventure games, or an altogether different part of what makes Minecraft our favorite blocky game.

The best ninja games on PC 2023

What are the best ninja games? Sneaking through the shadows, lithely climbing and dashing your way to an unsuspecting target; clashing swords with a rival in a climactic battle; methodically planning your next move to catch the enemy unaware. There are a lot of reasons why ninja games are so appealing. As gamers, we revel in fantasies of power and experiences out of our reach, and ninja games are pretty high on the list of "we wish we could do that".

Luckily, some of the best PC games let you play as a ninja. In fact, it's a pretty crowded genre, and hacking through the chaff with a katana will only get you so far. In order to make the search a bit easier, we've gone ahead and curated this list of the best ninja games like Warframe that will sate your inner ninja. Plenty of classics are present, like 3D stealth sims, but we have also included some off-the-wall games to illustrate just how varied the ninja scene is. Go on, take a look below.      Lies of P review – the best soulslike since Elden Ring

We all saw Lies of P and went 'that looks familiar.' No, I'm not talking about the Pinocchio storyline but the fact that, at first glance, it's very reminiscent of FromSoftware's Bloodborne, one of the best soulslike RPG games ever made. While my immediate concern was that this would just be a 'Bloodborne at home' situation, Lies of P shakes itself free of its inspiration's strings with its expansive level design and innovative systems - but sometimes spins a few too many plates for its own good.

Alan Wake 2 is longer than any other game that Remedy has ever made, director Sam Lake confirms, as we rapidly approach the Alan Wake 2 release date. An ambitious sequel to the 2010 original, Alan Wake 2 is a story-driven horror game with a twist, as you control two characters whose narratives intersect at key moments. If you've played Control, Quantum Break, Max Payne, Max Payne 2, or the original Wake, Alan Wake 2 is set to keep you entertained for much longer, with a runtime that Lake says is roughly double that of Remedy's usual games.

The best tank games on PC 2023

What are the best tank games on PC? Rolling into battle in a vehicle that weighs the same as ten elephants and can raze entire buildings with a single shot simply never gets old, but it's not always easy to find a tank game that delivers in all the key areas. If you're looking for the best free tank games or the biggest triple-A armoured division sims, you've come to the right place.

Just like the best war games, the best tank games are brilliant because they're all about making you, the player, feel both overpowered and invulnerable. But the tank in some of the best free PC games is also synonymous with tense firefights and immense claustrophobia. The agony of reloading, the snail's pace, and the fact that you're the enemy's priority target - and not a small one at that - make tank games as nerve-wracking as they are empowering.

You can't fault the pitch. In Gunbrella you're a sort of cowboy dude with a shotgun that's also an umbrella. You use the umbrella to deflect enemy projectiles, block attacks, fly up into the air like a furious Mary Poppins and zoom along ziplines. You use the shotgun, as you might reasonably expect, to do the majority of your big murdering.

Gunbrella is a classic 2D platform shooter in the style of a steampunk western. It's like Deadwood crossed with Singin' In The Rain, if Gene Kelly ever used his umbrella to blow holes through anyone who didn't sufficiently praise his tap dancing. Some light exploration bits have you travelling by train from frontier towns to mining villages, much of them decorated with giant spinning cogs – so you know it's steampunk – and populated by a small cast of quest-giving locals, pill-dispensing shopkeepers and monologuing villains.

There's something that feels oddly momentous about sending one of Dune: Spice Wars' harvesters to get to work worm-dodging while hoovering up MSG (magical space glitter). It was, after all, Dune II's implementation of these trucks that are largely responsible for the shape of the entire RTS genre. I've mused before that if you count Alien as something that wouldn't exist without Dune, along with the effects the RTS had on esports, it's wild to consider how different gaming could have been if Frank Herbert hadn't visited Florence in 1957 to chronicle a natural phenomenon. It's one heck of a butterfly effect, which is fitting, because Spice Wars itself can often feel like a creative exploration of how integral butterfly effects are to grand strategy rulesets. Forget those harvesters for a moment, because this dry but undeniably captivating 4X is all about the steamroll.

One of my favourite TV shows is The Rookie, because you never have any idea what could happen next. No episode can go more than five minutes without some kind of twist, often with no relation to anything that has happened up until that point. Like, you think the stand-off between criminals and their victims in a courthouse nuclear bunker has been resolved, but it turns out that while the camera was off him, a lawyer got stabbed by someone else. Hauma is bringing that kind of energy to the visual novel space.

You play as Judith, a former detective and champion boxer who's wrapped up in solving the case her grandfather was working on before he died. On its face, Hauma is therefore a detective game in a pretty cool 2D comic book-style, with a slightly worse version of the Frogwares Sherlock Holmes mind palace as your inventory of clues, which you combine to logic your way through puzzles. But at the point where you're in a tunnel under the ruins of a Nazi temple in Munich, having discovered that the MacGuffin is a shin bone carved with the recipe for an eternal life drink (which was stolen by some nuns and taken to Bavaria, and then the nuns all got pregnant I guess?) - and, secondly, having recently survived a massive explosion at an Oktoberfest beer tent - you kind of think, well, things have gotten quite out of hand, haven't they?

Cor, has it really been almost half a year since we've done one of these? Apologies, readers. I honestly don't know where the time goes. It's probably because we're spending too much time with our favourite guilty pleasure games, which is the subject of this latest Ask RPS column.

The question comes courtesy of ronzilla, who asked: What were your favourite guilty pleasure games of 2022? As in, I play this all the time and I'm semi-embarrassed to admit it?

A good question! In canvassing the wider RPS Treehouse for their responses, it quickly became clear that most of our guilty pleasure games extend way beyond the bounds of just the year 2022, so we've answered a bit more broadly than the original question perhaps intended. Still, hopefully there are still some entertaining answers in here nonetheless.

The internet isn't fun anymore. Actually, that statement isn't severe enough to reflect how bad the internet is these days, so let me try that again: being online in 2023 is a fucking nightmare. There are only three websites. They are all designed to make you angry because it's the most profitable emotion. Your aunt was indoctrinated into fascism by a page called "This country used to have real bin men" after she liked a meme about glass milk bottles in 2012. Every boy you went to school with has a podcast about football now. Your Mam once warned you about spending too much time on the computer but now spends eight hours a day playing Hay Day on her phone. AI was meant to let us lie in fields and read books, but instead it's being used to show you what Breaking Bad would have looked like as an anime.

But it didn't used to be like this! Obviously I don't need to remind our regular readers about the glory days of the information superhighway because some of you are old enough to be my Dad (and I'm thirty-one) but just in case a member of Gen Z has stumbled upon this article by accident: the internet used to be fun. Like, really fun, and Hypnospace Outlaw is living proof of it.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Patch

Nintendo released new patch notes for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 2.1.1. They address some issues regarding the gameplay of the Stalker class, and audio issues for players that do not have the Expansion Pass. The patch appeared on the evening of September 12, 2023.

The new Xenoblade Chronicles 3 patch focuses on tuning the Staying Power Art of the Stalker class. Staying Power deploys a Field of Effect that grants the Art Follow-Up buff to members of the party. Art Follow-Up deals damage equal to 2 times the attack stat of the character who set the Field.

Previously, when using Fusion Arts within the Field would cause the Follow-Up Attack damage to be dealt to members of the party. The patch has fixed this and now the ability works as intended.

Additionally, the patch fixes an issue for players that did not own the Expansion Pass where the Special Hero BGM, Audio environment in Audio Setting, and Notifications would not display in the menus.

Here are the full Xenoblade Chronicles 3 patch notes for 2.1.1.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where not having the Expansion Pass would cause the Special Hero BGM, Audio environment in Audio Setting, as well as Notifications to not display.

  • Fixed an issue with Staying Power's Art Follow-Up, where activating Fusion Arts would cause the Follow-Up Attack damage to be dealt to the character using Fusion Arts and allies.

The previous Ver. 2.1.0 patch appeared on July 19, 2023, and it added compatibility with the new Pyra and Mythra amiibo figures, allowing for the Swordfighter class to equip the Pyra and Mythra Aegis swords as a skin replacing the default sword.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is available for the Nintendo Switch. Future Redeemed is a DLC expansion for the game, and it appeared with Wave 4 of the Expansion Pass DLC.

Lies of P

Rain falls against cobblestone, dull yellow lights penetrating through the gloom that has settled over a once opulent city. Puppets made of steel wander the streets in vague patterns, circling rooms filled with the bodies of the humans that occupied these buildings. Their eyes glow red, a color of recognition and warning as they stumble towards you. This is far from the Pinocchio fairytale Lies of P draws inspiration from, but it makes for a compelling setting as it pulls various themes and narrative threads from the popular fable. While the game attempts to spin its own yarn, drawing from FromSoftware's catalogue of games in some bid to replicate their tried and true style of action RPG, Lies of P tries and sometimes succeeds at what it sets out to do. While it may not hit every mark, it's a show in what can happen with an ambitious developer takes enough creative liberties with an established IP to make it interesting.

Lies of P is a great demonstration of how game developers can use a public domain IP to create something unique, unlike previous attempts to capitalize on other stories like Robin Hood or King Arthur to little effect. Because it is fairly loose with the source material, it feels more or less like a narrative that draws inspiration from Pinocchio, but creates something that is still fundamentally itself. You have the hallmarks of Gepetto the Puppet Maker, but his role is recontextualized in a world where the significance of his craft bears an entirely different light. Instead of a man who so desperately wanted to create a son of his very own, he is complicit in the tumultuous puppet uprising in Krat due to the very nature of his craft.

That said, the narrative of Lies of P falls somewhat flat. Due to a lackluster localization, with a lot of the game's flavor text suffering from numerous grammatical errors. It feels Neowiz wants to offer the trappings of an evocative, gothic horror title, but it doesn't quite stick the landing. Outside of the sometimes spotty localization, voice acting for its rather small cast of characters varies. Some performances feel strong for what the game is trying to evoke, while others feel like the direction for the actor was simply to speak into the microphone with the intention to appear mysterious. So while Lies of P has a lot of promise, the narrative often falls short.

However, the game is gorgeous. The visuals are extremely polished. The environments are absolutely stunning regardless of where you are, be it blood filled sewers, the melancholy city of Krat that seems to be stuck in perpetual rainfall, and beautifully detailed buildings that are inspired by 18th century European architecture. Light reflects from puddles in the streets, and you can see individual water droplets splash against the cobblestone. Fire is vibrant, and the light fixtures have a warm, incandescent glow. It's clear that a lot of work was put into the various environments, and it pays off. The atmosphere in the game is great, and outside of it feeling derivative of FromSoftware's Bloodborne, the art direction is inspiring. But this is probably one of the best parts of Lies of P, outside of its character animations.

[caption id="attachment_984252" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Lies of P Image via Neowiz[/caption]

Outside of some that feely wholly ripped from the aforementioned Bloodborne, the flourishes our little Pinocchio makes with his weapons are impressive. Each animation has its own kind of weight to distinguish between weapon types, which branches out not just in how heavy a weapon is, but also what kind of damage it does. For example, Pinocchio's strikes are far faster and have a baked-in backstep when you are using the Wintry Rapier's Blade and Handle. But the Greatsword of Fate has a much larger blade and its swings are wider, having a much larger hitbox and dealing more damage at the cost of quicker stabs. You also have to sharpen your weapon intermittently through the use of your prosthetic arm, which has a nice animation, but sometimes breaks up the flow of combat. There are also at least a dozen different weapon combinations to facilitate different styles of gameplay, with customization options for mixing and matching these weapons appearing fairly early on — though Lies of P will generally facilitate one of two.

These being focused on the guard, and perfect guard, mechanic or dodging. I found dodging attacks to be extremely ineffective by comparison to guarding. Dodges feel heavy, and ineffective by comparison to guarding, and sometimes the window of invulnerability feels a bit too short to really facilitate riskier playstyles. Yes, you can absolutely play the game without guarding, but it isn't advised. Guarding not only allows you to take reduced damage, but if you strike immediately after guarding, you can recover any health that might have been chipped away with an attack if you strike fast enough. However, perfect guards are what the game is focused around since a majority of enemies in the game will perform successive follow-up attacks that feel built around guarding, and not dodging.

Enemies in Lies of P will glow red when they are performing a Fury Attack, which means that their attack can be stopped with a perfect guard. These attacks also deal more damage than normal attacks, and in some cases in the late game will kill you with a single hit if you haven't increased your Vitality stat — which I avoided doing at all costs, because that's just how I play these games. What makes perfect guarding so strong, outside of not taking any damage when one is performed, is that successive perfect guards will open up an enemy to being staggered. The health bar of an enemy, or boss, will have a thick white outline when they can be staggered with a charged attack, which can then be chased with a stronger follow-up attack. Ideally, encounters are based around guarding and boss fights are significantly easier if you watch their attack pattern, guard, stagger, and perform your follow-up attack. This is basically the core gameplay loop. It isn't a terrible one, but Lies of P lacks the tightness of the games it's so obviously trying to emulate, which can make it feel frustrating or sometimes unfair.

[caption id="attachment_984253" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Lies of P Image via Neowiz[/caption]

Similar to other FromSoftware games, Lies of P features the exact same check-point system through finding Stargazers, which are the game's bonfires or lamps. It also functions on the same kind of healing system, but this game actually allows you to replenish one of your Pulse Cells by successively attacking enemies. This makes boss fights a little more lenient by comparison, because if you play it safe, you can replenish a Pulse Cell for an extra emergency heal. It also has the exact same level up system as FromSoftware titles, with you needing to kill enemies and bosses to obtain Ergo to use at Stargazers to increase your stats. These include Vitality, Vigor, Capacity, Motivity, Technique, and Advance. The game doesn't do a great job explaining these to you, and you more or less need to figure out what these stats do on your own by fiddling around. A lot of Neowiz's title feels built around experimentation, even if it more or less wants you to take the same path based on its reliance on the guard system.

In terms of accessibility, Lies of P does allow you remap both controller and keyboard controls, and does have a subtitle option. However, that is effectively the extent of it. That said, in terms of performance, it is great. I had no issues whatsoever, running on the "best" settings, with the game never stuttering or crashing.

Lies of P is a game that draws inspiration from a handful of things that have remained within the popular consciousness for good reason, and at the very least attempts to set out and build upon the foundations set by those inspirations. And while it will more than likely please those looking to scratch the itch Bloodborne left behind, its lackluster localization and generally narrow playstyle may leave some wanting. Especially after the release of Armored Core VI, which is hard to hold a candle to by comparison. That said it's a game that has a lot of ideas, some that manage to hit and others that sort of slide off. Ultimately, Lies of P is an interesting spin on an age-old fairy tale and attempts to fill the hole Bloodborne left behind, and it really tries its best to do so.

Lies of P will release on September 19, 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Watch the Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Lifeguard Tifa Wallpaper

To go along with the new Beach Festival Fun event in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, there's a new banner. By pulling on it, people can get special looks and equipment for Tifa and Red XIII. However, another item tied to it is an animated in-game wallpaper for Lifeguard Tifa. For people who aren't playing, Square Enix shared a new Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Lifeguard Tifa wallpaper video to watch.

First, here's the Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Lifeguard Tifa wallpaper video. It features her sitting on the beach in her new attire. While this is an animated wallpaper, the motions are very minimal and mainly apply to her hair, arm, and upper body. The announcement also notes it is acquired via the banner, just like the outfit.

There's also a new showcase video that looks at Tifa in-battle when she's using the new equipment. It is quite brief and shows her using the Lifeguard Wraps weapon's Healing Waves C. Ability that heals the entire party. Her group is facing a Watermelon Tonberry, a new type of enemy, in this teaser.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available for mobile devices, and the Beach Festival Fun event and banner is now live in the game.

nintendo direct september 2023 tgs when

Nintendo announced that, as expected, a Nintendo Direct will appear on September 14, 2023 ahead of the Tokyo Game Show. It will focus on Nintendo Switch games. People can tune in at 7am PT/10am ET/4pm CET. It is also only covering Winter 2023 games and will air worldwide, with the European and Japanese branches also mentioning it.

Here's the official announcement. It also confirmed that it will be 40 minutes long. While there are rumors that a Switch successor is on the way, with some suggesting it was discussed behind closed doors at gamescom 2023, it is uncertain if it could come up during this presentation.

We will see a mix of both new games and likely updates on ones we know about from both Nintendo and third-party partners. For example, we could learn more about the Super Mario RPG remake appearing later in 2023. There are a number of upcoming games with 2023 release windows we don't know much about yet too. For example, Level-5 is working on Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time and Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road and said both will appear sometime this year.

The TGS 2023 Nintendo Direct will be held on September 14, 2023 at at 7am PT/10am ET/4pm CET. Tokyo Game Show will be held September 21-24, 2023.

We could also hear about possible story updates. Also, there will be codes for free Primogems for folks to redeem in-game.

As for the 4.0 update, that was one of the biggest recent ones. It brought the Fontaine region to Genshin Impact, as well as a whole new storyline set there. It also added three new playable characters. One was the five-star Lyney, and he was accompanied by his four-star siblings Lynette and Freminet. People are also able to earn a Lynette for free by playing through the game.
