Assassin's Creed Valhalla Siege of Paris release date and gameplay

When was the AC Valhalla Siege of Paris release date? Your Viking saga continues as you go up against Charles the Fat in a resistance against the Carolingian Empire. The biggest invasion of France in Viking history, this battle took place in real life in the 9th century, and thousands of Vikings besieged Paris for months on end. While Norse raiders were unable to break down the walls and were eventually encouraged by Emperor Charles the Fat to move along to Burgundy, what happens in Valhalla's version of events is up to you.

Described by Karen Lee, senior community developer at Ubisoft Montreal, as "the most ambitious battle in Viking history," Siege of Paris takes you and your Assassin's Creed Valhalla protagonist Eivor to the titular French city following our adventures in the Emerald Isle in the Wrath of the Druids DLC. Here's everything you need to know about the AC Valhalla Siege of Paris gameplay, missions, and more that came along with the DLC's 2021 release date.

We basically just got a completely new Doom game

Doom lives forever. From the superlative reboot published by Bethesda, to Doom Eternal, the greatest FPS game ever made remains a PC classic to this very day. Nevertheless, there's one entry in the series that has always divided even the most devout Doom fans. Doom 3, from 2004, exchanges the fast-paced, kill-chain style of its predecessors for something slower and more horror driven. It's still a great game, but imagine a complete Doom 3 remake, that tries to fix some of the flaws and maximise all the greatest moments. This is Retchid, a new Steam shooter that feels like a completely new Doom game, and a full reimagining of the original Doom 3.

Tekken 8 roster – every confirmed and leaked character

September 19, 2023: Added entry for Feng Wei.

Which characters are in Tekken 8? Over the years, many fighters have participated in the King of Iron Fist Tournaments, but the latest installment sees the absence of one key face in particular. Heihatchi Mishima is officially dead, and now the world's fate is in the hands of those rising to face his demonic son, Kazuya. Some directly oppose him, whereas others fight for their own ambitions.

Most of the characters in the Tekken 8 roster so far revealed are returning characters, and we've had enough time with some of them that we've got a Tekken 8 tier list that shows how good they are during the early stages of development. Some fighters have been with the fighting game series since the beginning, whereas others are more recent inclusions, and one character is even making a long-awaited comeback in Tekken 8. With 25 characters officially revealed and a recent potential leak showing a couple more, while we wait for the Tekken 8 release date, here is everything we know about the roster so far.

Cities Skylines 2 apparently includes a feature we thought was removed

The Cities Skylines 2 base game comes with dozens of features that we wish we'd had in CS1. The traffic system has been overhauled so that cars use all lanes now, roundabouts are here, and building highway ramps has never been easier, to name but a few. But with the Cities Skylines 2 release date drawing near, it previously seemed like one key building feature would be missing from CS2. During a recent Colossal Order livestream, Cities Skylines 2 contour lines were confirmed to be absent at launch. A new post from the city building game creator however seems to suggest the opposite.      Mortal Kombat 1 Fatalities list – how to unlock and perform

How do you unlock and perform Mortal Kombat 1 fatalities? In a rather annoying move, each character only has access to one of their fatalities by default. To get the rest of the MK1 fatalities, you'll need to go through one of the many game modes to unlock them, and then you need to equip them in the customize mode.

So yes, if you want to perform the most disgusting finishing moves in Mortal Kombat 1, you'll first need to explore the fighting game's Invasions Mode and achieve certain missions. When you get them, you can view them via the Mortal Kombat 1 gear system, or you can just read on to find out all the fatality codes! If you're looking for all the Mortal Kombat 1 Brutalities, they're on a separate list, as there are so many of them to find. At first glance, Lies Of P looks like a wannabe Bloodborne reskin, replacing the Gothic edges of Yarnham with a twisted version of a kid's fairytale. There are silhouettes in windows sheltering from an infection that's plagued the populace and puppets who've gone awol. Take damage and you've got a chance to recoup the costs by smacking the baddie back. There's a bit where you platform down a large well, thin planks of wood marking your descent. Survive and you might want to visit your doll-like maiden and spend your souls.

But is Lies Of P just another boring pretender to Bloodborne? No! I think it's worked with its Gothic Pinocchio theme remarkably well, and the option to snap and configure your puppet lad to your liking makes its journey feel distinct. Sure, Lies Of P might lack some of the presence of its main inspiration, and not all of its parts come together to form a cohesive whole, but the game is an undeniable must for Soulslikers who crave the dark. It's perhaps the closest any Soulslike has felt to a FromSoft game, in everything from its presentation to the cadence of your character's jog.

I dunno if you've heard of this game Starfield, but there's a lot of talk about it at the moment. It is a roleplaying experience where the role you play is not "Viking-ish warrior who can shout with the power of a million metal frontmen" or "wasteland wanderer downing cans of irradiated coke" but "person in space following a broadly unexciting A-plot". Much of the most interesting stuff in Starfield is on the periphery of the main story, as is the case with most Bethesda RPGs, but I find Starfield to be much less whimsical (something I won't relitigate here). As an RPG, Starfield is taking itself seriously, and sometimes this collides with the design game systems and menus.

An example of this is that you are supposed to experience the vastness of space, but cannot do so without going through a lot of loading screens. Another is that you have two sets of clothes: a spacesuit for places that are hostile and have no breathable atmosphere, and street clothes for planets that do. And NPCs keep making fun of me for wearing my spacesuit when I don't need to, and I hate them for it.

Overnight, in what Edwin called an "unredacted document oopsie" related to Microsoft trying to buy ActiBlizz, two things have been revealed that interest me. Well, three. Firstly, Phil Spencer capitalises "Gaming", which I hate. Secondly, as noted in that linked story, Phil Spencer wants to buy Nintendo and, in pitying also-ran brackets, Valve, which has some of the same energy as me walking into an estate agent and demanding a six bedroom house with a new fitted kitchen and a hidden library. And thirdly, according to a release schedule from a presentation dated 2020, Bethesda and Zenimax have planned out their next few years of games in depressing MCU presentation-style. Boy, are the next couple of years going to be whelming.

As is predictable now, it is largely a list of sequels and remasters, many of them dated quite optimistically, it must be said. This document pegs Starfield for 2021, for example, and obviously that didn't happen. There are also two unnamed games on there for this year (Projects Kestrel and Platinum; 2021's Project Hibiki we know refers to the surprise-released Hi-Fi Rush) and it seems unlikely they're going to appear before the end of the year. We know The Elder Scrolls 6 isn't coming for at least another five years. They're going to remaster Oblivion (but not Morrowind, the weird cousin everyone else likes most, but whose parents aren't sure what job to give them in 2023). And they're going to make Dishonored 3. I'm excited about that! But also fearful.

Readers, I have a confession to make. I might have to stop playing Starfield. Not because its main story quests are intensely boring and repetitive. And not because its planets are all mostly dull, lifeless husks. It's mainly because wherever I go in the universe, I'm haunted by the fleshy spectre of a misshapen man. I'm not even talking about the adoring fan (though he does also stalk my every step, too). Rather, I'm alluding to my own in-game father, who's randomly generated face and features are so utterly horrifying to me that I do a little sick in my mouth every time I run into him. Who can blame me, honestly, when his mouth is so high it clips right through his goddamn nose?

As you've hopefully read elsewhere on here, there's been an overnight windfall of insider info about Microsoft's long-term gaming biz objectives, thanks to documents accidentally released by the US Federal Trading Commission during its court case against Microsoft's Activision-Blizzard acquisition. We've learned that Microsoft are still rather keen on buying Nintendo (and Valve), and that the company had planned out the release of Dishonored 3, an Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster and a Ghostwire: Tokyo sequel during the run-up to its acquisition of ZeniMax.

The leaked documents also include extensive internal pitch and presentation materials regarding Microsoft's first-party gaming operations all the way to 2030. We can apparently expect a mid-generation Xbox console refresh, code-named Brooklin, in 2024; more intriguing, from a PC gaming perspective, is the promise of a 2028-bound "hybrid" Xbox platform, which will centre on a "thin client" OS that runs cloud-based games on "< $99", "consumer or handheld" devices. Oh no, it's the power of the cloud all over again.

I am in control of the RPS Game Club this month, so therefore I can do whatever I want - and this time I'm delving into the world of Hypnospace Outlaw's music. No other game sounds like Hypnospace. Featuring a veritable mountain of tracks (most of which was composed by the game's creator, Jay Tholen), Hypnospace's extensive catalogue stretches across genres both real and imaginary. While Seepage's Nothing Left For Me is a clear pastiche of Linkin Park, Fre3zer's Icy Girl is a purposefully poor attempt to mimic Coolpunk, a genre built upon remixes of a jingle for a discontinued soda brand. The most exciting thing about Hypnospace is that its soundtrack is so dense and complex that there's opportunity to hyperfocus on one particular area to an intense - even problematic - degree.

Enter The Chowder Man, a stetson wearing Kid Rock analogue who makes frequent appearances throughout Hypnospace. A prominent rock musician in the 80s, Erik Helman (portrayed beautifully by musician, comedian and inventor of the Rick Roll Hot Dad) is attempting a last-ditch revival after his music career flatlined, transforming him from Jagger-esque superstar to sold-out jingle writer. The Chowder Man's in-game discography is strange and varied, spanning from glorious rock ballads to 22 second earworms about a microwavable butter-based dessert. Totalling ten tracks, I have decided that it is my duty - nay, my fate - to rank and review them in their entirety. So let us commence this spiritual journey together, my friends, into the complex mind of The Chowder Man.

What does the future hold for ZeniMax and Bethesda? A sizeable helping of the same, if a 2020-dated release schedule leaked as part of today's accidental FTC Microsoft court document blowout is to be believed. The document is from a July 2020 Microsoft presentation about the acquisition of ZeniMax, during the early months of the Covid pandemic - as such, it doesn't reflect Microsoft and ZeniMax's plans today, following global lockdowns and the buyout, and several of the dates are obviously bogus. Still, it's probably a good steer as to current and future Bethesda and ZeniMax projects, which may include Dishonored 3 and remasters of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3.

As for the new Honkai: Star Rail Light Cone banner, the main focus is the five-star Fu Xuan one called She Already Shut Her Eyes. Cospa will sell NieR Automata anime 2B and 9S t-shirts at TGS 2023

COSPA revealed new t-shirts based on the anime adaptation of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a. The brand will sell these shirts firsthand at Tokyo Game Show 2023, which will take place physically on September 21-24, 2023. Afterward, it will bring the products to general stores in Japan in late November 2023.

In a similar fashion to the previously revealed Guilty Gear apparel, COSPA's NieR: Automata anime t-shirts will be available in four sizes: S, M, L, and XL. However, the S-sized shirts will not be available for purchase at the TGS 2023 booth.

The NieR: Automata Ver1.1a t-shirt collection will comprise four designs in total: 2B, 9S, and a general YoRHa design available in black and white. The Japanese press release also made a reference to the cube on the YoRHA T-shirt, as it warns wearers of the same shirt to not lean on each other.

Each T-shirt will be available at ¥3,300 (~$22.35). Online pre-orders for the shirts are also immediately available on COSPA's website until October 8, 2023. People residing outside Japan can also place indirect orders by using third-party shipping services like Tenso.

These new T-shirts will be based on the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime which debuted in January 2023. Aniplex has also confirmed that the anime's second cour is under production. NieR: Automata originated as a video game that has over 7.5 million units sold on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch as of April 2023.

fate/samurai remnant interview header

Fate/Samurai Remnant is the first Fate game in a long time to feature a new standalone story separate from the main Fate/stay Night continuity or existing universes such as Fate/Extra. Despite this, familiar faces and settings help to make the player feel right at home as soon as they start the game. But what was it like behind the scenes to come up with something that wouldn't alienate its existing player base while pulling in newcomers? Siliconera spoke with Ryota Matsushita, the director of Koei Tecmo Games, about the development of Fate/Samurai Remnant's story, characters, and gameplay.

Stephanie Liu: What elements from past Fate/ games and stories did you really want to include or build on in Fate/Samurai Remnant?

Ryota Matsushita: We wanted to incorporate the "harshness of the Holy Grail War" and the "overwhelming difference in power between Masters and Servants" so that these could be felt throughout the game. In addition, the deep themes and the intertwining of each character's thoughts, which are popular aspects of the Fate series, are also very much felt in this title.

What led to the decision to control both a master and servant at the same time here?

Matsushita: In order to make this title a "Holy Grail War experience," we designed the action part of the game in a way that allows the player to control the Master and break through a crisis with the help of the Servant. In this way, when the player is most exhilarated, we prepared opportunities to directly control Servants with extraordinary power that can overwhelm the enemy.

How did you choose which Servants would appear in Fate/Samurai Remnant? For example, what led to Rogue Archer Arjuna and Lancer Jeanne d'Arc Alter's appearances here?

Matsushita: Although the Servants from existing titles already have a large fan base, they were not brought together for the purpose of creating an all-star title, but instead they each have their own important role in the story. They are there to test the protagonist, Iori, and to add depth to the story.

Many of the returning Fate/Samurai Remnant Servant characters feature new looks. How did you decide which ones would look more like their original selves and who would get new designs inspired by the time period?

Matsushita: One by one, the characters were discussed along with how they should impact this work. Miyamoto Musashi, unlike her usual class, has been summoned as a "Berserker", so she will appear looking different in this title. This character is important to the theme and to the gameplay, as she brings a sense of "newness" to the game. No comment on Boss... As for the Servants who appear in their original appearance, we hope you will enjoy how their usual selves will affect this era and this story.

How would you describe the way that Saber and Iori's relationship develops, and what parts did you really put a lot of effort in when writing them?

Matsushita: Saber and Iori are not only partners during battle, but they are also with each other throughout the game, exploring towns, experiencing the story, and even while the game loads on the title screen. In other words, we made it possible for the player to feel that their relationship deepens as a result of the player's experience in the game.

During the development process, was there a point where you wanted to make a game similar to a more traditional musou like the Dynasty Warriors series?

Matsushita: The action parts of the game where the Master and Servant fight as partners, was difficult to develop, but we were so absorbed in this new and fun challenge that we didn't think about returning to the traditional Warriors style! However, the elements that we developed in the Warriors series, such as the easy to understand controls and the exhilarating feel of the game, are of course still alive in this game.

Are there any plans for DLC characters or stories in the future? What are some characters that you would want to bring into Fate/Samurai Remnant, if you had free reign to do so?

Matsushita: Three new episodes will be added as DLC. And in them our wishes have already been fulfilled!

Iori shares a lot of similarities with Shirou from Fate/stay Night. At times, Kengo Kawanishi's performance even sounds like Noriaki Sugiyama's. Were these parallels intentional? When designing Iori's looks and personality, what impression did you want players to have of him?

Matsushita: I believe that users who realize this, as you did, will enjoy the story of this title in greater depth. I think this is a point they have in common with Shirou, but users who spend a lot of time with Iori will realize that he is a much more complex human being than they initially thought. They will also understand that this is also a different dynamic from that of Shirou. This characterization is intended to deepen over the course of the game as you play as the main character.

If in the future, one of the Fate/Samurai Remnant characters could show up as a playable Servant in Fate/Grand Order, who would you want to see, and would you want them to be involved in the main story or in one of the comedic events?

Matsushita: All the Masters in this title are great historical figures who could be Servants, so it's natural that we would have high expectations right? I would love to assemble a team with Miyamoto Iori, Yui Shousetsu, and Chiemon! I think they will bring a lot to the table in an event!

Fate/Samurai Remnant will come out on September 28, 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Lies Of P Level Quickly GuideLevelling up is a key part of Lies of P just like any other soulslike. Spending Ergo on increasing your Vitality or upping your damage with Motivity is an important part of the game. This racks up the Ergo faster than you'd think and you get in some good practice to...
